Moisturizers -Kiehls - Ultra Facial Moisturizer

So I heard and saw on Youtube videos that Mario Dedivanovic (Kim K makeup artist) uses this before applying her foundation to help moisturize the skin and make the foundation 'stick' better. I have particularly dry skin so anything that helps my foundation from being flaky and wearing off helps. I decided to try it out and bought the 2.5oz for $13 off Amazon. It arrived and I was very pleased with the packaging. A small airplane safe size with a flip top and a soft squeeze bottle. I squeezed out a pea sized amount and applied to my face. The consistency is a little thinner then a cream, which I was hesitant about because my dry skin needs the heaviest stuff usually. Surprisingly the pea sized amount slid smoothly over my whole face and immediately my skin felt softer, more radiant and smooth. The scent was light and didn't bother me. I put on my foundation and it blended beautifully over top of it giving my foundation a more dewy look, which is what I'm always aiming to achieve because otherwise my skin is somewhat lackluster. So anyway, just raving because moisturizers that work are hard to find for me! Dry skinned ladies, look no further!!

Liquid -Maybelline - Fit Me Foundation
rated 5 of 5
SlowRnB 2/19/2011 4:32:00 PM

First of all, I am a high end product junkie. Only because of my hinderance of extra spending money due to college tuition did I decide to mozy into the drugstore to get a budget friendly version of my beloved GA Luminous Silk foundation. I bought Fit Me due to reviews and raves on the boards and I am not disappointed. The bottle looks so chic next to my other HE foundations and the color 220 is such a perfect match for my NC30 light/medium olive skin. Just like GA LSF, Fit Me is light, silky, and has a light/medium dewy coverage. It smells a little like roses and it glides on so smooth. I have dry skin and my skin loves this. No flaking, looking cakey or dry with the formula of this foundation. Oily skin people may not like this formula, also those who are looking for more coverage may want to look elsewhere. If you just want a foundation to even out your skintone and have it look a bit better then before, then go run out to try Fit Me! Only $6.99 a bottle which is SO much more reasonable then the recent $15 drugstore foundations brands have been trying to crank out. I hope Maybelline keeps this one around for a bit. This is quickly coming to be my fave winter/spring foundation for SUCH a fraction of the cost.

Hair Styling Tools -Goody - Spin Pin
rated 2 of 5
SlowRnB 6/7/2010 9:10:00 AM

Hopped on the bandwagon for the spin pins (I bought them at Target, last box of brunettes on the shelf) and I have to say I'm quite disappointed. I have thick, long hair down to my mid back and I used both to try and secure my hair. I tried to put them in the top and bottom as the directions said and criss crossed. I put them in every which way and nothing held my bun to my head. When it finally did hold, it was for all of 15 minutes and it felt very loose. They say one spin pin = 20 bobby pins, well if '40' bobby pins were in my hair, they would hold my bun for sure, and these two spin pins didn't do a thing. I wanted this to work.

Eye Shadow -MAC - Sable Eye Shadow
rated 5 of 5
SlowRnB 5/3/2010 12:35:00 PM

My favorite everyday go-to shade by MAC! I wanted something taupey, and I tried Satin Taupe on my light/medium olive skin (NC30) it just pulled purple on my lids. Thank goodness I found Sable thanks to a lovely MUAers rec. Sable has the best texture! Soft, smooth and buttery with nice pigmentation. It's a medium bronzey brown with the slightest hint of plum. The bronze tones blend right in with my warm skin and it leaves just a natural warm taupe on my lids. It's perfect! I pair it with Cork in the crease and Shroom to highlight my browbone. I don't know why I didn't try this shade sooner! MAC shadows are by far the best.

Liquid -Christian Dior - Diorskin Nude Hydrating Makeup SPF 10 [DISCONTINUED]
rated 4 of 5
SlowRnB 12/11/2009 11:13:00 AM

Because I'm never satisfied with anything, I decided to buy another foundation even though I have one I'm happy with. I usually use Lancome's Photogenic Lummesence. I've been very happy with it so far, but just wanted something new. I have dry skin that is acne prone. I wanted a medium coverage with a semi-dewy finish. I settled on Diorskin Nude. I really like this foundation! It does have a hefty price tage ($45) but it is everything that I want! It gives medium coverage, doesn't emphasize flakes on my dry skin, and leaves a satin finish. Not oily and not completely matte. My perfect shade is 030 Medium Beige. I'm an NC30 in MAC. The smell of this foundation is really nice too. Some people might not like scented things on their face, but I don't mind it, and it wears off after a few minutes. I didn't give it a 5 because, honestly....I think I still like my Lancome better :P

Conditioner -Sebastian - Drench
rated 5 of 5
SlowRnB 10/8/2009 8:41:00 AM

First off, let me say that I have very thick, long hair. It's hard for me to get it smooth enough to blowdry and be done with it. My hair goes through so much. Blowdrying, straightening, curling etc. Well, one day I went to get my hair done. My stylist used this conditioner that smelled really good. I asked her what it was. She said Sebastian Drench. Nice. Then she gave me a blowout and it was perfection! My hair was soft, shiny, bouncy, and smelled awesome. I knew I had to go out and buy this. I wish they came in inbetween sizes, because to my knowledge, you can only buy the 8 oz, or the 33oz. The 33 oz is about $30! I settled for the 8 oz. for $12. I put this in my hair, rinsed it, and it didn't feel very soft at first but then I blow dried it and my hair became straight, frizz free silk! Just like the salon. I will always repurchase.

Lip Gloss -NARS - Lip Lacquer in Chelsea Girls
rated 5 of 5
SlowRnB 9/2/2009 9:52:00 AM

Oh how I love Chelsea Girls! First off, the packaging is cute. A little pot with a rubberized, black caps that is signature to NARS. I hate wiping my finger though after I apply it to my lips. The texture is that of a lipstick with a bit of gloss. It's very thick and somewhat sticky. The smell isn't the greatest, but what it does to my lips is amazing! It's a nudey/pink/beige. The perfect nude for my lips that doesn't wash me out. It has a cushy satin finish. Not matte, and not glossy. It stays for awhile. Some people complain of it looking grayish on them, but not for me. It gives me a great nude lip that compliments a dark, dramatic eye. It's expensive at $24, but for me, it works, so I will repurchase.

Eyeliner -L'Oreal - Extra-Intense Liquid Pencil Eyeliner
rated 5 of 5
SlowRnB 7/21/2009 8:35:00 AM

Finally!! A dupe for my beloved MAC Smolder kohl that doesn't smudge as easily! This liner is so smooth, so soft, and so pigmented. It's only a fraction of the cost. I got these babies as a buy one get one free sale. Originally they're $9 each, but if you wait for sales, they're only $4.50 each. Such a bargin! I bought the color black and it's the richest, smoothest black d/s pencil I've tried yet! Applies beautifully and it stays! Believe it. :) I will re-buy.

Lipstick -L'Oreal - Colour Juice Stick in Pink Lemonade [DISCONTINUED]
rated 5 of 5
SlowRnB 7/10/2009 9:42:00 AM

I'm so sad these wonderful little lippies are discontinued :( They remind me of the slimshines from MAC, only a little thicker. Packaged in a silver metal tube, the Color Juices are the perfect lip products for me. Most lipsticks are too heavy IMO. I have to sheer them out with gloss. Color Juices are a lipgloss/lipstick hybrid. Sheer color, a little glossy shine so they aren't drying. My favorite is the Pink Lemonade color. It's a sheer, sheer light pink. Has a litte iridescent shine to it, and makes your lips look glowy. Some people complain about the smell, but I love the smell! It's fruity. My SO loves it. I used to buy these all the time and I'm sad to see them go :( I'll just have to buy them from Ebay.

Concealers -It Cosmetics - Bye Bye Under Eye
rated 5 of 5
SlowRnB 7/2/2009 4:44:00 PM

*Shocked* Well, it looks like this is it girls. My concealer search is over. I can't believe it. I really thought that I would never find a concealer that really covered my circles. Until now. It Bye Bye concealer is a remarkable product. The consistency is similar to MUFE Full Cover, but it's WAY better then Full Cover. For one, it's a moisturizing formula and not a dry one. A huge plus for my dry skin. Two: It does not crease! Amazing. Three: It is truly opaque. It looks like I have no circles with this stuff on. Four: It stays! For these reasons, this is why It Bye Bye concealer is my HG. For reference, I am a MAC25-30ish and I ordered the concealer in Neutral Medium. Perfect match! The shades are a little lighter then you think. I have bad purplish/red circles and discoloration all around my eyes. It Bye Bye concealer makes me look human :) 5 lippies!

Top/Base Coats -Seche Vite - Dry Fast Top Coat
rated 5 of 5
SlowRnB 6/15/2009 10:22:00 AM

Wow. Talk about a must needed product! Ladies if you like to do your nails but are impatient about waiting for them to dry then this is the top coat for you. Before I bought Seche Vite, I would perfectly paint my nails, then wait about 15 minutes, only to get restless and get up to do something and have my nails nicked by various surfaces around my house and it would ruin my whole pedi/mani job :( My beloved ladies on the boards rec'ed me this top coat. I painted my toes and hands last night and they dried in less then 5 minutes flat. Left a great glossy shine as well. Just be sure to apply this top coat while your polish is WET. It helps it to not flake. I paint my nails about 1x a week so this is much needed in my nail polish collection!

Eye Shadow -MAC - Coquette (satin)
rated 5 of 5
SlowRnB 6/1/2009 8:05:00 AM

Not only does this gray/brown shade make a fantastic smokey eye, but it's the perfect color to fill my brows in with! This is probably the first color I have found that looks natural and doesn't turn red on my brows. Now my brows actually match the color of my hair! Every other brow powder I have tried looked reddish after putting it on. Coquette is my HG brow powder as well as a great eyeshadow. It's a satin formula I believe, so it isn't completely matte, but there is not shimmer. Love.

Lipstick -Flirt - Chickstick Smooth and Shiny Lipcolor in Honey
rated 5 of 5
SlowRnB 5/6/2009 2:05:00 PM

Due to MAC's ever inflating prices on their glosses and lippies, I decided to take a MAC break and see what else other companies had to offer. I've always heard good things about Flirt from Kohls. I decided to test their lippies over the weekend. The lighting wasn't that great in Kohls, but I settled on their chickstick lipstick in Honey. It looked like a nude color. I bought it and put it on my lips as soon as I got out of the store. I was shocked. This lipstick surpassed all of my expectations and looked even better out in the natural light. Honey is a warm, light/medium nude with hints of caramel and a slight milky peach. The texture of the lipstick is awesome. It gives a natural shine and doesn't flake. The smell isn't offensive and the color is better then any nude MAC lipstick I've tried for my NC30 skin. Bonus. It was only $10 :) The packaging is a small rectangular black tube (similar to NARS). I love this lipstick. A new HG

Misc Beauty Tools -beautyblender - the sponge
rated 4 of 5
SlowRnB 4/27/2009 11:22:00 AM

I have tried both the beautyblender AND the SK Blue Peep and this is my comparison of both. Due to MUA hype, I hopped on the bandwagon and purchased this sponge. I purchased it ONLY after I tested the dupe of the beautyblender, which is dubbed the Sonia Kaschuk "Blue Peep". Here are my thoughts on the Blue Peep. PROS- It's cheaper then the beautyblender. It's the same size WHEN DRY as the beautyblender. The sponge is very durable. CONS- It smells like..rubber (I've washed it 10 times so far, still rubber smell). It doesn't expand when wet like the beautyblender, so smaller surface area, takes longer to blend with it. It doesn't blend evenly. I liked the Blue Peep, but I wanted to see if the more expensive one worked any better. At first I was a bit apprehensive. $25 for a sponge? Really?? But then I saw that you can actually buy 2 for $30 so that works out to $15 a sponge. Only $5 more then the Blue Peep. IMO the beautyblender is worth the money. Here is why.... PROS- Expands to twice its size when wet and covers more area. Is much softer then the SK Blue peep. Blends beautifully! My foundation looks air brushed and so even. No smell. CONS- It's more expensive. The sponge is fragile!! I made the mistake of rubbing the narrow end of it a little too hard to get makeup out and it started to rip, hence the subtracted lippie. Be careful with your beautyblender!! I use my SK peep for everyday makeup. For special occasions, I use my beautyblender. The beautyblender is suppose to last 3 months with daily use. If you limit it to special occasions, you can get much more time out of it. I hope this review helps someone!

Eye Shadow -Wet 'n' Wild - Mega Eyes Trio - Egyptian Sands [DISCONTINUED]
rated 5 of 5
SlowRnB 4/27/2009 8:48:00 AM

This is the 2nd time that I've rebought this little trio. It is simply the best DS find! I *love* wearing these shadows for a natural glowy eye. I receive a lot of compliments when I wear this trio. Even SO took notice and told me he loves when I wear these eyeshadows. The first color is a pearly ivory color that I use for a highlight. The middle shade is a glowy champagne that it used on the lid. The last shade is a shimmery light mocha color that is to be used in the crease. It was only $2.99 for this trio and it's quality surpasses MAC shadows! They blend beautifully and have the soft quality of Stila pan shadows. These don't crease on me either. What a steal. I will always love ♥
