Palettes -Urban Decay - Naked Basics

You have to approach this palette accepting it as it is (like much in life!), not expecting more or less. What it is: A fabulously packaged set of eyeshadow for everyday or evening, tailor-made for people like me who like a more subtle look. Venus is a wonderful brightener for the tear-duct area; Foxy and W.O.S. great for overall lid color; Naked 2 for the crease; Faint makes a perfect eyebrow shade for brown hair (for those like me who don't like dark eyeshadow); and Crave is a fantastic eyeliner when wet with a good brush. What it isn't: drama. That said, you could do a smokey eye look using Faint... Overall, a winner. My only wish: wish instead of two lighter colors, Foxy had been deleted (since it is already in Naked 2), and a greyish taupe had been included instead. Then, this palette would be complete. Hope someone from UD keeps track of these reviews and those on Sephora's site since my opinion isn't unusual...

Palettes -Laura Mercier - Artist's Palette For Eyes

Wanted to love. Colors are gorgeous. African Violet in particular...absolutely beautiful, unique color. The packaging is great - just the right size to travel with, etc. but...the shadows don't go on evenly -- too much build-up in spots, and not buttery smooth as I'd hoped (of course they felt that way in the store). I'd hoped that Vanilla Nuts would be my new base shadow, and instead, find that my good old $2.99 WnW "Creme Brulee" is just as good. I find it really hard to pay LM prices on product that just doesn't deliver, at least IMO.

Eye Shadow -Revlon - Colorstay Quad "Addictive"
rated 5 of 5

Who knew. Been going to Sephora for weeks trying Urban Decay shadows (the matte and semi-mattes) and trying to find an excuse to spend the ridiculous amount it would cost to buy them separately instead of Naked I or II palette, since the only colors in them I would really use are the mattes, and here it is, staring me in the face, in my local Target. In heaven with this quad. Silky, not chalky. Each color provides enough pigment and together, they are lovely. Much more than the higher-end brands I'd been thinking of buying. Yay. Stocking up on this one.

Blush -Smashbox - Blush Rush in Gingersnap
rated 5 of 5

I'm fair, with skin that has a lot of red in it that I tone down under the cheeks, and since there is enough color already, I don't generally wear blush. But...was walking by the Smashbox counter at Nordstroms, and got pulled into the display. MUA got me to try the scary, green Smashbox primer that supposedly helps tone down the red, and then immediately went to Gingersnap as her suggested blush shade. Couldn't believe it, since the color looked so dark. Thought for sure she was mistaken, and pushed to try a more peachy/apricot shade to counter the red. HOWEVER...this is my HG blush. Makes me look just in from the cold, and not overly pink/red. If you are fair skinned, and tend to be a bit blotchy (lovely sounding, hmm), don't shy away from this color. It really works on fair skin, and looks so pretty. And - another plus - has just the right amount of shimmer. The teeniest bit, which helps just enough without going over the top (ie. NARS).

Blush -Cover Girl - Classic Color 'Soft Mink'
rated 3 of 5
Stellababe 10/17/2012 3:00:00 PM

Wanted to love it. Looks so natural and seemingly great, but once on, yuck. The color is, as others have said, a peachy/natural shade, but it has a lot of sheen to it, which seemed to make my pores stand out, and looked very UNnatural.

Lipstick -Revlon - Colorburst Lipstick in Rosy Nude
rated 5 of 5

FAB. I have to preface that I'm a natural makeup kind of person, so this color isn't a big surprise...but. So happy to have found it. Gone are my Bobbi Brown (sorry, BB) and Clinique lippies...I've been looking for a shade like this forever, and here it is...MLBB...and I don't have to think about the usual is-it-too-bland-too-brown-not-enough. It is the just right, just enough color for everyday (and night, for that matter). Give it a try - lovely color.

Lipstick -Clinique - Chubby Stick (all shades)
rated 5 of 5

YAY! Finally, Clinique has re-introduced the Chubby Stick. Was made available 2-3 weeks ago, and I bought the last tube of "Graped Up" at my local store -- a fabulous color for my fair skin tone - not too much color, but just enough. It is a great product - goes on very smoothly, and is tasteless. Love the color, and hope it sells well so I can continue to find it! Try it - you may love it.
