Lotions/ Creams -Unlisted Brand - O'Keeffe's Working Hands
Tahari 4/27/2013 10:48:00 AM
Pros: - VERY moisturizing! - Non-greasy - No perfume added (it has a very light Macadamia Nut smell to me, but it disappears quickly) - Lasting results Cons: - It leaves a slight "film" on your hands. It's difficult to describe. The film ISN'T greasy or uncomfortable, but it sort of feels like your hands are going to sweat. I hesitate to mention it because it's such a non-factor considering all the good this cream does, but it may irritate some in humid and/or hot summer weather.

Skincare - Body -Garden of Wisdom - Camellia Oil
Tahari 9/26/2012 4:22:00 AM
This review is for Camellia Oil (Oleifera). GoW sells Camellia Oil (Sinensis), but I chose Oleifera because it's marketed as "more emollient"... Anyone who has dry, scaly, or otherwise rough skin NEEDS this oil! In just a week it made me skin noticeably softer! When I first began using it (1 month ago) I would put 1 drop on my facial moisturizer and about 4/5 in my body moisturizer (Mario Badescu "Formula 200 Body Lotion" - great all year body lotion btw) and by the end of the week my skin was so soft and it was lasting! I forgot my Camellia Oil on a trip, but my skin stayed soft for the entire 3 days!! I have KP (mild case) on my upper arms and Camellia Oil has help tremendously! There is still some redness, but the KP affected areas on my arms is soft now, ZERO roughness! (DISCLAIMER: I also use Salux which helps exfoliate) Camellia Oil is very light and soaks in well, and it's so mild that it's great for sensitive skin (doesn't exfoliate and isn't harsh). Another good thing about this oil is that you can use it to 100%, so you don't need to worry about measuring or formulation. GoW says it has a 2 year shelf life, but the way I use it I doubt it will last that long lol Oh, and it's odorless! Pros: - lasting softness - good for sensitive skin - odorless - soaks into skin well (with moisturizer too) Cons: - doesn't moisturize (it softens, but don't use it to heal chapped skin)

Shampoo -Bumble & Bumble - Mending Shampoo
Tahari 9/2/2012 11:28:00 AM
This is my new favorite B&B Shampoo (and Conditioner). I have fine, curly hair. The Mending line makes my hair so soft, but also leaves it without frizz. I use it in conjunction with the Mending Conditioner (sometimes the Brilliantine Cond. or Curl Conscious) and I'm very happy with the results. The only complaint I have is that it's expensive! $72 for the liter. I'll still give it a 5, but gee wiz! lol

Moisturizers -Garden of Wisdom - Minty Fruity Meow Meow! Facial Lotion
Tahari 7/26/2012 12:55:00 PM
This would be a 5 if the mint wasn't so strong. I have oily skin, but this lotion is great for balance. It soaks in easily and gives me a matte finish. The mint does provide a *somewhat* refreshing, cool, feeling, but IMO there is too much mint added to the product. My skin is a little sensitive, and I once I washed my face after being outside (in 100F heat). My face was a little blotchy because it was so hot. I put the Minty Fruity Meow Meow! Facial Lotion on and it STUNG! It only lasted about 20sec, but since them I've been mixing it with just a little Coconut Oil to lessen the mint. Pros: - non-greasy - soaks in easily - moisturizing Cons: - mint is strong - may irritate sensitive skin An otherwise great product, but the amount of mint added is too strong. imo

Lip Treatments -Fresh - Sugar Rose Lip Treatment SPF 15
Tahari 1/17/2012 4:03:00 AM
Pros: - Moisturizing - Gives a flush of color Cons: - Packaging - Price ($22.50 - Sephora) Bottom Line: I loved the color of this lip treatment. It gave my lips a boost of color that looked natural, and it kept my lips moisturized. The bad...the stick BROKE in two when I applied it! I guess I rolled it up too much...the consistency is quite creamy so be careful! Also, the price ($22.50) is too much for this lip balm. This is a great balm with great color, but the price is, frankly, outrageous! All in all, I give this 4 (would have been a 5 if it wasn't overpriced) stars because of the color and moisturizing it imparts to my lips! EDIT: I've noticed that after about an hour of wear, the balm seems to become drying. I've started layering it over another balm and that has helped keep my lips moist. But I wouldn't wear this alone. I give it a 3.

Gels/Soaps -DHC - Coq10 Beauty Bar
Tahari 1/10/2012 8:29:00 PM
Pros: - Lathers well - Unscented - Rinses clean - Doesn't dry out skin Cons: - Sensitivity to face Bottom line: For just the body I would rate this a 5. But for a face bar (for sensitive skin types) this is a 1. This is one of those soaps that leaves you squeaky clean! No residue at all, and lathers very well. Unlike other body soaps, this does NOT dry your skin out. However, sensitive skin types need to be careful. I tried washing my face with this bar and my face is STINGING! I had no problem using it on my body, but my face does NOT like this soap! This is great as a body bar, but spot test it on your face before you wash!

Misc Beauty Tools -Unlisted Brand - Starbucks - Napkins
Tahari 11/15/2011 5:06:00 AM
This is why I love MUA! You find all sorts of neat (and useful) recommendations. My skin is pretty oily, and thanks to the recs for Starbucks napkins I will never spend money on blotting paper again. Starbucks napkins are EXCELLENT for soaking up excess oil on my face. My face is totally matt and feels so much better after patting it with just 1 napkin. Whenever I go to Starbucks I will ask for "extra" napkins with my latte LOL

Treatments -Qtica - Cuticle treatment cream
Tahari 10/1/2011 6:20:00 PM
This is probably the best cuticle moisturizer I've even used! I've tried maybe a dozen other cuticle oils, creams, etc, and up until now I liked Aquaphor Healing Ointment. Qtica cuticle treatment is JUST as moisturizing, but stays on longer and doesn't smear as much. Qtica is a jelly/cream consistency and it's sticky (not uncomfortable), but the stickiness helps it stay on. I put this on before bedtime, and when I woke up my cuticles were so soft, and I could feel it soaked in! It has a slight fragrance, but its pleasant. It's also a bit pricey ($16), but you get quite a bit of product. I think I found my HG cuticle treatment!! I will repurchase this!

Treatments -Unlisted Brand - Perfect Formula Pink Gel Coat
Tahari 10/1/2011 9:30:00 AM
The good news...This works! My nails have always been really thin and dry, but after using Pink Gel Coat I noticed a difference in a couple of days. My nails were stronger and more hydrated. They didn't chip or break off like they used too. Great product!... My only complaint is that this product starts to get goopey when the bottle is only around 3/4 full! Not good considering this costs $30! I tried adding thinner, and that helped until about 1/2 full...it got goopey again! So I added more thinner...eventually it lost its effectiveness because of all the thinner I had to add! This would have been a 5 star product otherwise...

Treatments -It's a 10 - Miracle Leave in Product
Tahari 10/1/2011 9:08:00 AM
I have very fine, curly, hair that gets tangly, especially right out of the shower! I read the reviews on Amazon saying this makes your hair softer and easy to comb through, and decided to try this. It's a bit pricey (about $20...should have bought it on Amazon), but IT WORKED! I bought the one "with Keratin" and this has improved the texture of my hair A LOT! I spray about 5 pumps on my hand and work through my towel dried hair right out of the shower. In seconds it makes my hair softer and I've noticed that I don't lose as much when I brush and blow dry. My only complaint is that the results only last about 2 days when you discontinue use, but I don't see myself doing that in the near future! BOTTOM LINE: This isn't a substitute for conditioner, but as a detangler and softener this works wonders!! Will Repurchase!

Treatments -Sally Hansen - Instant Cuticle Remover
Tahari 9/23/2011 2:04:00 AM
I'm really glad I listened to MUA and got this. I used to just use Aquaphor and push my cuticles back and then cut them (it sometimes would scratch my nail). SH remover makes it SO EASY to push my cuticles back! You don't even have to use the cuticle clippers after. It does a wonderful job! IMPORTANT: YOU MUST NOT LEAVE THIS ON!!! The directions say to wash this off in UNDER A MINUTE...they are not kidding! This stuff dissolves your cuticles, so you can bet leaving this on your nail isn't a good idea!

Makeup Brushes -MAC - #210 Precise Eye Liner (Fine Point)
Tahari 9/8/2011 12:36:00 PM
I bought this a couple of weeks ago when I purchased the MAC fluidline. It works BEAUTIFULLY! Very precise and easy to maneuver. I've never tried it with a non-MAC fluidline, but I don't see how it wouldn't do just as great a job with another brand. I'm happy with my purchase.

Lip Treatments -Jack Black - Grapefruit & Ginger
Tahari 8/23/2011 10:46:00 PM
This is an awesome lip balm! It is moisturizing, and my lips felt soft and moisturized when I took it off! There is NO greasy feeling, and it's only moderately sticky (hardly noticeable)...It lasts hours, and I didn't need to reapply until I ate. The "Grapefruit & Ginger" is the first flavor of the JB line I've tried. It goes on clear, but the ginger in the balm makes my lips tingle and have a bee stung tint. Great Balm! Will repurchase.

Treatments -Barielle - Hydrating Ridge Filler with Silk Fiber
Tahari 8/6/2011 4:18:00 AM
I am SO happy with this! My nails are ALWAYS dry and breaking, and it always gets worse when I take off my nail polish. However, I've been using Barielle for about 4 weeks and my nails are NOTICEABLY more hydrated!! I've also noticed that as I use this on my new nail growth, it makes my nails stronger/more flexible. As far as staying power, it seems to last about a week (like my usual base coat). I'm still cutting my nails back, trying to get rid of the old/weaker nail growth. But I'm liking the results so far! Will repurchase!

Lotions/ Creams -DERMAdoctor - KP Duty
Tahari 8/2/2011 7:06:00 AM
I have normal skin (with milk KP on my upper arms and legs) and this moisturizer has made my skin so soft! It soaks right into skin and does NOT leave an oily or sticky feeling on skin. I use this right after my shower and reapply it again midday. I have normal skin and didn't experience any reaction to this moisutrizer as others have had. I bought this at Sephora. Their return policy is awesome, so if you have an allergic reaction (people with sensitive skin might want to apply a small amount to test it) just send it back.
