Primer/ Corrector -Giorgio Armani - Master Corrector
rated 5 of 5
Spiderwort 6/5/2013 10:48:00 PM

after reading the few reviews on this, I finally went to purchase this. I am a student with hereditary under eye circles. I get a decent amount of coverage with a concealer but we can still see a bit of darkness passing through in the afternoon. I purchased this in Holt Renfrew (I live in Canada) and it retails around 43$. I bought the orange colored one. It looks really expensive in this small tube but you only use a little bit everytime and it'll last you for a long time. So it's worth it. It gives great correction. I have asian yellow undertone and brown-purple-ish dark circles. On good days, one coat of this is enough. On bad days (exam periods), two coat of this and a coat of concealer covers my dark circles and make me look as if I slept a good 10 hours of sleep (when I probably had about half of that). It stays on the whole day. And the best thing is : IT DOES NOT CREASE into my lines. I have these weird wrinkles/folds under my eyes (and i'm only 22) and it's super hard to find something that doesn't crease. (if any of you were wondering, the concealer i'm using is the Diorskin Sculpt lifting smoothing concealer: a great concealer that doesn't settle in wrinkles (if you don't use too much)). Also, this corrector is thin and liquidy and it stays flat under your concealer and does cake up. I absolutely recommend Giorgio Armani Master Corrector to anyone with dark circles that need an extra push with their concealor.

Blush -Shiseido - Luminizing Satin Face Color - RD103 Petal
rated 5 of 5
Spiderwort 9/2/2012 1:21:00 AM

I bought this product a while ago and i'm now hitting pan. I've used this blush everyday, summer and winter. This blush gives me a healthy rosy glow on my cheeks when i'm paler during winter time and when i'm more tanned during summer. I absolutely love it! The powder is fine milled and goes on with a satiny finish. It stays all day long. It is a beautiful peachy coraly color that complement every skin tone (I have asian skin tone). It comes in a classy compact with a mirror inside and a super soft brush for blush application (though i use my blush brush out of habit, it's nice to have it there when i'm on vacation). I absolutely recommend it to everyone. It might be a bit pricey but it's definitely worth every penny and it last you a long long time! I think i've found my HG blush! Highly recommend!

Masks -Yves Rocher - Bio Specific Rehydration- SOS Intensive Moisture Mask
rated 5 of 5
Spiderwort 8/27/2012 12:16:00 AM

I really like this mask. I use it when my skin feels really tight and not on a regular basis. I don't use a lot, just on the areas where it feels dry (and for me that's around my chin). I sometimes leave it over night and it doesn't break me out there. It works great and it smells really nice and refreshing. It comes out in a squeezable tube so it's pretty hygienic. It gives me the moisture that my dehydrated skin need. And the price is great too. Strongly recommend. (P.S. I have pretty normal-oily combination skin. so i'm not sure how this will work out on sensitive skin)

Lip Treatments -Jurlique - Rose Love Balm
rated 4 of 5
Spiderwort 8/25/2012 8:48:00 PM

I got this at a sephora counter. It's not the rose one. Just a plain Jurilique Love Balm. I was looking for a cream that i can put on anywhere (hands, cuticles to the dry patches on my face) and that's portable. The sales person recommended this to me. It cost me 10$. It comes in a little metal container, pretty cute though not really hygenic in the long run. I really like it. you really don't need a lot or it'll just make you greasy and oily. It goes on slightly greasy and it takes a while to be absorbed before the oiliness disappears. The smell is pretty unique. It took me some time before getting used to it. But now I really like the smell, it's pretty refreshing. I've used this on my cracked heels during summer and it gives a good few hours of moisture and it made them look less cracked. I've used this on my face for dry patches and it made it much softer. I've tried this on my lips... it was okay, nothing spectacular (though i'd still prefer my lipbalm...) So give it a shot.

Mascara -FairyDrops - Scandal Queen Mascara
rated 4 of 5
Spiderwort 8/25/2012 8:40:00 PM

I got this at a sephora counter after hearing all the raves. Here's my thoughts: Note: i have short straight asian lashes... PRO: - long lasting - doesn't flake - doesn't transfer to my oily lids (even without primer or powder) and doesn't make me a racoon - it's easy to take off. Just use hot water - it's lenghtening CON: - it is pretty pricey - it doesn't hold up the curls as much (though it makes it look really natural) I would definitely recommend this. It's the only one that doesn't make me a racoon after few hours of wear (and i've tried my share of waterproof and water resistant mascaras).

Cleansers -Clarins - Gentle Foaming Cleanser With Tamarind for Combination or Oily Skin
rated 5 of 5
Spiderwort 8/25/2012 8:34:00 PM

I'm on my third tube already. I absolutely love this cleanser. it gently cleanse my face and wash off the little makeup I wear on a daily basis. It leaves my skin feeling supple and clean. It doesn't leave a film on my face. There a little beads to gently exfoliate on a daily basis (though there aren't a lot of them). It's a bit pricey though you don't need a lot and it lasted me a good while. I love it how it foams up! It didn't leave my face feeling tight or dry or make my face oilier than usual. Definitely recommend to try it out!

Cleansers -B. Kamins - Vegetable skin cleanser
rated 2 of 5
Spiderwort 8/25/2012 8:29:00 PM

I bought this to try it out. It's meant for sensitive skin. PRO : it did get my skin really clean and even washed off my eyeliner and mascara. it didn't feel like it left a residu or a film after washing. it didn't really have much smell to it... strangely reminds me of a simple neutrogena facewash... CONS: It's pricey! for this, i could've get something better. It didn't foam up like I would've want it to be. IT LEFT MY SKIN SO TIGHT AND DRY AFTER USING THIS! Which made my face slightly oilier with 2 pimples... =( it completely unbalanced my skin... =( VERDICT : not worth the price. not worth trying. UPDATE : I now use it as a makeup remover. It removes my makeup so well. At least I've found a way to use this pretty expensive product so it won't go to waste... Still pretty disappointed on how it dries my skin if i use it everyday. =S

Scrubs -St. Ives - Invigorating Apricot Scrub
rated 2 of 5
Spiderwort 8/25/2012 8:21:00 PM

I bought the big jar this when it on sale. I've used it twice, once a week. My skin is used to be exfoliated once a week. The texture of this scrub is a lot grainier than I thought. The scrubbing beads are quite big. After scrubbing, it left my face red on areas I passed more time (my chin). It did make my skin soft and smooth. But I've stopped using this because, strangely, it broke me out... =( *sigh* so much for wanting integrating this scrub into my skincare routine. I guess i'll use the rest of the product on my foot or something...

Eyeliner -Urban Decay - 24/7 Glide-On Eyepencil in Eldorado
rated 5 of 5
Spiderwort 8/15/2011 9:20:00 PM

This is the first time I tried the oh-so-raved urban decay 24/7 glide-on eyeliner. I must say that I am amazed by the creamy texture and the staying power. It is easy to apply and I was already blown away when I did the rub test at Sephora before my purchase. Eldorado is a beautiful gold color that is great to put on your lower water lines to give your eyes an extra pop of color and makes you look more awake and more summery looking (if that makes any sense since this summer, I fell in love with the golden bronzed look). As past experience, any eyeliner I've put on my lower water lines in the morning end up disappearing or smeared somewhere... but this does not. It stayed all day (at least a good 16 hours)!! I absolutely love it! As for its price, it is on the pricier side... but it is definitely worth it!! Definitely should give it a try! =)

Foundations -Unlisted Brand - Legere- bb creme white
rated 5 of 5
Spiderwort 7/16/2011 1:34:00 AM

This is actually the first BB cream I've ever tried and I have to admit that I ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT!! (and I'm on my fourth bottle prouves how much I love it). I find that it gives me medium coverage. It smells really nice. It says that it has sun protection... though I still wear my sunscreen underneath it (just so I get enough of sun protection). I haven't tried out any mac foundation so I wouldn't know what color I am... but I have a slightly tanned asian skin tone. The funny thing with this particular BB cream is that it comes in only one color and it comes out really dark... but as soon as you blend, it becomes lighter and lighter... When I blend it out, it usually is a bit lighter on my face... though after a few minutes, it adjusts itself to my skin color (absolutely fascinating). It doesn't have a grey cast, like a lot of BB creams in the market. It gives a brightening effet on your skin. In the summer, I use very little product because if I use a lot, it will be slighter lighter than my own tanned skin tone. I use a little because it's not enough to make my face lighter than my actual skin color yet I still get the amazing effect on my pores. It does wonders on pores!! It has pretty good oil control. This hasn't broken me out at all and I've been using this for at least 2 years now. Definitely recommend to everyone to try and definitely going to repurchase! The only downside is that you have to purchase it online. And it tends to disappear at the end of the day... but that's probably because I don't put powder to set it... (my bad)

Treatments (Eye) -Kiehls - Eye Alert
rated 2 of 5
Spiderwort 6/24/2011 12:54:00 AM

When I went to Kiehl's, I got a sample of this eye cream to test it out because I am on the look out for an eye cream that will not erase (because that's like kind of impossible) but diminish my dark circles and my puffiness on those days I pulled an all-nighter or didn't get a good night sleep. And that's what happened to me today... I woke up with puffy bags under my eyes and dark circles... which I always have anyways. I really want to be part of those people that this eye cream worked like a miracle ... but it didn't do much for me. My eye bags were still there. My dark circles stayed the same way. I did like the texture of this eye cream. It's a very smooth gel texture. There's no scent to this. It's a nice eye cream... but a little expensive if it doesn't do anything else than moisturizing... So, you can give it a try, go and get a free sample and see if it works for you... but I didn't do much for me, sadly.

Treatments (Eye) -Kiehls - Creamy Eye Treatment with Avocado
rated 4 of 5
Spiderwort 6/19/2011 10:06:00 PM

I was skeptical at first when it comes to this product since i read all the lowest rated reviews on makeupalley and got kind of scared to even try this out. But I went to the store and got a sample and I am so glad that I did because I really liked this eye cream. This eye cream is not very perfumy, which I liked. It had a very peculiar smell which is hard to describe... but it didn't bother me and it is not over powering. It also had a very strange texture. If you rub it in, it will turn into a watery texture. However, if you pat it onto your eye area, it stays a very creamy texture that seals in the moisture. You really don't need a lot. What I do is that I take a little bit between my middle and ring finger. I rub it between both fingers to warm it up and then I pad it onto my eye area. I usually do this twice so I think I get a good amount to ensure the moisture of my eye area. I only use it every night and I finished the sample in about 2 weeks. It didn't irritate my eyes at all and it didn't move around my face either. I didn't get those annoying little white bumps either, which I'm grateful. The full size jar cost 35$ + tax CAD. But I'm sure you can use it for a very long time. I definitely recommend to get a sample and give it a try.

Lotions/ Creams -Kiehls - Ultimate Strength Hand Salve
rated 1 of 5
Spiderwort 6/19/2011 3:25:00 PM

I got a sample hearing all the good reviews here. I just can't stand the horrible smell... It smells really strong, like chinese traditional medicine. Even though it's a good hand cream, the smell is just too overpowering... worth a try to see if you like the smell or not but i only used the sample once and threw it out...

Lip Treatments -Nivea - Lip Care - Strawberry
rated 5 of 5
Spiderwort 6/9/2011 11:40:00 PM

This is my HG lipbalm that I looked so hard to find! I think I went through so many tubes already. It is super moisturizing with the right amount of color that makes you look like you have nice, fresh, plump, moisturized lips. It is a bit shiny but not as much as a lip gloss. This lipbalm comes in a bigger tube than normal stick form lipbalms. The only downside is that this can melt during summer time or if you had this in your jeans pocket and you did a lot of exercises. It won't actually come out of the tube but it will get your hands messy when you use it... Depiste this little detail, I strongly recommend this to try!! UPDATE : After using this for so many years and going through so many tubes, it's still my favorite lipbalm. It's moisturizing and adds a nice touch of color that's flattering when i'm tan during summer or when i'm paler during winter. Definitely recommend it!

Lip Treatments -Kiehls - Lip Balm #1
rated 1 of 5
Spiderwort 6/9/2011 11:35:00 PM

I went to kiehl's today and got a tube of lip balm since they are doing a promotion on it. I was curious about this product since I was wondering if this could top my HG lipbalm, which is the Nivea strawberry lipbalm. I must say i'm pretty disappoint it in this product. For me, they just fill the tube with vaseline and a bit of sunscreen... The packaging is okay. I would like if they had a slanted opening like some lipbalms or lip glosses but it was just a plain horizontal opening that hurts a bit when you use it to smooth the lipbalm on your lips... Don't waste your money on this... you can get a huge jar of vaseline for the same price and it'll be pretty much the same!
