I use this product in Classic Ivory. It has medium coverage and goes on extremely smoothly. Even though it is meant for oily skin, it feels very emollient and I don't have to put on moisturizer first before putting this on. It almost feels like a dual moisturizer/foundation. I thought that this wouldn't be good because it is the least expensive out of the foundations that I have ever used, however I find that it is one of the best foundations I have ever used! I have been using this for about a month and it has not caused any breakouts. The color matches my skin well and even looks good in photographs. It is not hard to get out of the bottle, I apply using a non-latex foam wedge.
Cleansers -Aveeno - Ultra-Calming Foaming Cleanser
VanillaT 7/16/2010 4:07:00 PM
This is my HG face cleanser. There is no scent to this product and it is very gentle, it does not strip the skin. It removes makeup and gently cleanses the skin. My face is sensitive, when I use this I have less redness and less breakouts.
I don't like to use body lotions that have parabens as ingredients, and this lotion does not. I therefore feel more comfortable slathering large portions of my skin with it. I have dry skin that can get itchy especially in winter or in dry weather. This lotion goes on and soaks in well-- it is not watery like other lotions I have tried and yet it is not too greasy either. The scent smells like something marine. I have returned to this lotion again and again, every time I have tried anything new it hasn't lived up to this. Price is good for the size and quality-- about $5.
Cleansers -Clarins - Cleansing Milk for dry to normal skin

This is pricier than I would usually go for, but Clarins has so many cream cleansers and I have wanted to try it for a long time. So as a special treat I got this cleanser. I love everything about it-- texture, subtle scent, ease of use, and most especially results! My skin is perfect when I am using this. The bottle is pretty large and I am hoping that it lasts me a long time. If these results continue, I will definitely be using this for a long time! I follow the method they recommend in the package followed by wiping it off with a damp washcloth. Voila! Clean, happy skin.
I am reviewing the more recent formulation of this product (2008, after packaging change). This product is very mild and very basic. If you want a no frills shampoo that will leave your hair feeling like you have already conditioned it right after you are rinsing out the shampoo then you will like this. This is one of the few shampoos that I feel like I could use without following it up with a conditioner. It is meant for damaged hair and I feel like it is one of the few shampoos that lives up to that because of its gentleness. The scent used to be awful (powdery?) but they have changed that now to be more mainstream (similar to Pantene or the likes). The only gripe I have is that they made the packaging smaller while keeping the price the same. However, the new packaging is a lot prettier! No animal testing (more of a concern with me now); no parabens (also a plus). Overall one of the best shampoos I have used-- I will likely buy this again when I run out.
Skincare - Face -Yves Rocher - Pure Calmille 2-in-1 Cleanser + Toner
VanillaT 4/25/2008 9:20:00 PM
Got this on sale for 50% off. I have dry skin, and this is non-lathering, which is a plus. You also don't have to use water-- another big plus in my opinion. The scent is extremely light and non-aggravating. HG material! Will definitely order again. I hope they never stop making this.
Shampoo -Perlier - Shampoo Balsamo Alla Mandorla Bianca

Mmm. This shampoo smells so good! I got it for $4.99 at Marshall's, which is a fair bit cheaper than it is sold for on the Perlier website (~$14). I was suprised at how conditioning this was for not having silicones in the ingredients. The lather was not a lot, but the lather that was there was very fine. My hair feels fantastic after use. This is the best shampoo I have ever used for my hair (fine). Now I am hoping that I can find it again!
This is my HG mascara-- I have tried so many varieties and when I finally came back to this one it made me realize more than ever how good it really is. It does not go on too thick or clumpy, it is the right color (brownish black) and it doesn't make my eyes burn throughout the day, which really is the best part. Also, it is cheap so I can afford to keep it up to date every three months so as not to risk eye infections. Love!
I love the smell of this. I first tried the smaller bottle of it when traveling abroad. If you are a fan of peach smells, then for the price you should consider giving this a go. It does fade pretty fast but it does fade nicely on my skin, and with this price it doesn't really matter because you can always just spritz a little bit more on! This is really a springy/summery scent!
I don't get the bad reveiws/overall rating for this. I alternate between this and L'Oreal Pro ColorVive for regular hair as my shampoo. IMO the L'Oreal is a bit more gentle than this one, but sometimes if I have been using a lot of styling products I prefer this one (Garnier). It gets my hair and scalp clean without feeling like I stripped the heck out of my hair and skin. I also love the smell of Garnier's Fructis line. When I do use this shampoo I use it in conjuction with the Fructis Strength & Repair conditioner (my favorite out of all of the Fructis conditioners- it has a reconstructive polymer in it that most of the other ones do not).
I got this in Apricot (400). I had seen several gals using it around school and even though I wasn't interested in it at first, I figured that if that many people were using it that there must be something to it. Well, there is something special to this, at least IMO! It goes on feeling like you are not even wearing anything, and when you put the balm over it then just feels like a nice moisturizing chapstick. So far, it has lasted for 5 hours with no reapplications of the color and only one reapplication of the balm. It doesn't totally dry out the lips when the balm wears off, but it does feel "matte." I found that I could use the packaging as a mirror quite well. I really want to try "Auburn" and "Henna" next! I told the other women in my family about this as well...
Styling Products -Unlisted Brand - Dep Sport Styling Gel
VanillaT 3/27/2008 4:26:00 PM
This stuff is the best!!! I used it all through my dancing years to get that perfect ballet bun with nary a hair out of place. This stuff is literally indestructo, and yet it has no alcohol or nasty stuff in it. It is truly never sticky, just like it says. Don't let the retro-icity scare you away, this is THE best gel out there IMO. Good for girls and boys!

I love the packaging, I love the product. What more is there to say?
Eye Shadow -Estee Lauder - Signature Silky Eyeshadow Duo, Ginger
VanillaT 2/13/2008 11:27:00 AM
Very unique shade! I use this with the Autumn lipstick for a look. It is really not a shade that I have ever seen exactly replicated anywhere else. Loverly! The only downside is that the applicator included is crap. I have smallish hands and it is like it was made for Thumbelina. I am practically Fumbelina when I try to use it. I just use my eyeshadow brush instead to make things a whole lot easier.
Lipstick -Estee Lauder - Pure Color Lipstick- Autumn
VanillaT 2/13/2008 11:19:00 AM
I can't believe this doesn't have a higher rating! The only thing I can chalk it up to is that maybe the color just doesn't cut it for certain complexions. I have a lighter yellow-ish complexion and this does show up medium-bordering-on-dark on me. The name "Autumn" is very descriptive... it looks just like the color you would find on some fall leaves- goldenish-orangeish-reddish... with a golden shimmer. I love it. I have repurchased this- and hope to continue to do so as long as they make it. I usually resort to drugstore when I can, but I have not found a color just quite like this one anywhere else.
