Cleansers -Unlisted Brand - Boo Bamboo Nourishing Face Wash
Sweetie1 4/13/2013 1:18:00 PM
I'm surprised how much this lathers despite being sulphate free. I use it in the morning, and it doesn't make my face feel tight afterwards. At first I thought it was a bit expensive for the amount you get (5.07 oz.; the bottle looks so small), but the ingredients were so good that it was hard to pass up. I bought this at my local grocery store (HEB in central TX) with a two-dollar coupon. You also need VERY LITTLE of the product to create a nice lather, so I believe it will last longer than first expected. I don't know if this takes off makeup since I like to use in the morning. I couldn't find any information about the skincare line for Boo Bamboo except that it is made in Canada. I listed the ingredients on the top so that you have a better idea if this is for you or not.

Moisturizers -Grassroots - Bamboo Leaf Ultra Soothing Anti-Redness Cream
Sweetie1 8/29/2009 1:18:00 PM
I only had to use this once to decide if I liked it...verdict - nope. I have extremely sensitive skin and this moisturizer instantly made my cheeks a bit ruddy followed by tiny irritation bumps all over including my forehead, no burning sensation though. Although this formulation did not agree with me, it may not be a bad thing for most people. Remarkably, I might keep the moisturizer because it feels so very nice to use on my chapped hands--no irritation & non-greasy, unlike other lotions/creams I've tried for my hands; won't buy again though. It is quite expensive for what you are getting and some people may not like the jar concept. It is fragrance-free & has a thick creamy consistency which does somewhat penetrate my skin, but I felt that it leaves a siliconey feel on top of the skin--kind of like a protective barrier. So if you are interested in trying this, get it at Kohl's since it can be returned if it doesn't meet your expectations.

Liquid -Merle Norman - Luxiva Lasting Foundation
Sweetie1 3/23/2009 10:12:00 PM
Looked a bit maskey when the SA applied it, but I think she was a bit heavy handed. I matched with Soft Bisque in the neutral range - for reference, I am a MAC NC35. I will update if I have problems with it. Update: No breakouts and it keeps me extra matte. The emphasis is EXTRA...that's actually the only problem - my face feels so dry (I'm naturally very oily!) Update: I kept getting clogged pores on my nose and I had some irritation from this (I have sensitive skin as well). I wanted to list the ingredients for those of you who might find it useful:
Titanium Dioxide (8%), Isododecane, Isohexadecane, Zinc Oxide, Iron Oxides, Butylene/Ethylene/Propylene Copolymer, Silica, Polymethyl Methacrylate, Disteardimonium Hectorite, Talc, Polyglyceryl-3 Disostearate, Polyethylene, Retinyl Palmitate, Tocopheryl Acetate, Tetrahexyldecyl Ascorbate, Triethoxycaprylsilane, Propylene Carbonate, Ethylene Brassylate, Benzyl Alcohol 011405

Powder -MAC - Studio Fix Powder Plus Foundation
Sweetie1 3/10/2009 9:24:00 PM
This review is for MAC Studio Fix Powder Plus Foundation. I have oily, sensitive, acne-prone skin and this did quite well. I blot my face much less throughout the day and the foundation did not come off like some liquid foundations I have tried. I used a kabuki brush to apply this powder because the sponge gives a heavier coverage and looks too flat. I do not like the fact that this foundation shows the tiniest flakes on my face at first, but once my natural oils come out, it looks okay. Also, I experienced some itchiness within the first couple of hours of application; however, it subsided as my face produced more of the "wonderful" natural oils. I have not experienced any breakouts, but I will update later if this does. I have listed the actual ingredients that show on the box for those who are sensitive to glycols (no parabens found in the ingredients either): Update - clogged my pores and some irritation. I still think this is a good powder foundation for those who are not acne-prone.
Talc, Silica, Isostearyl Palmitate, Methicone, Caprylyl Glycol, Hexylene Glycol, Phenoxyethanol (+/- Titanium Dioxide Ci77891, Iron Oxides Ci77491 Ci77492 Ci77499, Chromium Oxide Greens Ci77288, Ultramarines Ci77007).

Liquid -Neutrogena - Skin Clearing Oil-Free Makeup
Sweetie1 3/8/2009 11:33:00 AM
This foundation is okay. It has a good matte, med. coverage, except that it can look maskey. The shades seem to run a bit lighter on the skin than what you see in the bottle. So, I decided on shade Fresh Beige 70 (ref. NC 35). I normally have oily skin, but I need to use a HA serum before applying the foundation since it does give my skin some dryness/creases on my cheeks if I don't use anything underneath. I don't like how the bottle opening and the cap collect too much of the foundation after shaking the bottle before applying--it's just very messy. A big plus is that I have not had any breakouts so far. Update: this was great the first week, but then I slowly started developing breakouts. Here are the ingredients for this new foundation with "Microclear Technology":
Active Ingredient: Salicylic Acid (0.5%). Inactive Ingredients: Water, Cyclomethicone, Cyclopentasiloxane, Talc, C12-15 Alkyl Benzoate, Dipropylene Glycol, Polyglyceryl-4 Oleate, Silicone Polyether Copolymer, Synthetic Wax, Matricaria (Chamomilla Recutita) Flower Extract, C12-15 Alkyl Lactate, Cocamidopropyl PG-Dimonium Chloride Phosphate, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice, Retinyl Palmitate, Tocopheryl Acetate, Cetyl Lactate, Pantothenic Acid, Ascorbic Acid, Polysilicone-11, Polymethyl Methacrylate, Dimethicone, Quaternium-18 Hectorite, PEG-8 Propylene Glycol Cocoate, Silica, Silica Silylate, Alumina, Polyhydroxystearic Acid, Benzalkonium Chloride, Ethylene Brassylate, Propylene Carbonate, Sodium Chloride, Methylparaben, Propylparaben, Diazolidinyl Urea. May Contain: Iron Oxides, Titanium Dioxide

Liquid -Estee Lauder - Nutritious Vita-Mineral SPF 10
Sweetie1 2/19/2009 9:41:00 PM
This is nice, but it leaves a tacky finish on me. I have to use a powder to set it. It has a light to med. coverage--covers redness and uneven skintone, but you will still need a concealer to cover up any blemishes. I matched well with Intensity 3 (ref. MAC NC30-35 closer to 35). Also, this doesn't keep my oilies away. I have to blot constantly, but I'll keep this one since it hasn't caused breakouts. Update: Developed breakouts and irritation.
Active Ingredient: Titanium Dioxide 2.40% Ingredients: Water\Aqua\Eau, Cyclopentasiloxane, Phenyl Trimethicone, Glycerin, Butylene Glycol, Hdi/Trimethylol Hexyllactone Crosspolymer, Peg-10 Dimethicone, Dimethicone, Quaternium-90 Bentonite, Silica, Octyldodecyl Stearoyl Stearate, Ethylhexylglycerin, Phenyl Methicone, Punica Granatum (Pomegranate) Sterols, Polysilicone-11, Trifluoromethyl C1-4 Alkyl Dimethicone, Polyglyceryl-4 Isostearate, Hexyl Laurate, Cetyl Peg/Ppg-10/1 Dimethicone, C9-15 Fluoroalcohol Phosphate, Laureth-7, Lecithin, Propylene Carbonate, Tocopheryl Acetate, Triethoxycaprylylsilane, Methicone, Talc, Nylon-12, Zinc Stearate, Tetrahexyldecyl Ascorbate, Alumina, Zeolite, Sodium Chloride, Xanthan Gum, Magnesium Aluminum Silicate, Calcium Silicate, Disodium Edta, Potassium Sorbate, Sorbic Acid, Sodium Dehydroacetate, Phenoxyethanol, Chlorphenesin, [+/- Titanium Dioxide (Ci 77891), Mica, Iron Oxides (Ci 77491, Ci 77492, Ci 77499), Zinc Oxide (Ci 77947), Chromium Hydroxide Green (Ci 77289)]

Skincare - Face -Estee Lauder - Take It Away total make up remover
Sweetie1 2/19/2009 7:50:00 PM
This is highly fragranced, but it works for me. Although I have sensitive skin, this does not make my face red or bumpy. I massage this on dry face, then wipe off with a wet cotton cleansing pad. It leaves my skin soft, not oily. Best of all, no breakouts! It's good to remember that this is a makeup remover, not a cleanser. I follow up with a toner.
Ingredients: Water\Aqua\Eau, C11-12 Isoparaffin, Butylene Glycol, Hordeum Vulgare (Barley) Extract\Extrait D'orge, Triticum Vulgare (Wheat) Germ Extract, Acrylates/C10-30 Alkyl Acrylate Crosspolymer, Peg-8 Dilaurate, Sodium Laureth Sulfate, Squalane, Tromethamine, Fragrance (Parfum), Phenoxyethanol, Methylparaben, Ethylparaben, Propylparaben, Butylparaben, Isobutylparaben, Yellow 5 (Ci 19140), Green 5 (Ci 61570)

Liquid -T. LeClerc - T.LeClerc Matte Foundation
Sweetie1 12/13/2008 10:42:00 AM
This review is for the newly reformulated T. LeClerc Matte Fluid Foundation SPF 20. I got this in shade Beige Mat, which is a good match for MAC NC 30-35. Overall, I love the formulation--it reminds me of Giorgio Armani Matte Silk (used shade 5.5) in the way it feels and looks on the skin, minus the alcohol. It's not heavy and it has a medium coverage. I tried to layer, but it doesn't give full coverage--you will need a concealer to cover up blemishes. There are a few things about this foundation that I dislike, though. This is very expensive, $50! There are no returns/exchanges with some e-retailers, so beware. Also, I hate the cheap pump. It gets stuck in the middle of pressing down and then it squirts an excess in various directions..makes me rethink the $50 bucks, right? There is a slight fragrance to this, but I don't mind it and my skin doesn't rebel from it either. I'll continue to use this since it doesn't cause breakouts and I like the finish. I also think that, in order for this to look completely matte and keep the oilies away, you will need a finishing powder of some sort. UPDATE: This is not a picture friendly foundation--it shows up maskey. Also, I think it gives me some clogged pores.

Cleansers -Peter Thomas Roth - Chamomile Cleansing Lotion
Sweetie1 12/7/2008 9:55:00 PM
This is a nice cleanser, but it does have a strong scent to it. I like that it takes off my makeup and did not irritate my sensitive skin. I will update if this causes breakouts or if it dries up my skin. Don't like that it's a bit expensive, but you do get a big bottle 8.5 fl. oz. and use a little bit each time since it lathers quite a bit. UPDATE: experienced breakouts. These are the actual ingredients from the bottle that I bought at an Ulta store:
Purified Water, Disodium Lauroamphodiacetate, Sodium Trideceth Sulfate, Cocamidopropyl Betaine, Glycerin, Lauramide DEA, Glycol Stearate, Stearamide AMP, Oleic Acid, Coconut Acid, Natural Chamomile Flower Extract, Oat Kernel Extract, Symphytum Officinale Extract, Propylene Glycol, Butylene Glycol, Carbomer, Disodium EDTA, Triethanolamine, Methylparaben, Sodium Hydroxide, Propylparaben, Fragrance
