Powder -Vichy - Aera Teint Mineral Podwer Foundation
Valou 2/29/2012 1:37:00 PM
I haven't written a review in a long time (I'll have to check, maybe 2 years?). This is the first time that something new has compelled me to write. I love this stuff. I'd say that the coverage is medium, and it depends on the brush used for application. As everyone has already mentioned, the included brush is pretty my unsuable it's so scratchy. I've started applying the powder with the round Lise Watier foundation brush which makes it easier for me to apply the powder only where I most need it: chin, around my mouth, and the sides of my nose. These are the areas I break out the most and that feature the most acne scars. I have my share of fine lines (turning 30 next year) but I don't find them to be accentuated in the least. I'm surprised to read that someone found that this broke them out and that they preferred the Dior powder foundation. While I agree that the Dior has better coverage, it totally broke me out. I've been using the the Vichy mineral powder for about a month now, and I don't remember by skin being this clear in years. I think that the regular price is high, SDM has it on sale at $17 right now and I'm going from store to store to hoard it. At this price I could purchase three pots for every single Dior compact I used to buy. I should mention that I don't care for the liquid Aerateint at all, I think that one just sits on the skin and is prone to oxydizing. This powder, on the other hand, seems to sink right in. I should also mention that this is the first mineral foundation that I've tried that does not cause my face to itch around the nose. I'd given up on mineral makeup because of this so I'm just thrilled with this stuff. Thrilled!! EDITED April 3, 2012: I'm not so sure about this anymore. I think it looks terrific when I first put it on and for the folowing few hours, but I don't like how it's settled by the afternoon or evening. I can't apply more at the end of the day, it just looks more uneven. There is shine. And it doesn't behave that well on top of my sunscreen. I'm considering returning the two unopened boxes I'd purchased...

Blush -BeneFit Cosmetics - Benetint
Valou 4/20/2010 8:23:00 AM
I'm late to the party with Benetint, as it was so expensive in Canada and I haven't had the best experience with cheek stains. But I'm really impressed with how easy it is to blend! I was afraid I'd have a 3 second window before it stained my cheek and left streaks, but not so! I absolutely LOVE it on my lips though. It prevents the darker outline that lipstick often leaves on me, and is totally MLBB. Pictured on both lips and cheeks here: http://img.makeupalley.com/2/5/8/0/1607700.JPG

Lotions/ Creams -J. R. Watkins - Lemon Cream Hand Repair Moisturizer
Valou 5/28/2009 1:15:00 PM
Oh my goodness, this cream is pure bliss. I can't remember ever having a product that smells this good, and as a product junkie I have more than I'd care to admit. Smells like lemon meringue pie, and the fragrance lasts even after 2 handwashes. No clue how this is possible, but I'm tempted to stock up in case this is ever discontinued. Purchased at Walmart in Canada.

Shampoo -LUSH - Gentle Lentil solid shampoo
Valou 8/30/2008 11:05:00 PM
I talk about Gentle Lentil in my silly little Lush review on YouTube here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hlNbBRNIXHg I love Gentle Lentil. I love that it's rich in protein, I love the soft vanilla smell, I love it's solid form which makes it great for traveling, I love the lather it gives. What I don't like: IT'S SOLD OUT :( I wish Lush would bring this back. It clearly has quite a following, and with good reason: it's a simple, gentle, sweet soap that works on almost everyone. The website recommends it for children's hair and I can see why: it doesn't even sting when I use it as an eye makeup remover!

Cleansers -LUSH - Angels on Bare Skin
Valou 8/30/2008 10:58:00 PM
I talk briefly about AOBS in my silly YouTube product review video here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rvG3Iq2cW7U AOBS is my favorite Lush cleanser. I know some people dislike using it every day because it is a scrub, I have no problems doing so. It leaves my skin so soft and blotch free. The price is right, the smell is gentle... I'm sad that it has such a short shelf life, but I'm happy that it's free of harsh preservatives.

Toners -LUSH - Breath of Fresh Air
Valou 8/30/2008 10:55:00 PM
As far as toners go, this one is top notch. I talk about it in my silly YouTube product review video here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rvG3Iq2cW7U I don't toners are essential. But in moments when I don't need to wash my whole face, a few swipes of the toner on a cotton pad refresh and cleanse just enough without stripping. When I want to remove excess cleanser (Aqua Marina, I'm looking at you!!), it also works great. It is very nice under my Gorgeous moisturizer as well. Love it!

Moisturizers -LUSH - Gorgeous
Valou 8/30/2008 10:50:00 PM
I talk about Gorgeous in my silly little YouTube review here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rvG3Iq2cW7U I'm very impressed by Gorgeous. I managed to get if for half price, and at the price I would be willing to stock up. It absorbs lightning fast, smells nice (nothing spectacular though) and doesn't clog my pores. My skin tone is brighter for hours. I've paid the same about of money for lotions that didn't deliver this well. BUT. Would I spend $85? or 96 with Canadian taxes?I think so. It depends on how long the tub will last me. If it lasts a year, and I believe it might, then yes, absolutely. Only downside (aside from price) is the packaging. This lotion is far too liquid to be in tub form. It we are paying $85+, we deserve a pump bottle. JMO.

Gels/Soaps -LUSH - Flying Fox Shower Gel
Valou 8/30/2008 10:45:00 PM
I talk briefly about the shower gel in my silly little YouTube review, here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6i0oLSXj4WM This is my favorite shower gel of all time, the fragrance that hooked me onto Lush, and that changed my shower experience forever :) I smell the same "dirty" jasmine as everyone else, and I love it. It's an extremely sensual fragrance, and it makes my bathroom smell wonderful for hours afterwards. Lathers nicely too. Only downside is that once the expiry date has passed, boy oh boy does the fragrance turn!

Treatments -LUSH - Flying Fox Temple Balm
Valou 8/30/2008 10:41:00 PM
Oh, how I wish I could purchase this in Canada! Smells like the Youki-Hi bath bomb, Godiva Shampoo bar and Flying Fox shower gel. The texture is creamy, I life a bit out with the back of my finger nail smoosh it between my wrists. I can't vouch for its effectiveness as a temple balm, but as a solid perfume, it's stellar. I paid an astronomical amount of money for this on Ebay compared to what it retails for in UK stores, but it was still worth it, and I would do it again in a heartbeat! Lush: BRING THIS BACK IN NORTH AMERICA!! (please?)

Powders -LUSH - Silky Underwear Dusting Powder
Valou 8/30/2008 10:37:00 PM
I talk about this powder in my YouTube Lush review here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6i0oLSXj4WM I love everything about this powder except for its lack of staying power. Pros: - MOISTURIZING! I mean, a powder that moisturizes? Is that not usually a contradiction in terms? Leaves my skin absolutely creamy! -Fragrance: more cocoa than jasmine, but that's fine, it's a soft and musky cocoa-jasmine mix, which is quite original and nice in it's own way Cons: - fragrance fades almost immediately unless I stick my nose to my skin - packaging (almost impossible to dispense only a little at a time) Overall, if I have to own only one body powder, this is it. Will definitely, repurchase when the time comes.

Shampoo -LUSH - Godiva Solid 2 in 1
Valou 8/30/2008 10:30:00 PM
This has to be the only product where its performance doesn't matter that much to me, as long as the fragrance keeps doing its thing! Good news though, it does perform. I need to swipe the bar more than the 3 times (what the staff at Lush instructed) in my hands to make enough lather, but my hair is rather long. It rinses squeaky clean. While it is a 2-in-1, I need to follow up with conditioner just to detangle. My #1 choice is the Henna and Jasmine Fluff Eaze. Although it's a treatment, I use it as a simple conditioner instead, and it helps to prolong the Godiva smell throughout the day. It has lasted a tremendously long time, and although I keep it in the tin, I like to leave the lid off to make the bathroom fragrant. I include Godive in my YouTube lush review here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hlNbBRNIXHg

Shave Products -LUSH - Razorantium
Valou 8/9/2008 2:50:00 PM
This review is from my husband. This product does not work well if you use it as directed ( as a shaving cream used alone). However, as a **pre-shave** cream, a small dollop applied to each cheek and neck and rubbed in before applying having cream, it's great. Does not get stuck in my razor so much because I use a traditional double edge razor. Smell is good, texture is thick and creamy - protects against razor burn and helps the blade slice right through the whisker. As a *preshave* cream the small container is enough and is reasonably priced as it should last quite a long time.

Cleansers -LUSH - Aqua Marina Cleansing Roll
Valou 8/9/2008 2:32:00 PM
I'm so torn on whether or not I'd buy this again. I love AOBS, but it is a little rough on some days, and I'm on .1% retin-A. I purchased this based on the reviews. The consistency is nice and creamy if I avoid the seaweed, my face is completely soothed afterwards and even-toned. No blemishes from this either. BUT. And it is a HUGE but. It smells like something putrid died in that little plastic container. It is so hard for me to ignore the smell! Is it my batch? Is it because it was overheated during the shipping to my house? Am I supposed to keep it in the fridge? I would repurchase if I managed to find one that didn't make me feel ill! I got for free with a coupon code, so I regret nothing, but I'd like to visit a store in person to see what Aqua Marina smells like fresh.

Lotions/ Creams -LUSH - Sympathy for the Skin
Valou 8/9/2008 2:26:00 PM
I'm never going back to my regular lotions. I feel like I've wrapped myself in a vanilla custard feathery duvet. I refuse to put on perfume the mornings I put this on, and can't stop sniffing my arms! Skin is velvety soft, and the smell is oh so heavenly. Unless they jack the price up I have to say this lotion is absolute perfection. I talk about my love for it in my YouTube lush product review here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hlNbBRNIXHg

Treatments -LUSH - Jasmine & Henna Fluff Eaze Hair Treatment
Valou 7/25/2008 8:26:00 AM
When I gasped at the high price for this product, I purchased begrudgingly, convincing myself that if it lasts twice as long as a bottle of my regular conditioner there is no money lost. I only noticed the directions once in the car on my way home - "use full jar for long hair"!!!! $20.00 CDN + tax for ****ONE**** conditioning treatment? I don't think so. The only reason I'd purchased this product was to try and prolong the jasmine scent I'd been rinsing out of my hair after using the Godiva shampoo puck. So I said screw it, I'm using it bit my bit as an AFTER shampoo conditioner. And guess what? It's WONDERFUL that way. I was worried because my hair is long and fine, with a tendency to go flat and stringy. Well I haven't shampooed in over two days, and my hair is so soft, shiny, and FULL! Here is a photo of day 21/2 since shampoo followed by a dollop up Fluff Eaze: http://img.makeupalley.com/2/5/8/0/1024697.JPG I also talk about Fluff Eaze (briefly) in my YouTube Lush review here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hlNbBRNIXHg
