Fragrances -2 Grrrls - Forsaken EDP inspired by True Blood

I wasn’t crazy upon first whiff but figured I would wear it a few days to see if it grows on me. Ive been wearing it for 11 hours (yes, it does have lasting power) and I’ve decided to send it back tomorrow and claim “allergic reaction”. To me, it smells like powder and musk…and dead flowers. Reminds me a bit of Kat Von D’s “Sinner” but without the booziness. It’s not a terrible “omg, I have to wash this off now!” scent but for me, it’s not a keeper. Such a shame too. Such a neat bottle. Next to try: Lady Gaga’s “Fame”!

BB Cream -Maybelline - Dream Fresh 8-in-1 BB Cream

I loved the "all in one" aspect of this product and it has nice coverage but it's not for someone with an oily complexion like me. After a couple hours, I have to spritz my bangs with dry shampoo and use about 10 oil absorbing papers. So, Im just going to stick with blending Oil of Olay "sensitive" with SPF with a tinted foundation. I get the same results: coverage, moisture, and SPF without the oil slick.

Polishes -Nailene - Sensationail Color Gel Polish

I waited a while before posting a review because I wanted to try out a few things first. For one, I’ve had great luck with CND and not such great luck with GELISH when it comes to staying power. The latter tended to peel off after a day or two. This product, however, works just as well if not better than CND and it’s MUCH more affordable. Following the instructions exactly, the gel stays on for more than two weeks. Actually, it would probably stay on longer except that by that point, my nails have grown out so I decide to take the gel off. I also tried this out on my toenails (yep! My feet fit inside the lamp!) with fantastic results. I like the fact that this is an LED lamp versus a UV lamp too. One, because LED doesn’t harm the skin and also because LED lamps can be used to cure any kind of gel polish whereas UV lamps are limited. Obviously, this is convenient because this product has limited colors but I’m able to use colors from other gel lines (like CND and Gelish). My jury is still out on using regular nail polish over the gel though. I don’t think the regular nail polish itself breaks down the gel but the polish still chips and I think the remover--even if it’s non-acetone--is probably what compromises the gel. PS- more than 2 weeks have gone by and my toes still look perfect!

Lips -Revlon - Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stain- Rendezvous
TheeOriginalBooBooKatie 6/22/2012 12:10:00 AM
I rushed around to six different drugstores to find this when it came out. I like the color (summery orange) but it’s a very light stain and on me, the color fades faster around the outside of the mouth and “pools” in the center. That’s a bit backwards, isn’t it?? It’s soft like a crayon; neither cakey nor glossy. I just wish the color would remain even. For the price though, it’s not bad. I will continue to use it but probably under other lipsticks or glosses. Wont buy it again but neither will I throw it out or trade it.

Eyes -Unlisted Brand - Roux - Lash & Brow Tint

Not going to lie! It took me a few tries to get this down to a science. Here’s my method: use a Q-tip to outline around your eyebrows with a thin layer of Vaseline (you are dying your brows, not your face). Using a clean Q-tip, dip one end into the bottle labeled “#1” (easy enough) and apply to your eyebrows (try not to smear the Vaseline. Let that dry about 30 seconds before dipping the other end of the Q-tip into the bottle labeled (#2, this is the dye). You might want to squeeze out the excess fluid by rolling the Q-tip around the mouth of the bottle before applying because, again, you don’t want to dye your face. Carefully apply the dye to your brows and let it dry for 30seconds to one minute. Then I prefer to use a moistened cotton pad to gently dab (or wipe!) away the excess dye as well as the Vaseline. If things got messy, use the #3 bottle (dye remover) but otherwise, the Vaseline should have kept things in check. The box states that the color lasts up to 6 weeks but I re-apply it every 7-10 days. I suppose it might last longer if I let the dye sit longer than one minute but I don’t want it to look like I colored in my eyebrows wit a black Sharpie. Oh, and for the record, I do NOT use this stuff on my eyelashes! If you have longer lashes, you might give it a go but no matter how I tried it, I couldn’t keep the dye from stinging my eyes. I’ll just stick with mascara, thanks. Happy tinting!

Eyeliner -Revlon - Colorstay gel eyeliner - brown

Agreed on all points! I was seduced by the sleek packaging and marketing (and a positive review in a magazine) but I'm sticking with L'oreal Telescopic for now. This product never claimed to be waterproof but it DID claim 24 hour wear so I figured it could keep up. It began to crease and run after only 5 hours. Poorly designed applicator brush aside, this formula just doesnt deliver on it's promise to stay put.

Lip Treatments -Maybelline - Baby Lips lip balm

I give just about every new lip balm on the market a shot, this one included. All I can say is "eh." I'm going to stick with QTica Intense Lip Repair. Been using it for 3 years and I haven't found anything else that comes close to its lasting hydration and the smoothness it gives my lips. Yes, it's about $7 a tube but one tube lasts at least 6 months.

Polishes -Sally Hansen - salon effects
TheeOriginalBooBooKatie 11/7/2011 9:13:00 PM
I would buy these again ONLY if they were the opaque effects because for some reason, those are less...I guess "flimsy" is an appropriate word. When I tried the red and black plaid salon effects on my fingernails, I too had problems with the film misbehaving like saran wrap: wrinkling and peeling. The more I tried to smooth it out, the worse it looked. I also purchased a limited edition Halloween version of the black skulls on white background. These films were thicker so they didnt fold and wrinkle like the the ones I put on my fingers. In fact, it took a bit of time but using manicure scissors, I cut these strips down to fit my toenails. Two weeks later and only one toe has shown any sign of wear around the edge. Whether you are putting them on your toes or your fingers, they ARE kind of a pain to apply (no quick manicures here!) and the price should be half of what is charged.
