Hair Removal -Ardell - Surgi Brazilian Wax- Microwave Hair Remover For Private Parts
rated 3 of 5

I bought this based on MU reviews and because I wanted to save $ at salons. If this is the better wax compared to the others...I do not want to experience the others. Perhaps I am not skilled enough, perhaps I am a wuss when it comes to waxing down there. (Why do we do it??!!) I didn't get the hairs out all the way and hairs broke. The wax dries up quite quickly and apparently you are meant to pull it off at a certain point where its not too tacky or crisp hard. So I tried the same way as the salon, put some here, put some there. Ouchie! I gave up half way because I just couldn't take the pain and couldn't go through with self inflicting myself there. Again...why do we do it and get addicted to it??!! the oil that came with it was really good, I would wish for an improved cup with bigger handles but all in all this was pretty good.

Shampoo -Sebastian - Volupt Shampoo
rated 5 of 5
Skylovette 10/25/2011 11:35:00 AM

My stylist recommended this line to me earlier this year. I purchased the promo pack including the conditioner and spray and did not regret it. I have fine, limp hair with an oily scalp. The worst combination. The shampoo is light weight and smells lovely and it does last as some reviewers here noted. It also gives good lift and bounce even without using the volupt conditioner or spray. And it does not dry out hair instead it makes it feel soft and healthy. I like that the bottle is turned over so you get every last bit of product out, but take care to make sure you close the lid or it may leak out. I alternate this with my anti dandruff shampoo, and you don't have to use lots of the product for it to be effective. A little does the job. Hence 1 bottle lasted me over 9 months. I would definately repurchase (infact just ordered another bottle online and slightly cheaper). Price wise, I believe its value for money.

BB Cream -Laneige - Snow BB Cream SPF41 PA++
rated 5 of 5
Skylovette 7/21/2011 12:25:00 PM

I've been using this for over 6 months and it has turned my routine around. I figure alot of the reviewers here mention that it does not cover well, but in my opinion, BB creams are not meant to be foundations. If you are looking for intense coverage you should consider foundations and not BB creams of any label. I find most BB creams are sheer and cover redness. This BB cream performs well under in covering redness. But like most BB creams I find it doesn't compliment my skin tone, but I overcome this by not using too much and to blend with my foundation sponge. Its a good sheer base if you want to continue using foundation. While I like that it is a 3 in 1, particularly the high spf. I still layer my moisturiser underneath as I have dry skin. I find that this BB cream sits dewyly on my skin and it has benefitted somewhat in its condition since using it.Or it could be that it is doing a good job of covering flaws without looking like makeup. But this has become part of my quick as flash morning routine. I use Paula's Choice Super Antioxidant Concentrate, then this and then a light dusting of Chanel Universal Poudre followed by my day other make up partners blusher & mascara. Yes I would repurchase, maybe this time I will venture using the shimmer one.

Treatments -Paula's Choice - Skin Recovery Super Antioxidant Concentrate

I have been using this serum for a year now and would not do without it in my routine. It is a versatile product, you an layer it under or over your moisturiser or when you have lazy days, as a moisturiser by itself. My skin's condition has improved with this. On most days when I need to run out of the house in a flash, I use this under BB cream then a dusting of translucent powder. It is a good start if you are thinking of using serums.

Polishes -Chanel - Morning Rose
rated 2 of 5
Skylovette 6/16/2011 1:02:00 AM

It is a damn pretty colour but as for the formula, my drug store ones fair better. It clumps easily and streaks witha mind of its own. While it looks so pretty sheer as 2 coats, it takes 3 coats to make it opaque and streak free. It does not wear well for long either, it lasted about 3 days then started chipping even with a poshe topcoat that went over teh nail edge to seal it. Definately not worth the price tag, but then again when I look at the colour, my resolve weakens, its just so pretty and it may be some time before a dupe is found. I don't normally repurchase nail polish.

Hair Removal -Nair - Hair Remover Sensitive Face & Bikini Wax Strips
rated 1 of 5
Skylovette 4/16/2011 2:52:00 AM

I agree with the reviewer below. This just rips off the top layer of your skin and leaves the skin red, bumpy and irritated for ages. To top it off, not much hairs came off, and I was left with bits of green goop to wipe off. Considering the skin was already agitated, it was an unpleasant affair. Will not purchase and do not recommend you waste your money on this. Throwing away the rest of my box.

Polishes -Chanel - Particulière

I have several dupes for this colour, but have to say that none of them come close. Its like the new french mani...you can wear it with anything. It takes me from casual days to work and then to functions. I agree with the quality and how it does chip disappointingly. I feel this is ridiculously expensive for the quality. Even my pharmacy bought polishes last longer. But alas, its the colour you are purchasing. Would I continue to buy..yes...its become a staple in my wardrobe unfortunately.

Lotions/ Creams -The Body Shop - Moringa Body Butter
rated 4 of 5
Skylovette 6/22/2010 3:05:00 AM

The most prominent feature of this body butter is without a doubt the scent! Its a heavy floral that is distinctively crisp. I think as with most scents its a personal thing. I personally love this scent. I also layer it with the soap. I adore it because its similar to my day scent - Marc Jacob's Daisy. Performance: I've found my tub to be as luscious as the Cherry Blossom. A creamy slather that is not greasy and conditions the skin very well with a lasting softness. My skin texture has improved in the last 2 months using TBS body butters. I use to have pimples on my arms even though I scrub regularly and somehow they are diminishing with body butter applications. Quantity & value : I wouldn't say this is value for money. It is expensive for the amount of applications per tub. I apply after every shower, that is 2 applications a day. A tub lasts me about 4 weeks even when applications is sparingly used. I'd say the value is probably in the scent because it lasts and lasts. Packaging: I have not had any trouble with the tub. Some may dislike the open jar style, but considering with constant use and the thickness of the product it is suited. Plus I get to use teh very last smudge. I also resuse the tubs for the last bits body lotions/handcreams that are in a dispenser.

Lotions/ Creams -MOR - Hand and Body Balm
rated 3 of 5
Skylovette 6/22/2010 1:46:00 AM

The product soaks into the skin very quickly and leaves skin soft with no sticky film.I did not find any lasting softness and the scent did not linger past an hour. I find this product expensive for what it provides. But MOR has amazing scents and is probably why I do repurchase. I mostly gravitate to the Orange Blossom scent, very fresh and comforting. Just how you need to feel after a shower. I wish the scent would last longer. It does not even transmit to my pyjamas like the Bodyshop butters do. I might try the body butter version. The dispenser deposits the right amount and is a bonus pretty decor on the bathroom shelf.

Scrubs -Crabtree & Evelyn - La Source Hand Recovery
rated 5 of 5
Skylovette 6/11/2010 4:36:00 AM

I've been using this product for about 6 years now. Its my own little manicure in a tube(saved me $$$ from going for a salon mani). Like another reviewer noted, it goes on dry and you rub it in, rinse then pat dry. I sometimes leave this on for about 5 minutes before rinsing, as a sort of hand mask. The reason why there is a waxy, oily finish right after is because that's all the good stuff that will get soaked into the skin (thats why you pat dry). It soaks into the skin very quickly too and leaves a lingering fresh fragrance. You do not have to follow up with a moisturiser if you don't have the time. This stuff lasts a good long while too as it is in a tube. I even had a tube last me 2 years! (I know the ladies @ C&E would not be pleased to hear that). The smell didn't turn, maybe intensified a bit. I have repurchased and stocked up during a sale. I took a lippy of as I feel that this is quite pricey for a handscrub. But it is worth the extra few dollars because: 1. Its packaging allows it to last, is hygenic and dispenses the right amount. 2. Delivers as promised. 3. Is multifunctional - Exfoliater+Mask+Moisturiser 3. Saves you money from too many salon trips. 4. Gives that pampering element at home anytime without having to book a time to make small talk with a salon girl.

Lotions/ Creams -The Body Shop - Japanese Cherry Blossom Body Butter
rated 3 of 5
Skylovette 1/27/2010 8:06:00 AM

A delicate scent which I have found to not last that long. I've also found this pretty thick and sticky to wear in Summer. May keep it for Winter use. I think BDS body butters tend to be expensive for the amount you get. I'm not a fan of anything in tubs actually.. 1 its bothersome especially after I've finished smearing it on my body and wanting to close the tub with slippery fingers. 2, its not hygienic. Will I repurchase..probably not, I don't see the real value in this. There are far better quality moisturisers in the market for the same price per ml, or cheaper.

Gels/Soaps -The Body Shop - Moringa Soap
rated 5 of 5
Skylovette 1/27/2010 7:57:00 AM

The fresh, not cloy, floral scent of this is divine and addictive. Ihave a bar stored in my cabinet and everytime I open it it wafts up invitingly...its a scent that you don't get tired of. Agreed most of body shop bars dn't last that long, but this is a real treat and makes a great gift too. Best thing about body shop soap packagings is that its non pretentious..no boxes to throw out and feel guilty about, because we all know half the cost goes into the packaging anyway.

Polishes -TheFACEShop - Nail Talk Polish (All Colors)
rated 2 of 5
Skylovette 12/30/2009 9:13:00 AM

I bought a bottle of blue, and the sheerness of the darker colour didn't bother me until I went back to get a Red - big mistake. It was so sheer it took me 4 coats to get colour impact. I'm not impressed with the quality. They should just concentrate on their make up, lotions and creams.

Top/Base Coats -Essie - Good to Go! The Fastest Drying Top Coat
rated 4 of 5
Skylovette 12/30/2009 9:08:00 AM

Yes, this has to be one of the fastest Top Coats I've ever tried. It does dry fresh polish almost on contact. What I like about this is that it picks up very little vanish and transfer it to the bottle. NONE if you wait about 4 seconds before applying this (or if you do your nails in rounds and come back to the first nail you painted). Within under a minute its safe to touch, and within 3 minutes its likes its namesake - Good to go! It isn't the longest wearing top coat, my polish had a chip the next day even though I went over the edges. I would say Poshe is a better.

Misc Beauty Tools -Ardell - LashTite Adhesive
rated 4 of 5
Skylovette 12/30/2009 8:58:00 AM

If you are looking for a strong bonding, semi permanent glue that will last 3-4 weeks, this is a good candidate. This should be used with individual lashes not the strip and is not intended for short couple of days usage. I use this in place of going to salons for eyelash extensions. I cannot believe how much money I have spent at salons. Especially since after a couple of days when I return to patch up the few that have fallen out and they still charge me. With this glue I have saved heaps of money. The black version: This stuff dries up quite quickly during application, I had to keep breaking the top layer to get to the wetter layer underneath. Some do drop a day or 2 later, depending on the attachment of the lash. As the reviewer mentioned before, it stays on longer if its attached to the lash and the base/skin. It drops quicker if attached to the skin only.Yes, it doesn't last long 4-6 weeks - but the best part is reapplying or refilling your lashes at your own will. There is a smell but it I do not find it overpowering. I have sensitive eyes and this does not irritate. Clear Version: The clear version is inferior in quality to the black. It dries extremely quickly during application. You have to be very deft at your application. It does not have the staying power as the black. The smell of the clear is much stronger than the black. Additionally, if you have put a bit too much on, it looks like you have bits of sleep in your eyelash. It turns into a disaster when you try to disguise it with eyeliner. The clear can probably pass of as superglue! Removal & relaxing your lashes: The preference is to remove this with an fake eyelash remover. Trick is soak a cotton ball with the remover and let is sit on your lash for a few minutes then quick gentle wipes. I found that baby oil works as well, but if the lash has been on for a longer period than a 2 weeks. As recommended by salons, rest your lashes for about a month before reapplying. Packaging: Most of the bottles I get are the tube glass bottles with a screw cap. Only a tiny drop is required but when pouring onto my foil, too much glue gets deposited and then wasted. The product dries in the bottle if it is opened frequently too. It also takes a while for it to travel to the opening when it has thickened. I haven't come across the squeezy tube yet.
