Loose Powders -MAC - Prep + Prime Transparent Finishing Powder
Starlyte 1/3/2013 4:10:00 PM
I love this powder and have repurchased it 3x. It's great for setting foundation and I like that it's translucent and doesn't add color to my foundation. I have combo-oily skin and while this doesn't provide that totally matte look, it gives a really nice, clean, natural finish. The older I get, the more I veer away from the made up, matte skin look and am more inclined towards a healthy, glowy finish. This powder gives me that effect!. I notice my foundations last longer with this and doesn't slide around or settle into my pores. I get shiny in my t-zone area after 3-4 hours but it's not an oily look so I'm ok with that. A little goes a long way and one jar lasts me about 4-5 months, with ever day usage.

Powder -Laura Mercier - Mineral Powder SPF 15
Starlyte 1/3/2013 3:58:00 PM
I know a lot of people love this but sadly it made me break out. It gave me that weird itchy feeling that some mineral makeup give and then I started noticing little bumps. I tried it 3 different times before giving up on it working for me. Otherwise it's a pretty decent mineral foundation. It's creamier and easier to blend than BE and looks very natural. The coverage is light to medium and I definitely still have to use concealer with it.

Mascara -NYX - Doll Eye Mascara - Volume
Starlyte 1/3/2013 3:09:00 PM
Love this mascara. When I first got it I thought I got an old tube because the formula is quite dry. It takes getting used to but it's just the formula. I have straight, barely there lashes and this does a great job of providing curl, volume and length. The brush is not too big, a perfect size for my Asian, almond eyes. Again, the formula is dryer than I'm used to but it's pretty buildable. I swipe on about 4-5 coats and it really darkens and lengthens my lashes without clumping or weighing them down. No worries with smudges throughout the day either. Love it and would repurchase!

Mascara -Rimmel - Volume Accelerator Mascara
Starlyte 1/3/2013 3:03:00 PM
Love the brush for my Asian, almond eyes but the formula is horrible! It's a really "wet" formula, takes a while to dry, and will smudge and smear horribly if you get a tiny bit of water near your eyes. It weighs down my lashes and can get pretty clumpy. Washing it off at night is a nightmare. Would NOT buy again.

Lip Gloss -L'Oreal - Colour Caresse Shine Stain / Shine Caresse
Starlyte 1/2/2013 8:26:00 PM
Rite Aid was having a BOGO 50% off so I had to pick these up. They retail for about $10 or so, depending on where you get them. I got Rose On and On (a light, subtle pink that I adore and can definitely wear every day) and Pink Rebellion (a blue based, brighter pink). I love these and am thinking about running out and buying all the colors. These have a light alcohol scent that's not unpleasant but might bother those who are sensitive to fragrance. I would say that's the only downside. Otherwise they wear really well, feel light and natural on your lips... none of that sticky, drying film feeling that most long wearing lip products seem to have. These are called shine stains and amazing, they do stain the lips while retaining the glossiness! Most stains are flat or matte but I was pleasantly surprised to find that my lips still had the glossy look for several hours. These go on sheer but are definitely buildable. I swiped each about 3 times on my lips to get the color effect I wanted. The applicator is shaped different too and application was easy and precise. Would definitely buy again!

Tinted Moisturizer -Tarte - Amazonian Clay BB Tinted Mosturizer (Smooth Operator)
Starlyte 4/25/2011 7:19:00 PM
I'm pregnant and had to find products that are free of chemicals, parabens, and synthetic fragrances. I searched the cosmetics database website and came across this tinted moisturizer. I've been using it for 7 months and would highly highly recommend it. I have oily, sensitive, acne proned skin and this does not irritate it at all. It provides a light, dewy coverage and I constantly get compliments about my *pregnancy glow* although I suspect it's really due to this TM! I'm a MAC NC 30 and am using #10. It's pricey at $36 but there's a lot of product and I'm only halfway through the tube. It's also really convenient that it has spf 20 and is packed with vitamins and antioxidants. To compare to the popular Laura Mercier's tinted moisturizer, this has a lighter consistency and blends easier ( I just use my fingers). It evens out my skin pretty well though I still have to use concealer around the nose and on old acne scars. If you're looking for a thicker TM with more coverage then I would recommend LM. For fresh, natural, dewy skin, I would definitely go for the Smooth Operator. Because I have oily skin, I used to really like the matte look, but since using this TM I've been really liking that healthy, glowing skin look.

Crème -Cinema Secrets - Cinema Secrets
Starlyte 8/7/2010 10:39:00 PM
This is my HG foundation. Hello! Why did I just find out about this? This foundation is VERY versatile and provides sheer to medium to full coverage. I also use it as concealer for under eyes and blemishes. Experiment with different ways of applying it (foundation brush vs. a dry sponge vs. a damp sponge) until you get the coverage you want. I have sensitive, combo acne proned skin and have experienced no breakouts or irritation. Score! I'm around NC35 and #304-32 matches me pretty well. When I first saw this creme foundation in the little pot I was sure it would be too heavy for my oily skin. But the texture is amazing...a light creme that blends almost like a gel. A little goes a very long way so if you use too much product then yes it could look heavy and cakey. So use a small amount and blend with a slightly damp sponge and you'll get fresh, dewy skin that looks very healthy & natural. I use it over primer and it lasts all day. $22 for a pot that lasts forever....love this stuff!

Skincare - Face -Phisoderm - anti-blemish gel facial wash
Starlyte 2/15/2010 1:40:00 AM
I've been using this cleanser for years and absolutely love it. Every time I switch to a new cleanser my skin breaks out and I notice more blackheads. It's cheap, contains 2% salicylic acid, washes makeup off amazingly well, doesn't have a strong artificial scent, and really helps in keeping my skin calm and clear. I've tried other salicylic gel cleansers that cost 5x more and this one beats them all! I have combo skin and it can be a bit drying, especially during the winter months. Other than that, this is my HG! It's such a wonderful cleanser for sensitive, acne proned skin like mine.

Moisturizers -Clinique - Superdefense SPF 25 Age Defense-Combo Oily to Oily
Starlyte 2/11/2010 6:23:00 PM
I'm really loving this as my daytime moisturizer. I have acne proned, oily skin and this provides light hydration, sun protection, and doesn't break me out. The consistency is a nice, light lotion (almost like whipped creme) and sinks in really quick. It doesn't leave my face looking shiny or greasy nor does it have that gross white finish a lot of sunblock products leave. This is not that moisturizing though and wouldn't work well during the winter months. But as a basic daytime moisturizer for oily skin, I'd definitely recommend it!

Primer/ Corrector -MAC - Prep + Prime Face Protect SPF 50
Starlyte 2/11/2010 6:11:00 PM
I love this product! I have combo skin (oily T-zone and somewhat dry cheeks) and everything breaks me out. This does a splendid job of keeping my face matte all day and my makeup looking fresh. I do notice that when I use it after a moisturizer it doesn't work as well and I get slightly oily. So, I normally skip my moisturizer in the morning. It's a thick lotion consistency but absorbs really quick. Mattifying, has spf 50, and does NOT break me out (major plus). My only complaint is that it's $30 for 1 floz and the packaging is not that great.

Lips -Everyday Minerals - Siesta (Formerly Peach)
Starlyte 6/6/2008 7:54:00 PM
I'm a huge fan of EM products but this was such a disappointment! It's really cheaply made, goes on like a runny paste and just sits on top of your lips. I used it 2x before the product started to crack and melt. I love nude lip colors but this color was too pale and looked a bit ridiculous.

Eye Primer -Urban Decay - Eyeshadow Primer Potion - Original (UDPP)
Starlyte 5/30/2007 7:55:00 PM
This is the absolute best eye primer! The texture is so light and unassuming so you wouldn't think that it'd do the job but boy does it ever. I've always had very oily lids so by noon my eye makeup gets runny and looks plain gross. Well, since I've started using the UD I no longer have this problem! It's amazing! Just a quick swipe of this product in the morning and my eye lids stay matte and fresh ALL DAY. Yes, all day. This is amazing stuff, is relatively cheap, and is so simple to use.... I highly recommend it!

Mascara -Lancome - Hypnose
Starlyte 3/6/2007 1:22:00 PM
Really love this mascara! I have thin, sparse lashes and this mascara does a wonderful job of defining each one, giving my lashes volume AND length! A few coats will stretch my lashes to lengths beyond anything any other mascara has done and the best part is it doesn't clump or harden. I love how full and long my lashes look without looking overdone and spidery.
HOWEVER, throughout the day I do have a problem with it smudging and smearing under my eyes. Not too much, but still, it gives me the smudged-mascara look. Boo. This is a wonderful find for anybody who doesn't have oily eyelids like mine, but for myself, I wouldn't buy it again.

Cleansers -Dermalogica - PreCleanse
Starlyte 3/1/2007 11:37:00 AM
Great great great product! At first I was hesitant to try this because I have oily, acne proned skin and this product seemed too oily and heavy. I'm so glad I gave it a try though because it does a beautiful job of washing away makeup withought making me break out and is especially tough on waterproof mascara without stinging my eyes. The dirt and makeup just melts from your face and, though it is oil based, it interacts with water very well and completely dissolves to leave you skin feeling soft and clean. Did I already mention how great it is at washing away mascara? Incredible!

Scrubs -Dermalogica - Daily Microfoliant
Starlyte 3/1/2007 11:28:00 AM
Though I like this exfoliant I'm not 100% sure that I would buy it again. It's gentle enough to be used daily and I like that you can't overdo it w/ this product and srub your skin raw. This is very similar to the rice powder exfoliants out there; starts off with a good, gentle exfoliating texture but then quickly dissolves into a paste (you get about about 4-5 seconds of good scrubbing) . Overall, this is a pretty good product and I've yet to find another scrub that I can use daily (big plus!), doesn't make me break out, and isn't too harsh for my skin.
The downsides are that it doesn't do a good job of taking off makeup, leaves my skin dry and tight, and isn't great at getting rid of blackheads and such.
Overall, I liked this product and would recommend others to try it.
