Mascara -L'Oreal - Waterproof Voluminous Carbon Black
ThatIsNOTHerShade 11/27/2011 8:13:00 PM
I do not generally have a large problem w/ mascara smudging (combo-dry/use eye primer), but this mascara has been one of the WORST offenders in that arena for me. I'm having bad flashback's of Prestige Lash Matrix...ugh.
The old formulation of this blush was HG for me (matte and muted baby pink); I just received a replacement and it's definitely shimmery, pinker (less dusty), and I detect micro-glitter...not sure what I think about it yet, but I'll re-review after giving it a go.
EDITED: I used to love the full-sized version of this product (hated the mini), but after giving it a go again recently, I feel they may have reformulated? The mascara simply does NOT actually tube anymore on me AND smudges. Will not repurchase!
The mini of Too Faced Lash Injection Mascara performs NOTHING like the full-sized version. Yes, it's smaller & I do prefer the application of the brush (it's less dense and imparts better separation), but the mascara itself doesn't tube!?
Unlike the full-sized version, the Mini version smudges on me, imparts just a moderate amount of volume, and literally does not form tubes, removing like...traditional mascara. What a huge disappointment!
I will never buy this again...though I will definitely consider re-purchasing the full-sized!
Powder -Everyday Minerals - foundation semi-matte formula
ThatIsNOTHerShade 4/18/2010 5:40:00 PM
I'm a fair neutral/cool shade (NW15/20) and found a perfect match in the Cool "Multi-Tasking Neutral" shade. I have tried other Everyday Minerals formulas (Glowy & Intensive), and this is my favorite. It's glowy like real skin but nothing outright noticeable (even in direct sunlight). The coverage I would say is light-medium but buildable.
Unfortunately, this foundation was just TOO drying for me (exacerbated eczema on my combo-dry face). I would definitely recommend it to anyone oilier or who has good luck with mineral makeup in general though.
Moisturizers -Eucerin - Redness Relief Soothing Night Creme

Although a nice product, I found it was a tad too rich for my combination-dry skintype.
Also on the downside, as far as reducing redness (which I do have), I can't say it did anything miraculous other than soothe like any rich moisturizer can/will. Still, it's a nice-feeling product and would work for those with dry or very dry skins in my opinion. It is also free of fragrance, which is very important for me.
It is a little pricey for a drugstore skincare item in my opinion, but also pretty concentrated--so a little goes a long way!
Lip Treatments -Mary Kay - Satin Lips - Lip Mask only

This stuff ROCKS. You just smooth the slightly gritty-textured cream on, scrub it around a bit and let it sit for a minute. Then, I rub it off w/ a moist cloth and my lips are baby's-booty-smooth. Magical!
I can't put my finger on it, but albeit being 2/3rd the way through bottle of this, I just can't say I'm crazy about it. It removes non-waterproof makeup just fine and hasn't had a negative impact on my skin. Ultimately, I'm just not sold on the feel of the thick cream (not the most luxurious), and I find it leaves my combination-dry skintype a tad tight-feeling.
I will definitely still be searching for my Holy Grail cleanser...
Treatments -Zapzyt - Zapzyt Pore Treatment Gel 2%bha
ThatIsNOTHerShade 1/31/2010 7:08:00 AM
I alternate between this and Paula's Choice 2% BHA (salicylic acid) gel, and, honestly, find them very comparable. Both are alcohol and fragrance free. I smooth on a thin layer of this after I wash my face and before applying any moisturizer/sunscreen, etc. I find the texture almost like a tacky gel, and it's lightly moisturizing.
My skin is much clearer than in the past--basically, I have no acne now and much less blackheads and congestion in general. For my combination leaning dry skin with mild acne--this was the ticket to clearer skin! Love it. EDIT: discontinued use
I first purchased this sunscreen after my last one broke me out, based mostly on that fact that it is free of fragrance. Needless to say, I really have come to like this sunscreen, a knock-off of Neutrogena Sensitive Skin Sunblock Lotion.
It provides the perfect amount of moisture for my combination (leaning dry) skintype, and sinks in completely for a clean base for my makeup. The active ingredient is 9.1% Titanium Dioxide--plus, it is also PABA-free. Hey, I might even repurchase this one... EDIT: annnd, no--just too heavy even for my semi-dry skin. Personally, I feel this was breaking me out. darn.
Just a vivid, matte, true "fire-engine" red lipstick. Very drying (which I half-expected), lasts well...gave this one away.
Eye Shadow -NYX - Ultimate Pearl Shadow - Purple Pearl 13
ThatIsNOTHerShade 1/31/2010 6:13:00 AM
I could rave endlessly about how I love the pearly finish of these shadows. This line of NYX eyeshadows applies sheer and luminous. Purple Pearl is a cool-toned, medium violet with blue opalescence. The texture is soft, smooth, and easy to blend.
Applied wet, the finish is less ethereal and more disco. Purple Pearl wears very well (I use Too Faced Shadow Insurance as a primer, always). I definitely want to collect more shades of this particular line.
Eye Shadow -Palladio - Herbal Eyeshadow, Champagne
ThatIsNOTHerShade 1/31/2010 6:04:00 AM
This is a staple in my neutral eyeshadow collection. It's a shimmery champagne shade, pale and slightly warm in color. Champagne is pretty and classic on my cool, pale skintone. The texture is soft; it's easy to blend and it wears very well.
In fact, I'm seriously wondering why I haven't purchased any more of the Palladio Herbal Eyeshadows...jeez! :)
Highlighters -mark - Glow Xpert Face Shimmer, Rose Glow
ThatIsNOTHerShade 1/31/2010 4:57:00 AM
This is a semi-sheer liquid highlighter in a rosy/pinky-nude shade. It looks great on my cool, pale skintone. I'd say it's more glowy than disco-shine, although it does contain a small amount of micro-glitter in addition to the shimmer.
I have found this highlighter to stay on very well and not irritate/clog my skin. My only complaint is the PACKAGING. They put the highlighter in a chamber with an indentation and holes into which a sponge-tipped applicator fits--CLUMSY. I would much rather have just an open jar or a squeeze tube.
Misc Beauty Tools -Tweezerman - Super Curler Eyelash Curler
ThatIsNOTHerShade 1/31/2010 4:51:00 AM
I really like this curler due to it's open-sided design--prevents pinching those outer lashes, which is a constant problem for me w/ other curlers. Creates a lovely arced curl in my opinion!
