I tried Crisco on my feet last night and then slept in socks. I had more improvement in the texture of the skin on my feet from Crisco than anything I have ever used.

Lipstick -Revlon - Just Bitten
Tiltyred 9/20/2012 12:21:00 PM
This review is for the product with the felt tip applicator at one end and the lip balm on the other end. AMAZING product. I don't care if it only lasts a week -- it's worth it. I bought Beloved/Adoration and it is a beautiful plum color. It went on easily with no fuss. It was dry after about a minute, and I put the balm over it and was amazed at how much richer the already very beautiful color looked. It stays on just like you put it on, no bleeding, no fading, no smudging. I think it's important you use the balm it came with -- I think that affects the performance of the product. Also realize that there is nothing enclosing that little stick of balm, which I thought was kind of odd. There's no clear tube or anything around the balm end, it's just ... a stick of balm. Anyway. Don't put too much pressure on that end, or scrape it with the cap, and you'll be fine, and this is so worth it.

Loose Powders -Alima - Satin Finishing Powder
Tiltyred 5/3/2012 5:56:00 AM
I was skeptical whether a finishing powder would do much, so I was surprised at how much difference it makes. I wear N1 in their foundation and use Yuki finishing powder over my foundation and blush. It's beautiful.

Beautiful, subtle eyeshadow, perfect with my cool skin and blue/green eyes. I like it with Alima's Soiree eye liner and dark brown mascara.

Eye Shadow -Alima - Satin Matte Eyeshadow in Dove
Tiltyred 4/30/2012 6:18:00 PM
I quite like this color. It's a beautiful neutral taupe, maybe just a tinge warm. I wear it over a primer made by a different minerals manufacturer and it stays true the entire day and into the night. If you have problems with staying power and you're using a primer, don't be so quick to blame the eye shadow. Switch primers and see what happens. I notice the lady who wears the Lorac primer has had the same disappointing results with every Alima shadow. I really don't think it's the eye shadow... Anyway, I wear Dove as brow powder mostly. I have cool blonde eyebrows and it's nearly impossible to get a good brow color, but this works nicely.

Gels/Soaps -Unlisted Brand - Kirk's Original Coco Castile Soap
Tiltyred 10/7/2011 5:19:00 PM
I have about two dozen bars of this soap stashed away because I'm afraid they'll go out of business some day and then what will I do? The lather is so luxurious! I love that there's no scent, and I love how clean I feel when I use it. I also use a net sponge -- just a couple of passes over the sponge makes enough lather for your whole body. As to washing your lady parts with it -- don't put the bar of soap directly on your skin in that region, and rinse promptly. That has worked for me! I use this soap in the kitchen as well, for washing hands and dishes and for general cleaning.

Other -Unlisted Brand - Baking Soda
Tiltyred 5/29/2011 11:33:00 AM
Last night I washed my hair with 2 tbls baking soda dissolved in 2 cups of water. I just poured the water over my head and massaged my scalp really well. Then I rinsed it with water and then I poured a mixture of 1 tbl apple cider vinegar and 1 cup of water over my head as a final rinse. It was squeaky clean. I let it air dry and then used a little bit of coconut oil rubbed between my palms and finger combed through my hair before I combed it out with a comb. It looks beautiful and it feels great! I'm really surprised! I am doing this because I've become allergic to most hair products and needed to find an all natural way to get my hair clean and conditioned. I do need the coconut oil because my ends are dry. But it is great to know I don't have to put sulphates and parabens and proteins and silicones etc etc on my hair for it to look good!

Mascara -Neutrogena - Healthy Lengths Mascara in 01 Carbon Black
Tiltyred 3/24/2011 10:10:00 PM
It looks pretty on, and I don't find it clumps at all. But omg, don't let it get wet in the slightest. If your eyes water ever, it's all over. It just dissolves and smears like mad.

Styling Products -Carol's Daughter - Hair Milk
Tiltyred 3/22/2011 11:59:00 PM
I use CD Milk shampoo and conditioner and then wrap my head in an Aquis towel. When I take the towel off, my hair is just damp. I put Hair Milk about the size of a nickel in the palm of my hand, and rub my hands together, making sure to get the product between my fingers. Then I smooth it onto my head and comb it through repeatedly until I know all my hair has had some product. Then I roll my hair just to give it some direction and take down the poof. When it's dry, I run my fingers through it to style it. I get silky, shiny curls all over my head, with no bushiness. But even when I first take the towel off my head and look at it, my hair has nicer curl than it did before I started using CD. As the weather heats up, I'll be wearing it natural, and I anticipate it's going to be fine. So this product is great for keeping down poofy hair and for helping your hair complete its S curves, also for products that don't make your head itch, which is big. I'm a sold customer, will definitely buy again and again. This is exactly what my big poofy head needed. Edit: 7 months later, I'm still using this.

Tinted Moisturizer -Olay - Definity Color Recapture with SPF 15
Tiltyred 1/21/2011 1:02:00 PM
This is great as a primer for me. It is too dark and too yellow even in the lightest shade for me to use on its own. The color doesn't match and doesn't flatter my fair, rosy skin. However, I use Estee Lauder DoubleWear foundation, which tends to be heavy if you're not careful, and with this tinted moisturizer as a primer, my DoubleWear glides right over it, so I end up using less foundation. The combination of products gives a dewy matte finish with good coverage that I'm really enjoying. If the color was good for me, I would surely wear it by itself on the weekends running errands. Please, Olay, make a lighter and pinker shade!

Scrubs -Olay - Definity Pore Redefining Scrub
Tiltyred 1/21/2011 12:47:00 PM
I use this cleanser every night, about a quarter sized portion over my face and neck and then I rub it lightly with just the tiniest bit of water from wetting my fingertips. It's like very fine sandpaper, it just polishes. I even use it on my eyelids and under my eyes. It takes off even MAC liquid liner and waterproof mascara with no problem. It rinses clean with warm water and there's no struggle to get all the exfoliant off your face like there is with, for example, St. Ives, or any scrubber with larger particle abrasives. I find the scent unremarkable and pleasant. I agree the packaging is genius, too. I hope this cleanser is never discontinued.

Moisturizers -Olay - Definity Intense Hydrating Cream
Tiltyred 1/21/2011 12:27:00 PM
This product does not have a consistency that would dispense well from a pump, and anyway, I like the jar. I apply this cream after I have cleansed my face, so my hands are clean, and only the tip of one finger goes into the jar to remove about a dime sized amount, which I dot over my face and neck and then lightly spread and let it dry. This is not "cream" as in "oily," and there is no need to rub it in much. It feels light on my face and has an elegant scent. I've used it every night for two weeks (maybe three). I have had no breakouts or irritation and my skin is more luminous and it feels like rose petals.

Treatments (Eye) -Olay - Definity Eye Illuminator
Tiltyred 1/21/2011 11:54:00 AM
I like this Eye Illuminator very much because it's the first product I've ever used that doesn't make my liner and mascara smear over the course of the day. I use less than half a pea sized amount for both eyes, on the eyelid, around and under my eyes. I pat it on and spread it out and let it dry. I wear a little of my foundation over it and it works beautifully all day to make the skin around my eyes appear more smooth and more even colored. It irritated my eyes the first time I used it, but they seem to have gotten used to it or I stopped getting it in my eyes, I don't know which, but either way, it doesn't bother me at all. I took a few lippies off for the price, because I think it should cost half of what it does, and I took off for the packaging, which is cool but without a doubt adds to the price. I will, however, be repurchasing repeatedly. I like this stuff.
