Fragrances -Avon - Hervé Léger Femme (2010)
rated 5 of 5

I just received this and am very, very pleased with my purchase. Also, I'm a bit relieved since it was sort of a blind buy based strictly on the "scented page" feature in the Avon catalogue, which can't be that accurate. This is a floral with woody and musk notes and some powdery vanilla. When I first sniffed this I immediately smelled Coca Cola but then it was gone. It starts strong on the florals but mellows considerably before settling into a nice proper perfume without any berries, sugars or anything sickly sweet. Most importantly it doesn't smell like an Avon perfume. This is a classic and elegant fragrance, which also means it is not groundbreaking. It is, however, a very welcome addition to anyone's perfume collection.

Lip Treatments -LUSH - It Started with a Kiss Lip Tint
rated 4 of 5
Tippchick 8/8/2010 4:12:00 PM

This is a new product from Lush and it looks like due to Never Be Too Busy to be Beautiful closing up shop, they are now set to step into the breach. Firstly, this product smells just like you expect a Lush product too smell like, namely too much! This isn't a bad thing if you're a fan of the sweet and spicy scents they do so well. If you aren't, look elsewhere. There is cinnamon, apple, sugar and chocolate in this and you will smell them all. Secondly, the colour is nice: a neutral bright pink, at least on me and I've got a light olive skin tone. (NC30) The colour is rather enduring but not quite of the lipstick variety. The texture is a creamy wax and not slick. This is probably due to the very solid consistency of this product. I use a lip brush to apply this with accuracy and to avoid staining my fingers. Thirdly, I couldn't feel the tingle from the cinnamon oil but I eat so many chillies that my lips are probably immune from any food that normally burns other people's lips. Finally, I'm making an effort to start using more naturally based cosmetics. This is the first lip product I've ever used with icing sugar, white chocolate and fresh red apple infusion in it. It is not, however the first product I've used with methylparaben in it. I will probably buy this again but it is like most Lush products in that if it works with you and you get the whole "bells and whistles" approach to be taken with some of their products, you can then accept the somewhat awkward nature of Lush products in your personal care ritual. If not, walking away is probably your best option.

Masks -LUSH - Ayesha Face Mask
rated 4 of 5
Tippchick 3/31/2010 5:38:00 PM

I got this free today when I was buying some bath products to give in lieu of Easter eggs for the children in my life. It was one I had wanted to try but never been bothered enough to actually remember to buy it. This has changed now because I'm converted. The product has a distinct smell but not a bad one. Just a fresh, unusual one. I applied it straight from the fridge after washing my face and only left it on for about 5 minutes. The texture is a bit gritty, which is probably due to the clay My skin felt and looked so smooth when I washed the mask off. I also had an incredible rosy glow, which made me look so happy and youthful--neither of which I would say I really am. I've never experienced a miracle mask or had a facial that convinced me that I should start getting them regularly but I do like this mask more than the Yes to Cucumbers one I had been using, which had a bit of a cloying fragrance or at least was much more pronounced than this one.

Masks -Yes To Carrots - Yes to Cucumbers-Calm Care Smoothing Facial Mask
rated 3 of 5
Tippchick 3/22/2010 4:07:00 PM

My ratings are rather low but I would buy this again. Just not tomorrow. Rather when I want a mask like this so let me explain. This was not what I would call a calming or soothing mask. It was a bit gritty and more of a deep cleaning one. As one reviewer mentioned earlier, this made one's skin tingle but also leaves your skin feeling very clean, refreshed and smooth. My skin isn't burning red but it looks rather deep cleansed and pinky. My pores look tinier and my skin looks flawless with a glow, albeit a peachy pink one. I only leave this on for five minutes or so and that is plenty of time to get this effect. I only use this mask about once every three weeks or so since I use retin-a and this keeps my skin in great condition; however, it does give my skin that boost and so I will be buying it again. The product amount is very small compared to the packaging and the fragrance is rather strong. This isn't the most expensive item but for something readily available from the chemist it is a bit on the higher end.

Eyeliner -Avon - Glimmersticks eye liner
rated 4 of 5
Tippchick 2/25/2010 6:08:00 PM

I have this is in "smokey diamond", which is a sooty grey in that it is not quite black and with some multi-coloured sparkles. It is something I never would have considered buying but my lack of disposable income and time has made the Avon catalogue very attractive to me as of late. Also, I wanted a change from the ultra black liquid eyeliner I have been using. I don't regret this purchase and will but it again. This eyeliner is one of those self-sharpening types. The application is simple enough with no dragging or tugging of the eyes; however, like all non-liquid eyeliners the application is not as sharp and precise as a liquid one. The staying power is rather good and I haven't had any smudging or running even after 14 hours, which is rather impressive. Like I said earlier the colour would be more sparkly charcoal than a sparkly black. This is a nice change from my cat eye style liquid eyeliner application habit. This was very cheap and with great staying power so give Glimmersticks a go!

Treatments -Avon - ANEW CLINICAL Derma-Full X3 Facial Filling Serum
rated 5 of 5
Tippchick 9/19/2009 5:18:00 PM

When I received a sample for this, I used it and was very impressed with how my skin looked the next day. Normally I use retin-a every night, which gives great results but because I just love trying out new products I had to give this a go. My skin looked so much nicer the next day after just one night's application. My lines looked finer and my skin glowed. Yes, this is temporary but it lasted through the day after washing it off. I will say this can sting a bit and I alternate nights between this and the retin-a.

Fragrances -Hermes - Osmanthe Yunnan
rated 5 of 5
Tippchick 7/19/2009 6:29:00 AM

After a boozy lunch I had decided I needed a few fragrance as well as some Hermes. This fit the bill perfectly. It is a light yet very seductive fragrance. Every time I wear it I'm asked what I'm wearing. The tea note is very comforting and provides a gentle invitation to lean in for more. It is at this stage the understated complexity of this scent fully draws you in making you unwilling to leave Hermes without it. I'm not very sophisticated in my description of it and certainly lack the technical terms to accurately describe this fragrance; however, I will say I'm hooked. It is very light and I bought the set of four just so I could always have one in my handbag. When one spritzes it on it is an uplifting and most satisfactory experience so I don't know if it is detrimental to this fragrance that it does require re-application. This is a matter for the wearer though. Please do try this especially for the summer.

Fragrances -Hermes - Hermessence Vanille Galante
rated 2 of 5
Tippchick 4/23/2009 4:46:00 AM

I was so excited to try this. How would Jean Claude Ellena make vanilla different, exciting and subtle in a way worthy of the Hermes label? I sort of wish he would have done things differently after trying this. I sprayed it on myself as well as a card. (I would have asked for a sample but one woman had the salesclerk completely tied up--literally--from having her take out what seemed to be every scarf in the display.) I walked back to the office cautiously sniffing at my arm and then saying to myself "Just give it a while". At my desk I thought about how light the fragrance was and the delicate nature of the vanilla but there was something not right. I sniffed around me and realised it was the card I had sprayed. What is that smell? It smells like something from outside. A colleague came in and I thrust the card at her. She said flatly "It smells like fish". I disagreed and said it smelled like sea water and she corrected herself and agreed with me. However, now the fish smell is with me whenever I smell this. Sigh. The vanilla would have been lovely with the lilies but the ocean notes just don't work with this in my opinion.

Primer/ Corrector -Avon - MagiX Face Perfector
rated 5 of 5
Tippchick 2/27/2009 6:19:00 PM

Apparently I'm having great luck with Avon products that other people aren't! This is a lovely primer with a very appealing price. It makes your skin very smooth and gives your foundation staying power. Now, I use Retin-A and will tell you know if you're in a peeling stage of have flaky skin avoid this product because it will just emphasise the flakes. I applied this primer after my sunscreen and moisturizer and found it did a very good job of making my foundation last longer. (Yes, I apply 4 layers of product (including foundation) on my skin.) However, do NOT use this is you have flakes on your skin. I cannot emphasise that enough. It didn't make my skin oily but my skin is no longer oily like it was in my early 20s. Again, give this a try but make sure your skin is properly moisturized and that there are no flakes on your skin before applying it.

Treatments (Eye) -Avon - Anew Clinical Eye Lift
rated 5 of 5
Tippchick 2/27/2009 6:13:00 PM

I bought this rather reluctantly since the reviews on here were so mixed; however, I'm happy to say this has worked out quite well for me. To be completely honest, I don't have any major lines around my eyes and only very fine ones. Obviously, I want to maintain this. I've used all sorts of eye cream brands from Chanel to ROC and even other Avon products but I have to admit this one is really good and has earned a permanent place in my skincare routine. The gel for your lid is said to tighten. Well, I'm not so sure if it does that as much as it sort of de-puffs the eye area. Whichever it is it does have the result of making the eyelid look less droopy. As far as the cream for under your eye, it is a very rich yet easily absorbed one. I normally put on my eye cream, sunscreen and moisturizer after getting out of the shower and let it absorb whilst I dry my hair. I've not had any problems with this eye cream and my eye make-up or contact lenses. This is rather affordable and worth a shot but you should stick with it a good 4-6 weeks. This is about how long it was before I saw any results. The results were subtle--as they should be for anything short of sugery--but noticeable.

Highlighters -Guerlain - Meteorites Travel Touch in Mythic 01
rated 4 of 5
Tippchick 2/10/2009 2:39:00 PM

This was picked up in Duty Free and was $46 (Canadian). I would agree with the earlier reviewer regarding the amount of product that is used in such a short space of time. Having said that it does impart a wonderful glow-like finish on the skin and I would say this makes it worth the money but I am at the age when this is very important so keep that in mind.

Samples -Everyday Minerals - Free Sample Makeup Kit [DISCONTINUED/REPLACED]
rated 5 of 5
Tippchick 1/10/2009 12:27:00 PM

I bought this and to have it shipped to me in Ireland was about $6 and some change. It was very good value and I think I have the perfect match in my first sample kit. I read a lot of the reviews here as well as the information on the site. Very impressed with the high quality of the product, quick shipping and packaging. I had also bought the kabuki brush and am very impressed with that as well but that is another review...

Lipstick -Cover Girl - TruShine - Blushberry Shine 415 [DISCONTINUED]
rated 5 of 5
Tippchick 1/5/2009 4:27:00 PM

This is a perfect natural lip colour with just the right amount of shine. It is a pinky/mauvey sort of brown. I just can't nail down the right words to describe the colour except to say it is like that acronym "mlbb". The texture is, well, slippery so a lipliner is necessary if you have less than perfect lips or are susceptible to your lip products bleeding. Personally, I find it moistrurising and think it is perfect considering the cheap price. I picked this up in the states and can't get it here but will pick up an extra tube the next time I'm there!

Primer/ Corrector -Kanebo - UV Skin Care Powder
rated 5 of 5
Tippchick 1/5/2009 8:19:00 AM

I have added a picture because I am unsure as to exactly what this product is. It was bought off of eBay and I lost the directions. For a while I tried to use the blue sponge from the top compartment but it didn't allow me to apply the product properly. It would not blend in and would start to ball up and fall off my face. So I started to apply it with my fingers after warming it for a moment. It is absolutely brilliant! My skin is flawless and smooth and the mineral foundation stays put. It starts off with a waxy sort of feel but once you perfect the application it is an amazing product. I am on Retin A, use mineral foundation and live in Ireland so my skin generally lacks moisture. My recollection is this was some sort of primer base so I apply it after my sunscreen. If anyone has anymore details about this product, please let me know because I want to get some more!

Moisturizers -Decleor - Aromessence Essentiel Balm
rated 4 of 5
Tippchick 1/1/2009 1:45:00 PM

I first used this when I had to fly to North Dakota last winter. Normally, I apply a heavy moisturizer when I fly to ensure my skin doesn't dry out, especially on long haul flights. Well, I was not prepare for the harsh winter weather and my skin was just peeling off and red. I remembered I had this in my bag and applied it. There was no stinging upon application and it made my skin very nice and soft. Yes, it is weird to work with such a solid waxy product but once you get used to scooping out the required product with the spatula and warming it between your hands, it isn't a bother at all. Personally, I love the smell but others might not. I now keep some of this around all the time in case my skin gets extra rough. It is truly a skin saver when faced with really dry, harsh, cold conditions. I don't know if I would use it every day though.
