Hair Color -Wella - Color Charm Demi-Permanent Hair Color
rated 5 of 5
TeenBeauty 10/26/2012 4:40:00 PM

I remember trying this when I used to dye my hair blonde and wasn't a fan, but now since I have dyed my hair brunette, I LOVE this hair color! When buying this hair color you'll also need to buy the color charm developer also available at sally's (& if you don't already own a squeeze bottle to put the hair color in, get one at sally's; along with gloves :) Then follow the directions and do a 2:1 ratio of developer:color. The first time I used this as a brunette (I was light brown then) I mixed two colors: 5N Light Natural Brown & 6W Dark Sand (as a previous reviewer rec'd) for 15-20 minutes (this is the usual amount of time I leave the dye on for). As everyone else has mentioned, your hair will come out 2 shades DARKER immediately after coloring (so my hair turned to a dark brown shade). I love how gentle this color is & how shiny it makes your hair look after. I've used this brand 5 different times in the past 7 months (and I still get complimented how soft my hair is & how healthy it is by my stylist) and each time I mix different colors to get the right shade (and I'm still trying to figure out what it best for me). -When I first used half 5N Light Natural Brown & half 6W Dark Sand, I found that it was just too dark for my taste & 6W gave my hair more red tones, which I wasn't into. -The next time, I used 5N again & just a squirt of 6W (Liked this more, but still too dark right after). -I then tried 7N Medium Natural Blonde because I liked the shade of the color sample (in sally's): right after I LOVED the color, but of course it faded within a week to a dark blonde/light brown shade. - And lately I have been used half 5N Light Natural Brown & half 6N Dark Natural Brown. I think I'll be sticking to this, it's not too golden, not too red, not too dark; it looks natural & that's what I want. ***Edit: I now just use 5N Light Natural Brown & it's the perfect, natural looking brown

Liquid -American Beauty - Perfectly Even Natural Finish Foundation
rated 4 of 5
TeenBeauty 6/25/2011 1:31:00 PM

UPDATED Review: I am N-20 & I use the Light/Warm shade. This is $17 at Kohl's, but in the Sunday paper Kohl's always has those $10 off coupons, which I always use to buy this. They have cool & warm shades (which I find the warm shades to be more neutral based w/ yellow undertones, which is what I look for in a foundation. IMO, I find that this would work better for people with normal or slightly dry skintypes who are looking for a light coverage foundation. Personally, on my normal/slightly oily skin in gives me a very natural, dewy look. I usually like more coverage for a foundation (that's why I normally use my HG Revlon Colorstay), but on days when my skin is at it's clearest I'll use this.

Makeup Brushes -Ecotools - retractable kabuki
rated 2 of 5
TeenBeauty 6/12/2011 11:44:00 AM

UPDATED Review: This is now one of my least favorite brushes of Ecotools because mine also broke. I also had a problem with it never completely drying after washing it. If you're interested in Ecotools I definitely suggest the Bamboo Bronzer Brush & the little mineral brush in the 5 Piece Set (check my reviews).

Sunscreen -Banana Boat - Ultra Defense Faces SPF 30 Oil Free with AvoTriplex
rated 3 of 5
TeenBeauty 4/28/2011 1:10:00 AM

Swapped for this based on the good reviews, but Ouch, this sunscreen stings due to the avobenzone (& I don't even consider myself to have sensitive skin & my skin usually doesn't have a problem with chemical s/s)! Tried this three times on my face & two times put it on with nothing underneath (just fresh, clean skin) & it still stung; today it stung to the point where I couldn't bare it & removed it with oil & cleanser. I took off two lippies because of that, but I still use it on my neck & chest (where I have no problems with it). IMO definitely not for faces. Active Ingredients: Avobenzone (3.00%), Octocrylene (6.0%), Oxybenzone (4.00% Sunscreen) Inactive Ingredients: Water, Silica, Ethylhexyl Benzoate, Butyloctyl Salicylate, Hydrogenated Dimer Dilinoley/Dimethylcarbonate Copolymer, Stearyl Alcohol, Glycerin, Caprylyl Glycol, Phenoxyethanol, Aloe Vera (Aloe Barbadensis) Leaf Juice, Tocopherol (Natural Vitamin E), Retinyl Acetate (Vitamin A), Tocopheryl Acetate (Vitamin E) (Vitamin E), Bambusa Vulgaris (Bamboo) Extract, Pisum Sativum (Pea) Extract, Glucosamine HCl, Behenyl Alcohol, Glyceryl Stearate, Glyceryl Stearate Citrate, Disodium Ethylene Dicocamide Peg 15 Disulfate, Cetearyl Alcohol, Dimethyl Capramide, Sodium Lauryl Sarcosinate, Cetearyl Alcohol, Sodium Lauroyl Lactylate, Lecithin, Carbomer, Xanthan Gum , BHT, Disodium EDTA, Triethanolamine, Pentylene Glycol, Butylene Glycol, Methylparaben, Propylparaben

Scrubs -Victoria's Secret - Pink Go Natural Sugar Scrub
rated 5 of 5
TeenBeauty 6/18/2010 11:21:00 AM

I got this at the VS Semi-Annual Sale for $3!!!! I have been looking for a scrub that works great as an exfoliator BEFORE putting on self-tanner & I think I found my Go-To scrub! I need a scrub that is NOT oily, & will not leave a residue behind (so not salt based, but sugar based), & I need something that is grainy & a bit harsh (which this is). I bought the Vanilla & Shea Butter one which smelled the best out of all three in the store but let me tell you when you're applying it, it smells kind of sickening sweet (but nothing I can't handle!). I'm going back today to stock up on ALL three!! To get the MOST out of this scrub & to make it a heavy duty scrub: I would suggest applying it to your body when it is DRY (before you take your shower) & just adding a little water to let it move more easily. I actually used this when my whole body was already wet (but I turned the shower off) & it has a light lather which makes a little of the product go a LONG way (which means you're not wasting it!) & use a washcloth or a loufah to really exfoliate! Also I took the CAP OFF & the product came out super easy! I absolutely LOVE this product (just not a fan of the scent) & will definitely be stocking up!

Lotions/ Creams -Aveeno - Positively Nourishing- Refreshing 24 Hour Moisturizer
rated 5 of 5
TeenBeauty 6/14/2010 6:11:00 PM

This is $9.99 at Ulta. I haven't bought this yet (I'm waiting for a coupon & a sale) but I tried it on & I LOVE it! Smells delicious (not overpowering, just a clean, yummy, sort of baby scent). And I love the texture & feeling of it; it's not too thick & greasy but really moisturizes & leaves your skin super soft! Will definitely purchase this soon! Here's the description on it's website: "Refreshing fragrances in a formula with Blueberry and Goji Berries awaken your senses and keep you feeling recharged. This breakthrough body lotion goes beyond pampering your skin. Formulated with nourishing ACTIVE NATURALS® Oatmeal, it provides the essential moisture you need for healthier-looking skin today. And, this formula with antioxidants nourishes your skin to keep it healthier-looking tomorrow."

Self Tanners -Too Faced - Tanning Bed in a Tube
rated 4 of 5
TeenBeauty 5/30/2010 3:14:00 PM

This is an early review: I was about to put this up for swap (it's my sister's, but she hasn't been using it much anymore) but I decided to use it once to see if I even like it. For reference this is $22.50 at Sephora. Since it's the beginning of summer, & I do NOT tan outside, it's self-tanner time for me! My Routine before using ANY Self-Tanner: I exfoliated before I took a shower; I exfoliate on partially dry skin with a little water: I find this to be more effective (girls exfoliating is major for not getting streaks & to have a longer lasting tan IMO if you're not going to exfoliate DON'T even bother w/ sunless tanners; I rec'd a non-oily, more harsh (no soft beads: they do nothing, look for a grainy type) scrub (if it's oil-based your tan will streak). I also use a loofah on my feet, knees, and elbows & exfolating gloves you can get at Target. Next shave & then apply some type of lotion on spots that are likely to absorb color more (feet, knees, elbows, I also do my neck & the front of the armpit). Okay on to my review of the product: I really love this product! The pina-colada scent is a lil' overpowering, but it beats the normal tanner scent that I'm used to from my L'Oreal Sublime Tanners. Usually whenever I do my whole exfolation routine (look above), my skin is very pale (well not thattt pale; I'm N-20, but I look better with a bit of a tan) & has a slight purplish tint & it usually takes a day to even start to see my tanner working. BUT NOT WITH THIS! I already have a nice golden tan, not super tan, but I would feel comfortable wearing shorts. This will not streak if you focus on one area at at time & I even add a little more lotion btwn areas on knees, elbows, etc (I work my way up going from the bottom of the leg/feet, then top of the leg/thigh, then stomach, then chest/neck, then arms). Since I just tried it, I will update to see how it works in the long run; but for now I really like it! ***EDIT*** Okay about 2 hours after apllying, the normal self-tanner smell kicked in (uhhh), & the next day I wasn't as tan. I would rec this for instant tanning

Blush -Hard Candy - Blush Crush Baked Blush in Pin Up
rated 5 of 5
TeenBeauty 5/6/2010 12:23:00 AM

Okay so this is my FAVORITE out of all the HC Blushes (I haven't tried Bombshell yet tho). I've always been a matte (no shimmer) type of bronzer gal & I don't know why but these Hard Candy blushes converted me. This shade is more tan (looks great on N-25 tones). I actually put some on my finger & rub it onto my apples of my cheeks. LOVE!

Eye Shadow -NYX - Jazzy Bronze
rated 5 of 5
TeenBeauty 4/11/2010 10:15:00 PM

This is my FAVORITE color from the TS27 palette, so I thought I'd review it by itself. If you have blue eyes, THIS should be a staple in your makeup kit. I usually apply a shimmery beige (either NYX Salmon, N.Y.C Sparkle Eye Dust in Champagne, or Stila in Oasis) on the eylid & I apply Jazzy Bronze in the crease (focusing more towards the corner), then I little under the eye. GORGEOUS!!

Blush -Hard Candy - Living Doll
rated 5 of 5
TeenBeauty 3/28/2010 4:35:00 PM

This review is from a girl who has always HATED blushes, especially any shimmery stuff (I already have rosy cheeks, & even when wearing foundation I always just stick with my matte bronzer). But I have been CONVERTED! I don't know how, but I did a very natural makeup look using this blush (my Hard Candy Tinted Moisturizer, this blush, just mascara & a pink lip & my sister could not stop telling me how pretty I looked; this coming from a girl who RARELY ever gives ppl compliments). She kept saying how "fresh" I looked. Immediately my sister ran out & got her own & EVEN my mom has been sneaking mine to use on herself (I finally swapped one for her LOL). Yes this is shimmery, but it just makes you glow; I really can't explain it; just go buy or swap one (it's SO CHEAP!) & you can tell for yourself. Out of all the Hard Candy blushes at Walmart, Living Doll is FAR my favorite!

Eye Shadow -Unlisted Brand - Back To The Earth Crushed Minerals - Eye Shadows
rated 5 of 5
TeenBeauty 3/28/2010 12:58:00 PM

SOME OF THE BEST PIGMENTS I HAVE EVER TRIED! They are so pigmented & are definitely NOT sheer! Swapped for some with a member here "backtotheearth213" who runs the website. She was so generous & sent me MANY samples & many other full size pigments! On her website, full sizes are only $5 each, which is a steal! One downside is the packaging sometimes... they are sent in either a a little jar with a removeable lid (love these) or a pop-up lid thing (which with my clumsy hands I have spilled some of my pigments trying to get the damn thing to open LOL). These are the colors I received: Full Size: Egyption Sands (Metallic Golden Copper) Fools Gold (Metallic Blonde Taupe Gold) Starry Night (Gorgeous Deep Dark Shimmery Purple) Outer Limits (Metallic Dark Ocean Blue) Northern Lights (Steel Silvery Blue with Reddish Undertone) Tree Spirit (Shimmery Jade Green) Sample Size: Stardust (Metallic Silvery Taupe) Baby Fawn (Copper, a little darker & less shimmery than Egyptian Sands) Antique Silver (Medium Shimmery Silver) Dandelion (Shimmery Golden Yellow) Ashes to Ashes (Matte Dark Grey) Water Element (Shimmery Teal Green) Icy Blue (Light Shimmery Bright Blue) Air Elemenetal (Medium Shimmery Bright Blue) Midnight Rider (Very Dark Shimmery Purple)

Cleansers -Booths - Purifying Jojoba Cleansing Oil
rated 5 of 5
TeenBeauty 3/26/2010 9:23:00 PM

Okay so I don't use this as a typical cleansing oil, but since I already have oily skin, I don't think using an oil as a cleanser will help any. I use it how I use just plain jojoba oil (check my notepad for my routine). When I have my full face of makeup on I massage this onto to my face to loosen the m/u & then I remove with a wipe & cleanse. Works great for me; just FYI mineral oil is the first ingredient, not jojoba, but my skin doesn't seem to mind :)
