Foundations -Milani - Creme to Powder

Well, I was glad to find a pale, yellow toned shade in this line. I do love the fact that it's creamy and dries to an almost matte look. Only problem is that I wear glasses and while this LOOKS matte, this foundation actually makes my nose so greasy, that my glasses slide down my face. This is even with powder on top, mattifyer underneath, etc... So I give up on this product. On to the next one...

I have oily, sensitive, 40-something skin. I tend to use a bb cream first, then foundation, just a drop of each. Perhaps that's why it works fine on me, not others. This foundation was easy to blend, covered what it's supposed to, didn't look cakey or obvious and lasted all day without touchups. My only complaint is that my local stores don't carry my shade yet, an even number, so I have to blend 2 different odd numbered ones for a custom shade.

BB Cream -Garnier - BB Cream Miracle Skin Perfector - Light/Medium

I've been a fan of BB Creams for a few years now. I really love them, but have had trouble finding one that doesn't turn my NC20 skin pink or grey. So I was excited to see this product being marketed in the US. Sadly, I wouldn't compare this to the BB Creams you can get from Asia, it's more of a tinted moisturizer. The coverage was light and greasy looking. It also irritated my sensitive skin and I had to return it. Really, no positives, except that it's only around $12 and available at Target and Walgreens.

Liquid -Revlon - Age Defying with DNA Advantage Cream Makeup
rated 2 of 5

Nice foundation, but the glitter is way overkill. In indoor lighting, my face looks greasy. In outdoor lighting, my face is a glitterbomb. Neither are appropriate for an over 40 face. This is a huge pet peeve of mine, drug store foundations with loads of glitter in it. This looks gross either way, not "illuminating" as Revlon claims. Shame on you Revlon, you're better than that. I did appreciate the pump dispenser and the shade selection is decent. I also like the fact that you can hit up a sale with a coupon and get it really cheap. I can't remark on the actual age defying properties you're supposed to benefit from after 2 weeks, as I returned it to CVS after 4 days. I never return foundations, but knew this one was bomb. A glitterbomb.

Styling Products -Organix - Brazilian Keratin Therapy Anti-Breakage Serum

WOW! I used to use the John Frieda Lite serum, but its been discontinued. I used up the last of my stash and was forced to find a replacement. I was worried, as I have baby fine hair and most serums just weigh my hair down. I read the reviews on this product and checked it out. I'm in love. This is as light as the John Frieda, but smells 100x better! Not greasy (unless you pile it on), controls frizzies in humid, Florida summer weather and gives a mirror-like shine. Easy to wash out, too, doesn't weigh your hair down. What else I love? That my hair feels like silk when I run my hand through it. I have some seriously sexy hair now! My only complaint is the packaging. A pump would be less messy!

Cleansers -Aveeno - Moisturizing Bar

If you have sensitive skin, you know how hard it is to find something that works for you. My derm recommends cetaphil, but the price is climbing to almost $5 a bar. Aveeno is only $2.49. Mild lather, creamy, mild oatmeal smell. My skin feels clean and not dry at all after using.

Treatments -Clinique - Redness Solutions Urgent Relief Cream

I have mild rosacea and persistent eczema. This product is so so at toning down the rosacea, but a true God send for the eczema flare ups. I had used a natural skincare product, thinking it was safe and my skin reacted badly to it anyway. I even had eczema flare up on my eyelids, which I haven't had in over 20 years. I found this product at a CCO while on vacation and had immediate eczema relief! The tightness, dryness, redness was reduced by 90% the first day, completely the second. The rosacea was minimized by maybe half, if that. Will buy again for eczema flareups, but will keep searching for rosacea help.

Holy Grail!!! I have a very sensitive scalp and baby fine hair. This makes my hair soft, easy to work with, fluffy and smells so amazing! Plus, it doesn't irritate my scalp. I no longer have itching on my scalp, neck and back!!!! Using Rx medicated products gets to be a drag. Good for my scalp, but they tend to destroy my hair. This doesn't!!! Plus, it's under $10. I just wish it were easier to find in my town!

Hair Color -Clairol - Brass Free Brunettes

I love this product. It's a Godsend. I've used the Light Brown and the Lightest Brown. Lightest Brown is closest to my natural shade, but some golden overtones tend to remain. When I use Light Brown, the red and gold is completely gone, yet it's not too ashy, still looks natural. It's just a touch darker. In fact, I get loads of compliments when I use the Light Brown. Both shades are beautiful and natural looking. Anyway, it's a mere 10 minutes, doesn't bother my sensitive scalp, stays on like a permanent haircolor and the conditioner shines up my hair and makes it soft as butter. Smells good, too. It's also under $10 and then there's always sales and coupons on top of that. Can you ask for more? No, you can't. It's foolproof, fast and cheap. Get it.

Lip Gloss -MAC - Sunset lipglass (tan ray)

I forgot I had this in my traincase. I had a mini sized one, from a holiday set. So I'm just now trying this shade out. I have to say, it's bright coral in the tube, but a pretty salmon on the lips. Not garish at all, and I'm an NC15. I paired this today with Stila's Jasmine Paint Pot blush - gorgeous! It was all I needed for fresh faced look.

I found a light, yellow toned shade match, but WHOA glitterbomb! Not a good choice for my 40-something skin.

Liquid -Rimmel - Lasting Finish 25 Hour Foundation
rated 4 of 5
Tresor 10/8/2010 11:29:00 AM

I wanna say I love this, because I do, the formula is great, but the colors stink. I'm an NC15-20 and am using Rimmel's 100 Ivory. It's straight up orange on me. This is their lightest shade. Otherwise, this foundation is great. Not cakey, not glittery, not watery, not thick, yet covers what it needs to and it's super cheap. Got it at Walgreens on sale for $3.99. It's just that the shades in Rimmel don't go light enough for me.

Lipstick -MAC - CB96
rated 5 of 5
Tresor 10/1/2010 7:10:00 PM

One of my all time favorite lipsticks. I can't add much else to this that others haven't said. But I will say that if you're fair, like an NC15-20, give it a whirl. It's a nice pop of color that no other line carries. It's a bit more golden coral on me than others, but I also like to pink it up a bit with either Wonderstruck or Red Devil glosses on top. When I go with a lip this bold, I tend to downplay the rest of my makeup, often just going for mascara and maybe a touch of Fleur Power blush with the 187 brush.

Lipstick -Sally Hansen - Natural Beauty Inspired by Carmindy l/s
rated 5 of 5

I got this in Rose Bloom, a rosy, almost raspberry shade. It's very wearable, with complete, opaque coverage on me, yet it's not heavy in the slightest. I normally can't do a shade such as this and this one looks like it was made for me. NC15 skin, light brown hair, hazel eyes. I love that this lipstick is moisturizing, but doesn't travel outside my lipline. A first for me! I love how shiny this is! Could have better lasting power, though. But I've been pampered with long lasting lipsticks. I don't mind reapplying this though. It's a joy to apply a color and formula that you love so much. This would be Holy Grail for me, but it's been discontinued. Found this at CVS for a mere $2.49. I will search other CVS stores for more shades and stock up while I can. UPDATE: I also found Seashell Nude (more of a bronzey color) and Rosy Brown (more rosy than brown). These were at Bealls Outlet for a mere $1.99 each. I just love this formula. Rich, yet light. Shiny without being frosty, glittery or greasy. A holy grail formula for me and very wearable colors. A total shame these were discontinued.
