Mascara -Maybelline - Lash Stiletto - Waterproof
rated 5 of 5

I love this product. I have short stumpy asian lashes and I picked up this mascara from a closing down sale for $4 AUD. That was pretty cheap compared to its normal RRP. Since it is a drugstore mascara, it will regularly be on sale for $10 or less... I would suggest picking it up during these sales since they happen almost every week e.g. at Priceline. I needed a waterproof mascara and this just happened to be there so I picked it up. I didn't expect much from it but it definitely lengthened my lashes and added volume like no other. It's become my HG mascara. For those of us with asian lashes, it's quite hard to get a mascara that holds your curls, but for me this did it perfectly. It is quite a dark black which I love and I have been complimented on many occasions for having long and full eyelashes - a very rare thing for me to hear. This mascara doesn't sting when it gets into your eyes. In terms of flakiness, there were small bits here and there but definitely not bad in my opinion. I plan to repurchase this continuously as my waterproof mascara. I use it everyday in place of my Fiberwig, L'Oreal Voluminous and Bourjois 1001 Lashes Mascara. Please keep in mind when I purchased this I was looking for a lengthening and waterproof mascara - thus it will work differently for different people depending on what they look for and their eyelashes. Also note the mascara works best when you have opened it brand new. After about a month is has dried a bit and doesn't work to lengthen as well as it used to... however, since I used it everyday and it was relatively cheap, I would repurchase.

Pressed Powders -E.L.F. - Complexion Perfection
rated 5 of 5
Skindz 8/6/2010 2:19:00 AM

I bought this from an Australian company who resells ELF products. I didn't think that this could be used as a skin tone corrector from all the reviews that I had seen from youtube. Fortunately for my NW20 skin, not only did it even out my skin tone, it was also a fanatastic finishing powder. I've ditched my old powder and this one has taken over for my everyday look. Pros: Good as a skin tone corrector for those with pale skin, doesn't make you feel cakey, big mirror, sleek packaging and sets makeup well Cons: Can be a bit powdery, lots of fall out, fades quite quickly throughout the day, wouldn't recommend it for people with dry skin and it might look white or really light on darker skin tones.

Makeup Brushes -E.L.F. - Studio Powder Brush
rated 4 of 5
Skindz 6/23/2010 11:49:00 AM

I already have the Artiste Flat Top Brush which I absolutely LOVE. But I decided I wanted to try something new so I purchased this brush for $6.95 AUD online... I heard the reviews so I bought two. I must admit that I LOVE it. It's so versatile. I can use it for liquid foundation/mineral foundation/powder foundation/loose powder/bronzer/blush... almost everything. Compared to the Artiste brush... I think Artiste brush bristles are a lot shorter and more compact. Thus, the Artiste one is better for when you want full coverage and its much better for stippling on foundation too. The ELF brush gives you good coverage but the Artiste one is better when using liquid foundation. Both brushes are soooooo soft. The reason why I gave this 4/5 is because the brushes aren't consistent. The 2nd brush I bought was cut on a weird angle and now its like a slant top brush... I guess I'll find a use for it somehow. Oh and it also takes FOREVER for this brush to dry. Overall, highly recommended!

Eyeliner -Maybelline - Define-A-Line Eyeliner in Ebony Black
rated 1 of 5
Skindz 5/28/2010 8:53:00 AM

No! No! No! I don't know how Maybelline got it all wrong this time. I mean don't get me wrong, I LOVE the brand. I'm a loyal customer who loves their foundations, blushes, lipsticks, concealers and mascaras (including define a lash). These products tend to be such good quality for their price... but this eyeliner... thank goodness I got it on a 2 for 1 sale for $5AUD. Pros: - The smudger and sharpener end is cute Cons: - Smears and smudges like crazy - Transfers to the upper crease so easily - Doesn't stay on - It soft but to the point when applying it, it easily breaks - Unbelievably messy This product is definitely not worth even $1. Terrible product. Wouldn not recommend or repurchase!

Eyes -MAC - Paint Pot in Bare Study
rated 4 of 5
Skindz 4/1/2010 9:51:00 AM

I'm going to start by saying MAC in Australia... $_$!!! It's soooooo expensive. $35 for this little thing seems to be a bit extreme. However, this product does the trick of providing a nice base in which my eyeshadow can adhere to for an entire day and because you only use a little bit, it should last for a while. Bare study is one of those shimmery neutral colours that will work with just about any eyeshadow and I find that it doesn't crease because it dries pretty fast. The paint pot blends quite well and I'm a sucker for the packaging (although the screw top can get annoying). Would I purchase again? If I could get it cheaper in another country... yes (e.g. I purchased another paint pot in HK for about $21 AUD). $35 is a bit extreme for a base, especially when there are other products out there that are equal quality and cheaper.

Toners -Unlisted Brand - Drugstore Witch hazel
rated 5 of 5
Skindz 4/1/2010 9:39:00 AM

I use the T.N. Dickinsons witch hazel and I have been using it for about 1.5 months. Previously I used my biore triple astringent toner but I wanted to try something more natural. I heard about witch hazel and how it's good for problem and sensitive skin. I love that this product is natural. I put it on a cotton bud all over my face, I let it dry and spray two pumps of my tea tree water (from Lush) over the top. This is a perfect combination. It keeps my t-zone balanced and my skin seems to be clearer. I think I will keep to this routine as it is not as harsh on my sensitive skin. The only things I don't like is the squirty bottle (I like open tops where I can just put it directly on a cotton ball) and the smell (but this smell doesn't linger around your face so it's ok). However, overall I recommend people trying this product. It's cheap, natural and accessible.

Moisturizers -L'Oreal - Pure Zone anti-imperfections moisturiser
rated 5 of 5
Skindz 4/1/2010 9:31:00 AM

I got this when it was on sale for $4 at Chemist Warehouse in Australia (a saving of $15). I grabbed 2 and they lasted about 8-10 months. I have to say that my skin is extremley acne-prone, very sensitive and red. This product did not irritate my skin, nor did it break me out. In fact, I quite like it. My skin has been behaving itself for the past months and I think it's because of this moisturiser. However, the one thing that is bad is that it's not very moisturising... but I put this on first, let it sink in and then apply a layer of DDMG, Clinique Extra Moisture or for those of you in Australia QV cream. It works great! However, it seems as though this product is discontinued as I cannot find it anywhere =(.. I have to find a new moisturiser base now.

Lipstick -MAC - Viva Glam Cyndi [DISCONTINUED]
rated 5 of 5
Skindz 3/9/2010 5:56:00 AM

I'll admit, I went to my MAC counter thinking I can't wait to get the Viva Glam Gaga. I tried it on and it made my lips look so dry, it emphasised the lines and it was bright pink. Not for me. So I decided to try the Viva Glam Cyndi. And... O-M-GOSH. It's STUNNING... so I bought it! I'm NW20 with black hair and brown eyes and coupled with this lipstick... *thumbs up*. It will make any look pop! VG Cyndi applies really smoothly and moisturises my lips, while at the same time has quite long lasting power. It provides a buildable colour which is something I love and unlike other red lipsticks, this has a coral undertone so it isn't too in your face. While pricey - $35 in Australia, proceeds do go to Charity so I don't feel so bad spending so much =D. This is my first MAC lipstick and I'm definitely not disappointed.

Toners -Biore - Triple Action Astringent
rated 4 of 5
Skindz 8/30/2009 4:28:00 AM

I actually like this product. After believing that the Clinique Anti-Blemish system would help me, I was sadly disappointed when it didn't work. Therefore, I decided to try a cheaper alternative instead of wasting all my money on products that never keep their promises. To my suprise, although this toner has not gotten rid of all my pimples, it has certainly improved my skin. I love the way it makes my face feel cleaned, fresh and tingly after I've used it and I would recommend it. You can even see the left over residue from the cleanser and any makeup. If you have really sensitive skin, try and use only a little bit because it can be harsh. But with a nice moisturiser, it will leave your skin feeling soft. I like the fact that it is a squeeze bottle but there's something about Clinique's product packaging that I love.

Scrubs -Biore - Pore Perfect Pore Unclogging Scrub
rated 4 of 5
Skindz 8/8/2009 9:12:00 PM

I bought this product for about $10.99. I've used it for a few weeks now and so far its going alright. I wouldn't say I've had an absolute turn around in my pimples. This cleanser does make my face feel super clean once I've used it. The beads inside the mixture aren't harsh at all and provide a nice exfoliation. The cream formula itself, makes my skin feel extra minty and cool, which can either be good or bad depending on if you like this feeling. I think it is the menthol makes my skin feel all clean, I'm just hoping my skin is actually clean. The synthetic wax I believe makes my skin feel smooth, again I hope my skin is actually smooth. I like the smell of this product and I will continue using it. UPDATE: Used in conjunction with the Biore Astringent, it's working fairly nicely. I have noticed fewer pimples (although I still have bumps) but I hope the trend continues!

Eye Shadow -Unlisted Brand - BYS - Black Steel Shadow Palette
rated 3 of 5
Skindz 8/8/2009 9:00:00 PM

I picked this up for $4.95 at K-Mart. It comes with 5 smokey eye shadow colours that complement each other very well. The colours are great and they are quite pigmented. It comes in really nice packaging that is black and looks quite sleek (I wish it came with a mirror though!). However, you get what you pay for. They tend to get fairly powdery when you put your brush into it and they don't pack on that easily. But, if you use a cream shadow base or a primer, then it sticks on quite well and packs on great. But for $4.95 I'm not complaining. It's worked well with a base and even though its powdery, I don't mind it.

Lipstick -Unlisted Brand - Savvy Lipstick
rated 5 of 5
Skindz 7/11/2009 10:19:00 AM

I purchased these limited edition Savvy lipsticks from priceline for $2.99 AUD each. One is in the colour Turkish Delight and the other is Mousse. They are so creamy, moisturising and stay on for a reasonable amount of time. Turkish Delight is a lighter nude colour and is definitely the favourite one as it matches the colour of my lips. I love these colours and I will definitely repurchase!

Makeup Brushes -Avon - Concealer Brush
rated 5 of 5
Skindz 7/11/2009 10:12:00 AM

I got this for about $4 AUD which is soooooo cheap for a concealer brush. For $4 I didn't think that the quality would be as good as it is. I was quite shocked when I first got it because it was really soft. But the best part is that it doesn't shed. This is perfect for really good coverage. The brush is really stylish too. It reminds me a little of the MAC brushes. Anyway I would definitely purchase again!

Foundations -Australis - Foundations
rated 3 of 5
Skindz 7/11/2009 10:04:00 AM

This product was quite a nice colour match for me. I already have the pressed powder in the normal range and the fresh and flawless pressed powder. These two things work great and I absolutely love them. I would definitely buy these two again because they did not break me out at all and I have really acne-prone skin. As for the fresh and flawless liquid foundation (#nude), you can really tell that it's oil-free. It doesn't 'glide' when I put the foundation on. Instead, once it touches your skin you have to blend really quickly because it absorbs so fast. However, I do love the fact its oil-free and has SPF15. This did not make me break out either. In terms of repurchasing, i'll think about it when I get used to the quick absorption.

Moisturizers -Biore - Nourish Moisture Lotion SPF 15
rated 3 of 5
Skindz 6/29/2009 3:31:00 AM

I really love the smell of this product. It's the best scent out of all my moisturisers. It was pretty cheap when I bought it from priceline. I tend to love Biore products and this one is just ok. It is moisturising but even though it's oil free, I recommend it for people with normal or dry combination skin only. When I put this product on my forehead (because I have an oily t-zone), it was not a pretty sight. It made my forehead look really oily. Therefore, I only use this product for my cheeks, which are quite dry. If it wasn't for the gorgeous packaging, the incredible smell and the sunscreen in it (even though its only SPF15), I don't think I would purchase it again.
