Crème -Cover Girl - Simply Ageless
SwissMiss528 1/10/2012 10:23:00 PM
I had alot to like about this product, but also alot to dislike...I loved how the lightest shade actually matched my pale skin and did not make me look pasty or orange-y. I loved how long the foundation lasted - even after long hours at work, I didn't need any touch ups! It also didn't transfer at the drop of a hat, which I also loved. BUT... It made my skin peel! I mean, my cheeks were REALLY, REALLY dry. Much drier than usual. I've never experienced that with a foundation, and to be honest, it kinda freaked me out. I also wasn't happy with what a small amount of product (and large amount of glass jar) you get for the price. I felt like it was practically gone after a short while and I had to buy foundation once again. So no, I will not be repurchasing...if someone has incredibly oily cheeks and no bills to pay, this might work for them.

Loose Powders -Physicians Formula - Mineral Wear Talc-Free Mineral Correcting Pebbles
SwissMiss528 2/13/2011 10:34:00 PM
So I got this because I couldn't find my usual correcting powder (E.L.F. Complexion Perfection). I also wanted to try something made in the USA, as I'm still leary of cosmetics that are made in China. So this one seemed to have the same claims, and considering that sometimes PF has some decent products, I decided to buy it. First off, I already was aware of PF's packaging and applicator "issues", so I can't say it surprised me to have a cheap, scratchy brush, or a useless puff. I threw them away and got out my beloved Kabuki brush. I swept it over the pebbles and applied like a mineral powder. It didn't do as much as I'd hoped, or even as much as ELF did. I noticed the shimmer (which, IMO, was a little much, but still do-able), and I did notice it brightened my skin out just a touch. I took a green pebble out and applied it like chalk to a red area of my face. It DID help a bit. I wasn't too crazy about how the pebbles were slightly crushed towards the bottom, and the dust flew out of the container, even when it's shut! I can't say I plan on taking this when I travel. I decided to use this up, but I don't plan on repurchasing. A little shimmer isn't worth $12 to me. While I'm still on the fence about ELF, I don't think this is a worthy alternative.

Masks -Unlisted Brand - Yogurt Mask
SwissMiss528 8/7/2010 12:15:00 AM
After reading the encouraging reviews on here, I decided to try this, as well as a sea salt mask twice a day. I bought Greek yogurt, because it's thicker and stays on the face easier. The only one they had left at the store was honey vanilla. There's no actual honey in it (which was a disappointment, as honey works very well on my skin) but there WAS lemon juice, which also makes my skin glow and purges the pores. I applied it and it stayed PUT, then I let it sit for about 1/2 hour. I'd applied it quite thick, so it took a while to wash off, but when it did come off, my skin felt amazingly soft, clean and refreshed. My pores had gotten smaller after a few minutes, too. Will definitely keep buying this! The only thing I didn't like about it was the fact that it needs to be refrigerated, and I usually don't use it all up before it expires because there's so much in one cup.

Masks -Unlisted Brand - Sea Salt Mask
SwissMiss528 8/7/2010 12:11:00 AM
So I used to be a 'sugar and honey' facial scrubber. But when ants started appearing everywhere, my mom put her foot down. No matter how hard I cleaned the tub or sink after using it, those darn ants would keep coming! So I had to stop using it. Which is a shame, because it worked beautifully on my face. Anywho! I began looking for another homemade facial product, and since we have recently begun using sea salt for our food at home, I decided to see how it worked on the face. Alot of the reviewers say they dissolve it in water, then apply to the face and let dry. Simple enough. So I tried this, twice a day, for a few days. Sea salt cleans my skin much better than any bar soap I've tried! Plus, a tiny bit goes a long way, so this batch I've got now will last FOREVER. My pores are a little smaller (which is amazing). I will definitely keep using this, and a Greek yogurt facial mask occasionally (also a great facial treatment, along with the sea salt).

Moisturizers -Unlisted Brand - Extra Virgin Olive Oil
SwissMiss528 3/31/2010 11:20:00 PM
I had great results using this on my face as a moisturizer, so I tried it on my hair. While it didn't do any harm, I didn't see much difference. I suppose my hair was a little softer, but not enough to continue using this in my hair. I guess I'll just stick to using it on my skin and on my food. As for my skin, I like it because it adds some glow to my skin and it cleanses it lightly. I ran out for a while and didnt have any, so I used a generic facial moisturizer...blah. I was glad to get more EVOO :)

Moisturizers -Vaseline - Petroleum Jelly

After reading most of the rave reviews on this product, I decided to use this after putting on my EVOO before bed. I spread a small amount all over my face after using EVOO. In the morning I was pleasantly surprised to see my skin was more beautiful than ever! Soft, smooth, and more even-toned. After using this a few nights in a row, I noticed that I no longer needed foundation-just a tiny bit of concealer over a few small scars. My skin looked great, no foundation required! I am so happy I decided to try this. I will never need to pay big bucks for moisturizers! There's silly rumors about this product, but I haven't seen anything to be alarmed over. Make sure to research things thoroughly before believing a bunch of hooey....sometimes "big beauty" companies will rumor a cheaper product like this, so they don't lose money from hundreds of women switching from their $100 "miracle" product, to VASELINE ;)

Treatments -Unlisted Brand - Honey
SwissMiss528 1/29/2010 1:11:00 AM
A year and a half ago I decided to stop playing games with chemical-laden face products that never gave great results. After extensive research on the Web, I decided to make my own scrub (1 part honey, 1 part sugar) and use it twice a day on my acne prone skin. BOY WHAT A DIFFERENCE! Acne became a thing of the past after a few weeks! I also use this as a "mask" for my nose area (LARGE pores) and it seems to reduce their size quite well. I will never go back to drugstore skin care. This is a staple product for me, for life!

Bronzers -Unlisted Brand - Mistura 6-in-1 Beauty Solution
SwissMiss528 12/3/2009 9:53:00 PM
I got a mini-size of this product (not the full size), which came with 1/8 oz of their Luminada moisturizer and a mini Kabuki brush. The moisturizer illuminates darker areas and primes the skin for the powder. The powder is very versatile. My skin is EXTREMELY light (most foundations, even in the lightest shade, turn up yellow on my skin!). This blended perfectly and looked extremely natural, to my delight. Not too orange or yellow at all. A little bit goes a long way (as they warn you!), so I was careful not to use too much. It gives a nice, warm bronzey shade on the cheeks, nose and forehead. I do have to wear a separate concealer to hide acne scars, but this powder helps to hide the "spots" that the concealer tends to give! I also tried using it as a lip color and eyeshadow. It looks beautiful as a lip color-not too overpowering. On me it comes out to a warm brown (I dabbed a little on over my clear lip balm). As an eyeshadow it turned an obnoxious peach-making my eyes look very odd. I was happy to discover it wipes off quite easily with water, so I wasn't stuck with "peach eyes" all day! Overall I'm quite pleased with this product, and intend to re-purchase :-)
