Foundations -Cover Girl - Outlast Stay Fabulous 3 in 1 Foundation
rated 2 of 5
TrainedDreamer 1/12/2013 12:00:00 PM

Whoever made the original review for this foundation did the category wrong. Now a lot of people are going to end up reviewing the old, discontinued formula. Anyways, I got this foundation because MakeUpAlley recc'd it. I don't typically care for Covergirl foundations as the quality usually sucks. This was no exception. I'll admit it's nice to find a foundation with a pump bottle, & the coverage with this foundation is wonderful! But that's where my list of pros stops. Covergirl Outlast 3 in 1 foundation goes on matte. I loved that, seeing as I have oily skin, until I looked in the mirror only an hour later & discovered my face looked like a pizza. Another con is it makes my pores look even LARGER. I think the owner of Covergirl must only have 1 pale friend. Because Ivory is about NW15 and Classic Ivory seems dark enough for someone NC20. I am NC10 & had to get Classic Ivory as cool tones make me look disgusting. Classic Ivory looks mustard yellowy orange on me.

Hair -Nioxin - Thinning Hair System 4 (coloured hair)
rated 3 of 5
TrainedDreamer 1/8/2013 11:21:00 AM

As I write this review I am 21 years old (1/8/2012), but my hair started falling out about 2 years ago after a drastic weight-loss & illness following close behind. I have maybe 1/3 the amount of hair I used to. The shampoo is great. It really cleanses & left my hair with amazing volume, as if I never lost any hair. Even if it doesn't aid any regrowth, I'd still repurchase based off of that. For those of you with female pattern balding, buy this shampoo ASAP. It's one of the few that will wash away sebum (from DHT...which is the cause of your hairloss). As for the conditioner & leave in scalp therapy included in this set. Ehh...I'm not really impressed. The conditioner is sort of drying. I'm sure I could find a better, cheap, volumizing conditioner. Another reason I wouldn't repurchase the conditioner is it will do absolutely NOTHING for your hairloss. Conditioner should not touch your scalp, & thus it is useless here. Shampoo & leave in scalp products made for this sort of issue are your best bet. Now for the leave in product included in this kit...absolutely horrible. How does ANYONE use this??? It left my hair crunchy, my scalp irritated, & worst of all - did more harm than good. After 1 night's usage I can tell my hair is even more damaged because this mousse crap hardens your hair to the point that itll break off when anything touches your hair. I think I will return this kit, & just buy the shampoo. That would save me some $$$.

Foundations -Revlon - Nearly Naked Foundation
rated 2 of 5
TrainedDreamer 1/4/2013 8:27:00 PM

I'll be returning this. I understand that I am albino with NC10 skintone, but Vanilla certainly shouldn't have turned me a dark, orangey, burnt mustard shade. If I had a color match.... this still would be a horrible foundation. I'm somewhat okay with it not having much coverage, as my skin is (currently) decent. However I am not okay with the fact it clings to every dry patch, magnifies every pore, and emphasizes every fine line. This does seem like a good foundation for oily skin however it clearly did not work for me!

Lip Gloss -L'Oreal - Shine Caresse Lipgloss-183 Pink Resistance
rated 4 of 5
TrainedDreamer 12/29/2012 5:28:00 PM

I initially was going to write an angry review on this product, as I hated it the first time I wore it. Luckily I waited a few days, & it's grown on me. Pink Resistance is a light, warm pink in the tube. It somehow darkens on my lips & leaves a beautiful, somewhat natural looking, strawberry pink stain. I'm very pale yet this doesn't look over the top whatsoever. I'm usually a harsh critic & was honestly surprised to read all the negative comments on this lip gloss. Unlike a lot of lip products, the L'Oreal Shine Caresse Lipgloss actually last a long time on me! The other night I applied this as a test, then went to sleep. 9 hours later....it was still 90% on my lips! & even better, my lips were soft as velvet. I will repurchase. I do like YSL Glossy Stains & I think L'Oreal has done a great job duping them. Pink Resistance is a close dupe in color of YSL's #7.

Treatments -AcneFree - Acne and Blackhead Terminator
rated 2 of 5
TrainedDreamer 12/17/2012 12:15:00 AM

I'd return this if I could. It didn't do much for my acne unlike other Benzoyl Peroxide spot treatments I've used. To add insult to injury, it burnt my skin absolutely raw (even though it didn't control my oil!) & transferred during the night..........somehow into my undereye area where I had a night eye cream on! Ouch. :( This has never happened before with other products. Acne-free products seem to suck in my experience.

Treatments -Redken - Extreme Anti Snap (new formula 2011)
rated 5 of 5
TrainedDreamer 12/17/2012 12:07:00 AM

Why the HELL did I ever stop using this product? I can't remember exactly. In 2009 I ditched it for Paul Mitchell's Super Skinny Serum & it's been a greasy slippery slope since then. Recently (December 2012) I found a bottle that had been gifted to me months ago but went without use. I ran out of Chi Silk Remedy Serum & used this out of sheer desperation. My thinning, fine, damaged hair sure did thank me! Redken Anti Snap makes my hair look much healthier, protects it from heat, undoes a tiny bit of the damage, and even gives my hair body!!! I can not imagine this product ever weighing it down, causing my hair to look even thinner like serums do. If you straighten or blow dry your hair, this product is also great because it'll keep your hair styled. I will repurchase! This is my refound HG hair product lol.

Fragrances -Diesel - Loverdose EDP
rated 5 of 5
TrainedDreamer 12/16/2012 11:58:00 PM

Loverdose is one of the few fragrances on the commercial market I'd rave about. When you first spray it on, the scent is sort of offensive. But when it dries down...you're in for a treat! Licorice & sweet vanilla, followed by a floral note. It's not too strong/overpowering, yet it does linger for hours. If you love Aquolina's Pink Sugar like I do, you'll love it's "grown up cousin" Loverdose too.

Eye Shadow -Revlon - Satin Eye Shadow Single in Nude Slip
rated 4 of 5
TrainedDreamer 11/12/2012 11:46:00 PM

Damn, it's a shame that by the time I found this it was already discontinued. :( I searched through a few Big Lot stores though & luckily was able to find 2 left for dirt cheap...score! This shade is beautiful. I usually don't bother with nude shadows as they make my green eyes look muddy. This however, makes the green pop. I guess Nude Slip is best described as a nuetral golden nude, very similar to MAC's All That Glitter eyeshadow (I'd even consider it a dupe). Moving on...the texture is to die for! It's even more buttery than Wet n Wild shadows, & easy to blend! The pigmentation is great too. Revlon eyeshadows seem to be a hit-or-miss sort of deal. Nude Slip is definitely one of the better ones. I'd repurchase in a heart beat! It's sad Revlon DCed this shade.

Concealers -Hard Candy - Glamoflauge Concealer
rated 1 of 5
TrainedDreamer 11/12/2012 11:38:00 PM

No matter how I applied this concealer, it always caked in my under-eye lines. The texture was especially gross & greasy too which lead to it wearing off quickly. I'd never buy this again.

Liquid -Neutrogena - Shine Control Makeup
rated 2 of 5
TrainedDreamer 11/12/2012 11:34:00 PM

I'll start with the pros. The lightest shade is a dupe of NAR's Siberia. If you're super pale & warm toned like me you'll know all too well what a pain in the *** it is to find such light shades! I also really love the concept of this, shine controlling make up. I'm very oily & most foundations only further make me look like a greaseball. Now for the cons... It's a shame Nuetrogena did such a bad job with this product, as it could of easily have been a best seller. My biggest complaint is the texture. Who else thought something must of been wrong with the batch they got? Ive learned that I'm not alone on this & that every bottle is the same. It's literally gritty, like dollar store toothpaste. I felt like I was applying water mixed in with sand to my face. If feeling it wasn't bad enough - trust me, it didn't look good either! The shine controlling ingredients only worked for about an hour. I will not repurchase nor reccomend.

Treatments (Eye) -Amore Pacific - Time Response Eye Renewal Creme
rated 3 of 5
TrainedDreamer 11/3/2012 11:47:00 PM

I did not hate this eye cream, however for such a high price I'd have to be in love to repurchase - & I certainly wasn't. I applied this very generously everyday for four months. I think I'd definitely know by now if this was a miracle product. Nothing really changed in my undereye area. So it didn't do anything good, but did it cause any harm? Luckily no. My sensitive eyes didn't burn, my lines didn't deepen, & this didn't dry out my skin like so many eye creams have. I liked the thick consistency. I would not repurchase.

Treatments (Eye) -Mario Badescu - Hyaluronic Eye Cream
rated 5 of 5
TrainedDreamer 10/22/2012 11:27:00 PM

I am extremely surprised by the negative reviews on this product. My previous favorite eye cream was Shiseido Benefiance (currently $55 at Sephora). Mario Badescu's Hyaluronic Eye Cream has very similar ingredients though, at a much lower price (currently $18 at Ulta). I can't vouch much for the anti-aging properties, as I'm only 21 right now - but I imagine it does a great job as it moisturizes so well. This is one of the very few eye creams that doesn't further dry out my undereye area. The little tub of this will last FOREVER since so little is needed. It's somewhat thick, & very greasy. I wear it at night & if I want to wear it under my make up - I have to blot it with powder. Not a big deal. I'm thankful it doesn't have fragrance! I have sensitive eyes & this has not irritated them whatsoever. I was very pleased with this product & will definitely repurchase. This is my new HG eye cream

Treatments -Philip Kingsley - Elasticizer Extreme
rated 4 of 5
TrainedDreamer 9/11/2012 1:26:00 AM

I sort of expected to be disappointed with this, as I was with the much raved about Its A 10 Hair Masque. However I was pleasantly surprised & can say with confidence that although Philip Kingsley Elasticizer Extreme is expensive......it is WORTH IT. My fried, damaged blonde hair feels so soft after using this. I wear it on my hair overnight once a week & can tell a difference. If you're having trouble deciding between this or the original elasticizer........go with the extreme version if you have really damaged hair. I also bought the regular elasticizer & it was mediocre. I'll repurchase eventually. :)

Masks -Mario Badescu - Drying Mask
rated 5 of 5
TrainedDreamer 9/11/2012 1:22:00 AM

I tried the Drying Cream in 2010 after MUA suggested it many times. Oh boy, that was a bad experience. So bad that I didn't want to try another Mario Badescu product until now. I'm so glad I did! Because the Mario Badescu drying mask is AWESOME. I have extremely oily, acne prone skin. The directions tell you to wear this for about 20 minutes but I sleep with it on! It's cleared up my acne for the most part & my skin feels so soft. Sulfur is a miracle ingredient. ;) I will definitely repurchase & I reccomend this to anyone with similar skin.

Liquid -Make Up For Ever - Mat Velvet PLUS Matifying Foundation
rated 4 of 5
TrainedDreamer 9/11/2012 1:17:00 AM

This is one of the better foundations Ive tried this year. They actually had a color match for my NC10 skin!!! The coverage is sheer but it looked so natural & skin-like. Although I really liked this foundation, I had to return it. It never lasted on my oily skin no matter what primer/setting powder was used. If you have normal to dry skin though, give this a try.
