Moisturizers -Alba Botanica - Sea Plus Renewal Night Cream

The one thing this claims to do - reduce discoloration after 2 weeks - did not happen for me. The dark/age spots are still there at the end of the jar. However this is a nice natural cruelty-free moisturizer from a reliable company and worth a try. I used it both morning and night - it isn't so greasy you can't put on makeup after. But not so great that I noticed any textural or other improvements. I am surprised people didn't like the scent: I found it pleasant, not perfumey. I'm marking it down mainly for not working as hoped and marking it as a "not buy again" because since that didn't happen, there are probably other moisturizers that achieve the same basic purpose.

Primer/ Corrector -E.L.F. - Wrinkle Refiner
rated 3 of 5

This doesn't seem to make a difference for me. I am still tinkering with it, trying to see the results some other reviewers are seeing. I have not used it under my eyes, just on my forehead and the one (one!) nasolabial wrinkle. The applicator gets "clogged" easily.

Polishes -Revlon - Top Speed Nail Polish

I got two bottles from my mother in law - Stormy and Vintage - love the colors, love the quick-dry, but boy oh boy this stuff is terrible on my nails. After wearing it for even a few days, my nails start to split and peel like whoa. I have to chop them all off and let them grow out healthy again. I usually wear clear polish that's free of formaldehyde, toluene, etc., so maybe this freaked out my poor nailsies. Glad I didn't buy it for myself. It doesn't seem to have such a terrible effect on my toes, so I'll keep them, but I certainly won't subject my hands to this again.

Lipstick -Essence - Lipstick

This has a good consistency, feels moisturizing, but the color lasts quite a while even though I'd describe it as more sheer than creamy/thick. I agree with Seramadis, it does have a nice, non-chemical scent. I really like that the different colors have matching tube colors. It's a clever idea and sure helps you grab the right one. I purchased four colors but only one is something I want to wear. Look At Me! - a terrific beigey/neutral frost. Quite nice, would definitely purchase again. Creamy Nude - I thought this would be more apricot/gold. I don't like it on me at all. It is so much lighter than my natural lip color, it makes me look a little ill. Or cold. Femme Fatale - bright burgundy, a bit juvenile. Also not what I was expecting, but not bad. It's wearable. If you're hoping for a dark burgundy this isn't it. Red Carpet - more of a coral/bright red than a true cherry red. Would not purchase again for my complexion, but it would be nice on a sunny blonde. According to their website, this company does not test on animals, which is a huge bonus for me.

Liquid -Sonia Kashuk - Perfecting Liquid Foundation
rated 5 of 5
Suasoria 2/24/2011 6:39:00 PM

I've used this, and only this, for years now and it's better than others that are double or triple the price. I'm not the first to say it but most cheap foundations are just too pink/peach. The "vanilla" shade is perfect for my fair but olive skintone - the best color match I've found. This goes on smoothly, isn't too heavy or mask-like, doesn't smell like a chemical soup, not too dry, not too greasy, blends well...it's just right. (The tinted moisturizer is pretty good too.) Recently the packaging has been changed from a pump bottle that was nice to look at to a pump/tube hybrid that isn't as sleek but works about as well. The main difference is now I can't see how much is left in the container. I'm not in love with the pump style. I think it's difficult to get just the right amount. So, only 3 lippies on the packaging. I am also told that SK does not test products on animals, which is a huge plus in my book.

Mascara -E.L.F. - Studio Mineral Infused Mascara
rated 3 of 5
Suasoria 4/5/2010 4:03:00 PM

It is definitely not HG mascara but it's a great value. It's a striking, really dark black color but I find it a bit sticky, which makes it difficult to add multiple coats. The brush could be better but it doesn't bother me. Unlike others I don't find it very "lengthening." In fact I feel like it's adding volume without length - maybe because I'm not used to the extreme blackness. It's difficult to remove with soap and water and needs a remover of some sort or at least a swipe with lotion.

Eye Primer -E.L.F. - Eyelid Primer
rated 1 of 5

There are so many wonderful reviews of this product on the web, I wonder if I'm doing something wrong. I've never used a primer before. I've used it many times and don't notice a difference in the longevity or pigmentation of my shadows. Perhaps if you have oily skin that doesn't take powder shadows well this is helpful. On my dry to normal skin, it doesn't do much of anything.

Eye Shadow -E.L.F. - Liquid Eyeshadow in Sultry Satin
rated 2 of 5
Suasoria 4/5/2010 3:04:00 PM

While I like the color, a taupey champagne beige, this is more glittery than frosty, making it a bit too extreme for everyday. It would be fun to use, but the consistency is not very good and it's hard to blend. It's also difficult to apply liner over it. The one I received could have been dried out, though. Your mileage may vary.

Makeup Brushes -E.L.F. - Eyeshadow Brush
rated 4 of 5
Suasoria 4/5/2010 2:44:00 PM

This is a really great brush for highlighting and blending. (It's too big for lids and creases.) The control is good, the bristles are stiff enough not to "splay" so product goes where you want it to go. I will definitely order more whenever I see another code.

Makeup Brushes -E.L.F. - Studio Small Angled Brush
rated 5 of 5
Suasoria 4/5/2010 2:42:00 PM

This is an excellent brush. I use it with Stila smudge pot as well as cake liner. It works for a very fine line or a more dramatic look. The bristles are stiff enough to stay where you want them to go. They don't "splay." I will definitely order another next time I see a code, because if I ever lose this one I'll be very upset!

Moisturizers -Paula's Choice - RESIST Barrier Repair Moisturizer
rated 3 of 5
Suasoria 4/5/2010 2:34:00 PM

Very light and nongreasy under makeup or at night, absorbs quickly, no irritation. It's an interesting thing to get used to since it doesn't leave your skin feeling "moist." I quite like the feel of it. However after almost 3 months of 2x daily use I can't see any difference in my skin - no compliments from total strangers, no lessening of the uneven patch of skin on my jaw, no disappearing lines. I wasn't expecting miracles, but this is the first "adult"/anti-aging skincare product I've tried, so I wanted to notice something. The pump works fine for me, and I give it 4 lippies for having no unnecessary packaging like boxes.
