This is a very authentic beachy scent. Some may prefer a more homogenized idea of the smell of sea air, but I love the realistic tone of this perfume. If you love sophisticated, clean fragrances with a bit of ethereal flavor, this is for you.

I totally agree with the review below. Stonehenge is my signature home scent. It is comforting and has the resiny quality of sweet church incense. It is comforting and gives a blessed feeling.

Yhe BPAL notes that cannot be naturally distilled as an essential oil, such as lilac or leather, are made bouquets of notes from other plant-derived oils, not synthetics. Just to set the record straight.

This is my favorite BPAL oil. They list only two ingredients, but the blend seems very complex. It is warm and sweet and melts into my skin, accentuating the natural skin scent rather than competing. I don't know if this makes sense, but it smells like it is glowing.

This is such a lovely amber. It has that beautiful, warm, golden feel, but the dragon's blood lightens it effect and makes it infinitely wearable.

This is not your ordinary incence. Just a touch of smoke balances the sweet orange, which is sweet an succulent without screaming citrus. Lovely and exotic.

This one you have to try on the skin and let it dry to get the full effect, which is of iced violets. The violets are sweet while the eucalyptus and mint are fresh and chilly, and the overall effect is stunning.

This fragrance manages to be a creamy comfort scent without being too foody. Rather, the milk is tempered with enough spice to make it exotic and sexy. It ia also a clean smell, and light enough for daily use.

This scent really conjures images of pools hidden among big green leaves and blooms. I might expect a water nymph to smell like this. I smell water, but also warmth, moss and damp leaves. It is a bit sweet, but not overly floral.

A sultry southern night. This scent captures the beauty and debauchery that is New Orleans. I smell mostly honeysuckle, but it is tempered with a bit of lemon and spice reminiscent of king cake. The element of humidity is amazing-I recognize the scent perfectly.

I know it is hard for people to get used to the evocative scents of Black Phoenix oils when they are so accustomed to synthetic watered down versions of scent, but I really hope that those of you that have been negative about the product will do yourselves a favor and give the blends another chance. The reason they change on the skin is that they are natural compounds and they interact with your chemistry. Each blend is like a work of art, and you don't have to love it to enjoy having experienced it. When you find the ones you love, you will feel as though it was made just for you, and it will smell different on you than anyone else. Good blends for the BPAL virgin to try include: Pele, Sudha Segara, Alice, Midnight, and Dorian. I found the following information on the BPAL forum and found it fascinating: A bit about the perfumer, Beth: Beth has been interested in perfumery and aromatherapy since she was about 12 years old, when she met George Hiram Derby, a Master Perfumer, Master Freemason and world-renowned occultist. He learned his trade from several sources in the 40’s, including Mme. Marie Guischard of New Orleans, LA, who was a perfumer and a voodooeinne – a brilliant and very, very interesting woman. On Mr. Derby’s advice, Beth undertook a series of rigorous courses in aromatherapy. A year later, she began a six-year apprenticeship with Mr. Derby, after which she had the pleasure of a year’s work with Mme. Guischard herself, learning everything she could about Afro-Carribean rootwork, perfumery and herbalism. When Mme. Guischard passed away, Beth resumed her training with Mr. Derby and two wonderful people that Mr. Derby introduced her to – Maxwell Chan, a specialist in Eastern herbal medicine, and Jose Ramon Diaz, a specialist in initiatic tinctures, spagyric formulas, the use of colloidal metals and monatomic elements, and Ayurvedic herbalism. Through all this she continued extensive study on her own. In 1991, she opened up Animi, a perfumery shop. She eventually reorganized the shop and turned it into a by-appointment-only aromatherapy and perfume consultation service. Basically, her clients would make an appointment, she’d serve coffee, tea, and cookies, and they’d chat, work on scents together, and she would provide a full-service consultation. And in 2000, Black Phoenix Alchemy Lab was born.
