Polishes -OPI - Every Month Is Oktoberfest
Tina68 10/22/2012 10:55:00 AM
There's no mistaking this is a purple-based polish with red and gold shimmer. It's dark and vampy and in no way can be mistakened for black. Opaque in two coats, application is smooth and easy. OPI did well with this one; it's definitely a favourite. It's from the 2012 Germany Collection.

Mascara -Maybelline - Volum' Express The Mega Plush
Tina68 8/14/2012 10:15:00 AM
I want my mascara to hold a curl, make my lashes look thick and glorious and not leave me with smudging under my eyes. Didn’t get it here. The kiss of death for any mascara is when it kills the curl in my lashes. This mascara killed the curl. When mascara is promoted as giving volume, I assume my lashes will look long, thick and plush giving the illusion there’s more there than meets the eye. This mascara did not give my lashes any volume. When packaging says mascara will separate and define lashes, I’m thinking my lashes will look fanned out, lush and not clumped together. This left my lashes stuck together making it look like I had three top lashes. It did leave my lashes feeling flexible and somewhat soft. I found it to be too wet for my liking. Not sure if that’s the reason I ended up with major smudging at the end of the day or because I have oily lids. Read a lot of comments about the cute packaging and it is cute, but if what’s inside doesn’t work, then it doesn’t matter how cute the tube looks. KWIM? Generally, I am a fan of Maybelline mascara. Not this one. Back to Volum’ Express One By One.

Cleansers -Philosophy - Purity Made Simple (Real Purity Cleanser)
Tina68 7/9/2012 10:37:00 AM
Bought this in the small bottle just to try it; thank goodness I only bought the small bottle. While it was good at removing makeup and didn't burn my eyes, I'm pretty sure it's responsible for the break out that followed. Obviously I won't be using/buying it ever again.

Polishes -OPI - Barre My Soul
Tina68 6/4/2012 2:16:00 PM
Barre My Soul is from OPI's New York City Ballet Collection released earlier this year. It's a sheer beige with a milky finish. Three thin coats later, the whites of my nails are still quite visible. Barre My Soul is a quiet and very understated polish. I think it is a universally flattering shade. However, if sheers aren't your thing, then this polish isn't for you.

BB Cream -Marcelle - BB Cream Beauty Balm
Tina68 6/4/2012 10:53:00 AM
I would like this so much more if it didn't make me so shiny!I got this in the light-to-medium shade and it's a good match. Since I'm very acne-prone I was concerned about potential break outs, but luckily nothing. I love the packaging with the pump tube and just a small squirt is enough to cover my face. Topped off with a light dusting of powder and I'm good to go. When I use it I notice my skin looks like my skin, but just better. I got it on sale at SDM.

Cleansers -Neutrogena - Oil-Free Acne Wash
Tina68 5/28/2012 9:06:00 AM
I love that this cleanser comes in a pump, that it's easy to find and removes all my makeup. What I don't like is the way it left my skin looking dry, rough and red. Sunburn red. I was surprised at how dry my skin felt and looked after only using it 2X. Even after slathering on moisturizer, my skin still felt the sting of this cleanser which I found surprising considering how oily I am. In the end I returned it.

Top/Base Coats -Essie - Matte About You
Tina68 4/2/2012 10:45:00 AM
I never jumped on the matte nail look when it first came out. I didn’t like the way it dulled polish. Last week while getting a manicure, my manicurist used Matte About You on my nails. I loved the end result. On top of Essie’s Sugar Daddy, Matte About You made my nails look clean, well-groomed and healthy looking. I couldn’t stop staring at them. It dries so fast, too. After five minutes I was good to go. Love that in a topcoat. I went out and got my own bottle and let me tell you, that was a task itself as it was sold out everywhere. I can see how this one topcoat will double your polish collection since it changes the way a polish looks. I’ve only used it with a sheer polish and my manicure lasted three days before I noticed the finish was getting shiny. I think I’ll blow through this bottle .

Polishes -OPI - Care to Danse?
Tina68 4/2/2012 9:56:00 AM
Care to Danse? is one of six polishes from OPI’s New York City Ballet collection. In the bottle, Care to Danse? Looks like a very pale lavender. On my nails, however, it looks like a sheer white-based pink even after three coats. Application was smooth and easy. I didn’t find the polish as watery as some in the collection and I had no problem with the colour streaking at all. It dries to a shiny, jelly-like finish, but to change it up, I used Essie’s Matte About You topcoat. Love, love how this looks matte. The thing I like about this entire collection is it makes my nails look clean and well groomed.

Polishes -OPI - Don't Touch My Tutu!
Tina68 3/30/2012 11:08:00 AM
Don’t Touch My TuTu! is one of six polishes from OPI’s New York City Ballet Collection. This collection is a group of soft shades and Don’t Touch My Tutu! is a soft white that dries to a shiny, jelly finish. This would be a perfect white for a soft French manicure. This is one of my favourites from the collection. Application was easy. It’s a slightly watery polish and the first coat wasn’t as sheer as I thought it would be, but I could still see the whites of my nails. Coat two gives more of a colour saturation, but I can still see the whites of my nails.

Polishes -OPI - You Callin' Me A Lyre?
Tina68 3/28/2012 10:02:00 AM
You Callin’ Me a Lyre? is one of six polishes from OPI’s New York City Ballet collection. The whole collection is a group of soft shades and You Callin’ Me a Lyre? is a sheer pink with a touch of peach. After two coats I can still see the whites of my nails. The first coat went on streaky and I found the polish to be a little on the watery side, but the polish seems to self-level at coat number two. I thought about applying a third coat for full colour saturation, but stopped at two. I really like this polish; it’s soft, sheer, creamy and very understated. It’s the perfect colour to give your nails that “your-nails-but-better” type of look. The polish dried quickly, to a high-shine and has a jelly-like finish. Will I repurchase? Probably not as I already have about a billion polishes that look the same.

Polishes -OPI - My Pointe Exactly
Tina68 3/27/2012 9:42:00 AM
My Pointe Exactly, one of six polishes in OPI’s New York City Ballet collection, is a very sheer, blue toned grey. After three coats, I can still see the whites of my nails. I found the formula to be slightly watery and had to be careful how much polish was on the brush so it wouldn’t pool or run. My first coat was slightly streaky, but the polish seems to level itself out after coat number two. I decided to do a third coat so I could get more colour saturation. The finish is a milky jelly with tons of shine. My Pointe Exactly is a delicate grey and while I love the shade, it doesn’t suit my warm skin tone. I also think when wearing sheers your nails and cuticles need to be in near-perfect condition (mine are not), as the polish isn’t a stand out shade that screams for attention.

Treatments -Schwarzkopf - Bonacure Q10 Time Restore
Tina68 3/23/2012 10:40:00 AM
In one use this treatment took my parched and abused hair to hair that is soft, silky and healthy-feeling. My hair is thick, coarse and curly. I dry it about 5-6 days a week and use a flat-iron on it. The treatment comes in a jar (which is totally impractical when trying to handle it in the shower), is thick like yogurt and smells delicious. My hair is just past my shoulders and I use about 2 tablespoons from ears down, concentrating on my ends. It stays on for about 6 minutes. My hair feels and looks wonderful. Can't remember the price, but will definitely repurchase.

Top/Base Coats -Poshe - Super-Fast Drying Top Coat
Tina68 3/16/2012 2:12:00 PM
I'm a long time SV user, but decided to try Poshe because it, too, gets rave reviews. I like that it's a thinner consistency than SV and doesn't shrink my polish. The shine, even after three days, is still shiny and no chips. I did notice while Poshe is quick drying, it doesn't dry as fast as SV (which is not a deal breaker). I like SV and Poshe. I'll continue to buy whichever one I find first.

Sunscreen -Coppertone - Oil Free Face Sunscreen Lotion SPF 60
Tina68 3/15/2012 2:18:00 PM
I burned right through this sunscreen and had an allergic reaction. I bought it for my vacation to Cuba. I applied it 3-4 times while at the beach and still got burned. No big deal since I could cover up with a hat and sunglasses. What freaked me out the most was my skin's reaction: my face swelled up 5X its normal size. I looked like something out of that movie Mask starring Cher and Eric Stoltz. My eyes swelled shut and I had to see a doctor on the resort. Thank goodness Cuba has excellent healthcare! After diagnosis and treatment, the swelling finally went down after three days. Won't repurchase this sunscreen again. Having said all that, I like the portableness of the squeeze tube and it's non-greasy feeling. I used this on my kids and husband and none of them burned, so it does work, just not on me.

Lip Treatments -Unlisted Brand - Lansinoh Lanolin
Tina68 1/25/2012 2:51:00 PM
This product has single-handedly fixed my excessively dry cuticles. No matter what season it is, my cuticles are sore, red and torn despite using ointments, lotions and oils several times a day.I use it at night before bed. Yes, it leaves my hands feeling greasy, but eventually it sinks in.I noticed a difference after three nights. Two weeks later and my once ragged cuticles are non-existent. The skin around my nails is softer, smoother and healthier looking. And no longer red. This must be what it's like to have healthy cuticles.
