Fragrances -Guerlain - La Petite Robe Noire
rated 1 of 5
ThatLadyNextDoor 9/10/2012 10:26:00 AM

Wow, Guerlain, WHAT HAPPENED?!! I did not expect this from YOU! The scent is overpowering. Way too much going on! The notes don't blend well, including the picture on the bottle, the name...everything! It doesn't smell like high-end perfume. This is something you could see in drugstores. The scent is cloying. There's no way you can wear this on a date night or black-tie event because people around you will get away. Honestly, IDK where you can wear this cologne except spraying it in your bathroom as a room spray. I'm glad I got a sample of this! Try before you buy.

Fragrances -Victoria's Secret - Pink Warm & Cozy
rated 5 of 5
ThatLadyNextDoor 8/28/2012 11:01:00 AM

Whoa, this stuff smells so freakin' good! I actually bought this online without even smelling it. I saw the glowing reviews and trusted them. I know it sounds crazy, but this stuff smells just like the way it's named after - Warm & Cozy! To describe it to you - it smells like what Aquolina Pink Sugar should smell like, but without all the loudness. Kind of like Aquolina's innocent sister..LOL..This scent is almost similar, but it's more inviting. You can wear this during the day without feeling self-conscious about the loudness. You know what else it awesome about this fragrance? The lasting power! I've been wearing this for 5 hrs. now and it still smells fresh. Body mists never last, but this one does. I'm very impressed about this body mist. It's a beautiful fall scent, but also great during summer as well. And, yes, men are drawn to it. IDK why - maybe it's the vanilla-laced-with-caramel notes? It has an innocent come-hither scent. If you've never tried it, I suggest getting a travel-size. You can never go wrong with those. But, like I said before, it smells similar to Aquolina, but more innocent. Would I buy this again? You betcha! Even if I'm 99 yrs. old. VS better not get rid of this because it's one if their gorgeous scents.

Concealers -Lancome - Effacernes
rated 5 of 5
ThatLadyNextDoor 12/30/2011 7:46:00 PM

Lancome, where have you been all my life? For more than a decade, I have always passed the Lancome counters. I've never purchased any foundations, concealers, or powders from them. Maybe one lipstick. Here's my experience: When I turned 30, I was starting to notice dark circles under my eyes. It's genetic so even with 10 hours of sleep, they'll still be there. I have tried so many high to low end products it's unreal to how much I've collected & spent! I've tried Revlon, Maybelline, Avon, Hard Candy, Mark, MAC, Merle Norman, Bobbi Brown, Givenchy, Benefit, YSL, Stila...OMG...I can go on and on..I think I have bought concealers in every brand out there. For the longest time, I was using Bobbi Brown's Creamy Concealer. I liked it, but, it somehow failed on me near the end. It was starting to cake up and the staying power was a joke. I think just about every concealer I've purchased was a joke. Not this, though...OMG.. What makes this concealer stand out? Well, it lives up to its name. It stays put and blends well. I have no problems with it creeping up into the lines under my eyes. It works! You only need a little bit. Make sure you wear a good eye cream b/c it may not spread well. I've been using this for 2 months. For reference, I'm NC40 and wear Camee. Btw, I've never used this to cover pimples b/c I don't think it's a good idea. I prefer blemish concealers like Clinique Clearing Concealer or Mark Save the Day. Ever since then, I have purchased all kinds of Lancome products. I really like their Teint Idole Ultra foundation (Bisque 5). I'll have to review that soon. Overall, I HIGHLY recommend this product to the ones who suffer from dark circles. It's a little pricey, but I think about all the money I've spent over time finding the 'perfect' concealer, is totally worth it.

Concealers -Givenchy - Mister Light
rated 1 of 5
ThatLadyNextDoor 10/30/2011 11:00:00 PM

I really love this concealer. It does wonders for dark undereye circles. I own so many concealers. I've went above and beyond just looking for that perfect one. One day, when I went to Sephora, an SA came up to me and asked if I needed help on anything. I told I was looking for a concealer to cover dark circles, but doesn't sink in lines. She said her HG was Givenchy Mister Light. I laughed because at the name...who would name a concealer with the name Mister?? LOL Anyway, she color-matched me and I'm a Mister Biscuit and I was on LOVE! It concealed, didn't settle into the wrinkles, and stayed on for hours after she applied it. I had to buy it! My only drawback is the clicker pen. I hate it! If I'm going to pay $33 for a concealer I expect a better container. I wish it would've came in a tube because it's more sanitary. I don't even use the brush that came with it b/c it just seems like a bad idea to wash it and have water seep into the concealer pen. So, I just swipe my concealer brush. ********* EDIT (12/30/11)********* I've subtracted the lippies...This product is no longer working for me. It's still a great corrector, BUT the pen really sucks. I hate it! The damn thing exploded on my shirt when I tried to gently twist the pen one day. BE CAREFUL!!! I can't believe I paid so much money for this to only find it exploding massive & wasted product on me. To make it worse, I had to take my shirt to the cleaners and it didn't even remove the stain 100%. Givenchy SERIOUSLY needs to put this in a tube b/c I'm not buying this anymore. What a horrible experience!

Palettes -Urban Decay - Book of Shadows Vol. IV
rated 5 of 5
ThatLadyNextDoor 9/9/2011 7:35:00 PM

I own all of the BOS palettes that UD has ever made. This is, by far, THE BEST! Why? Because there's hardly any glittery shadows. The only ones I see are: Gunmetal, Midnight Cowgirl, Gravity, & Midnight Rodeo. But, the Midnight Rodeo has more glitter. The other ones aren't too over-the-top glittery. The palette itself is worth it. The price sounds crazy (HELLO, $64 bucks!!), but you're getting quite a bit of surprises inside. I love that it comes with a full-size 24/7 Liquid Eyeliner in Perversion. You get a hefty amount of UDPP in a sample-size, plus a Supercurl Curling mascara (black) that's also a good size. And an awesome portable speaker for your phone, USB cord, audio cable, and "Get the Look" QR card. The attached butterflies are too cute! The shadows are TDF! They're very pigmented, smooth as ever, and blendable as always. The 10 new shadows are gorgeously made. My favorite out of all is Bust, sort of like MAC Satin Taupe, but lighter. The shadows are: Blue Bus (periwinkle blue sheen), Gunmetal (gunmetal gray with silver glitter), Cobra (smoky green with gold shimmer), Baked (rich golden bronze shimmer), Bender (moss green sheen), Gravity (violet with silver glitter), Lost (neutral brown shimmer), Hijack (metallic muted teal), Midnight Cowgirl (golden beige with gold glitter), Sin (light shimmering champagne), Midnight Rodeo (beige shimmer with silver glitter), Crystal (pale icy blue shimmer), Bust (taupe sheen), Missionary (light taupe sheen), Skimp (ivory peach sheen), Zephyr (pearly cream sheen) FYI: I happen to be 33 yrs. old and the colors are PERFECT! It seems like the last few BOS palettes didn't seem to look good for my age. I just can't pull off bright, bold colors, or glitters. But, this one I can handle. Very office-friendly colors! There's plenty of neutrals, but also plenty for going out, etc. I LOVE IT! If you're a BOS collector, BUY IT!! It's fabuloso!! : )

Palettes -Tarte - Tarte for True Blood
rated 3 of 5
ThatLadyNextDoor 8/1/2011 10:40:00 PM

I own a lot of Tarte palettes. This one is okay. Nothing to rave about IMO. I noticed some of the colors in this palette are similar to a lot of the palettes that Tarte made over the years. The colors aren't too pigmented. You have to keep applying some of the eyeshadows to see the color. Also, some of the colors have glitter. I'm past 30 and glitter eyeshadows are just too juvenile for me. I find myself tapping my brush to get the glitter out, but it's wasting the eyeshadow. It's a cute palette though. The other products that came in this palette are okay as well. Whatever you do, DO NOT put the eyeliner into your waterline!! BIG no-no, especially if you're wearing contacts. It will burn the hell out of your eyes. It's a good eyeliner, but BE CAREFUL! It's also really, really soft so use a light hand when applying. The primer is really nice. I will have to buy a full-size one because it's perfect. I actually like it better than my UDPP. Plus, it's natural. It works just as well as UDPP also. The mascara that came with this is okay. Tarte mascaras just aren't my thing. But, all in all, this palette is nothing to hurry and buy. But, if you're a glitter fan, I suggest you buy this thing. This is perfect for teens and tweens, but not someone old like me. I bought it because I'm a sucker for LE palettes. I just couldn't pass this up.

Makeup Brushes -Real Techniques by Samantha Chapman - Brush Collection Core Collection
rated 5 of 5
ThatLadyNextDoor 7/10/2011 2:28:00 PM

I will make this short and sweet, but I wished Real Techniques were made before Sigma brushes. These brushes are WAY, WAY better than any of my Sigmas. They're also cheaper and do a better than than all of the brushes I own. I bought just about all the RT brushes. All are PERFECT!! I love the case that it came with. Will I ever purchase this set again? Heck yeah, I would!

Makeup Brushes -Real Techniques by Samantha Chapman - Stippling Brush
rated 5 of 5
ThatLadyNextDoor 6/25/2011 12:49:00 AM

This is, by far, the BEST foundation brush I've ever purchased!! I'm a big fan of Pixiwoo's tutorials. When Samantha mentioned her brushes I was super excited! This was the first brush I bought due to the glowing reviews here. This brush applies foundation like a breeze. It's soft and easy to clean. The price is UNBELIEVABLE!! I love it so much I purchased a back-up just in case. Ever since I bought this, I've been buying the rest of Sam's brushes. I want all of them! It does what it says. If you're thinking of buying a stippling brush for your foundation, consider this because it's cheap. I love how it's ergonomically made to stand and fit perfectly on the hand for easy application. I LOVE IT!! ******EDIT****** I found that this is also WONDERFUL for applying cream blushes and face masks. Another great review!

Polishes -Sally Hansen - Nail Art Pen
rated 1 of 5
ThatLadyNextDoor 6/11/2011 1:41:00 PM

I just bought this because I'm a fan of doing a french manicure and pedicure during the summer months. Each time I run into this product at a Wal-Mart or Target I always check it out, but I never end up buying. One day, I just gave in and bought it. I bought the white shade. It's in a pen, it's portable, and it dries quick...what more can a girl want, right? Well, I fell for it! Yup, sure did. I'm an idiot. I know it. I've been an MUAer for many years now. I can't believe I didn't read the reviews like I ALWAYS do! There goes my $7 and so and so dollars!! I could've bought a lipstick, but NO!! I fell for this piece of crap. Why do I dislike this product so much? Well, I did what it exactly what it says in the box or just like any other NP application - put base coat, NP, and top coat. After one day, the white completely started chipping in little chunks. JUST ONE DAY! Sheesh!! I was being careful too. I didn't have any other problems like what everyone stated about it being runny or clear-ish. It's like I just bought a high-end paper fluid. It looks and feels just like it. So, take my advice - DO NOT BUY THIS!! If it's free or only a dollar - perfect! But, for $7 or so dollars - NO, NO! Next time, I'll just buy some regular white polish and buy a thin art brush from an art supply store.

Eye Shadow -Make Up For Ever - Aqua Black
rated 5 of 5
ThatLadyNextDoor 4/2/2011 6:14:00 PM

Whoa! This is AMAZING stuff!! I discovered this while browsing through Sephora for something waterproof. This came up, but I was skeptical. It mentioned it was eyeshadow, but when I read the reviews here, most of the girls used it for eyeliner. So, I'm thinking..okay, why not? I grew so tired searching for that perfect waterproof eyeliner. I've used UD 24/7 eyeliner, but that didn't seem to work, plus it made my eyelids itch. I bought this to try. Let me tell you...love at first try! This is the winner! How long have I been using this? 2 months! I've cried, I've swam, worked out, danced my butt off to a sweat...to my surprise, NO BUDGING!! Yes! Not only do I use this for eyeliner, I use this to use as a base and also to fill in my brows. I have black hair so I'm lucky enough to use it like that, but be careful not to overdo it or else you'll look like a clown. I love this stuff. I hope MUFE doesn't discontinue this or else I will go crazy!

Cleansers -Neutrogena - Naturals - Purifying Facial Cleanser
rated 5 of 5
ThatLadyNextDoor 3/21/2011 11:24:00 PM

I'm reviewing this for the Purifying Facial Cleanser. You know what? For a drugstore brand, it's not bad at all. I was eager to buy this as soon as I saw it being advertised on TV. It was one of those impulse buy moments where I had to try it! I'm so glad I tried this! I was a little skeptical about it because I wasn't sure if it would work for me because I was afraid my skin would break out because it mentioned it had fragrance. I always freak out when I see fragrance in any skincare. I'm a long-time acne sufferer. I use this after I take my makeup off with Boot's wipes. Then, I use this and it does a great job cleaning my face up. I've been using this for a month and I have had any breakouts. I'm very surprised by that! I was using a Vichy acne wash before and I broke out more with taht than this. I'm loving this product. It's perfect!! I hope Neutrogena does not discontinue. It's perfect!

Mascara -Maybelline - Lash Stiletto - Waterproof
rated 5 of 5
ThatLadyNextDoor 3/21/2011 11:09:00 PM

I must be one of the oddballs here, but I own quite a bit of mascaras from high to low-end. Quite to my surprise, I find myself reaching for this. I've read a lot of the reviews here and it looks like everyone has problems with clumping. Just about all mascaras clump, high or low price. It's all about the tissue-wiping technique that you hear in magazines that work for me. I sometimes use my MAC 205 mascara fan brush. That seems to help. What I love about this product is the way my lashes look. It adds volume & length while keeping the curls. I have superfine, limp Asian lashes that cannot hold curls whatsoever. I've used all kinds of mascara and not one holds them for long periods of time. But, I find this one suits me best. I've also noticed that it doesn't transfer to my skin. Some mascaras do that to me. I blink and it leaves traces of my lashes under my eyes. This does not. Also, I like that it doesn't flake like a lot of mascaras do. For the price, I will keep buying this. I'm glad I picked this out. It was kind of an impulse buy, but it was worth it. I LOVE it!!

Eyeliner -Revlon - Colorstay Eyeliner
rated 5 of 5
ThatLadyNextDoor 2/20/2011 4:02:00 PM

RAVE, RAVE, RAVE about this product!! A fellow MUAer mentioned this product to me and it was beyond my expectations. Especially due to the fact it's a drugstore product. It stays for hours (hello UD), doesn't fade (hello MAC), and doesn't transfer (hello Bobbi). Ladies, it does what it says. I happen to have oily lids and most eyeliners smudge on me. This is my HG for life!! FYI, I bought the pencil liner in black, not the liquid pen. I don't care for liquid pens that much. I sure hope Revlon doesn't discontnue this product or else I will cause chaos..LOL...Great product at a great price! I love it!!

Powder -Merle Norman - Luxiva Purely Mineral Makeup
rated 1 of 5
ThatLadyNextDoor 2/15/2011 6:30:00 PM

I hate to be a killjoy here, but this product didn't work for me. When the SA applied it on me I loved it. In fact, I purchased it that same day. But, within a few days I noticed some horrible acne all over my face. I also noticed my face looked like an oil slick as well after wearing this for a few hours. It also oxidized making my face look orange. I tried it with & without primer. Both failed on me. It's good to see many glowing reviews, but I'm not one of them. I swapped mine a while back. I will NEVER touch this stuff again!!

Eyes -Ardell - LashGrip Adhesive for Strip Lashes
rated 1 of 5
ThatLadyNextDoor 2/14/2011 9:40:00 AM

Very disappointing!!! I wish this glue worked for me. I ran out of my Revlon adhesive glue and had this on hand. I went out one night with my date and noticed my lashes were falling out as we were talking. UGH!! Btw, I've been wearing falsies for many years and I know it's the way I put them on. I put enough glue to adhere them, but for some reason this stuff did not stay put! The product mentioned it was waterproof, but that's a lie too. Why? We went to the movies to watch a sappy, sad movie and I cried a little. Not surprising, the damn lashes popped halfway off. OMG, I was pissed! It's a good thing I had a toothpick and this stupid glue with me. I ran straight to the bathroom to re-do my lashes. To make this story short, DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT!!! It's awful, it's messy, it smells like fish, and doesn't adhere for long periods of time. Get the Revlon brush-on adhesive. It's WAY better than this. For just a few more bucks it will save you all the trouble.
