Pressed Powders -L'Oreal - Bare Naturale Pressed Powder

I was cleaning out my makeup drawers and found this in the back somewhere. It was just a small purchase for something to carry around in my bag with me if I needed to touch up. I had completely forgotten about it after throwing it in with all my other junk. So, one day I decided to use this as a sort of setting powder for my colorstay; holy moly this stuff was amazing. It helped my foundation stay solid all day. The colorstay foundation would stay pretty well on it's own, but with this stuff, just wow. Then out of curiosity, I decided to just use it by itself. Another wow, my friends. This stuff evened out my skin tone beautifully and lasted through a hot summer day. I don't usually get many zits and stuff so I'm not sure if it would conceal those on it's own, but it covered some little scars of mine from previous pimples with no problem. It comes with a brush (which I lost.) I use elf's powder brush to apply this, which I think is a huge part of the amazing look and feel I have come to love with this product. Great drugstore buy right here!

Blush -E.L.F. - Contouring Blush & Bronzing Powder
rated 4 of 5
SockRocker 8/4/2011 5:09:00 AM

This is a great product. It was cheap, and the packaging is so nice for the price you pay. It can fit snugly in a makeup bag if needed. I love the blush. It is a perfect natural tone for my skin. It isn't too red, too pink, or too orange. Just a perfect peachy glow on my fair skin. The bronzer can be a little hard for me to work with sometimes. It feels a little too orange for me on occasion, or maybe it's just a little overwhelming on my pale skin. I'm not sure. But I use it anyway, being sure to just dab a little on my brush. Overall, this product is worth the buy!! Especially great for summer:)

Makeup Brushes -E.L.F. - Studio Powder Brush

I ADORE THIS BRUSH. I picked it up at Target to see what all the fuss was about. It's only a brush. A $3 brush. I doubted it would be as great as everyone was leading on. How wrong I was. This brush is extremely versatile. I can use this for my liquid foundation (Revlon Colorstay) and get a nice airbrushed finish if I do a sort of stipple and swirl motion. I use this to buff in my powder foundation (BareMinerals) and it looks amazing. I can use this bronzers and blushes and they blend wonderfully. HG brush right here. It's so cheap too! I think everyone should pick up one of these babies, you will not be disappointed!! PS. It hasn't happened to me, but I've heard quite a few people say the handle broke off. It's only $3! It's probably not made to last a lifetime. And it's not a huge spend to go replace it. Or you could just use it as a kabuki instead.

Deodorants -Unlisted Brand - Arm & Hammer Essentials Natural Deodorant
rated 4 of 5
SockRocker 8/4/2011 4:55:00 AM

I have sensitive skin and the main reason I switched to natural deodorant, aside from the fact that regular deodorant is truly terrible for your body, was because my underarms were getting red chemical burns from all the crap in regular deodorants. Not good. I tried quite a few; Tom's roller, the crystal rock one, a few others as well. None worked as well as this one. And after a few months of using this, the red burn marks that were left from the normal deodorants were gone. In the mornings I put this on after getting out of the shower. Around the beginning of the evening, 4 or 5, my underarms start to smell a little off. So I usually have to apply this twice a day. Not the most convenient thing ever, but it is a natural deodorant that works very well. It also lasts forever. I have been using the same stick for at least five or six months. The only downfall for natural deodorants for me, is the fact that I do sweat a lot under my arms. In the summers especially, my underarms feel disgustingly sweaty and I'm afraid to lift my arms. I am stuck wearing black a lot while using this deodorant because while it does stop the smell, it doesn't stop the sweat (no duh it's natural and doesn't contain antiperspirant.) I've been considering using Secrets clinical strength for sensitive skin, but I'm a bit frightened. I'll be sticking with this for awhile.

Powder -Bare Escentuals - Matte Foundation spf 15
rated 5 of 5
SockRocker 6/21/2011 5:00:00 AM

This powder foundation ( I am in the lightest shade ) is the only powder foundation I have found that can prevent the shininess in my tzone. My tzone gets incredibly oily, and this has worked wonders. It holds all day without me having to touch up, and I can double it up as a concealer which is always convenient. However, I think that this foundation works best if you pat the mineral veil on top with a facial sponge, or a kabuki brush instead of brushing it on. The only bad thing I have to say, is that it seems like I have to build up this foundation a lot more to get my desired coverage then I had to when I used just the original bare minerals foundation, and that sometimes all the building up gets a tad cakey. To prevent this, I will sometimes just apply the matte foundation on my tzone and then the original foundation wherever else it is needed. But I find that if I just am really patient with buffing it all in, I get great coverage and a natural finish.

Cleansers -Cetaphil - Gentle Skin Cleanser
rated 3 of 5
SockRocker 6/21/2011 4:51:00 AM

This is the first product I ever bought for face wash when I was in middle school. It served it's purpose well for the time that I used it. Then I switched to some Arbonne facial cleansers that did wonders for my skin. When I ran out, I switched back to this again only to find that it wasn't strong enough of a cleanser for my face anymore or something. I'm not sure what happened honestly. My skin broke out like crazy, so I switched to a simple Burts Bees face wash that I was hoping wouldn't irritate my sensitive skin. This cleanser is a good starter cleanser for both boys and girls though.

Fragrances -Unlisted Brand - Herve Leger
rated 5 of 5
SockRocker 6/21/2011 4:42:00 AM

This is my favorite perfume of all time. The scent lasts practically all day for me, and I get compliments on it all the time. It has a sweet vanilla, yet almost musky smell that is feminine and girly, but sexy and alluring all at the same time. Adore this.

Liquid -Revlon - ColorStay Makeup
rated 4 of 5
SockRocker 6/21/2011 4:36:00 AM

This is the only foundation I have ever used, but I have to say that I do love this stuff. While the lack of a pump is quite annoying, the product itself is wonderful with coverage. I am in the color Ivory and use the combo/oily. Some say it is hard to apply this foundation, but I have found the best way to apply it is with a damp facial sponge, blotting the color on and building up the coverage where needed. The dampness of the sponge helps make the foundation not dry so quickly and the blotting prevents obvious streaking. However, I feel the best way to use this foundation, is by mixing this with a penny sized amount of your daily moisturizer. I use Aveeno's Positively Radiant Moisturizer, and absolutely love the combination of the two. When I mix them, I can easily apply the foundation with my hands without it looking streaky, and it doesn't look cakey because the moisturizer thins the product out and prevents it from drying in places too quickly before you can blend them. I am a teenager and find that doing this is quick and easy for when I am on the go. I don't need to use concealer because the coverage this foundation provides is plenty, even when it is thinned out with my moisturizer. The moisturizer I use also helps to give a dewy look because it has brightening properties in it. This foundation lasts all day for me when I set it with a powder (I use BareEscentuals mineral veil...I swear by that stuff) This is the only foundation I trust.

Mascara -Maybelline - Volum' Express The Falsies
rated 4 of 5
SockRocker 6/21/2011 4:27:00 AM

This product gave my lashes the best length I have ever gotten with any mascara. It didn't exactly make my lashes look fuller, but didn't thin them either. It was a nice medium. I got many compliments on my lashes and questions on what mascara I was using. However, I will not be purchasing this mascara again. While I love how it lengthens my lashes, it always runs beneath my eyes, giving me raccoon eyes by the end of the day. No matter what I have done to prevent this (setting powder beneath my eyes, eye primer, etc,.) I always end up having them when using this mascara. It has never happened to me before with any other mascara, which is unfortunate because I do love the effect this product gives my lashes. But, I can't deal with the running of it beneath my eyes.

Moisturizers -Aveeno - Positively Radiant Daily Moisturizer spf15
rated 5 of 5
SockRocker 6/21/2011 4:20:00 AM

I actually really love this moisturizer. I was a little hesitant at first because I was afraid it would make my combination skin look a little more on the oily side due to the brighteners, but I am happy to say it just left my face with a nice dewy glow. My face actually did look more radiant, even with a primer and some light powder foundation on top of it, you could tell there was a positive difference. While I love this product as an everyday moisturizer, I found a reason to love this even more. When I wear foundation instead of powder, I mix one pump of this with my Revlon Colorstay foundation; it is the best thing ever. The brightening in the moisturizer gives my face a glow when I mix it with my foundation, and also helps to thin out the foundation to make it look less cakey. The combination of the two is absolutely amazing for me. That is the overall reason for me rating this as a 5, but it honestly is a good buy. In my opinion, it is worth the $15:)

Lip Treatments -Burt's Bees - Beeswax Lip Balm
rated 5 of 5
SockRocker 9/26/2010 2:16:00 AM

This stuff never fails to heal my lips if they are dry or ripped. I have a horrible habit of biting my bottom lip and tend to rip the skin on it apart. I just throw this on and my lips feel and look smooth, and if i put this on at night, my lips are back to normal in the morning! This stuff is a miracle worker haha. The tinted ones are great and so is the medicated lip balm. The medicated one is also great for chapped lips, while the original lip balm is fantastic to smooth out dry lips.

Concealers -Maybelline - Dream Mousse Concealer [DISCONTINUED]
rated 4 of 5
SockRocker 8/26/2010 8:58:00 PM

I think this product is okay. Not fantastic, not bad, just okay. I don't use it my blemishes because I find that when I go to put my regular face coverage on, it is very obvious where I put the concealer on. There is a yellowish tinge under my powder foundation. I don't really enjoy using this under my eyes, but right now it is the only concealer in my makeup drawer and I'm a believer in finishing one product before buying another one. This concealer settles in the creases under my eyes terribly and looks scaly. I almost feel I look more tired after putting this on then I did beforehand! I'm reading all these reviews on how wonderful it is on under eye circles but don't understand how?! I apply this with my fingers so maybe this could be the problem? I don't have drastic under eye darkness though, sooo yeah. I'm not sure, but I don't think I will be buying this product again. EDIT: I have found that if you mix under eye cream with this concealer, it helps with the cakiness! But it still sinks into the lines of my dark circles by the end of the day.
