Polishes -Essie - Berry Hard
Strawberi123 4/30/2008 4:44:00 PM
LOVE this colour. I'd been searching for a great, deep, dark berry red, and this is it! I like Wicked, but it's just a bit too dark and plummy for me. This one looks almost black in the shade, but in most lighting, you can tell it is a deep RED...not purple-ish or brown-ish, but a pretty berry red. :) My only complaint is that it takes three coats to achieve bottle shade, and the first two coats look streaky. Most of the time, I only need to apply two coats, but this one needs three. Love it for fingers and toes!

Mascara -Lancome - Courbe Virtuose (Divine Lasting Curves)

I liked the brush as it really encouraged and held a nice curl, but the formula is a little stiff and flakey. This is also the first mascara that left little smudge marks near my eyes if I smiled a lot. Would have gotten a 4.5 if it didn't smudge and wasn't so stiff. Just ok.

Mascara -Chanel - Inimitable Mascara Multi-Dimensionnel
Strawberi123 4/21/2008 12:49:00 PM
Terrible. I tried this mascara because I'd read so many rave reviews, and maybe it works for some people, but for me, it was just SUPER CLUMPY. It weighed down my lashes and bunched them up into 3-4 huge clumps per eye. I tried wiping the brush down a little to get rid of excess product, but that only helped marginally and wasted a lot of the expensive product. I have mixed asian-causasian lashes. Fairly long, but straight and not very thick. Total thumbs down for me. :(

Mascara -Yves Saint Laurent - Mascara Volume Effet Faux Cils

Expensive, but a truly great mascara! It really lengthens and volumizes, and even curls a bit. Formula is a bit wet when brand new, but doesn't try out too quickly like Diorshow. It has a nice, subtle smell (not too perfume-y like Diorshow can be). I bought it in brown because black was sold out, and I am so happy with the colour choice! My hair is dark brown, skin is olive, and eyes are hazel, and the brown mascara really brings out my eye colour. It is less harsh than black but still looks black except in bright bright sunlight. LOVE!

Crème -BeneFit Cosmetics - Some Kind-A Gorgeous
Strawberi123 3/31/2008 1:23:00 PM
I hate foundation and never wear it...instead, I use this! It is so light that I don't feel it, and the coverage is sheer and very natural. I use my fingers to apply it just to my nose and a little on my forehead right between/above my eyebrows. As another member mentioned, I think finger application is more sanitary and allows you to better control where the product goes and how much you use. I am lucky to have very clear skin, so I love that this is not "make-up-y" and just smooths over some visible pores. I have light tan/olive skin with slight pinky undertones in the winter (mixed brown and yellow asian and caucasian), and the shade suits me all year round. I have a friend who prefers heavier coverage foundation and found Some-Kind-A-Gorgeous to be way too sheer. If you only need minimal coverage and like a smooth, light feel, this is for you!

Mascara -Christian Dior - Diorshow Mascara

-sigh- This is a toughie. I think it's really a love it or hate it product, and I can side with both camps... PROs: -When it's brand new, it make my straight lashes (I'm Spanish/Asian mix) long and curly and beautiful. I don't even use my curler with this mascara! -When it's new, it doesn't clump -Smells nice CONS: -Expensive -Smudgy when new, flaky when dry -Dries out suuuuppper quickly. If I could afford it, I'd buy a new tube every 2 weeks! That's way too often! -Once it dries out (after a couple weeks), the curling, lengthening, non-clumpy effects are gone. -The smell can be too perfume-y for some. So, I'm on the fence. I want to try Chanel Inimitable next, and if it's any better, I won't be buying this again.

Lipstick -Chanel - Aqualumiere Phi Phi

I love this colour! I was looking for a sheer, natural pink, and this one delivered. :-) I was a little put off by how pepto-Barbie pink the tube looks, but it applies very sheer, and the effect is totally natural. It makes my lips (which are already naturally a bit pink) look "blushed" but still neutral. Recommend!

Lip Gloss -Chanel - Equinoxe glossimer

I like this gloss a lot, but I had a hard time deciding whether or not I would really buy it again. I said yes, but I'm still not sure... This is very pretty (and fun to look at!) in the tube, and maybe even a little scary (waaay glittery--think Middle School sparkles), but comes out very sheer when applied. I only use one wand-full per application because it is very high shine, but I like the look a lot--a natural, sheer, pinky-plum-berry--and you can only see the sparkles if you look right up close. From afar, the sparkles just add to the shine. This gloss is gloopy and sticky, so if you don't like that consistency, it's not for you.

Polishes -OPI - Royal Rajah Ruby

Gorgeous colour!! I love the different effects this shade has in different lighting. It ranges from dark brown in the shade to sparkling deep garnet/ruby in the sun. It is truly beautiful. I applied two coats (with base and top coat), and it lasted me 5 days without chipping. A sales associate at Club Monaco asked me where I'd had my nails done (chez moi! hehe) and wrote down the colour so she could go get a bottle. I don't usually like shimmery polish, but this shimmer is only really notice-able in brighter lighting, and it adds so much depth and beauty. LOVE!

Polishes -Essie - Vinyl Bikini
Strawberi123 3/31/2008 10:46:00 AM
LOVE this polish! It is opaque in the bottle, but comes out very sheer when applied. Two coats makes the nail look super shiny, and natural--there is just a hint of milky white and the teeniest hint of shimmer of you look REALLY hard in the sunlight. It smells different than most polishes (maybe that glue-y component that another member mentioned). Overall, the perfect polish for natural, shiny, bright, clean looking nails. Definitely recommend. :-)

Polishes -OPI - Chick Flick Cherry

This is the first red polish I fell in love with. It is a clean, bright red creme--not too blue, not too orange. I prefer it for summer because it is on the brighter side of red (think rip strawberries). Yum!!!!

Lipstick -Laura Mercier - Healthy Lips Sheer lipstick
Strawberi123 3/28/2008 2:47:00 PM
This lipstick was an impulse buy for me last night at Nordstrom, but I love it! I put applied it this morning at work and then forgot I had it on. When I went to the bathroom a few hours later, I thought, "Wow, my lips look good...!" Then I realized it was my new lippie. :) Gives my olive complexion a heathly, natural lift! My lips are naturally slightly pink, and this doesn't look fuschia at all--more sheer red with a tinge of pink. I recommend!
