Conditioner -Redken - Smooth Down
Stacy 7/3/2005 10:50:00 AM
I was a little reluctant to try Smooth Down Shampoo and Conditioner because my hair is fine and tends to get weighed down and all the oils in it sounded like bad news. After all the raves, I bought sample sizes from Ulta and quickly purchased the full sizes of both. My hair is fine but abundant, and I flat iron several times a week so it can get dry and frizzy. This smooths it out and makes it feel so soft. It seems to make it straighten a lot more easily too. I haven't had any problems with it weighing my hair down, not even at the roots, and I do use a clarifying shampoo once a week or so. I've used the same shampoo/conditioner combo for years now (Back to Basics Sunflower) and have called it my holy grail in the past but this is my product of choice now.
I have to say that I use both the shampoo and conditioner together so this review is about both. I've used the shampoo with a different conditioner but have never use the conditioner without the shampoo (I always run out of conditioner first).

I have to say that I use both the shampoo and conditioner together. I've used the shampoo alone with another conditioner, and it doesn't do much for my hair. The shampoo and conditioner together are great!

Blush -Laura Mercier - Wild Bouquet
Stacy 5/30/2005 11:30:00 AM
I recently received this blush in a swap and am in love! It replaces Stila Hint as my everyday, neutral pink blush. I was a bit disappointed to opened the compact and see that it looked like a blah pinky brown shade, too brown for me. On my cheeks however, it is a perfect neutral pink that goes with just about every color I've put it with. It looks so natural. I can barely tell I'm wearing blush but yet it brightens my face. It is sheer but I prefer that in a blush. It just takes a couple of swipes across my cheeks for perfect color.

Liquid -Lola Cosmetics - Oil Free Sheer Foundation
Stacy 5/30/2005 11:14:00 AM
I bought the $4 sample bottle at Ulta to try out (I wish more companies would do this!). I wasn't sure what to expect after reading the reviews on here but I'm very impressed. I picked up the color Nude which is okay, a bit light for my MAC C3, LM Vanilla Beige, Chanel Shell skin. I may try a shade darker. The foundation blends easily for light-medium coverage that makes my skin look flawless. I have oily skin that gets shiny quickly, and I've found that I don't have to blot often when I wear this. I'm very acne prone, and I haven't had any breakouts. The $4 sample has lasted quite awhile, and it would be perfect to take along on vacation in place of a full sized bottle. I doubt this will replace my beloved Laura Mercier Oil Free but since I have to order LM and this is available in town, I'm sure I'll purchase again.

Eyeliner -Laura Mercier - Tightline Cake Eye Liner in Bleu Marine
Stacy 1/22/2005 12:54:00 PM
I've had several LM makeovers, and the MA's almost always use Bleu Marine Cake Liner on my blue eyes. I've just never purchased it. I finally did, and I now wear it all the time. It's a very dark navy blue that looks almost black, without being harsh against my light coloring. The blue shade makes my eyes pop like few other eyeliners have. To top it off, Cake Liner is super easy to apply (I use LM's eyeliner brush) and lasts all day long. I will definitely repurchase it, although I'm sure the pot I have will last a really long time.

Lip Gloss -Laura Mercier - Peach Chiffon Riche Color Lip Glace
Stacy 1/22/2005 12:46:00 PM
A MA used this on my lips at a LM event in November, and I purchased it then. At first, I regretted buying it but it's ended up becoming one I wear often. In the tube, it is a shimmery pinky peach but it's a frosty peach on my lips. My lips don't have much pigment in them, and frosty lip colors alone wash me out badly, and this is no exception. But I realized how pretty it is worn over something else, even just LM Chestnut lipliner. It adds a bit of a warm peachy sparkle to my lipcolor. It's going to be great for summer. I haven't seen the new Nars Orgasm gloss in person yet but this is how I picture it looking since this color in the tube reminds me a little of Orgasm blush.
The texture of this new gloss reminds me of LM's regular glosses, perhaps a little thicker. It's not sticky, and the lasting power is pretty good, for a gloss. I detect a tiny bit of a scent/taste but nothing bad at all.

Gels/Soaps -Philosophy - Old Fashioned Eggnog 3 in 1
Stacy 10/27/2004 9:05:00 PM
I wholeheartedly agree with the other reviews for Philosophy Egg Nog. The scent is great, a rich, creamy egg nog, very true to the drink. Cinnamon Buns has long been my favorite Philosophy 3 in 1 scent but this one tops it. The bottle is really cute, and the 3 in 1's are easily my favorite shower gels. I highly recommend this!

Cleansers -Clinique - Rinse-off foaming cleanser
Stacy 7/26/2004 7:31:00 PM
When visiting my parents recently, I left my cleanser at home. I used my Mom's tube of this. Within a couple of days, my face was terribly broken out. I'm pretty sure it was this cleanser because I didn't use anything else new on my face at the time. I liked how it foamed and left my skin feeling clean but it caused a major breakout for my oily, acne prone skin.

Lip Treatments -Tarte - Slide Tin Lip Balm
Stacy 7/13/2004 10:25:00 AM
I just had to have this because of the cute slide tin packaging. The packaging is just adorable! There are 4 available colors. I got Lip Tease which is a pinky coral with a nice watermelon taste/scent. The lip balm itself is really nice. It's thick and moisturizing without being sticky. The coral shade gives me a nice amount of sheer color, perfect for summer. My only complaint is having to use my fingers or a lip brush to apply but even so, I have found myself using this a lot this summer.

Gels/Soaps -Philosophy - Senorita Margarita 3-in-1
Stacy 7/6/2004 1:38:00 PM
If you love the scent of margaritas, I think you will love this. The fragrance is very authentic, a tangy limey scent. You can even smell the tequila and salt. It's so light and refreshing, perfect for summer. It's definitely my favorite 3 in 1 for the summer.
I love this shower gel too. It's thick and creamy, and you only need the tiniest amount for lots of lather. These just don't work on my hair and don't seem to work for many people on the hair

Lipstick -MAC - Frolick lipstick
Stacy 2/22/2004 3:54:00 PM
Frolick is a light frosty pinky beige on me. It's a little too light for my coloring and I don't look great in beigey shades, but it does work if I wear it with a lipliner like LM Chestnut. I did end up swapping it though because I've found that I rarely wear lipsticks that I have to layer with something else to make it look good on me, unless it's something really stunning.

Lipstick -MAC - Lipstick in Fluid
Stacy 2/22/2004 3:52:00 PM
Fluid is an unusual lipstick for me. It's a metallic plum that sometimes looks great but sometimes looks way too harsh with my blonde hair/blue eyed coloring. It really depends on what clothes I have on and the rest of my makeup. I like the color and think this would probably be gorgeous on someone with darker coloring. I doubt I would repurchase because I don't wear it that frequently!

Lipstick -MAC - Lustre in Hug Me
Stacy 2/22/2004 3:48:00 PM
I love the texture of the Lustre lipsticks but Hug Me looked like a bland peachy nude on my lips that washed me out. I was hoping it would be a great sheer lips but better shade but it didn't work at all.

Lipstick -MAC - Satin Lipstick in Twig
Stacy 2/22/2004 3:41:00 PM
I purchased Twig because of so many raves about it being one of MAC's YLBB shades. While it is a pinky brown and a type of shade that usually looks good on me (blonde hair, blue eyes), something about Twig was off. It just looked flat and dull. Clinique Blushing Nude and Nars Dolce Vita are much better lips but better shades for me. I also found it very drying, a problem I have with several of MAC's lipsticks.

Gels/Soaps -L'Occitane - Milk bar soap
Stacy 2/13/2004 3:48:00 PM
I received this soap as part of a Christmas package from a MUA-er (waves to Jen!), and I fell in love as soon as I ripped the wrapper off. I love the Milk scent. It's light, a hint sweet, and clean. I love how this soap lathers up and leaves my skin soft. I have the big bar, and it has lasted in my shower really, really well. This will be a definite repurchase for me!
