Foundations -Maybelline - New Instant Age Rewind
rated 5 of 5
SusanC0425 9/19/2011 1:31:00 AM

I needed to replace my Instant Rewind Concealer in the double tube (with the highlighter on one end), and found that this product replaced it. Good for me, since I never used the highlighter end anyway. This new packaging is OK, though I do wish they would just put this in a tube. However, the product itself does just what I want - conceals without looking like anything is there. I loved the original for that reason, and that is why I didn't mind paying but only using half the product. This replacement is a step in the right direction. Next stop - tube, I hope!

Skincare - Body -Unlisted Brand - Boudreaux's Butt Paste
rated 4 of 5

I saw this as a featured review, and was intrigued. Read the review and picked up a tube at Walgreens. I put this on my son's chin, to see how it might help with his acne, and it did take the red out and clear things up a bit. What I'm most impressed about is that I put this on my toes for ingrown toenails. I woke up the next morning with no pain! I did try this on my dry heels, and they are slightly better after one use. This doesn't go on like a paste (white like Desitin, for example), but liquifies and goes on clear. I'm sure I'll continue to find uses for this.

Lipstick -Maybelline - Moisture Extreme - Desert Bloom [DISCONTINUED]
rated 5 of 5

This is a gorgeous MLBM (my lips but mauvier LOL) shade. It is a dead ringer for the LE MAC Sharp Beige. However, I have not been able to find this in the stores lately, and fear it has been discontinued. I adore the Moisture Extreme lipsticks, and highly recommend them. I'm a NC25ish for reference.

Eye Shadow -NYX - 3 Color Eyeshadow
rated 3 of 5
SusanC0425 7/21/2007 11:43:00 PM

This was my first try with NYX, and I have to say I'm disappointed. It may be the trio that I picked - TS03, nude/taupe/dark brown. I agree with nowornever56 that the e/s is not very pigmented. It gives a slightly polished look, but I had to really pack things on over a Clinique Touch Base to get it to show up. I may try another trio, based on the raves here, but this one just didn't turn my tractor.

Lips -Wet 'n' Wild - Mega Slicks Retractable Pencil
rated 3 of 5
SusanC0425 12/17/2006 2:52:00 AM

To me, these feel like UD Pleather pencils. And I have the same problem with the WnW ones as I did with the Pleathers - I can't find a shade that is decent. I tried Amaretto Spice, thinking it would be a nice fall color, but it is a pretty garish red on me. I exchanged it for the brownish shade, and that was a mistake - very cool and metallic when on the lips, giving me that corpse-like appearance I try to avoid. I thought it might be a nice nude. I'll keep my eye on these if any other shades become available (the others I saw looked too "crayon-y" to me).

Eye Shadow -Wet 'n' Wild - Mega Eyes Trio - Belgian Chocolates [DISCONTINUED]
rated 5 of 5
SusanC0425 12/9/2006 10:17:00 PM

This is my favorite of the WnW e/s trios. This is wonderful on my NC25ish skin, and is not too dark or glittery (I was worried about this as I looked at them in the pan). Lasted all day, and in fact, looks even better as the day goes on, as it all blends together even more. I highly recommend this trio, and like it better on me than Egyptian Sands - gives a more defined and "exotic" look. Though, don't get me wrong, you need Egyptian Sands, too! LOL!

Lipstick -MAC - Sharp Beige - Deneuve Collection
rated 5 of 5
SusanC0425 11/17/2006 9:20:00 AM

As I was putting on SB the other day, I noticed that it was getting quite low and I was trying to figure out how I would replace it since it was LE. As I looked at it, I thought "You know, I wonder how similar it is to Maybelline Moisture Extreme in Dessert Bloom" which I had recently bought. Swatched both on my hand, a white tissue and my lips, and it is pretty much an exact match! So, for those of you in mourning because SB was LE, go pick up Dessert Bloom! I am NC 25-30, brown hair, brown eyes. I like the tint of mauve this gives off. It is like my lips but mauvier LOL.

Treatments -Biotherm - PURE BRIGHT Illuminating Essence
rated 3 of 5
SusanC0425 6/9/2006 12:38:00 PM

I bought this due to raves on the boards, and reviews in P'ville. While I love the scent of this product, it didn't do anything for my skin. I didn't notice any brightening, or clarifying of my complexion. My skin did feel smoother. For the price, I expected more, and won't repurchase. I have gone back to Clinique Total Turn Around Concentrate - with TTA, I definitely notice clarification AND smoothness. On the plus side, the bottle and pump for the Pure Bright serum are wonderful.

Liquid -MAC - Studio Fix Fluid SPF 15
rated 4 of 5
SusanC0425 5/8/2006 8:39:00 PM

I really like the finish and coverage of this foundation, but cannot find a shade that will match. Applied with the MAC 187 brush, and buffed into the skin, the finish is very nice and natural. I did find if I built up the coverage, it looked much less natural though. Lasts well through the day. I do wonder if the shades are consistent from batch to batch, as the NC30 the MA tried on me from her samples seemed much lighter than what I brought home in my bottle. I am currently an Stila IPF in 40 watts, and couldn't find a good match from NC25, NC30, NC35 or NC37, or even the NW shades in NW25, 30 and 35.

Lipstick -Clinique - Butter Shine Lipstick - Pink Goddess
rated 4 of 5
SusanC0425 10/21/2005 2:25:00 PM

I love the feel of the Buttershines on my lips. They remind me a bit of Revlon Moisturous lipsticks. I got the shade Pink Goddess, as that was a rather unique shade for me - I had thought to get Praline or Delovely, but realize I have about 15 variations of each of those shades already LOL! PG is a very nice pink on me - I'm a NC25ish. I like the slight shimmer. The case is just adorable. I will definitely purchase more Butter Shines!

Eye Shadow -Clinique - Color Surge Duo in Strawberry Fudge
rated 5 of 5
SusanC0425 4/14/2005 10:49:00 PM

I got this duo in a gwp, and it is wonderful! This may be the only pink e/s I can wear - others make me look like I've been crying. This is a goldish pink, and the shimmery brown is just such a lovely contour shade. If I ever use up the gwp, I will repurchase the full size.

Blush -MAC - Strada
rated 5 of 5
SusanC0425 4/13/2005 6:21:00 PM

I completely agree with the previous reviewer - this blush should be named "Suprise" instead of "Strada". I got it sight unseen in a swap, going by the shade description on the MAC websight, knowing full well the swatches there are terrible ("soft, muted pinkish beige"). Actually, the swatch looks much prettier than the blush in the pan LOL! I am NC25ish, and this shows as a very subtle beiged pink on me. Very nice and natural looking.

Lipstick -Guerlain - Divinora #480
rated 5 of 5
SusanC0425 3/11/2005 7:13:00 PM

I adore this lipstick! I am normally not a fan of matte lipsticks, but this one is a "juicy" matte, meaning my lips still look lusious with it on. I, too, was swayed by the Nov 2004 Allure/Angelina Jolie article. As a previous reviewer stated, it is a nude nude, not peach, brown, pink. I love this with MAC Stone l/l used lightly to define. The packaging cannot be beat for pure luxury!

Highlighters -Unlisted Brand - Mally Beauty Light Wand
rated 3 of 5
SusanC0425 3/11/2005 10:54:00 AM

Agree with Maureen, the packaging of this item is so attractive! I would have loved to have this in my collection, but returned it to QVC because I just didn't like the product itself. I found the pencil end a bit greasy with a tendency to ball up when smudged. The powder end was just too much for this 42 year old, very glittery. In concept, this is a great idea, but the product didn't live up to my expectations.

Skincare - Body -Lather - 4 Piece Head to Toe Pampering Kit
rated 5 of 5
SusanC0425 3/4/2005 4:41:00 PM

I ordered this kit from the QVC Day of Beauty special. It includes 4 different items: AHA Hand Creme with Evening Primrose - very nice silky creme. Bamboo Lemongrass Foaming Body Scrub - more "scratchy" than other scrubs I've used. However, I do feel quite soft when I come out of the shower! Manuka Body Butter with Grapefruit and Juniper - nice scent, and easily absorbed, even though it has shea butter in it (which I've found in the past to be quite hard to soften up and apply) Lavender and Eucalyptus Foot Creme - I love this! Thinner than other foot creams, it none the less softens my heals. I like the scent very much, not overpowering. IMO, this was a great value for only ~$19. The jars look small, but they are lasting me a long time. This was my first foray into Lather, and will not be my last!
