Foundations -Revlon - Nearly Naked Foundation
rated 3 of 5
TheGoofQueen 3/19/2013 9:00:00 PM

I was hoping this would be a lighter alternative to my usual foundation, but it just hasn't agreed with my skin. Firstly, the color was too dark for me (I bought the lightest possible shade), though I know I have incredibly fair skin anyway it hasn't been a problem with Revlon till now. Second, this product broke me out pretty badly. Third, it's quite runny without a pump, so it's hard to pour out the right amount of product. It gives a nice dewy finish, but my oil pushes it off within the first two hours of wear. I feel like it's a nice idea for a product, gives a good coverage for redness but not anything too heavy, but it's just not the best for me. I might finish up the bottle I have, but I won't be repurchasing.

Pressed Powders -Revlon - ColorStay Pressed Powder in Translucent
rated 3 of 5

I've been using this product for a while now, but my reaction has always been a pretty resounding "meh". It's a good setting powder, but not a great one. It helps control oil, but not as long as perhaps it should, especially for the price. It does also have a tendency to cake in oily areas (especially around the nose). But it's done its job pretty well, sets foundation and gives a good 'flawless' finish, so I'm content to keep repurchasing until I find that elusive HG powder. I also love the packaging, although I think the little window to see the product could be abandoned in favor of a full mirror, but I don't mind that much.

Crème -Revlon - ColorStay Whipped Creme Makeup
rated 5 of 5
TheGoofQueen 1/25/2013 11:06:00 PM

This has been my go-to foundation for at least a year now, if not longer. This product has a great consistency, very light and creamy without collapsing the instant you put it on your skin. I'd say it has a medium coverage - it does a great job at covering redness or small unevenness, but major breakouts or other issues, not so much. I do set this with a powder since I have a pretty oily t-zone, but it still looks fine! I also have pretty acne-prone skin, but this has never once broken me out, which is pretty amazing to me. I have applied it with a cosmetic sponge and a brush, and currently prefer the brush, but I think you could apply this several different ways depending on what works best for you. I do think it's a bit on the pricier side, somewhere in the realm of $13 or so, but I just haven't found anything that works better than it, so for the time being it's definitely worth it!

Moisturizers -Simple - Kind to Skin Vital Vitamin Night Cream
rated 5 of 5
TheGoofQueen 12/25/2012 12:39:00 AM

This is the first night cream I've ever used - I didn't think my oily/acne-prone skin needed one, but I am so glad I decided to give this product a try! It goes on light, but you can really feel it soaking in. It's a nice balance between thick and thin, though the other reviewers are right in saying it probably should be in a pump bottle (I don't personally mind the jar, but I can understand the complaint). I was very worried this would break me out - but I've been using it for several months now and actually, I think my acne is improving! When I wake up in the morning my skin feels refreshed and moisturized, but not greasy (which is completely new to me!). I'm a cheapskate so at about $10 a jar I'm a little squeamish, but going by the amount of product you use it should last me a long time so I'm not as iffy anymore. Definitely a must-try if you're looking for a night cream!

Mascara -Revlon - PhotoReady 3D Volume Waterproof
rated 4 of 5
TheGoofQueen 12/25/2012 12:23:00 AM

I just left a review on the non-waterproof version of this product, but since there are few reviews here and I've recently tried the waterproof version I figured I should post something here as well! I love this product. I have very long, blonde lashes, and this product is excellent at defining my lashes and can build to a great volume (I usually only use one or two coats). This product lives up to its waterproof label: I cry very easily (and frequently), and when I'm done this mascara is still in place! In fact, I tend to be unable to wash it off without some intense scrubbing, but I'm not very worried about that. The brush occasionally grabs too much product, particularly on its tip, but that's easily swiped off on the side. The end of the brush is comprised of more spikes, which is great for getting into the inner and outer corners. I do tend to end up with a weird ring of dried, plastic-y product build up around the bottle of the cap, but it's easily peeled off so it doesn't bother me too much. The colors are excellent and the wear is phenomenal, I never notice any flaking. This product does make your lashes hard or 'crunchy', but that's never bothered me so I love the product anyway. Overall a great mascara to own!

This has been my favorite mascara since it first appeared in stores. Cleansers -Cetaphil - Gentle Skin Cleanser
rated 4 of 5
TheGoofQueen 12/25/2012 12:06:00 AM

I've been using this for about a year now, at night after removing my makeup with a makeup wipe, and it's the perfect way to mop up residue from the wipe and any makeup left behind. It definitely is gentle; I've never tried to remove makeup with it but I'm guessing it's not the best method. My skin always feels very fresh and clean when using this product, never overly tight, which is a plus. Price wise it's maybe a little expensive, but you get so much product that it lasts you forever. My first bottle had a pump top on it, though subsequent bottles haven't, but I just switch the caps out. Overall a great product!

Eye Shadow -Revlon - Colorstay Smoky Shadow Stick
rated 4 of 5
TheGoofQueen 12/17/2012 9:38:00 PM

I have the worst luck with eye shadow products - my eyes are set just right that 90% of eye shadows crease horribly within an hour or so. This product stays put, and can even serve as a way to hold other powder shadows on longer than they'd normally last. However, the stick inside the darker shade broke for me and fell out - not necessarily a problem, if mine hadn't landed in the toilet. :( The price is also a bit disconcerting, approximately $7 for only two shades, but not too bad. Overall a good product, and I would purchase again!

Treatments -Aussie - 3 Minute Miracle
rated 5 of 5
TheGoofQueen 12/16/2012 6:33:00 PM

When I first saw how cheap this product was, I was very skeptical of its quality. But after reading pages and pages of reviews absolutely RAVING about its effectiveness, I just had to give it a try. And I'm so incredibly glad I did. This stuff works WONDERS, and smells fantastic to boot! The coconut scent lasts almost all day, and the product gives me great moisture and fullness without weighing down my super-fine hair, even when used several days in a row. The packaging is very convenient, a simple squeeze bottle with no flip cap. Initially I was worried about spilling since there is no way to technically 'close' the bottle, but I've never had a drop go to waste. If you're looking for your first deep conditioner, or even just a replacement, you can't afford NOT to give this little beauty a try!

Treatments -Unlisted Brand - Extra Strength Hair Color Remover - Color Oops
rated 4 of 5
TheGoofQueen 12/16/2012 6:25:00 PM

I've been dyeing my hair red for about nine months now, and needed to get back to my original hair color for a play to be performed in April. Not wanting to destroy my hair, I knew traditional bleaches and stripping treatments weren't my first option, so I researched a couple other options and came across the reviews for this product. Now I'm sitting here with basically my natural hair color again! WOW! This product does exactly what it says it will do - my hair still has a little tinge of red in it (warnings of this ARE included in the packaging), but my natural hair is blonde with red highlights so it fits perfectly! My hair also doesn't feel damaged - maybe a little dry at the ends, but nothing a good deep conditioner won't fix. For $13 at Walgreens, it's a little pricey for my blood but considering the job it did I'm very pleased! As several people have noted, it DOES have a pretty pungent smell, but I think it was comparable to other hair colors/perms I've smelled. So unless you're very sensitive to smell it shouldn't bother you too much. Overall a fantastic product, but I would definitely recommend performing the strand test, even if you don't normally do it! This seems like a product that really differs according to hair texture/thickness, but if you follow the directions it will do its job, and do it PHENOMENALLY!!
