Lipstick -MAC - Cremesheen - Shy Girl
Tigrou 8/9/2010 3:56:00 AM
I was hoping that Shy Girl was going to be a creamier version of NARS Barbarella, which I love but is sheer and doesn't have much staying power. When I swatched Shy Girl it appeared to be a milky peach nude cream, just what I was looking for. Then I tried it ... and it is SO FROSTY !!!! UGH !!! I really try to avoid frost lipsticks, unless the color is super neutral. If I had known that Shy Girl is a frost (Cremesheen makes you think creamy, not frosty), I would have never bought it. Anyway, now that I own it I can tell you that it's not awful - in fact it's quite pretty, especially with a milky gloss on top top downplay the shimmer. But this lipstick is NOT a nude, not even a peachy nude ... it's a PEACH lipstick with gold shimmer/frost. This is definitely a summer color because it would look garish in the winter. I wore it today with purple eyeshadow, gray eyeliner and peach blush. It looks pretty. But I will still be on the lookout for a creamy nude peach lipstick with NO SHIMMER !!!!

Lipstick -NARS - Belle De Jour

Love this lipstick. It's a great nude and has pretty good staying power. I didn't find that it dried out my lips like it did for some reviewers. I love nude lipsticks and this is in my top 3 for sure!

Blush -NARS - Zen
Tigrou 1/27/2010 9:52:00 AM
Hmmmmm. I love NARS blushes for their pigmentation and the fact that they are so finely milled, but I am very conscious of which shades I can and cannot wear. Because I have reddish tones in my skin, any red blushes are a big NO for me which means I can't wear Outlaw, Mounia, Taos, Dolce Vita and Exhibit A. As neutral as Zen appears in the pan, it DOES have a rosy undertone to it. Some of you are saying orange, but if you swipe it with a white cotton ball, rub it on your skin, and see what color is left on the cotton, it's a rose color (great trick to know the undertone of a blush by the way). I tried it on anyway, but it's true that the color is too rosy for me, like a rosy bronzer. If I didn't have red in my skin, I might like this blush. But as it is, it's not very flattering on me. I much prefer Madly, the most perfect neutral blush on earth for my skintone, which has a cool pink undertone but goes on more neutral than Zen (may not be good for all skintones however). NOTE: It is so rosy, I can't imagine using it as a contour, regardless of skintone So I will pass on this color.

Eye Shadow -MAC - Haux Eye Shadow
Tigrou 1/21/2010 11:29:00 AM
I was leary about buying a matte eyeshadow, but I'm so glad I did! It gives such a natural effect, even if you build it up for a dramatic look. It is a great compliment to my hazel-green eyes. I know that MAC describes it as a rosy brown or something like that, but it looks plummy purple on me which is great. It is a little chalky and doesn't go on evenly, which means I have to blend, blend, blend, but I find that it's worse if I apply it directly on top of my UDPP. So now I apply Jest all over the eye and then Haux on the lid and in the crease. I have this in a make-it-yourself palette with Shale, Jest and Quarry.

Eye Shadow -MAC - Jest Eyeshadow
Tigrou 1/21/2010 11:24:00 AM
I use this as a base/highlight color. It looks very natural and blends in with my skintone. It looks really peachy in the pan, but it softens once applied. Still peachy, but softer. The more you build it up, the more frosty and shiny it gets, so be careful! I made a mistake the first time I tried it and now I apply less for daytime. But if I wanted something more shiny for evening, I would build it up for a different effect. It has a good color pay-off and is very silky. I love it!

Loose Powders -NARS - Beach
Tigrou 1/9/2010 11:58:00 AM
Love this stuff! Beach matches my skin perfectly. I love how finely milled this powder is. Flawless. I apply it with my MAC 187 after applying my DIOR Nude Skin Hydrating foundation and my skin looks amazing. This will last forever! Love it. Best loose powder I have ever tried.

Pressed Powders -NARS - Pressed Powder
Tigrou 1/9/2010 11:54:00 AM
I am on my second one. Even though I seem to hit pan in the middle pretty quickly, I only go through one every six months with everyday multiple use. I use it in Beach which matches my skin perfectly. The power is so finely milled that it just melts into my skin, and it keeps my oily skin shine free for hours. I have a few "must have" products, products that I love to death and cannot live without. This is definitely one of those products. You can apply it with the sponge it comes with, a puff, or a skunk brush or even a foundation brush. Some people complain about the sponge but I like it. I also love the huge mirror it comes with. This is not a foundation powder, it is pretty light, however it covers pretty well.

Lipstick -Sephora - Lip Attitude - Star in Funky Beige 23
Tigrou 1/9/2010 11:32:00 AM
Lip Attitude Star is a shimmer lipstick, and is kinda sheer and glossy. Funky Beige is described as a champagne shimmer but I find it's a teeny bit pinky. It looks superb with a shimmery pink gloss on top! Super shiney and just gorgeous.

Lipstick -Sephora - Lip Attitude - Chic in Luxury Beige 23
Tigrou 1/9/2010 11:28:00 AM
Great nude lip color. Lip Attitude Chic lipsticks are cream lipsticks and have a lot of pigment. Luxury Beige is described as a warm tanned beige. It isn't too warm though. Just enough to keep you from looking like a corpse. If I want it to look more pink, I just add a pink gloss on top.

Lipstick -Sephora - Lip Attitude - Glamour in Innocent Beige 19
Tigrou 1/9/2010 11:23:00 AM
The Lip Attitude -Glamour lipsticks are sheer. Innocent Beige is a very sheer light beige that is pigmented enough to cover the pink in my lips, but light enough that it feels a bit like a gloss. You can wear a gloss on top as well. The color is perfect for me. On the Sephora site, it is described as a sheer light peach nude.

Blush -NARS - Deep Throat
Tigrou 12/25/2009 10:46:00 AM
Love NARS blushes - they have no equal. They are so finely milled, highly pigmented, and the package lasts forever and comes with a mirror. Deep Throat is a nice peachy shade for those who find Gilda and Gina are a bit too orange on them. I look fresh faced with this blush and love to wear it with a natural eye and peachy lips. Very pretty shade.

Liquid -Christian Dior - Diorskin Nude Hydrating Makeup SPF 10 [DISCONTINUED]
Tigrou 12/25/2009 10:40:00 AM
Tried this as a sample first, and I'm glad I found this stuff! I have oily skin that seems to get worse when I apply foundation. With this one however, my skin stays nice even though it's a hydrating formula. I'm starting to think that oily skin gets worse with mattifying foundations because it dries up your skin and then your skin overcompensates by producing more oils. But I digress. This foundation makes me look like I have perfect skin. I apply it with my MAC skunk brush and it looks great. Love that it has a pump too. I pump it into my palm, swirl my brush in it, and then apply. I will be wearing this all the time now, because powder foundation just doesn't do it for me anymore. I like looking more polished and I also find I need to use less make-up elsewhere to get the same effect. UPDATE: I have tried applying this with my fingers, a foundation brush, a skunk brush and a sponge, and I have found that the sponge application gives me the best results by far. EDIT 030 is a perfect match to my skin tone!

Eye Shadow -MAC - Trax
Tigrou 12/25/2009 10:35:00 AM
I bought this to do a smokey eye with. I have hazel green eyes and I was looking for something to bring out the green. When I got it home and put it on, I thought it looked very similar to NARS Ondine (which I already have) so I was kinda disappointed. But after building up the color and adding liner and mascara, I found that it was quite different and actually has a different effect on the color of my eyes, making them look like a deep aqua green (yippee). This is definately a keeper. **If you want a great smokey eye nude face look, try Trax, Hue lipstick with a gloss and NARS Madly blush. Flawless! EDIT: I find that this doesn't go on very evenly. I really have to blend it so it doesn't look splotchy. But the results are worth the extra effort.

Lipstick -MAC - Hue
Tigrou 12/25/2009 10:27:00 AM
I bought this to wear with a heavy eye, as my lips are very pigmented and so I look too made up if I don't "nude out" my lips. Up to this point, I had been using concealer with a lip gloss on top, but I found that it didn't wear off evenly and so I'd have some patches of nude and some patches of bare lip and it just looked weird. Cut to my visit to MAC. I went to buy an eyeshadow and was kinda snooping around the lipsticks while I was waiting for someone to wait on me. I tried the usual suspects (Hug Me, Jubilee) but then Hue caught my eye and I tried it. I wasn't sure what I thought of it (I wasn't wearing any eye make-up look at the time, so it was hard to judge) but at the last second I decided to buy it. I wore it later that night with a heavy eye look and gloss on top of itand it looks fab! Very natural and sophisticated. Covers my lip pigment but isn't too heavy. I'm very happy with this lipstick. EDIT: I don't know why I said it doesn't look good without gloss - it does. It's a very pretty lipstick by itself. And now that I have been playing around with it, I've found that I don't need a really heavy eye for it to look good. As long as I have eyeshadow, eyeliner and mascara on, it looks great. When it wears of (after lunch, etc) I feel like I don't look as polished. But when I reapply, everything looks great again.

Liquid -NARS - Sheer Glow Foundation
Tigrou 12/20/2009 2:13:00 PM
OK, first I have to say something to all of those who gave this product a bad rating because it doesn't offer enough coverage - HELLO!!!!! It's supposed to be SHEER! It's even called SHEER Glow foundation. So how does this happen that you buy a SHEER foundation, try it on, and then are SHOCKED because it's ... GASP ... SHEER! Anyway, I liked this product. I was looking for a sheer foundation to wear for eveings out because my skin is pretty even and during the day I just wear powder. This product gives a nice glow and even coverage. I recommend it to anyone looking for a SHEER foundation and not a full coverage one.
