Loose Powders -Palladio - Rice Powder
rated 5 of 5
StarLuXe 7/14/2011 10:25:00 PM

Bought this stuff on sale along with my wet/dry foundation in translucent. I trashed the puff it came with and just used my own brush, which works fine. I keep the little sticker on (clear one that covers the holes on the sifter) and that helps with the messiness of the powder getting everywhere. There is a slight baby powder-like scent, but literally after the first couple applications I stopped noticing it. Definitely not an offensive enough smell not to purchase. Powder goes great over my wet/dry foundation and does not break me out (woo hoo). A really simple, no frills product. Love it.

Lotions/ Creams -Eucerin - Aquaphor Healing Ointment
rated 5 of 5

I work at a preschool, and some of the parent's bring this for their babies to use as diaper ointment. I never thought anything of it, and hadn't even heard of this stuff. But a little light bulb went off in my head and I thought well if it helps their dry skin, it'll help mine! lol. I bought a tube at walmart and I am now ADDICTED to this!! I use it on my lips, elbows, ankles, heels, cuticles...this stuff is a miracle product - no joke. I use it under my lipsticks/glosses and even when I work with loose glitter on my eyes, I use this as the adhesive. And the great part is a little goes a long way, and I am on my first tube still and can't remember when I bought it, but it was awhile ago. Price is fine, since it lasts so freakin long. And lastly, sometimes I accidentally lick my lips and forget I have stuff on, and the great part about aquaphor is it has absolutely no taste. Unlike traditional chapsticks that leave a gross taste in my mouth. Enjoy :)

Treatments -Joico - k-pak deep penetrating reconstructor
rated 5 of 5
StarLuXe 7/13/2011 1:57:00 AM

I have processed platinum blonde hair that's been through the ringer and it had started to show bad signs of damage, and it seemed like everything I tried didn't make it feel or look any less dry...talk about a bummer! Anyways, a friend's cousin, who owns her own salon, recommended this to me. I went to Ulta and purchased the 5 dollar travel-sized version just in case I didn't like it. I washed my hair, ringed out the water and put this on, wrapped my hair in a bun and blasted the blow dryer on it for about a minute. Wrapped my head in a scarf and went about doing other things. 30 mins later I washed this stuff out and WOW, even as I was washing it out (with cold water) my hair felt different. Put on a deep conditioner and finished up. Usually when I blow dry my hair, I look like I stuck my finger in an electrical socket...but not this time. My hair had almost no frizz and it was straighter than usual, not to mention super soft. I use this when I wash my hair, which is once a week. Let me say this, it has changed my hair. This is another staple added to my beauty routine. Def. worth every penny. Your hair CAN get a little dingy, but nothing dry shampoo can't fix ;)

Moisturizers -Olay - Complete Defense Daily UV Moisturizer SPF 30 - Sensitive Skin
rated 2 of 5
StarLuXe 7/11/2011 12:57:00 AM

I was in desperate need of a moisturizer. My face had all of a sudden gone nuts and was dry and oily. I don't use moisturizer since my face is so freaking oily to begin with and we are in the middle of the worst summer I can remember. Anyways, I decided to try this. I was attracted to it because it had SPF and was for sensitive skin, and also wouldn't make me oilier supposedly. WRONG! Although I felt this combated the redness around my nose and I didn't break out, midday my pores looked gigantic and my face looked like an oil slick. It was disgusting. I tried the product for a week and gave up :( still looking for a nicely priced moisturizer.

Styling Products -Organix - Renewing Moroccan Argan Penetrating Oil
rated 5 of 5
StarLuXe 7/11/2011 12:52:00 AM

I needed a new frizz tamer and an oil that protected from heat styling. With this new craze I decided to try this stuff out. It comes in a pretty aqua bottle, and they sell it at walmart (@ a cheaper price than ulta). I towel tried my hair and put this stuff on - smells amazing!! I blow dried my hair, wrapped it in a bun and put a scarf on. A couple hours later I took my hair down, added some more oil to my dried ends and straightened. My hair looked and felt sooo good. And that is saying something, because I have damaged, platinum blonde hair. I will repurchase for sure :)

Powder -Palladio - Wet/Dry foundation
rated 5 of 5
StarLuXe 7/10/2011 2:46:00 AM

I had been looking for a new foundation to wear during this wonderful Texas summer, since my Revlon Colorstay would literally slime off my face during the day (so gross) and my face was oily/dry at the same time and honestly I was frustrated. I couldn't find anything that would work with my skin, which is extremely sensitive, acne-prone complete with cystic acne :( I saw Ulta had all Palladio products on sale (buy 1 get 1 free) and I of course came to MUA and looked up the reviews for their products. I've never worked with wet/dry foundation, but I thought for under 10 bucks I think I could handle it. I bought Laurel Nude and it does have pink undertones which honestly isn't that noticeable. I ran the sponge under the faucet and kinda shook off the excess water and started applying. This stuff goes on smooth and stays on. I barely have to use concealer, because it already conceals so well. I ended switching to Cypress Beige, LN was too light and when I put bronzer over it I looked like an oompa loompa. All in all, I compare this to MAC, because of the price I definitely prefer this over MAC. And Palladio is ALWAYS on sale at Ulta and Sallys. For reference: I use Claudia Stevens Primer (also from sally) and it makes this stuff look EVEN better, and I put Palladio's rice powder over it. Wonderful product, healthy ingredients and my face isn't breaking out anymore and the oiliness/dryness is now balanced out. LOVE IT! :)

Eye Shadow -Unlisted Brand - Hot Topic - Baked Eyeshadows
rated 5 of 5
StarLuXe 5/15/2011 2:26:00 AM

I bought three of these shadows on a whim, and I can't remember their exact names but it was aqua, hot pink and lime green. These are uh-mazing! I wet my eyeshadow brush and apply, and I make sure I go over it a few times for added intensity. I get lots of compliments when I wear the lime green, they do fade a little throughout the day but it takes two seconds to reapply so no biggie there. Packaging is cute, black with a little skull on the top and you get a fair amount of product as well. It makes me a little sad though, the Hot Topic by me hasn't had these shadows in a long time so I wonder what happened?? Hope they re-stock soon, I haven't seen any since November :(

Shampoo -Batiste - Dry Shampoo
rated 5 of 5
StarLuXe 5/15/2011 2:16:00 AM

Well, since I bleach my hair white I definitely cannot wash my hair every day! The lady at Sally's recommended this. I got the regular smelling one at first and although it worked great the smell was a little gross so I switched to the blush - which smells really nice. I have used high-end dry shampoos as well as cheap-o ones and NONE of them compare to Batiste. Some people are put-off because it turns your hair a white-ish color, but don't freak out, just tousle your hair and it blends in. I usually wash my hair once a week and this stuff makes my hair look fresh the entire week and gives it body. It is def a staple in my beauty routine. Buy it, you won't regret it!

Self Tanners -Hawaiian Tropic - Island Radiance Self Tanner
rated 2 of 5
StarLuXe 5/15/2011 2:03:00 AM

I decided to give this a try after becoming disenchanted with l'oreal sublime bronze. First off, the dispenser is bi-polar...you can't control how much comes out and most of the time it explodes everywhere. The smell is disgusting, (and I am not sensitive to smells) it smells like buttered popcorn or something strange. I put my self-tanners on at night and take a shower in the morning...leaving this stuff on was an act of god because it reeked. Lastly, I got the medium-dark (the darkest shade) and I could barely notice a difference the next morning...I am guessing you have to build-a-tan with this stuff. However, the thing I liked about this is - no streaks and it looked real (no orange)!! Bottom Line: I won't buy again, and I am still on the hunt for "The Perfect Self - Tanner."

Lipstick -Revlon - Superlustrous Lipstick Fuchsia Fusion
rated 5 of 5
StarLuXe 4/29/2011 2:12:00 AM

This review is for the **Revlon Colorburst** line, and the fuchsia is matte. It is absolutely gorgeous and I get a ton of compliments whenever I wear it. It lasts forever!! This is the lipstick I go to when I'm having a crappy day - it makes me feel so much better :) Anyways, I saw how other reviewers say they wish it was a matte...well, this one is and it's perfect. The packaging is a bit different, there is no gold, the tube is all black and has a sort of diamond pattern is etched into it.

Lipstick -NYX - Harmonica
rated 4 of 5
StarLuXe 4/29/2011 2:02:00 AM

This lipstick in my mind, should be called Barbie Doll. I love this lipstick and looks awesome with smokey eyes. The formula is nice and creamy and stays on pretty well. I tan during the summer and it looks good on bronzed skin...just make sure you don't cake it on so you don't look like that old lady from "There's Something About Mary" ;)

Concealers -Essence - Forget it! 3in1 concealer
rated 5 of 5
StarLuXe 4/29/2011 1:58:00 AM

I absolutely LOVE this concealer!! I use all three of the colors, and they work beautifully with my skin. If you are scared to use the beige (thinking it will be too dark) just put your foundation over it. Covers it and your imperfections right up. The only thing that is a downfall, is how little product you get. But for under 3 bucks...um, I think I can live with that :) Also, one of the sales people told me at Ulta that Essence is starting to pull their makeup from their (Ulta) stores, so you might want to stock up just in case.

Fragrances -Victoria's Secret - Pink with a Splash FRESH & CLEAN
rated 4 of 5
StarLuXe 3/21/2011 2:25:00 AM

My friend had this in her purse and I decided to spritz some on and I LOVED it! I went to vickies and bought me a bottle. I am terrible at identifying what a perfume/body spray is made up of, but to me, this doesn't remind me of being "fresh and clean." It is a headier scent and is a lot different than the more feminine smelling perfumes (if that makes any sense). Nonetheless, it is different and smells so good. It lasts a long time for a body spray, and I've found that if I spray it right after I get out of the shower it sticks even better. Loves it, and I will be repurchasing :)

Loose Powders -Ben Nye - Neutral Set translucent powder
rated 5 of 5
StarLuXe 2/16/2011 12:54:00 AM

A friend who is a makeup artist told me to use this, and said it was wonderful. She was right! I bought this at a costume supply store for super cheap. I, myself, didn't like the packaging too much so I used someone else's idea and bought some cheap-o powder, dumped it out, washed out the tub and filled it with this powder. Talk about perfect! The powder is so smooth and silky and goes on great. It is many hours before my skin starts to get shiny (which is a miracle since my face is a greasy mess) and when it does, I just fluff on a little bit of this and no more oil. Luckily this didn't break me out as well, considering I have uber-sensitive skin. Bottom line: perfect for any budget and virtually any skin type :) **Update** I ran out of my dry shampoo and my hair was looking pretty bad, I put this on my roots....and no more oil, I use it as my dry shampoo now. LOL, love love love this stuff!

Scrubs -Alba Botanica - Hawaiian Sea Salt Body Scrub
rated 1 of 5
StarLuXe 2/16/2011 12:42:00 AM

I have heard good things about alba so I decided to pick up this to use as an exfoliator (I ran out of my clinique sparkle skin) before I put on my self-tanner. Let me just say, first off the smell is way too powerful. It has a citrus-y chemical smell to it and literally made my whole apartment reek. I also had a tiny cut on my finger and some of this got into the cut...sent me through the roof it stung so bad :( . I washed it off and started to shave, and I realized the oil the scrub left behind was so thick, it had clogged my razor and it wouldn't even work anymore! So, needless to say I have a gigantor tub of some stinky, oily stuff that has only been used twice. Which is too bad, I hate getting rid of products that have barely been used.
