Makeup Brushes -Real Techniques by Samantha Chapman - Expert Face Brush
rated 5 of 5

I have bought one for each of my teen daughters and told them to blend blend blend on the jawline. I don't ever want to see another visible foundation line again. It almost makes me want to go Joan Crawford wire hangers on them. I know they are sleepy in the morning but BLEND it in please! With that said it is an EXCELLENT brush. Everyone should own one. I bought them at ULTA with a coupon for $3.50 off of $10.

Liquid -The Body Shop - Moisture Foundation SPF 15
rated 4 of 5

I just bought my second bottle. I use it alone or with the cover girl 3 in 1 foundation (in my reviews). I love this foundation. It isn't heavy; it's rather lightweight. I thought I was getting old enough that I needed something a little bit heavier but I was wrong. Heavy is bad. Medium is good if you want to have a face that can breathe and you can hug someone and not leave evidence on their shirt. I dot this on and use the Real Techniques Expert Face Brush to blend. They also have a matte formula that probaby works nicely for people with oiler skin. If you get it on sale it will be about $12. The body shop rewards program combined with the buy 3 get 3 sales has saved me ALOT of money on products that I like and I know I will keep using like their body butters. I love to stock up on those and then you can give an extra away as a gift when you need one.

Mascara -Rimmel - Scandal Eyes
rated 2 of 5
Smurf72 4/16/2013 4:56:00 PM

The Rimmel scandaleyes in the big neon orange tube. First of all the very large tube seems even bigger than the CG tubes and they are big enough. The tube is big because it houses this really honkin big brush. My eyelashes were truly scared to see something that large coming in their direction. The mascara works ok as far as putting color on and some volume but the brush is just too big to be effective. When it comes to mascara in big plastic tubes; ie; rocketvolume, the CG lashblast line and rimmel scandaleyes. Covergirl wins the battle. Clumpcrusher is my fave.

Lip Gloss -Sephora - Ultra Shine Lip Gloss #9 Love me pink

I've been looking for lip glosses that look the same in the tube as they do on the lips. These SEPHORA glosses have a great color payoff. This one is a good summer color. It's a nice medium pink with blue shimmery undertones that make your teeth look white. I would think this color would look good with pale or tanned skin. She bought a very pale pink that made me think of Nicki Minaj's lip color which I happen to dislike. It's fine for younger generation as they can pull off many makeup looks that I just can't anymore. They had a really big selection and I want to try more.

Mascara -Cover Girl - Lash Blast Clump Crusher mascara
rated 5 of 5
Smurf72 3/6/2013 2:32:00 PM

I like this mascara. It's good for everyday use. Not a ton of volume but I don't want to go to my casual workplace all vampy looking like I'm going to be on stage or something. It lengthens a little bit and does work great on the bottom lashes with just one coat. Top lashes-two coats and I'm done. I don't get how people can put on 5 or 6 coasts of mascara. That just sounds too tedious for me. It is true that it doesn't clump and it's easy to remove. Just a good, everyday, natural look mascara.

BB Cream -Smashbox - Camera Ready BB Cream SPF 35
rated 3 of 5

This was $39 for a little tube. I wanted to like it but it oxidized and gave me an orange line at my jaw after it had been on a while. My 15 year old daughter uses it now and it looks great on her (all make up looks good on wrinkle free skin) but I noticed she didn't blend it good the other day and she had the orange line too. She thought she may have put too much on that day because it doesn't do that everytime. I just don't trust it though. I do however love the smashbox photo ready concealer and have re-bought it several times.

Eyeliner -Physicians Formula - Eye booster eyeliner + serum
rated 5 of 5

Ok, I never used liquid eyeliner before now. I always thought it was just too fussy to deal with and that I would definately mess up and have crooked lines across my face. I read the reviews on this eyeliner and I decided to give it a go. Now I am a liquid eyeliner convert. It's pretty damn easy to use and I'm kind of surprised at myself. I bought the ultra black and its very dark and intense so I keep it to a thinner line for the daytime. but I used the brown one the most. I can even do the elusive wing with good results so this eyeliner must be foolproof; or I have beginners luck.

Moisturizers -The Body Shop - Vitamin E Intense Moisture Cream
rated 5 of 5
Smurf72 2/28/2013 4:50:00 PM

I have been thru several tubs of this stuff already. I was having trouble with dry, flaky skin and I made the mistake of over-exfoliating to make things worse. A Saleslady at Beauty Brands tried to sell me a $75 kit from Philosophy to fix the problem but I decided I could probably find something way more affordable. I already had been using the body shop body butters so I went in to look at their face products. I picked up this Vitamin E Intensive Moisture cream and I am hooked. It sinks in and doesn't leave any kind of oily film on the skin. Just a moisturized face-It is great. I do NOT like that oily feeling from creams and lotions. It works perfectly fine under my make up and keeps the flakies away. I usually buy all my tbs products when they are having sales or when I have built up some rewards points and I have a $15 or $25 off coupon. I am a hardcore body shop fan when it comes to lotions and cosmetics.

Liquid -Cover Girl - Outlast Stay Fabulous 3 in 1 Foundation
rated 5 of 5
Smurf72 2/28/2013 4:39:00 PM

So far I am liking this foundation. I was using a powder foundation and it just seemed to melt away by the evening and then I really noticed how tired and 40 years old I look. I have really dry skin in the winter and this foundation stays matte and it stays put. I use The Body Shop Intense Vitamin E face lotion first and then this CG outlast foundation with a brush and I don't have to touch up with powder during the day. It also does fine thru a workout but I don't sweat on my face that badly. As others have mentioned I was not in the habit of buying CG products after I tried the CG foundation with the Olay serum in it that Ellen was pushing. It made me a slick nasty oil spill. Yuck. I stayed away from liquid foundation for several years after that. I really wish I could get away with tinted moisturizer or just BB cream but like I said....tired and 40 and occasional breakouts to boot. I have bought a second bottle of this for my 17 year old daughter. She likes it too. Edit: It's a little too dry for me in winter so I'm mixing a drop of this and a drop of The Body Shop Moisture Foundation in Shade 05. Perfect for what I need right now.
