Pressed Powders -New York Color - Colour Wheel Mosaic Powder in Mocha Glow
TIA1127 6/11/2010 4:50:00 PM
I have to disagree with BlueMoonAle, this works great with my fair skin. I've been on the search for a really nice dusky pink with hints of brown and this is it. It does have shimmer but as it is summer I think that is great. Makes my cheeks glowy but not "I have glitter on my face." I love it. Overall I give this a five. The color is perfect for my fair skin, it is very cheap. Packaging is nothing spectacular but it is functional. I will repurchase. I think this might become a HG blush.
I like this primer quite a bit. The only other primer I've tried is L'Oréal Decrease and is sucked. I've never tried UDPP or TFSI so I can't really compare it to anything HE. I have hooded eyes and this keeps my shadow in place quite well. I have a minor complaints against it. It is a little hard to blend eye shadows on. I have to be careful to apply this just where my creases are and no where else other wise it is hard to blend. Luckily this isn't too big a problem for me because I have a lot of skin between my lids and eye brows. It loses one lippie for blendability. The price is average for a DS product, about $10.00 but I got mine on sale. The packaging will make it hard to get the last little bit out so product will be wasted. I will buy this product again at least until I finally break down and buy UDPP or TFSI or I find something better.
Lip Liners -Jordana - Easyliner for Lips in Baby Berry
TIA1127 5/26/2010 3:29:00 PM
This is a pretty good lip liner. I use it when I do my 40's winged liner look. I'm not brave enough for red lipstick but this is a very bold berry lip liner. It goes on smoothly, stays in place and prevents feathering. My only complaint is that it doesn't seem to last as long as I would like it to. Over all I give it 4 lippies. It loses one lippie because the staying power while decent is not as long lasting as some of my other lip liners. Packaging is typical, self sharpening pencil. The price is dirt cheap. I think it was $1.99. I would recommend this lipliner and will repurchase it when I use it up.
Blush -Maybelline - Dream Mousse Blush in Peach Satin ] ] [DISCONTINUED]

This is a very pretty blush. Great for summer, but man o man is it shimmery. I prefer blushes that are fairly matte with just a bit of sheen if any. It also fades a bit. I wore it yesterday for the fist time but I doubt that I will reach for it on a regular basis. I felt like I had to tone down all my other makeup in order to wear this because it had so much shimmer. Overall it gets a 3. Ok product. Pretty color but too much shimmer and fading. The price wasn't bad. I paid about 6 bucks. Packaging was ok just a little pot of product. If the color had less shimmer and lasted long I would buy again.
Lipstick -Revlon - ColorBurst in 070 Soft Nude [DISCONTINUED]
TIA1127 4/29/2010 2:35:00 PM
Okay, this was kind of a weird thing for me. There has been all this hype over how Soft Nude was a dupe for ...um I think Mac's Creme d'Nude and that is a cult classic. So I went and got it because I don't have access to Mac and I won't order online unless I know I will like it. It is a good lipstick. The formula is smooth and glides on like butter. Great stuff. It isn't very long lasting, not as long as some of my other lipsticks. What I really disliked though was the color. I really thought that it would be great but I really disliked it. Nudes I guess aren't my thing. I returned it to Walgreens. Overall it is a good lipstick. Great formula and smooth application. It lost a lippie because the staying power wasn't that great for the price that you paid. I have cheaper lipsticks that last much longer. The price was way too hight for a drugstore that did not stay on as it should. I loved the packaging. Typical lipstick but the cross hatch or fish net pattern on the tube was really cute. I will probably not buy this color again but I might try the color burst line again.
When I first got this product I really liked it but the longer I wore it the more I disliked it. It did cover my dark circles fairly well and is very concentrated, but it did not last as long as it should have and it sunk into my fine lines really bad. The worst part is that it contained mineral oil. Mineral oil does not let you skin breath. Over all this gets a 3. It works to cover circles but does not last as long as it should and it sinks into fine lines. The price isn't horrible if you do the math. It will last six months for a .2 fl oz squeeze bottle but $30.00 is a lot to drop at one time (at least it is for me). The packaging is typical, does the job and is functional. I won't repurchase. Now I use Rimmel Lasting Finish foundation as concealer and it does a fantastic job. Better color match and stays in place and it does not sink into my lines as badly.
Liquid -Rimmel - Lasting Finish Enriched w/ Minerals
TIA1127 4/28/2010 1:05:00 PM
I don't actually use this as a foundation. I use it as a concealer. I have had the worst luck with finding a concealer that I liked and did not change colors on me or give me the reverse raccoon effect. I had watched a Michelle Phan video and she suggested using this as a concealer and I love it. I have horrible dark circles under my eyes and this totally covers them. Over all it gets a 5. Last a long time and matches my skin, no irritation, stays in place, its awesome. It is dirt cheap, I paid $7.00 for an ounce, my old concealer was $30.00 for .2 fl ounzes. The packaging is average. Nothing spectacular but does the job. I will buy this again. Edit: Okay now I have tried this as a foundation. I saw that a fair amount of people liked it. I've been a minerals girl for about 3 years now so wearing liquid foundation again is a bit weird. I like the color I wear the lightest color, I think it is Ivory 100. It does appear to be long lasting. It blends with a bit of effort but the most frustrating thing is the fact that it is a bit difficult to blend my bronzer and blush on top of this foundation. I ended up with a bit too much bronzer on my forehead because I couldn't blend it out. I'll have to remember to use a light hand. It is also very very very dewy. I would not recommend this for oily complexions. I had to put on translucent powder to combat this. Over all as a foundation I would give it 3 lippies because blending is a bit of a trial and because it is very dewy. Price is great, it is half that of my everyday minerals foundation. Packaging is typical. I'm undecided as to whether I will use this again as a foundation. I'll just have to see. Edit 2: I can't wear this as a foundation. Which is sad because it is a really good full coverage foundation. It makes my neck itch and breaks me out very badly. I don't know what makes me itch and only on my neck but it does. I've stopped wearing this for about two weeks now and my blemishes still have not fully gone. Three lippies for breakout and itchness. If you don't have sensitive skin then I say it is a great foundation but my skin does not like it.
Pressed Powders -New York Color - Color Wheel Mosaic Face Powder in Bronze Glow
TIA1127 4/26/2010 12:36:00 PM
Really awesome bronzer. I had been using Wet 'n' Wild Color Icon Bronzer in Princess which I like alot but it is very shimmery and I feel like it makes me look a little like a teenager. So I saw this and thought, "why not?" So I got it and I have to say, I really like it. It is MATTE. I didn't realize how much the WnW made me look like a teenager. This makes me look very natural yet a bit darker with out looking like an oompa loompa. It does have a bit of a red tint to it but I have a nuetral skin tone and right now I'm somewhat fair and it looks fine on me. Be careful not to apply it very heavily, a little goes a long ways. Over all I give it five lippies. Stays on all day and looks natural. The price is awesome, aroung $4.00 I think. The packaging is typical nothing awesome but funtional. When I run out I will repurchase.
Eye Shadow -Sonia Kashuk - Eye Shadow Quad - Smoke in Your Eyes
TIA1127 4/26/2010 12:16:00 PM
I had never had the opportunity to try Sonia Kashuk makeup. So I was excited. This was a disappointment! The colors are not pigmented at all nor are they very soft. They apply sheer and must be built up to get any intensity. I loved the look of all the colors in the pallet but beyond that it is not a very good pallet. Over all this gets 3 lippies becuase it is a usable pallet but just barely. I think the price is way too much for such poor quality makeup. The packaging is typical but not anything special. I will not buy this pallet again and will be very cautious in purchasing any other Sonia Kashuk eye shadows.
I just got this shadow and I love it. It is wonderful. It has become my go to shadow for everyday looks. It is pigmented, and the texture is smooth, soft, almost like butter. Great taupy color. Over all it gets 5 lippies. The price is very cheap compared to even most drugstore single eye shadows which run about $4.00, at Walgreens this is $1.99. The packaging is nothing spectacular but it gets the job done and keeps the shadow in place. I will repurchase this when I run out.
This stuff pretty good. It is a staple in my collection. I had been on the search for a good liquid liner because I was tired of washing cream liner off of my brushes. I think the best thing about this liner is the felt tip applicator. I can't do the brushes. They are hard to apply and plus I always end up getting some on my lashes which seems to cause my mascara to goop up. Overall rating is a 4. I took away a lippie because sometimes it flakes in my crease when I do winged liner ( I have hooded eyes) and because I have to be sure to let it dry before I open my eyes or the liner transfers. The price is average, around $7.00 at walmart. The packaging is typical as well. I will repurchase until I find something better.
This stuff is junk. I had seen some of the guru's on youtube recommend this brand, so when I needed some more lip balm I decided to try this brand. My lips do not get any better. I put it on and then in about 2 or 3 hours my lips feel just as dry as when I put it on and then I need to reapply. It's almost like it made my lips dryer. Over all rating is 1, it does the opposite of what it says it will do. The price is average and so is the packaging. I will not repurchase.
Lip Treatments -eos - Smooth Sphere Organic Lip Balm in Honeysuckle Honeydew
TIA1127 4/20/2010 10:25:00 AM
This lip balm is awesome!! I love it. I'd seen Michelle Phan use this on loads of her tutorials and she said it is her favorite. Now I know why. I had been using soft lips and I felt like I was constantly putting it on and that no matter how much I put on, my lips still felt chapped. Not so with this. Overall rating is a 5. It moisturizes well, stays on a long time, and is not shiny. The price was about $3.99, which is typical for most lip balms. The packaging is interesting. I don't know that I love it because it is kinda bulky but there are some advantages. It is easy to find in your purse and you can put it on both top and bottom lip at the same time, which is cool. I will absolutely buy this again.
Makeup Brushes -Revlon - Contour Shadow Brush 1159-05
TIA1127 4/20/2010 10:16:00 AM
When I found this brush I was really excited, I love brushes that are shaped like this one. When I do a single shadow look I use a brush shaped like this to blend out the shadow. Over all I would give it three lippies. It does the job and blends but I find that the bristles are scratchy. It doesn't feel good on my lids and mine are somewhat sensitive. The price is reasonable about 6 or 7 dollars. The packaging is typical nothing great but not bad. Unfortunately I won't buy any more. I hate scratchy brushes.
Eye Shadow -Wet 'n' Wild - ColorIcon Palette in #249 Vanity [DISCONTINUED]
TIA1127 3/8/2010 9:17:00 AM
Oh my gosh!! This is an awesome pallet. I can't say enough good things about it. This has become my go to pallet for an everyday look. There is a use for every color. They are super pigmented and go on smoothly. This is a great pallet for blue eyes. Really makes mine look good. If you don't have this pallet then go out and get it. Overall this get five lippies. The price is fantastic I think I paid about $5.00 with tax included. The packaging is nothing fantastic but it gets the job done. I will repurchase this pallet when I use it up.
