Hair Color -Clairol - Professional - 7th Stage Cream Highlighter
rated 5 of 5

I've used the now discontinued Wella Creme oil bleach kit which was ultimately too gentle to get my hair to the pale yellow stage and Wella Wellite with 20 and 30 volume developer and it just didn't life like 7th stage does. My natural hair color is about a level 6-7 strawberry blond and I use three packets of activator along with 20 volume developer and leave the bleach on my roots under a plastic cap anywhere from 30-45 minutes. I use heat, usually until my arm gets super tired from maneuvering the blow-dryer around my head. I tone with wella white lady toner and bam I'm done! I really love having platinum hair and it just got too expensive to maintain going to a salon and I was never happy with the results (I usually had to sit through multiple bleachings because they never got it right the first time!) but now I can do my own hair for dirt cheap and have it come out wonderfully! Now if only getting the back of my head weren't such a challenge!

Mascara -MAC - Zoom lash
rated 5 of 5
TheRemodeller 12/15/2011 5:26:00 PM

I bought this in Green is Green. I've been looking for a good green mascara for a while but with no success until now. I have the problem with a lot of mascaras even if I don't put any product on my lower lashes I end up with a smudgy mess under my eyes but that doesn't happen with this one! I enjoy the goopeier formula because I have thin blonde lashes and I can't use dryer formulas. I love the color and the packaging for the green mascara is really neat and monochromatic. Love it but I'm sad they're discontinuing it.

Eyeliner -MAC - Liquidlast Liner - Point Black
rated 5 of 5
TheRemodeller 1/29/2011 11:49:00 AM

This is my HG liner! I love liquid liner but whatever I use it always ends up smudging and running near my tear-ducts every time, gel liners are the same. I used to carry q-tips in my purse so I could periodically remove the smudged black. But this stuff doesn't budge! Its a nice crisp opaque liner. It does take very steady hands and if you haven't worked with liquid liner before I wouldn't recommend it. The brush is as a lot of other reviewers said not ideal but I've learned to work with it, I will usually only load up the very tip of the brush as opposed to the whole thing. A lot of people have difficulty removing it but if you have baby oil or ponds cold cream its easy enough to remove and it comes off just like all the other liquid liners I've used. It is literally the ONLY liner that works for me! Mac only has point black on their website but if you call them I was able to order coco bar (other colors are available too) which I am soooo looking forward to!

Eye Shadow -Pure Luxe Cosmetics - shadow liner-All
rated 1 of 5
TheRemodeller 12/8/2009 12:08:00 AM

I ordered 4 full size jars from them along with some blushes and samples. Of the 4 shadows I was able to match 3 of them to colors I already had and the third which is glow in the dark is impossible to apply. Unoriginal and poorly formulated.

Eye Shadow -Pure Luxe Cosmetics - Shadow Liner - Chocomint
rated 1 of 5
TheRemodeller 12/8/2009 12:03:00 AM

I bought this expecting a chocolate brown shadow with mint green shimmer. What I got was a carmel colored shadow with sage green shimmer, and oh yeah... an exact dupe for Aromaleighs Earthen Sage pure hue (discontinued but basically its just repackaged mica) of which I already have a sample.

Brows -Wet 'n' Wild - Brow & liner pencil
rated 5 of 5
TheRemodeller 4/18/2009 11:32:00 PM

Love love love this! I bought this in taupe and it matches my ashey blonde hair perfectly. I've never had it smudge on me either and it has never broken me out. It really is amazing the difference it makes when i have my brows all nice and filled in. All that being said I kinda suck with the application and I have to use one of those little double sided comb brushes a lot but aside from that for 99 cents its really worth a try.

Mascara -Maybelline - Great Lash Mascara
rated 1 of 5
TheRemodeller 2/28/2009 9:06:00 PM

Why is this one of the most popular mascara's? It doesn't do much in the way of lengthening or plumping, and as far as clumping goes... yeah... the deal breaker thoug is the lovely smugey raccoon look it gives me under my eyes, I don't rub them or anything is just breaks down. Not cute.

Misc Beauty Tools -E.L.F. - Mechanical Eyelash Curler
rated 1 of 5
TheRemodeller 2/1/2009 12:03:00 AM

OH MOTHER MARY OF GOD... Why can't I give this a 0? Because it SO deserves it, I bought it because it was $1 and had so many rave reviews. I used it for a little bit but it really didn't do very much but I continued to use it since the revlon one I had was crap... and then today... something horrible happened. I was curling my eyelashes and the thing snaps open super quick wacking my brow bone... and then I looked down at the curler and saw that in addition to wacking me.... it also ripped out some on my eyeleashes... by the root.... and not just some but a lot of them... I now have a spot on my lashline that is completely bare since this curler turned out to be more of an eyelash plucker!

Shampoo -L'Oreal - Vive Pro Nutri Gloss Normal to Fine Hair
rated 1 of 5
TheRemodeller 1/24/2009 11:22:00 PM

This is THE WORST shampoo I have ever used. Ever. My hair was dry and SERIOUSLY gunked up. This shampoo leaves a sticky filmy residue especially near the scalp. No other shampoo I have used has ever done this to my hair... never again.

Shampoo -Organix - Coconut Milk Shampoo
rated 5 of 5
TheRemodeller 1/24/2009 11:14:00 PM

I bought because of the price, the fact that it was sulfate free, and available at the drugstore... and I LOVE the smell of coconut! I haven't had any of the problems other reviews have had with build up (I've had build up with Vive pro nutri gloss.. ugh what a nightmare) but I also don't use the matching daily conditioner, or any daily conditioner for that matter. It leaves my hair clean, smelling nice and in good condition! The egg shaped packaging is also quite cute.

Hair -Sunsilk - ThermaShine Detangling Shine Spray
rated 5 of 5
TheRemodeller 1/24/2009 11:04:00 PM

I picked this up at Walmart for $2.50 and it works like a charm! I got it since I've cut a daily conditioner out of my routine, I instead overnight deep condition once a week to prevent build up, but I get a little aggressive with the towel so my hair has a lot of tangles in it. I spritz this on and comb through my hair before I blow-dry and then spray a little more on again before I straighten, it leaves my hair tangle free and noticeably shinier. Now if only it was coconut scented it would be PERFECT.

Hair Color -Unlisted Brand - Color Oops - Regular Strength Hair Color Remover
rated 4 of 5
TheRemodeller 1/15/2009 1:08:00 AM

I had level 7 ash blonde hair with orange-gold undertone, I used XORA 7.66 hair-color (Oddly enough by developlus the same company that manufactures color oops) with 20 volume developer and it came out TERRIBLE! The cherry red I had envisioned was in reality a plain jane boring drugstore boxed color red, except for the florescent orange like near the scalp... not attractive. So I panicked and went out and purchased COLOR OPPS conditioning formula and it does exactly what it claims to do, it smells terribly but it does take out the color. I knew I would not get back to my natural color since the developer would have lightened my hair but it did take out a significant amount of red and now I'm fairly close to what I was, my hair is however much more copper than it was before. It's available at your local rite-aid and for relatively cheap. If you've had the color in your hair for over a month get the extra strength assuming your hair is still relatively healthy.

Eyeliner -Styli-Style - Line&Seal
rated 5 of 5
TheRemodeller 6/18/2008 8:11:00 PM

THE BEST EYELINER FOR YOUR WATERLINE! I went out to Rite-aid to pick some up after hearing Encore's recommendation and reading the awesome reviews for it here. I usually never use eyeliner on my waterline since many products aren't safe to use and because they smudge all over the place and last for literally only a few minutes anyways. I got one pencil and one in a twist style, since I'm only using it for my waterline I won't need a superfine point so I like the twist, no sharpening, For the lids I'm sticking with Mac's fluidline in black track.

Powders -Aromaleigh - You're A Doll! Finishing Powder in Metamorphosis [DISCONTINUED]
rated 5 of 5
TheRemodeller 6/17/2008 8:36:00 PM

This is my FAVORITE finishing powder by Aromaleigh thus far! It looks like a pale greenish grey in the sifter jar but on the skin its sheer, luminescent, with just a tiny bit of all over shimmer. It did take a little bit of time to learn how to apply it correctly, but now that I have it really is indispensable.

Eye Shadow -MAC - parfait amour shadow
rated 2 of 5
TheRemodeller 6/17/2008 8:30:00 PM

I bought this shade for my senior prom makeup, it looked like a gorgeous color in the pot, however the color payoff is sub par. There are colors VERY similar by other brands that are much cheaper and have the pigmentation that I was expecting but did not get from this shade.
