Cleansers -Unlisted Brand - Extra Virgin Coconut Oil

HG status right here! Glad I found this product based on the rave reviews here I purchased EVCO (Barleans organic cold-pressed) at my local health foods store. I'm astounded at the dozens of uses and natural antibacterial properties this has and it's all natural :) below are ways I've used this miracle product! Uses: Take 1-3 tsp per day to increase energy, boost metabolism and fight candida(yeast infections) Apply on bruises or cuts to speed healing time Use as shaving cream to protect against ingrown hairs and cuts Add to your styling routine- just the smallest bit smoothes my flyaways, too much will make hair greasy! Mix it with your daily tea or coffee for a flavor and wellness boost--it's so good! Remove waterproof makeup by rubbing it gently onto face/eyes, then wipe off with tissue and wash face Since I began taking this product by the spoonful each day, my acne has miraculously subsided(knock on wood!) and the only thing I've changed in my regiment is adding coconut oil, so I attribute the clearing of my acne to the lauric acid contained in EVCO which works as an antibacterial. I'm in love with this stuff and never want to be without it!

Treatments -AMBI - Fade Cream
rated 1 of 5
UrbanObsession 5/10/2013 12:54:00 AM

IMO you get what you pay for when it comes to this product, so I'm not too surprised that my acne scars didn't improve or lighten during the 2 months I used this "fade cream." It smells terrible, like burnt toast, and the scent doesn't dissipate over time either:( I felt like I could smell it all night and still when I woke up in the AM it lingered. Unfortunately, this formula breaks me out badly and the oily/combo formula is greasy and leaves a film on skin, this product is comedogenic and contains known pore clogging/ irritating ingredients, it contains silicones, ie dimethicone which can wreak havoc on acne-prone skin. Overall, I'm just not a fan and nothing about it impresses me besides the cheap price. If dark spots/acne scars are a problem for you, I highly recommend Mario Badescu's Whitening Mask, it really helps lighten and tone problem spots without irritation.

Moisturizers -St. Ives - St. Ives Timeless Skin Collagen Elastin Facial Moisturizer
rated 2 of 5
UrbanObsession 5/9/2013 1:46:00 AM

My skin is crazy oily and clog prone, I picked this moisturizer up at Walmart based on its rave reviews on MUA and am so disappointed. The price was right, only $4 for a huge 10 oz tub, but sadly, I got what I paid for:( if you're sensitive to fragrances, you'd better skip this one because its highly scented and the first thing I noticed when I applied it. I don't mind a light scent, but this one is borderline noxious and reminded me of a flower garden. Another thing I would like to mention is its second main ingredient is Mineral Oil, a petroleum bi product which I feel uneasy putting on my acne-prone skin, as it's always broken me out in the past. Researchers are split on whether or not Mineral Oil should be classified as "comedegenic," but IMO, it's very pore clogging. I gave this product the benefit of the doubt and used it regularly for one month, what I liked about it is the light consistency/ moisturizing feel, but what gets me is that it leaves a greasy film behind that makes my skin oily in less than an hour and I attribute this product to the tiny whiteheads that appeared all over my face from continued use. I gave this product to my mom, who raves about it for her more mature skin. Def wouldn't repurchase, there are better DS moisturizers for oily skin.

Shampoo -Neutrogena - Triple Moisture cream lather shampoo
rated 4 of 5
UrbanObsession 5/4/2013 3:30:00 PM

Really great DS shampoo for thick, frizzy, and very curly hair like mine! I love how it lathers fully and leaves my hair light and clean feeling with a subtle fragrance that reminds me of aloe and honey. What stops it from being my HG is that it can be overdrying if used more than a few times weekly. Overall, a solid buy for any hair type.

Eyeliner -Urban Decay - 24/7 Eyeliner Pencil
rated 4 of 5
UrbanObsession 4/24/2013 4:05:00 AM

I'm sorry UD 24/7, but I'm having an affair with Milani Liqui'fye and it does everything you can do for a much cheaper price! I don't want to leave you because we've been together for almost 3 years now and you come in so many eclectic colors I can't find anywhere else! Woodstock (hot pink) is my go-to shade that cannot be duped, it applies creamy and sets to a metallic finish that really stands out. My reason for trying other brands is that I refuse to pay $20 for a brown liner that I use everyday when there's DS dupes available, but I can justify splurging for a unique shade like Woodstock that I reserve for special occasions. UD has the BEST color selection of any brand as far as eyeliners go, but they do smudge on my waterline after a few hours (that's what happens when you have über oily skin tho). On my lash line, it's a champ and ill repurchase for all the compliments & confidence I feel wearing the shade Woodstock!

Eyeliner -Milani - Liquif'eye Metallic Eyeliner -Aqua
rated 5 of 5
UrbanObsession 4/24/2013 3:44:00 AM

IMO this liner is much longer lasting than UD 24/7. It doesn't smudge or run like the latter does after only a few hours wear. Texture is very similar to UD, it's creamy and smooth upon application and has almost a "wet" feel to it that sets to a stunning finish. The color is a bright pop of teal that will add variety to anyone's makeup collection. New HG eyeliner cuz it stays put, great pigmentation, and affordable. Plan to try other colors and repurchase! This is a DS gem and the product quality astounds me, so what are you waiting for?

Blush -E.L.F. - Contouring Blush & Bronzing Powder
rated 4 of 5
UrbanObsession 4/24/2013 3:20:00 AM

ELF does it again!! Bought this duo in St. Lucia for the bronzer cuz I heard it was a great product to contour with. Honestly, it's amazing for contouring my face because its a natural looking bronze that takes minimal product to get my desired effect. Btw I apply this with my ELF kabuki brush or blush brush when I want more precision. I have a wide, oval shaped face and contouring is an essential for me since it slims and adds definition to my face. The blush IMO is too sheer and takes way more effort than necessary to get any semblance of color, so I took a lippy off for that. Ladies, if you're learning how to contour or in the market for a summer bronzer, this is it! Ill repurchase definitely. Be aware that the color is very dark looking in the pan, but if you buff and blend it correctly, it looks natural and glowy- I have NC25 skin for reference.

Misc Beauty Tools -Unlisted Brand - SOHO Beauty Sponge
rated 5 of 5
UrbanObsession 4/23/2013 3:53:00 AM

I so regret buying BB cuz the Soho version is a fraction of the price and dare I say it, I like it even better! You can find these at Walgreens and the sponge I got has a flat bottom and narrow, more pointed top. How to use: I put the sponge under running water for a few seconds, squeeze out the excess, and after I dot my foundation onto my face this product buffs and blends it in for a natural effect! I hardly use the pointy end because I prefer the soft airbrushed look I get from the flat part, I recommend using the pointy side for under eyes/ corners of the nose only. Application takes a min to get used to, and for best results, I apply it using a "stamping" motion to press foundation in areas that I desire more coverage and continue pressing my face with it until the lines between makeup and my skin disappear. This is a definite repurchase for me and the durability matches that of the pricier BB, you may find the soho one takes more effort to get ones desired effect, but it's still a total HG and only $6! To wash it, I usually do after a week of use and clean it with bar soap and lukewarm water. Ill be purchasing some backups in the near future most def:)

Foundations -Revlon - ColorStay Makeup with SoftFlex SPF 6 for Combination/Oily Skin
rated 2 of 5
UrbanObsession 4/23/2013 3:35:00 AM

Wow, I can't believe I'm just now discovering this foundation. It's perfect for my oil-slick skin and has yet to cause a breakout for me and I'm very acne-prone. The 24 claim of long-wear is totally bogus, but it does last through my 8 hours shift no problem! The formula doesn't oxidize or get shiny like the majority of DS foundations do on my skin so basically, I'm in love! It provides medium coverage (I like full coverage most days so I add concealer after applying it with a beauty blender). Some people claim it's cakey or has a mask-like effect which I haven't noticed, although it dries fast so you must work quickly before it sets. My only beef with colorstay is the horrible shade selection, mind you I have yellow-toned NC 20-25 skin but my closest loreal color match, sand beige, is too yellow bordering on having an olive undertone. I've noticed the color range is either too yellow or pink, there aren't any neutral tones which is a bummer. This would be a 5 lippy HG if only I could find my perfect shade, but if you have oily skin that resists foundation, you've gotta try it & you'll be amazed that skin can look this flawless:) ****EDIT 4/25/13: my skin has been breaking out in tiny bumps all over and I'm sad to say this foundation is the culprit...if you read the ingredients, salacylic acid is mentioned and I had no idea this contained SA, if I knew I wouldn't have bought it. My skin hates salacylic acid, but it may work for others who aren't sensitive to its ingredients. This is going right back to where I bought it for a refund!

Lipstick -Revlon - Colorburst Lip Butter in Pink Truffle
rated 5 of 5
UrbanObsession 4/22/2013 7:22:00 AM

Bought this on a whim and so glad it's mine!! The color is a tawny pink matte which suits my light-medium skin perfectly. This is a great everyday lipstick that should be in everyone's beauty arsenal. It feels soft like a balm with a satiny lipstick finish--the most striking MLBB shade I've found and a total HG, I hope Revlon never discontinues their lip butters cuz I'm addicted to them :)

Hair -L'Oreal - Power Moisture Moisture Rush Mask
rated 5 of 5
UrbanObsession 4/15/2013 6:25:00 AM

HG all the way! Bought this in hopes of reviving my bottle blonde curly hair that was dry and damaged from coloring. I coated my hair with this green apple smelling goop, let it sit for 5 minutes, then rinsed. I got out of the shower with noticeably softer, shiny, frizz-free hair and was astounded! Normally, loreal doesn't do it for me, but this mask is truly great quality and makes up for their entire lackluster Everpure line. If your hair is fried or in need of some serious TLC, try this. It works great as a hair protectant when I shampoo as well (normally I don't shampoo my hair because its so drying). I coat my hair from middle to ends with this mask and add shampoo to my roots--voila! No more scraggly, split ends and it keeps my hair protected from overdrying. I follow up my shampoo with a hefty coating of this mask all over and leave it on anywhere from 5-10 mins for beautiful hair. I will repurchase for sure! My hair has never looked this healthy after color, and I have this product to thank:)

Cleansers -Trader Joe's - Nourish All in One Facial Cleanser
rated 5 of 5
UrbanObsession 4/9/2013 2:29:00 AM

The reviews on MUA don't lie, this product is so awesome! For reference, I have clog-prone combination skin that's easily broken out. Since I began using this cleanser, I haven't had a single cyst or acne flare up, which often occurs when I switch cleansers. The texture is gel consistency, it dissolves makeup& oil, and leaves my skin feeling refreshed and balanced! It can be a slight bit drying, so the tiniest amount is all you need. Thank you TJ for making an affordable cleanser that does everything it promises.

Eye Shadow -Maybelline - Eyestudio in Natural Shock
rated 4 of 5
UrbanObsession 4/7/2013 2:45:00 AM

I picked this baby up on clearance at Walgreens & I believe it's LE so get it while you can :) I'm pleasantly surprised with the quality and pigment of these(normally I'm a bit of a snob when it comes to DS eye shadows). All four shades are glittery, so this palette is best suited for going out and if you dislike glitter, you should skip this one. I got stuck in a crazy Chicago rain storm and this product stayed put--the only reason why I took a lippy off is due to heavy fallout bc all shadows are glittery/powdery.

Shampoo -Alberto Vo5 - Strawberries and Cream Smoothing Shampoo
rated 4 of 5
UrbanObsession 3/27/2013 1:38:00 AM

This smells like a strawberry cupcake!! If it were edible, I would absolutely devour it, and it's 79 cents, so if you hate it, then you're not out a whole bunch of money. I personally like Vo5 shampoos because they don't build up in my thick hair, instead they leave it looking thicker and full of vitality. This shampoo is no exception, it may be a bit drying for everyday use, so I counteract this by adding some EVOO to it for moisture. Love this yummy shampoo and highly recommend.

Lips -Revlon - ColorBurst Lip Butter in Peach Parfait
rated 4 of 5
UrbanObsession 3/27/2013 1:16:00 AM

Although this shade is not a stunner on me, I can see it working well for those with fair skin. I love the texture, it's very smooth, light and moisturizing. The staying power is alright- about 3 hours or so. It has a non-offensive scent (hate lipsticks that are floral or strong smelling) and a slight glossy sheen to it. Be warned, your lips will sparkle cuz it contains glitter! I will try other shades in this line, just not this particular one since it doesn't show up on my NC25 skin:( loving the formula though, it reminds me of high-end lipstick at a DS price!
