Blush -NARS - Deep Throat
TMK6959 1/21/2012 5:59:00 PM
After months of lusting after this and umming and aahing over the price point, I was lucky enough to get this in a swap. Deep Throat is a shimmery warm peachy pink. I own a lot of warm toned blushes (Coralista, MAC's Dainty, Australis' HD Blush in Flash It) and to be honest, deep throat reminded me of all of those. For me, it did not live up to the hype at all. This is completely dupable. Being NARS, I can't fault the quality of the blush, the pigmentation or the wear time because it is brilliant, so this one deserves four lippies. Don't get me wrong- I love the colour, it's absolutely gorgeous but it's nothing unique like the reviews led me to believe. My Australis HD blush is an EXACT dupe for this and for AU$11.50 as opposed to AU$60.00 I'm pretty sure I would rather the Australis. I wouldn't repurchase.

Eyeliner -Maybelline - Eyestudio Lasting Drama Gel Eyeliner
TMK6959 1/20/2012 11:52:00 PM
I can't believe it's taken me this long to review a HG product. I purchased this back in September, and I've been smitten ever since. This is the most creamy, smooth eyeliner I've ever come across (the texture reminds me of Vegimite for my fellow Aussies out there). The colour is as black as black can possibly be. The wear time is INCREDIBLE. My only gripes about this? 1. It's nearly impossible to remove and 2. The brush it comes with is pathetic, so I use one of my MAC brushes. Other than that? It's perfect. Perfect for dramatic cat eyes, perfect for subtle tightlining, perfect for the waterline, perfect for smokey eyes (if you smudge quickly enough)... simply PERFECT. Buy it. You can't go wrong for this price. I hope it doesn't get discontinued!

Blush -NARS - Douceur
TMK6959 1/19/2012 11:56:00 PM
A surprise HG! I've been experimenting with NARS blushes lately and arranged to get this though a swap thinking "hmmm... I don't think I'm gonna like this colour... oh well, I can always put it back up for swaps." But boy was I wrong! In the pan, this appears to be a dull browny-plum colour, but on my NC15 skin it translates to the most amazing dusky rose (a real English rose colour... think Mary from Downton Abbey). It gives my face amazing definition, but I wouldn't call this a contour colour at all like some previous reviewers. No, this definitely falls into the category of a sculpting blush for me. This is amazing alone, but if I feel like adding a real glow to the English rose look, I add a light dusting of MAC's Hang Loose over the top. This makes the whole look really pop and makes me look radiant and finished. Texture is so finely milled that the colour looks as though it is coming from within. Wear time is incredible. Pigmentation certainly packs a punch. Packaging is amazing- I don't get why so many people dislike NARS packaging so much, I think it's sturdy and chic. I will repurchase if I ever run out. I'm not sure if I could live without it.

Blush -MAC - Beauty Powder in True Romantic
TMK6959 1/19/2012 7:06:00 PM
Sadly, this is NOT my colour. I so wanted to love this but on my skin it is VERY, very purple. It looks like a very unnatural plummy glow, no matter how lightly I apply it. The texture is absolutely heavenly and the pigmentation is INCREDIBLE. I will be trying more of the beauty powder blushes for these reasons. Mine is now up for swaps.

Fragrances -Unlisted Brand - Fcuk for her
TMK6959 1/9/2012 10:35:00 PM
When I tested this in GPPW the other day, the scent attacked me with brute force. So much so, actually, that I couldn't figure out any of the notes! All I got from this was insanely powerful, migraine inducing, nausea causing, perfumey, cloying, super strong alcohol (even after the dry down). Maybe the tester had gone off? Anyway, based on my experience with this perfume I wouldn't ever purchase. EVER. Also, the bottle is ugly and masculine.

Why such poor reviews? I'm not a fan of KK, but I applaud her for this fragrance. It definitely isn't what I expected when I tested this. I was expecting a very sexy, exotic, sensual blend of woods, spices, vanilla and maybe some musk, so I was very surprised when this turned out to be a very dramatic white floral! It is beautiful, but not the kind of beautiful I expected from KK. I really love this, especially the dry-down. A little hint of sugary spice comes through and it's quite intoxicating. Lasting power is the most amazing I've encountered from an EDP. Expect a good 6-8 hours, maybe more. Packaging is not to my liking at all. I think it's very tacky, masculine and cheap looking. I'm not sure if I would purchase this (mainly because of the bottle), but I'm negotiating a swap for a small bottle at the moment. It's a truly lovely scent.

Fragrances -J. Lo - Glow
TMK6959 1/8/2012 6:21:00 AM
This is an incredibly strong soapy scent. The drydown is a milder version of the opening soapiness and the scent completely disappears in less than an hour. The bottle is tacky. I expected more from JLo.

Fragrances -Elizabeth Arden - Curious by Britney Spears
TMK6959 1/8/2012 5:57:00 AM
This is mediocre. On first spray, this is incredibly objectionable (think strong floral scented cleaning product) but dries down to a light, pleasant, inoffensive floral. It's nothing special. The bottle is beautiful. Lasting power is sub par. I wouldn't repurchase. UPDATE: My bottle of this has gone rancid. The once clear liquid has gone yellow. It looks like a pretty bottle filled with urine. Now, the initial spray smells like bug spray mixed with industrial strength cleaner. Ironically, though, the dry down is better than before. I DEFINITELY won't repurchase, regardless of the nicer dry down. Who wants a bottle of pee sitting on their vanity amongst their pretty perfumes? Not I. I'm removing a lippy for it going rotten, and adding one back for the new dry down.

Fragrances -Elizabeth Arden - With Love by Hilary Duff

After reading all the great reviews for this, I was about to purchase this without testing. Lucky for me I went with my better judgement and tested it first! This is an absolute disaster on me. In the bottle it smelled pleasant and very woody, but after mingling with my body chemistry it became an incredibly objectionable, overbearing, cloying, migraine-inducing stench. I am so glad I didn't buy this. Lasting power is amazing which is why I gave this 2 lippies. Bottle is one of my favorites out there. Test this before you buy!

Fragrances -Unlisted Brand - Katy Perry - Purr
TMK6959 1/7/2012 6:33:00 AM
As a die-hard cat lover, it was a no brainer that I would have to purchase this at some point. The cat bottle is so very cute and is my favorite perfume bottle design EVER next to YSL's Baby Doll. On first spray, this is so-so and smells like a one-dimensional, generic, run of the mill, boring old celebrity fragrance. But don't let the opening fool you! The dry down is sexy and oh so intoxicating. I couldn't stop smelling my wrist after testing this! The smell makes my mouth water. It is appropriate for most ages under 50 (in my opinion) even though it is marketed to teeny boppers. Lasting power is excellent for an EDP. Purr lingers for 5-6 hours on me. This is pretty insanely overpriced for a celebrity fragrance but I would buy again. I'm just so in love with this! Katy Perry, you may be a doll but I am NOT a fan... however I applaud you for this fragrance! *** UPDATE: I've had my bottle for awhile now and I am hopelessly in love! The opening is full of sweet fruits with a hint of tartness and the dry down is a beautiful, creamy, sweet coconut/vanilla concoction along with something sexy, exotic and a little spicy that I can't quite put my finger on. The coconut is so prominent on me! I love this so much that I've arranged to get another bottle in a swap. I just want to spray it everywhere! This may just be my HG perfume...

Mascara -L'Oreal - Telescopic Explosion
TMK6959 1/5/2012 7:33:00 AM
Yeah... This sucks. The worst mascara I've ever used. No matter how I apply this (yes, I do know how to apply mascara properly with this type of brush) it clumps my eyelashes together to the point that it looks like I have three really fat eyelashes on each eye. Not a good look. I won't repurchase and I'm pretty pissed that I shelled out $26.99AU for this.

Mascara -Maybelline - Lash Stiletto
TMK6959 1/5/2012 7:28:00 AM
Meh. This is an OK mascara. Sure, it's better than NO mascara, but it isn't anything amazing or even great. Actually, I wouldn't even call it good. If you're thinking about trying this, keep the following points in mind: 1. The finished look screams 'I'm wearing mascara!'. It leaves me with the telltale long, dry and spidery looking lashes that put so many people off drugstore mascara. 2. It clumps like nobody's business. 3. You want more than one coat? Forget it. It will clump. 4. It separates the lashes, but clumps. When I say 'clumps', I don't mean all your lashes clump together. I mean you end up with separated, long, thin eyelashes with little black clumps all over each eyelash. This is almost decent for bottom lashes, but thats all. I won't repurchase. Container is cute.

Blush -Cover Girl - TruBlend Naturally Luminous Blush - Shimmering Sands
TMK6959 1/5/2012 7:15:00 AM
Disappointed. This hardly has any pigment and the only thing that shows up on my (PALE!) skin is glitter. I purchased this wanting a blush with SHIMMER, not a colourless GLITTER powder. The only thing this is good for is making me glimmer like Edward in the sunlight. Ew. The only time I can envision this being worn is out clubbing- which I don't do. EVER. I got two of these for $6 on special and if I didn't get them so cheap I think I'd be pretty pissed. The open one is getting binned, the unopened one is being swapped away.

Mascara -L'Oreal - Voluminous mascara
TMK6959 1/5/2012 6:54:00 AM
Unfortunately, I've gotta update my review. The first time I used this I thought i'd found a potential HG product, but after 2 or 3 uses it dried up. It is now a completely useless clumpy tacky mess. I would never repurchase this. Back to mascara hunting I go...

Blush -Australis - Paparazzi Perfect Blush
TMK6959 12/31/2011 5:28:00 AM
This amazingly affordable blush is at or above the standard of most high end blushes (I would know, I've tried a tonne). I have it in Shoot to Thrill (a real dolly, bright, candy pink) and Flash It (A bright, warm, rosey coral pink). Both are almost matte and extremely pigmented. A little bit goes a long way, one dip with a skunk brush is all I need for each cheek. Colour wise, I think Flash it is a good dupe for benefit's Coralista. Shoot to thrill is a cooler version of Bella Bamba. Wear time is excellent. The powder is extremely finely milled and does not sit in a layer above the skin like many affordable blushes do. I really recommend this and prefer these to BeneFit's versions (in colour, texture and lasting time). For only 12.50, it's a no brainer! Buy them! Minus one lippy for the lack of colour choices.
