Eye Shadow -Urban Decay - Roach eyeshadow

on my NC25 Asian skintone, this turns chocolate brown. it loses the red/purple i see in the pan, but maybe the yellow in my skin neutralizes that. so it's not quite what i was hoping for but still a nice enough brown. it complements and smokes out purple and pink eyeshadows well. on it's own, however, it doesn't do much for my eyes.

definitely one of my favorite UD eyeshadows! it complements my dark brown eyes and NC25 Asian skintone. it's very versatile: can be worn sheer for a natural look or applied heavier for a smokey eye.

Eye Shadow -Urban Decay - Chopper Eye Shadow
rated 4 of 5

i've had this in the Ammo palette for over a year and have never touched it until today, because i was scared of the glitter. i thought i'd give it a fair shot though, and i'm glad i did! the UD website describes this as "coppery fawn w/ silver microglitter" and i think that's pretty accurate. i'd say this is light-medium, definitely darker than Sin which pairs up nicely with it. on my NC25 Asian skin, it turns up more peachy than orange. pretty! it brings out the amber in my dark brown eyes. i actually like the glitter in this; i make sure to tap off the excess against the sink before i apply. i do find some shimmer on my cheeks but the particles are small, i don't really mind - it's the chunky stuff i can't stand.

Lip Treatments -Fresh - Sugar Lip Treatment SPF 15
rated 5 of 5
Sungheeya 11/13/2009 12:14:00 AM

this has become my favorite lip product! it's really expensive, yes, but i can't do without it now. the first few days i used this, my lips peeled like crazy. my big lips were always flakey no matter what i tried but i'm talking about serious peeling with this. i'm glad i kept with it though because it's like the dead layer was removed and my lips are now smooth, moisturized, and don't peel or flake at all. i think this is true to being a lip *treatment* and that the sugar in it seriously exfoliates, especially when you rub your lips together. also, in general, sugar has antioxidant properties and acts as a humectant (attracts moisture from the air). this product is soft so it has to be applied sparingly, and yes, it's not a good idea to put it in your pocket or keep in your car. it leaves a nice sheen on the lips, though not glossy. for me, the scent is like lemon cake so i love it. i love the sophisticated packaging - the metal tube with screw cap. it's great that this has SPF. i do use a different non-SPF lip balm at night so my lips don't get addicted to this. other lip balms, like Burt's Bees and Weleda Everon, while i still think they're great, now feel very waxy and not as moisturizing in comparison.

Moisturizers -Caudalie - Vinoperfect Day Perfecting Cream SPF 15
rated 4 of 5
Sungheeya 11/12/2009 10:32:00 PM

this is my HG day cream. it's moisturizing and gentle enough for my acne-prone/sensitive/combination skin and doesn't clog my pores. it has a great, smooth texture. it does need a few minutes to sink in. only a small amount is needed - i rub it between my hands and then pat it onto my face. i gave this 4 lippies because the SPF is pretty low and i'm not sure how effective it is, especially since i use such a small amount - using 1/4 tsp would be ridiculous with this. let me just say that after using this for several months now, i haven't noticed darkening of my skin and my home and workplace have giant windows and skylights. so the low SPF doesn't bother me too much. everything else about this cream is great - it makes my skin glow and works well under base makeup. it's expensive but i think it's worth it. i've already purchased a backup.

Moisturizers -Caudalie - Vinoperfect Night Correcting Cream
rated 5 of 5
Sungheeya 11/12/2009 10:10:00 PM

after the first week of using this product, i definitely noticed lightening and i think it helps to prevent also. after several months of use, i can't say this is best for drastic results, but then again, i have some old, deep marks that may take a very long time to go away with something stronger. i think this is good if you have minor hyperpigmentation and are looking for brightening, rather than serious skin whitening. this is a good choice if you have sensitive skin that can't tolerate other actives. the active lightening ingredients in this are AHAs which gently exfoliate. AHAs are also good for anti-aging and mild acne. i have very acne-prone/sensitive/combination skin and this has never broken me out. in fact, i see only positive, visible results when using this cream. when i wake up, my skin looks healthy and glowing! i've noticed that my skin seems firmer, too. it's moisturizing but not greasy and drier skin may need more moisture. i love the texture - the cream melts when it touches the skin and spreads easily. only a tiny amount is needed. the smell is mild. as with all Caudalie products, this has grape extract which is full of antioxidants so that's a bonus. with all of the benefits, this cream is an excellent all-around preventative anti-aging and brightening night cream. it's well worth the money and i've already purchased a backup of it.

Eyeliner -Sephora - Jumbo Eye Pencil - Pink 507Y
rated 5 of 5
Sungheeya 11/10/2009 5:51:00 PM

i love this pencil! i got it because it's supposedly a dupe for Benefit's Eye Bright. i use it on the waterline, instead of a white pencil, to open up my eyes. i am NC25 and it looks very natural and covers redness well. it also stays on all day until i wash it off! i posted the picture with the 3 swatches to show a comparison between Stila Kajal in Topaz, Sephora Pink 507Y, and Ulta Halo. Topaz is too dark, bright, and peachy and Halo is yellow/cream-white; they both look unnatural and make me look unhealthy.

Pressed Powders -Urban Decay - De-Slick Mattifying Powder
rated 3 of 5
Sungheeya 10/25/2009 7:03:00 PM

first of all, i absolutely love the compact. it's gorgeous! the mirror is high quality and a good size. and while the puff seems cheap (probably because it's so thin and has a scratchy nylon backing), it's not that bad for touch ups - it has a decent, velvety texture. i usually use a powder brush to set my makeup in the morning, though. the thing is, i don't like the powder as much and i don't think it's worth the cost. it is transparent enough but the texture can be a bit chalky. i've noticed that it seems to take the fresh look out of my underlying foundation because it makes it look a little bit cakey, no matter how light the application is. it also doesn't keep my face matte for very long - maybe an hour. for reference, my skin is combination. overall, i just think the powder is mediocre and no better than anything you can find in a drugstore.

rated 5 of 5
Sungheeya 9/19/2009 11:30:00 AM

i've been using this every morning after i wash my face. the first time i used it, the redness in my skin became even more red, but a minute later, all of the redness was gone. since, it calms and balances my skin right away, and smells really good! i like the little glass bottle.

Treatments (Eye) -Decleor - Harmonie Soothing Eye Contour Gel
rated 3 of 5
Sungheeya 9/19/2009 11:00:00 AM

i got a sample of this. i think it's OK. it's does moisturize. i just don't think it's anything special. i also think the scent of the essential oils could irritate my eyes with continued use.

Moisturizers -Decleor - Aromessence Rose D'Orient Night Balm
rated 5 of 5
Sungheeya 9/19/2009 10:35:00 AM

this stuff is great! i got a sample with a Rose D'Orient introductory kit and i so want the full size jar. my skin has been trying to recover from a bad reaction to another product that left me with dry, raw, congested skin. after one night of using this, i woke up with my skin almost completely back to normal! i woke up with well-hydrated, smooth, clear skin. the scent is divine. and only a tiny amount warmed between the hands is necessary so i imagine one jar would last quite a long time.

Moisturizers -Decleor - Harmonie Gentle Soothing Cream

Sungheeya 9/19/2009 10:13:00 AM

i got a mini size jar of this with a Rose D'Orient introductory kit. i feel it's a basic moisturizer that smells really good. it doesn't irritate but it also doesn't smooth or reduce redness on my skin. i won't be repurchasing the full size because i don't think it's worth it for the price.

Sunscreen -Clinique - City Block Sheer Oil-Free Daily Face Protector Broad Spectrum 25 SPF
rated 1 of 5
Sungheeya 9/17/2009 2:20:00 AM

I had to return this. It gave me a bad reaction! When I used it all over my face, it seemed OK. Made my skin a bit pale so I tried to make up for it by using darker foundation. It just ended up looking like a mask, an aged one. The worst part is that over the day, my skin felt suffocated. It became rough and congested and I broke out. When I went to wash this stuff off, it seemed to want to take the top layer of my skin with it. I experienced horrible peeling! Now I have to work to undo the damage.

Brows -BeneFit Cosmetics - NEW BrowZings
rated 5 of 5
Sungheeya 9/7/2009 5:44:00 PM

i'm not sure what NEW is but i've been using Benefit's Brow Zings nearly everyday for the past five years. i repurchased it once. i think i'm going to again soon. so easy to use, looks and feels natural. definitely HG! UPDATE! ok, now i know what's new: the packaging and that's what you're paying the $2 more for (i uploaded a picture for you). i ordered this off of Sephora and it's different from what is pictured, the old packaging. the product itself, the wax and powder, are the same size. the new packaging is sleeker-looking, the brushes are labeled, and the tiny tweezers have been upgraded. though tiny, the tweezers can be compared to Tweezerman's! the only thing that's not that great is that the texture of the matte black case shows finger smudges easily. overall, though, i really like the packaging upgrade - it looks and feels more cute and high-end.

Eyeliner -Prestige - Total Intensity Eyeliner Deepest Black
rated 5 of 5
Sungheeya 9/6/2009 9:22:00 AM

This is my HG! I tried Prestige Waterproof pencil a few years ago and liked it well enough. I went to buy it again but couldn't find the pencil so I got the automatic. I really don't like the automatic. You can't sharpen it so it stays all the same thick width. The formula doesn't seem as good as in the pencil. It smudges. Anyway, I haven't worn eyeliner since. For reference, I have Asian single eyelids that have a tiny fold near the lash line (fellow monolids should know what I'm talking about). I decided to try eyeliner again and after a failed attempt with MUFE Aqua Eyes, I decided to try this one. It's the blackest black ever! It glides on smoothly. It's more solid than MUFE Aqua Eyes, which is a good thing. I tried it on my hand first and once it's dried, it doesn't smudge one bit! I then tried lining my eyes, kept them closed for a minute to let it dry and no smudging either. Whenever I blink, the tiny fold near my lash line smudges anything I put there, but this eyeliner stayed put. I also tried tightlining another time and took a nap. I know it's bad for my eyes, but when I woke up, the eyeliner was still there, exactly as how I had applied it. The only thing is that this eyeliner is not sweat-proof. It's my go-to eyeliner for the evening, and I will probably use it more when the weather cools.
