Treatments -Skinceuticals - Phloretin CF

I have been using this product for a couple of months, and I love it. While I can't attest to its antiaging properties (I'm in my late 20s), my skin has felt smoother and softer since using this. And, an ounce of prevention, right? I use this first, before any anti-acne medications and moisturizers with sunscreen. My skin is sensitive, and this has caused no problems, except for when I (stupidly) used a moisturizer with AHA in it (stings!). The dropper is an accident waiting to happen--it's so easy to tip this over and watch a hundred bucks spill onto your sink. Still, I will continue to use this for as long as I am able!

Mascara -Cover Girl - Lash Blast
TuttleK 10/30/2007 5:18:00 PM
I didn't get miracles--but then, is there such a thing as a perfect mascara? I liked that it didn't clump, and I didn't find the brush unwieldy. The black is a very deep, true black, and hasn't flaked or budged since I put it on this morning. My long, fine lashes are considerably bulkier--it doesn't look like false eyelashes, but they do look much better. Also, unlike the other LashExact formulas, which I swore were so drying they made my lashes fall out, this formula feels light and flexible--no brittle lashes! This will undoubtedly be my new go-to mascara.

Lipstick -Lancome - PS Kiss Color Fever Lipstick
TuttleK 10/15/2007 5:20:00 PM
Despite being very fair-skinned, I found this lipstick to be very flattering. Applied over a lip liner with a lip brush, this lasted well. As previous reviewers have noted, it looks almost scarily dark in the tube, but on the lips is a very vibrant dark red. Highly recommended--and I thought the packaging was pretty, as well.

Blush -Maybelline - Dream Mousse Blush - All colors [DISCONTINUED]

I love the texture of these--takes very little to apply. With all respect to Stila Convertible Color, this formula glides much more easily over my skin, even when wearing powder foundations (which I nearly always do). Blends easily and naturally--I very much recommend it.

Hair Color -Clairol - Nice N Easy Color Boosting Glaze
TuttleK 8/8/2007 2:40:00 PM
I was a little scared by the reviews here, but also tempted--it was three weeks before my hair appointment, I had a wedding to attend, and my gray hairs were starting to show (I'm in my mid-twenties, so the gray is still minimal, but noticeable against my dark brown hair). I left this on about 10 minutes, and yes, it was very drippy, and messy in the shower--just rinsing it threw brown all over the tile and curtain! Luckily, it wipes away easily with a damp cloth. I applied the gloss, then blow dried my hair. It has rarely felt so soft and smooth (my hair is very wavy, thick, tends to frizz). While this did only last a little while, I figured it was meant as a temporary solution anyway. Would recommend this product.

Styling Products -Aveda - Be Curly Curl Control (old) [DISCONTINUED]
TuttleK 4/2/2007 1:00:00 PM
I wasn't completely wowed by this one, but I did found that it tames frizzies--my hair has a very soft curl to it (ie, I need gel to give it enough hold to curl in the first place), so I would guess that you girls with truly curly hair would like it. You just want to use a very small amount, this stuff is potent!

Masks -Unlisted Brand - Aspirin Mask
TuttleK 2/20/2007 5:43:00 PM
I don't know how or why it works (the salicylic acid? exfoliates?) but it does. A paste made of a few cheap aspirin and water works better than my beloved Chanel mask. It even made one of those gross corner-of-the-mouth zits shrink. I'm a believer.

So glad this is available in the U.S.! I first got hooked on it while in London, and the smell always takes me back. Very moisturizing, not greasy, and nice light scent.

Used this as a color for my manicure; very classy red that goes great with my pale skin. Love it!

Concealers -Neutrogena - 3-in-1 Concealer for Eyes

Pricey, and the coverage isn't as good as my Mary Kay, but I wanted something lighter on my skin. This does the trick; I'm also a fan of the SPF.

Shampoo -Aveda - Sap Moss Shampoo [DISCONTINUED]
TuttleK 1/16/2007 4:30:00 PM
Love this; it will always be my favorite. The earthy smell is wonderful, and it keeps my wavy/loosely curly, color-treated hair from drying out. For these things, I will ignore the price (expensive) and the packaging (the pump bottles are difficult to get the last bit of product out of).

Eye Primer -Urban Decay - Eyeshadow Primer Potion - Original (UDPP)
TuttleK 1/15/2007 1:01:00 PM
Love this! I can't add much beyond what everyone else has said, but I too have tried just about every eyeshadow primer on the market, with marginal success. My eyeshadow stayed on for up to 14 hours, no problems with this making blending harder, though if you go further up on your lid than you meant to, it can be harder to correct smudges. I would definitely repurchase this.

Eye Shadow -Too Faced - Eyeshadow Duo in Sassy Wahine
TuttleK 1/11/2007 3:53:00 PM
Despite the fragile nature of most of the Too Faced eye shadows, I love this one, and I hate that they discontinued it. I loved to use the lilac as a base and the brown in the crease or as liner. However, after checking their website, it now appears that they have a similar (if not the same) duo under the name of "Cocoa Lily", which I'm eager to try!

Lotions/ Creams -Dessert Beauty - Sweet Butter
TuttleK 12/28/2006 4:34:00 PM
Yuck! While the smell is appealing--like cupcakes--the texture is completely off-putting. Extremely greasy, with sugary-feeling gritty bits in the mix. I used it on my legs, and it left grease spots on my lounge pants. I do not recommend this!

Styling Products -Dove - Smooth & Soft Anti-Frizz Cream
TuttleK 12/15/2006 10:52:00 AM
I'm a big Aveda user, but when I recently ran out of my beloved Be Curly, I decided to give this a try. I'm definitely glad I did--I have thick, wavy hair that tends to get dry this time of year, and this controlled frizz and softened it very well. I mix a couple of pumps of this stuff and add it to my Pantene hair gel--gives hold without crunch. I blow-dry with a diffuser for awhile, add more Dove Anti-Frizz, finish drying, and run a little bit more through my hair. Works great, doesn't weigh down my curls at all. Highly recommended.
