Skincare - Face -Bobbi Brown - Protective Face Lotion with SPF 15
rated 1 of 5
Toro 12/17/2010 1:48:00 PM

I received a large sample of this face lotion, and good thing I tried it because I would never want to waste my money on such an expensive mediocre product. Let's start with what I didn't like, price aside: - never seems to get absorbed not matter how long it's been applied, always feels like there's a greasy film left on my face - non-matte nor luminous finish, just "shiny" skin - oiliness by mid-day - could make eyes watery The good, if I had to name a few: - easy to spread - spf15 (uva+uvb protection) with no white caste - moisturizes well (if you minus the stickiness) - the pump bottle If you are looking for a spf15 face lotion for daily use, there are much better options with half the price tag. Personally I find this one of the most overpriced "simple" product.

Toners -Shiseido - Benefiance WrinkleResist24 Balancing Softener
rated 4 of 5
Toro 12/17/2010 1:30:00 PM

I don't use this as a toner to "remove remaining makeup" as I believe a good cleanser should be able to do that. Instead I use it (the enrich version) as a moisturizer in the summer, or an extra layer in colder days. It's not runny at all so I don't need to apply it with a cotton pad, I just pour it onto my hands and pat it on my face with no dripping/wasting. It gets absorbed right away with no greasy after feel, it doesn't cause my eyes to go watery. Other products apply just fine on top without causing any cream/sunscreen to ball up. Although it has strong fragrance, it never irritated my skin or bothered me. I would not purchase this only it a generous size is usually included during bonus time.

Moisturizers -DHC - Olive Virgin Oil
rated 4 of 5
Toro 12/16/2010 11:57:00 PM

I'm a cream girl because I like the lush feeling when I apply it on my skin so I wouldn't not even think about purchasing this, an oil moisturizer. I got this on a whim when it went on sale at dhc. I didn't use it until much later because I didn't know what to use it for. But now I'm glad I bought it, because I have been using it on my bodily scars (recent major operation left me with deep/large incisions), this keeps my few-month old scars moisturized without irritating them, and helps fade them as they are not as red as before. I used vitamin E oil before but it was too thick and took forever to absorb, whereas the olive oil is light and spreads easily and gets absorbed right quicker. I also use it on acne scars to speed the healing process. I'm taking a lippy off for the bottle because it is so difficult to control how much you pump out which is often too much and it drops onto the side as well. I will repurchase if it goes on sale again.

Moisturizers -Kiehls - Ultra Facial Cream
rated 5 of 5
Toro 12/16/2010 10:59:00 PM

I've used the original ultra facial lotion, I liked how it moisturizes my skin but not so much the texture. However, this cream, was pretty much love at 1st use when my sister gave me a 15ml sample. It spreads like butter on the skin, quickly absorbed, no greasy after-feel, no breakouts, has an awesome moisturizing properties to go with the souffle-like texture. I have since purchased 2 full size already. I use it during autumn/early winter/spring, the "transitional" state.

Sunscreen -Shiseido - Extra Smooth Sun Protection Cream For Face SPF38
rated 4 of 5
Toro 12/16/2010 7:34:00 PM

I am a very pale Asian (nc15), so I get the worst from the sun - prone to tan/burn/freckles/skin cancer. So I must use high protection sunscreen especially during sunny days all year round regardless of the season. What I look for in a quality sunscreen is - at least spf30, no white caste, non-greasy, non-drying, and I hate the "sunscreen" smell. This one doesn't have any of that, it's easy to spread (hence the name), moisturizing enough for the Canadian winter, doesn't cause breakouts, leaves a dewy finish that's not shiny looking, smells great...BUT it's also rather expensive, however for for what it does I will continue to purchase until I can find a cheaper alternative. In the summer I switch to Anessa spf32 milky sunscreen for town use.

Moisturizers -Olay - Regenerist Micro-Sculpting Cream
rated 4 of 5
Toro 12/16/2010 7:21:00 PM

I finally gave into the hype of it being called the "poor men's la mer", since I'm already 28 i should really start preventing again. And costco was having a duo pack for $50, which is much cheaper than the drugstore retail price, so i felt it was a sign for me to get it lol. It is easy to spread (not need to emulsify first) and no burning sensation upon applying nor does it sting my eyes. It takes a few minutes to absorb and when it does it keeps my skin moisturized throughout the winter night. The strong fragrance can put some people off, but personally I enjoy the smell. I have been using it as my night cream for more than a week, no break outs and soft skin, what's not to like. When it gets even colder I'm considering to use it underneath my sunscreen in the morning since it's loaded with antioxidants and i never woke up with greasy foreheads in the morning. However I will not repurchase because it will take quite some time to finish the 2 tubs!

Sunscreen -Shiseido - Anessa - town use sunscreen SPF30
rated 5 of 5
Toro 12/16/2010 7:02:00 PM

Mine is the gold package SPF32 PA+++ milky sunscreen for town use. Just like the names says, it has a thick milky texture that is easy to spread. It leaves no white film on the face nor rubs off white residue on clothing. It dries to a matte finish and stays matte throughout the day. However I find it too drying to use alone especially in the winter, by applying a moisturizer underneath easily solves the problem. I have been using it everyday for a month and had not experience any breakouts. I don't need cleansing oil to remove it, my regular cleanser (purity made simple) does the job. I purchased mine through sasa.com at around $27cdn for 60g.

Blush -Shiseido - Accentuating Color Stick in S5 Rosy Flush
rated 5 of 5
Toro 12/16/2010 6:48:00 PM

I've had this for a while, it was an impulse purchase when I went to a Shiseido outlet, so I only paid $10cdn. I remember when I first tried it I thought it made me look like a clown so I banished it in my draw for more than a year. However this year I've been feeling lazy to clean my blush brush so I decided to try it again. Not only did it not "shrink" like most stick products, its consistency is still as creamy and fresh like new. The 2nd time I tried it, it gave me such a natural healthy glow (nc15, bobbi brown porcelain). It's been my #1 winter blush since then, because it doesn't accentuate my dry skin, it lasts and so easy to apply. However I'm not sure about its wearability in the summertime, guess will have to wait.

Cleansers -Philosophy - Purity Made Simple One-Step Facial Cleansing Cloths
rated 4 of 5
Toro 12/16/2010 6:30:00 PM

I use this at night time, as I find it cleanses well (normally sunscreen + concealor + blush) and my skin doesn't feel dry or filmy afterwards. I don't know if it takes off eye makeup/mascara because I use tubing mascara and don't often wear eye shadows so I have yet to try. It has a milky texture and easy to spread on damp face, I just massage all over my face and it rinses clean with warm water. The only drawback is that it does sting the eyes a little, or maybe I just rub it too hard on my eyes because I don't get that everytime. FYI, I purchased the 32oz version which I find the price is acceptable, and the bottle comes with a pump which I love.

Moisturizers -Clinique - Moisture Surge Extended Thirst Relief
rated 4 of 5
Toro 12/16/2010 6:16:00 PM

This gel cream is really good, I have sensitive skin and this doesn't burn my skin even after I took a hot shower. If feels nice and cool when first applied but quickly dries to a matte finish. It is perfect for the Canadian winter, I use it allover underneath my sunscreen in the morning and as a extra layer before my night cream. I experience no breakouts or whiteheads (somewhat oily foreheads, dry cheeks). I just wish it cost less, but at least I can get it at Sephora with those vib discounts or during bonus time.

Treatments (Eye) -Lancome - Renergie Contour Lift Yeux
rated 3 of 5
Toro 12/16/2010 6:08:00 PM

I received a generous sample (7g) of this eye cream from a gift w/ purchase. I have been using it for a week morning and night, so far it does nothing but to moisturize. I have been using it for a week, it didn't make my eyes any more awake than a good night's sleep, my fine lines are not less pronounced, however I like how it doesn't sting my eyes, and the fragrance is not overpowering. It is not worth the price tag ($80CDN for 15g) in my books, because it does nothing but to moisturize (which is only ok).

Blush -Bourjois - Lune D'or
rated 4 of 5
Toro 1/22/2006 2:27:00 PM

I bought this becoz I wanted a goldish pink shimmery blush, and the price of it is alot cheaper than other brands at sephora. I'm glad that i got it, the color is so pretty, exactly what the look I want once applied. I don't use the brush that it came with, it's rough and too small. Lasting power is okay. I would love to try other colors as well.

Lip Gloss -MAC - song and dance lipglass
rated 5 of 5
Toro 1/22/2006 1:09:00 PM

SnD is very similar to lust, this is more pink and has slight shimmer. I'm a nc15 with pale lips, it a pretty natural color on me. This is the newer lipglass formular, meaning thinner and less sticky, which I prefer. Too bad it's a limited edition, otherwise I will repurchase it.

Moisturizers -Biotherm - Aquasource Non Stop (Dry Skin)
rated 5 of 5
Toro 1/22/2006 12:53:00 PM

I really like this moisturizer, I've been using it for few months now and still have half a jar left. The texture is a creamy gel type which I love because it spreads very easily on my face without tugging it. As for moisturizing properties, I think it's great, it absorbs well and my skin stays supple throughout the night. I have dry sensitive skin, so far I experience no break outs, nor have I noticed any clogged pores. I will repurchase.
