Conditioner -The Body Shop - Rainforest Moisture Conditioner
rated 2 of 5

This is the replacement to my beloved, discontinued Honey Conditioner. It's not even remotely similar. Where the Honey conditioner was thick and rich and moisturized my hair, making it shiny and smooth, this silicone-free conditioner is thin, runny, and did little to tame my long, thick hair. It smells predominantly of honey and light florals -- not unpleasant, but not as lovely as the honey-almond scent of the previous.

Shampoo -L'Oreal - L'Oreal EverStrong Bodify Shampoo for Flat, Limp Hair, Rosemary Juniper
rated 3 of 5

Bought this on a whim. Let's start with the good: it smells awesome. It also is very rich -- normally I need quite a bit of shampoo to work through my long hair, but I only needed a small dollop of this. It certainly bodified my hair. Now for the bad: my hair may have been full of body, but it also was left puffy, dry-looking, and waxy feeling. I used it in combo with the matching conditioner so I'm not sure which of these is to blame for my bad hair days. Wouldn't use again due to the sticky feeling it left on my hair.

Lip Gloss -Essence of Beauty - Lip Frosting
rated 4 of 5
ThaneFurrows 9/2/2009 9:24:00 AM

I just picked one of these up on a whim at CVS. I got the Strawberry Cheesecake flavor. This is a really nice gloss! Non-sticky, glossy, smells (and tastes!) delicious, very very slight pink tint. They also had Vanilla Frosting and Dutch Chocolate, which smelled nice through the packaging but I didn't purchase those. My only complaint is that the cap has very few treads to screw on, like, one turn's worth, so I always start unscrewing it and it goes flying off! But other than that, a nice, frivolous treat for $2.99.

Lip Gloss -Bare Escentuals - Buxom Babes Diamond Lips
rated 2 of 5

I ordered this from Sephora after being absolutely thrilled with the last set of Buxom glosses (the summer ones) I ordered. I was so excited for them to arrive since I loved the others so much, I thought it would be nice to have some shimmery shades as well. Unfortunately, there were a number of differences that made me dislike these glosses. First, the sponge applicator has been replaced with a brush, which I personally don't care for. I find them messy. Second, they have a fake vanilla/cakey scent that really turns me off. If you've ever smelled the Bonne Bell Lip Frosting in Birthday Cake, it's the same scent. Third, the colors just didn't work for me. I am a brunette, neutral PPP, and these colors all had a festive silvery shimmer which looks horrible on me. I can imagine these looking really pretty on a blonde, but they just weren't for me. As for the product itself, it still delivers that great tingle and plumping effect, but unfortunately that's not enough for me to keep them.

Blush -NARS - Dolce Vita
rated 3 of 5
ThaneFurrows 11/17/2008 1:12:00 PM

I am a neutral PPP brunette and bought this recently. Ordinarily, I love deeply colored, pigmented blushes. I just apply with a skunk brush. So when NARS came out with this one, I thought I'd give it a try. Unfortunately ruddy undertones to this pretty deep rosy shade did not compliment my skintone at all. Also, the lack of any sort of shimmer made it very flat and lifeless on me. For a similar shade with less ruddiness and more dimension, I recommend MAC Merrily.

Blush -MAC - Merrily [DISCONTINUED]
rated 5 of 5
ThaneFurrows 10/29/2008 1:12:00 PM

Amazing color! I snap up any bright or dark colored blushes I can find because I think applied sheerly, they compliment my fair skin and dark features better than any light/neutral colored blushes. So when I saw MAC come out with this and Love Thing in the Mineralized line, I snapped them up! Merrily is a medium-red blush with golden shimmer. I apply lightly with a skunk brush and have no "clown cheek" issues on my PPP skin. The shimmer is noticeable, but not garish or glittery. Perfect! Love it.

Blush -MAC - Love Thing

Love love love this blush! I love bright and darkly pigmented blushes, so when I saw this and Merrily come out with the Mineralized line, I rushed out to get them! Love Thing is a deep plummish-raspberry with shimmer. I am a brunette PPP, I apply lightly with a skunk brush and have no issues with "clown cheeks." Very pretty and flattering to my neutral skintone with mauve undertones. Love it!

Fragrances -Victoria's Secret - Heavenly Kiss
rated 4 of 5
ThaneFurrows 6/13/2008 9:45:00 AM

I've always liked the original Heavenly, but got and swapped away countless bottles because there was just something "off" about it on my skin. Heavenly Kiss, however, is everything I always wanted Heavenly to be. To me, once it dries down, it smells very much like Heavenly with a touch more sweetness. The main sugary sweetness everyone is complaining about comes in the initial spray, and is gone within minutes. The drydown is sweet and soft, yet clean. I love it. And it lasts all day on me.

Lip Gloss -Bath and Body Works - Liplicious Watermelon Sorbet
rated 5 of 5
ThaneFurrows 5/28/2008 12:53:00 PM

Super awesome! I'm on my second tube. I use this almost every day. It looks super bright pink in the tube, but applies sheer, shimmery watermelon pink. It's not too sticky, and lasts quite a while. It's a great way to liven up your face when you're feeling a little blah. Great scent too, not too sickly or fakey sweet, just like watermelon! Super pretty!

Eye Shadow -MAC - Stars N Rockets
rated 4 of 5
ThaneFurrows 5/28/2008 12:49:00 PM

I'm going to preface this review by saying I normally do not wear eyeshadow on a daily basis. I usually only wear eyeshadow for special occasions. That said, I really like this color! It's a pinkly-purpley-blue -- very unusual and striking. I wore this with a black dress and it really just made my brown eyes pop. I just used it as a wash of color over my lid. (And actually, I was traveling and forgot my e/s brush so I applied it with my pinky -- worked great!) It's an easy way to dress up your eyes if you're not normally a pro with eyeshadow. Very nice!

Lipstick -MAC - Fun N Sexy- fafi collection
rated 4 of 5
ThaneFurrows 5/28/2008 12:45:00 PM

Fun N Sexy is a hot pink glaze with blue glitter. Sounds scary, but since it's a glaze, it's very buildable. One swipe? Pretty shimmery pink lips. Two swipes? Sexy fuschia with tons of sparkle! I think it's a great color for summer.

Lipstick -MAC - C-Shock - Overrich (Glaze)
rated 4 of 5
ThaneFurrows 5/28/2008 12:43:00 PM

This lipstick looks scary orange in the tube, but goes on as a sheer, shimmery peach. It's a glaze (my favorite formula) so the color is buildable. Very cute color for summer!

Blush -MAC - sunbasque
rated 5 of 5
ThaneFurrows 5/28/2008 12:40:00 PM

Sunbasque is a really pretty bronzey-pink shade, that I imagine looks good on many skintones. I am a PPP and absolutely love it. Now that I am a little tanner, it looks even better -- a healthy flush with a good amount of shimmer. I love that the shimmer is natural looking and not garish. Overall, a beautiful and easy blush to wear.

Lip Gloss -Bare Escentuals - Buxom Babes Lip Tints
rated 5 of 5
ThaneFurrows 4/15/2008 12:40:00 PM

I am in love with these glosses! I threw these in last minute with my Sephora order and I'm so glad I did! The set comes with four mini glosses: Cherry (cherry cough-syrup scented, coral color), Coco (coconut scented, clear color), Melonie (melon scented, pink gloss), and my favorite, Margarita (margarita scented, fushia color). They are the perfect texture, not too sticky, not too slippery. They are the perfect colors, sheer but not invisible. They make your lips a little tingly -- refreshing! They last for hours. And they are perfectly purse-sized. I cannot say enough good things about these glosses! I only mourn the day I use them up. Hopefully they'll be added to the full-size lineup!

Fragrances -Escada - moon sparkle
rated 3 of 5
ThaneFurrows 4/14/2008 3:18:00 PM

I fell in love with this scent when I tried it in Macy's recently. Every time I passed the perfume counter I dutifully sprayed it on until I decided to purchase my own bottle. Now that I have it, I'm a little disappointed. I love the scent -- a clean, fruity scent. Like a fruity bubble bath or shampoo. I don't get the grape everyone is talking about, I get more of a black currant. But it just doesn't last! And normally my skin is like a sponge and most fragrances last on me forever. This one is gone in a few hours. But it's nice while it lasts.
