Liquid -MAC - Studio Sculpt SPF 15 Foundation
rated 4 of 5
V4Valkyrie 5/28/2009 2:27:00 AM

For reference I am a NC35 in Studio Fix Fluid, and I was matched with NC25 in Studio Sculpt. This is just my experience, but this foundation's coloring is different than other MAC foundations. I've been using this foundation for two months. I have tried different methods of applying this foundation and found that the MAC 180 (flat top buffer brush) brush or the beauty blender sponge works great with this. This foundation has a gel-like formulation, therefore it feels thicker than other MAC foundations. When I used my MAC 187 brush with Studio Sculpt, it was very hard to blend because of the thicker formula. I love using Studio Scuplt with my 180 brush. It gives a great airbrushed finish. In my opinion, this is medium coverage foundation. I tried layering it for heavier coverage, but it always gets cakey! So if you are going to use this foundation, use very little! Be careful to not use too much because whenever I do, I accentuates every single pore on my face. Therefore I do not think it is "buildable" like MAC's website claims it to be. It is long lasting, however I need to blot with powder during the afternoon, something I never had to do with other foundations like MUFE HD or Everyday Minerals. This is a great foundation, but I would not recommend it for oily skin types.

Makeup Brushes -MAC - 226 Small Tapered Blending Brush - BBR Collection
rated 5 of 5
V4Valkyrie 4/10/2009 8:06:00 PM

I love my MAC 217 for blending, but always found it a bit too bit for my eye shape, and I always had to be careful when blending with it, so my eyeshadow wouldn't go too far up on my brow bone. Don't get my wrong, the 217 is a great brush and is great for blending shadows together. However the 226 is great for eyeshadow placement and blending! The precision tip is great for the outer-v and crease. Before the 226, I used my 219 for the outer-v. However the densely packed bristles in the 219 applied my eyeshadow very dramatic and dark. After using the 219 for my eyeshadow application, I always had to blend out the harsh corners. Now with the 226 my eyeshadow application is so easy and fast! I actually bought two brushes during the BBR collection. I had to search every MAC in my city to get this brush. It was sold out almost everywhere! If you missed out on this amazing brush, there is good news... MAC is bringing this LE brush back by popular demand. This brush is being released again in the summer!

Primer/ Corrector -Make Up For Ever - HD Microperfecting Primer in 1 Green
rated 5 of 5
V4Valkyrie 1/22/2009 11:26:00 PM

I love this primer! I first bought the MUFE HD primer in Neutral, (which I love), then heard raved reviews for this green one on the makeup board. The consistency of MUFE's primers is not like the common silicone that are in most face primers. This primer feels like I'm putting lotion on my face, because it is very smooth and liquid-like. I suggest applying the primer and waiting a few minutes for it to dry (this is what you are suppose to do with any primer). Once the primer dries, it covers most of the redness on my face. I apply this very liberally on my cheeks and the redness is gone! I only need to use about 1 to 1.5 pumps. It makes my foundation very long lasting and sweat-proof. I also love the sleek packaging.

Makeup Brushes -MAC - #165 Contouring Brush [DISCONTINUED]
rated 5 of 5
V4Valkyrie 1/18/2009 4:01:00 AM

How did I ever live without this brush? I have at over 60 makeup brushes, but just HAD to get this one and the 226. In my daily makeup application, contouring is as important to me as putting on foundation. I never leave the house without contouring my face. Before buying the 165, I used to contour with MAC's 109 (small contour brush) or the 168 (large angled contour brush). Although those brushes got the job done, I always had to blend out the harsh lines and it sometimes looked unnatural. The 165 is tapered, it gives me precision for contouring and highlighting. It also gives me face a soft contour which looks very natural. I love this brush and would recommend this to anyone. I also used this with my pigmented NARS blushes. I think I prefer this over my 188 for blushes! Amazing, multi-purpose brush, however it is limited edition. I am thinking about buying another one of these, "just in case" I lose one. = )

Eye Shadow -MAC - Rose Blanc
rated 5 of 5
V4Valkyrie 1/14/2009 4:47:00 AM

(Click on continue for picture) MAC's Rose Blanc is a definite HG for me! Rose Blanc is a hybrid of MAC's Vanilla and Ricepaper eye shadow. Vanilla and Ricepaper have always been my favorite highlighter shades. Rose Blanc is soft buttery gold with shimmer. The Veluxe Pearl finish gives this this shade a bit of a sheen finish. In the pan, Rose Blanc looks very yellow. However when applied the yellow doesn't show much, it appears light gold.

Eye Shadow -MAC - Post Haste
rated 4 of 5
V4Valkyrie 1/14/2009 1:59:00 AM

(Click continue for picture) Post Haste is a limited edition color that came out in the Matte 2 Collection. It is very similar to MAC's Passionate (mid-tone red) eye shadow which is available in the permanent collection. Post Haste is much smoother and easier to apply that Passionate. Post Haste is a muted fuchsia, a bit darker than Passionate. Whenever I wear this color in the inner corner of my eyes, it simply brightens up my makeup. Do not look at the color in the pan and be afraid to wear it! You can use the 224(tapered blending brush) and make Post Haste look very natural and sheer. I love this color, but it is not a staple in my makeup collection. This is not one of those MAC LE colors that I would hunt down on eBay for. However I am still giving Post Haste a 4 rating because of the great pigmentation, it is very bendable, and applies smoothly.

Eye Shadow -MAC - Clue
rated 5 of 5
V4Valkyrie 1/14/2009 1:44:00 AM

(Click continue for picture) I hate it when MAC releases great eye shadows and make them limited edition! Clue is one of my favorite colors to use for smoky eyes. This color is very versatile. It can become neutral or dramatic depending on the other eye shadows you use. Clue is a taupe-y gray with brown, and a frosty finish. Because of the different undertones in this color, Clue can easily be used with grays, browns or blacks. This color is a must-have in my opinion and is very unique.

Blush -NARS - Sin
rated 5 of 5
V4Valkyrie 1/4/2009 1:01:00 AM

Sin is a plummy raspberry color, to me. You definitely need to use a light hand or apply it with a stippling brush because this blush is very pigmented! I was never into blushes that had glitter, but NARS blushes are shimmering, not over the top glittery. (If that made any sense.) The shimmer is very small and leaves a glow on my face. My love for plum blushes begun with Sin. I never thought that plums or berry colors would look good on my NC 35 skin, but it does!

Lip Gloss -NARS - Revolt
rated 5 of 5
V4Valkyrie 1/4/2009 12:54:00 AM

By looking a Revolt lip gloss looks black in the tube, but it is a deep purple. The texture is similar to MAC's Lip glasses, because it is very sticky. Revolt is very sticky compared to NARS other lip glosses. It is the perfect lip gloss that will "glam" up any lipstick. This is a great color for going out at night. Definitely a staple in my makeup collection.

Concealers -Everyday Minerals - Mint Concealer
rated 5 of 5
V4Valkyrie 1/4/2009 12:39:00 AM

The Mint concealer really conceals my redness! I read some reviews about how it leaves a grayish green tint. If you are seeing a grayish green tint after you applied your foundation, then you have put on too much of the concealer. You only need a tiny bit! I use a small concealer brush and light dab the product over my cheeks. The formula is smooth, and conceals my redness without being cakey. I don't just use it with my mineral makeup, but also with my liquid foundation. It is a great product that I have recommend to many of my friends.

rated 5 of 5
V4Valkyrie 1/4/2009 12:33:00 AM

I have been a customer of for almost a year now. Their samples sizes are twice the size as they were before! I love EM's free samples, because every time I place an order I can always get more sample size products! The jars are small, but reusable. This company has a wide selection of foundation shades and blush colors. I am so impressed by their affordable prices too.

Blush -NARS - Orgasm Blush
rated 5 of 5
V4Valkyrie 12/30/2008 4:50:00 PM

Orgasm was one of my first NARS blushes. I am now addicted to this brand because of the quality and pigmentation of their blushes. NARS blushes are also very long lasting! Orgasm is a light peach with shimmer. The shimmer is very small and adds a glow to my face. This is definitely my everyday blush for work and school. I use my MAC 188 with this blush because it is very pigmented. I think that can work for most skin tones. Many of my girlfriends use this blush too, and we all have different skin tones.

Makeup Brushes -MAC - #190 Foundation Brush
rated 5 of 5
V4Valkyrie 12/29/2008 7:22:00 PM

I bought this brush 2 years ago, and hated it for liquid foundation. It felt like I was painting my face with a paint brush. No matter what I did, my liquid foundation application was always streaky with this brush. I prefer the MAC 180 or 187 for liquid foundation, but the 190 is perfect for powder foundation. I am currently using MUFE Duo Mat Powder and use this brush to apply it. Just make sure you are using only the tip of the brush to pick up the powder. I prefer using the 190 brush when it comes to powder foundations because the sponge in the compact is unsanitary in my opinion. The sponge in the compact gets dirty easily and never gives me a even smooth finish like the 190 does. This brush has been neglected in my collection, but now that I discovered that it looks great with powder, I use it almost everyday.

Blush -MAC - Beauty Powder in Sweetness
rated 5 of 5
V4Valkyrie 12/22/2008 5:37:00 PM

(Click continued for picture) MAC's Beauty Powder Blushes are formulated to be much more pigmented than their other blushes. Sweetness BPB reminds me very much of NARS Desire blush. They both are blue-based hot pinks. Sweetness has tiny gold shimmer. I love how this blush gives me a natural looking flush. However I think this would look better on cooler tones or PPP. This is a high quality blush! EDIT: This is a great winter time blush! During the winter time, I get a bit lighter, about NC30. This blush gives me a very natural glow. Therefore I think this can work for warm or cool tones.

Cleansers -Philosophy - Purity Made Simple (Real Purity Cleanser)
rated 5 of 5
V4Valkyrie 12/22/2008 2:28:00 AM

This is definitely my HG cleanser/makeup remover. I find that buying the 32oz version with the pump on QVC.com is the best deal there is on this product. I use this every morning and night. It removes all of my eye makeup and even mascara with a little rubbing. It leaves my skin feeling very refreshed and clean, never dry. I have been using this for years, and have converted my friends to this as well. It is unbelievable because it feels so gentle on my skin, but does a great job of removing all of my makeup. I find that this cleanser also works great with my Clarisonic.
