Cleansers -Cerave - Hydrating Cleanser

I love this product, it is inexpensive and effective in cleansing my skin without stripping or irritating. At the same time, I can see how this would be problematic if you had a lot of makeup to remove because it's likely too gentle to remove a full face of makeup. I love it and will continue to buy, super gentle, super effective for what I use a cleanser for.

Moisturizers -Cerave - Moisturizing Lotion

I gave this lotion a try as I was tired of overpaying for moisturizers when the wintertime came and my skin dried out. I have rosacea and occasional acne and this lotion has been a dream. My skin is soft, smooth and soothed. The formula is unique, the ceramides and hyaluronic acid make such a difference in maintaining healthy skin. For the price, there is nothing on the market that can compete.

Moisturizers -Cetaphil - Moisturizing Cream

I actually find this product lighter than the Daily Advance Ultra Hydrating Lotion (though that is also a great product). I find the best way to avoid feeling greasy is to liquify the product between your fingertips, pat onto the skin and then smooth around. Using this sparingly is the key because it's very emollient. My rosacea prone skin has not ever been irritated by this moisturizer. For the price, it's a terrific value and a tub of this lasts forever.

Lotions/ Creams -Cetaphil - Cetaphil Daily Advance Ultra Hydrating Lotion For Dry Sensitive Skin
rated 5 of 5
SkinSense78 8/22/2009 3:20:00 PM

This is a terrific moisturizer for anyone with sensitive skin. Due to travelling overseas I had to switch from my Paula's Choice products (which I still LOVE, I'll always use her 2% BHA Gel because nothing beats it) and I decided to try Clinique. The Clinique products I used (Mild Liquid Facial Soap, Mild Clarifying Lotion and Dramatically Different Moisturizing Gel) irritated and burned my skin. Honestly the worst skincare experience ever. Out of desperation I hit the supermarket and grabbed the Cetaphil Gentle Cleanser and the Daily Advance Ultra Hydrating Lotion. My skin was totally fixed in 3 days. This lotion is FABULOUS, it saved my skin and completely reversed the irritation, burning, peeling and dryness caused by Clinique's wretched products.

Cleansers -Clinique - Liquid Facial Soap Extra Mild

Irritated the hell out of my skin. Dried the hell out of my skin. Just literally was the worst cleanser I've ever used. The Mild Liquid Facial Soap, while still too drying, was MILES better than this one. It has some great ingredients in it, but that's it. It's bad news.

Toners -Clinique - Mild Clarifying Lotion

On paper this product should be a slam dunk. I have used and loved BHA products (specifically Paula's Choice 2% Gel) and needed an option that is readily available overseas so I went with the well regarded Mild Clarifying Lotion which Paula Begoun raves about in her books. It burned my skin. It's as simple as that. After a few days of use I was left with inflamed, irritated skin that looked like it had been severly burned. My neck, always perfect looking, was a streak of red hideousness. It's taken weeks of heavy moisturizing to get my skin back to normal. This truly was the product from hell which just kills me because I really wanted to love Clinique...but I just cannot. It irritated my skin terribly.

Moisturizers -Clinique - Moisture Surge Extended Thirst Relief
rated 1 of 5

Terrible. Didn't help my dry skin one bit. I was left dehydrated, tight and with a red rash from this Oil Free Gel/Creme. It's really, really disappointing. The Clinique SA billed it as a moisture miracle. What a joke. It felt great for 5 minutes and then I was feeling like I'd been caught in a wind tunnel, my skin was irritated and unhappy with this stuff.

Moisturizers -Clinique - Dramatically Different Moisturizing Gel

This aggravated the hell out of my rosacea prone skin. It dehydrated my skin and ended up giving me a rash on my neck that looked like a 2nd degree burn that peeled. I cannot figure out which ingredient is the culprit. The caffeine? Maybe? All I know is that this product is great for some but terrible for me.

Cleansers -Clinique - Liquid Facial Soap - Mild
rated 3 of 5
SkinSense78 8/16/2009 1:28:00 AM

This is a good cleanser that foams into a great lather and is non-irritating. Unfortunately, after a week of use it left my skin feeling really tight, so I couldn't continue with it. Definitely worth a try, it's the best of Clinique's Liquid Facial Soaps, but it isn't a slam dunk.

Treatments -Paula's Choice - Skin Perfecting 2% BHA Gel Exfoliant
rated 5 of 5
SkinSense78 7/4/2009 9:35:00 PM

This is the best product I've ever used. This gel smoothed out my skin like nothing ever has. My skin is clearer, firmer, more elastic and just overall healthier thanks to this gel. I tried and liked the PC 1% lotion, tried and hated the 2% lotion (balled up, pilled, never absorbed) and then came across the 2% gel: it's the best of the bunch. I sooo recommend this product for anyone with rosacea or blackheads or acne, it makes a huge difference with all of them.

Treatments -Paula's Choice - Skin Perfecting 2% BHA Lotion Exfoliant

Very different texture than the 1% which literally melts into the skin. This one is very thick and hard to smooth into the skin, though I only use it at night so a white cast isn't a problem. I contacted Paula's Choice, they said they'd heard this problem a lot, it's due to a change in manufacturers and they're actively trying to solve the problem (something about too much of a certain ingredient)... That said, it DOES work. It's the only thing that has tackled my blackheads with any success. Smoother, clearer, less red, nicer skin. Beta Hydroxy Acid is a revelation! I have rosacea and I have to urge EVERYONE WITH ROSACEA to try this, it might not work for all, but for those who it does work for, it's fabulous.

FABULOUS! I needed a lighter moisturizer as the seasons have changed, so I swapped my Paula's Choice Skin Recovery Moisturizer for the Paula's Choice Skin Balancing Moisture Gel. I'm in love...it's perfect. Highly recommended for anyone with rosacea prone skin, it's seriously amazingly fantastic!

Sunscreen -Paula's Choice - Extra Care Non-Greasy Sunscreen SPF 45
rated 5 of 5
SkinSense78 4/20/2009 7:22:00 PM

I totally disagree with the other review. This product is very elegant and I apply this product liberally. Very liberally in fact. I have rosacea prone skin and I have not found it irritating at all. Furthermore, the matte finish lasts all day on my face. I love the texture, it's 'cushiony'...almost like a marshmallow if that makes any sense! Honestly, this is a really good sunscreen. The only problem I have with it is the packaging. It has a screw top...which is bothersome because the sunscreen itself is quite milky...a flip top would be much better. I've already got in touch with Paula's Choice and they tell me they are considering a packaging change.

Toners -Paula's Choice - Skin Recovery Enriched Calming Toner
rated 5 of 5
SkinSense78 3/22/2009 6:00:00 PM

I never thought I needed a toner. They seemed superfluous and useless. Then I tried Paula's Choice Skin Recovery Toner. I was wrong, very, very wrong. This toner is FABULOUS! I really do think it's the missing link in my skincare routine. It imparts light moisture onto my skin, calming and soothing it. Plenty of antioxidants and soothing ingredients in it. It is absolutely fabulous and totally necessary! I hope Paula never discontinues this one, it's amazing! Highly recommended to anyone with rosacea prone skin! One tip: I find using a cotton pad tedious, so I bought one of Paula's spray nozzles and spray the toner onto my face and then smooth it around, I think it saves product, doesn't expose the product to air and is faster.

Moisturizers -Paula's Choice - Skin Recovery Replenishing Moisturizer
rated 5 of 5
SkinSense78 2/24/2009 1:43:00 AM

This is the greatest moisturizer I've ever used. My rosacea prone skin, often veering towards the dry side is soothed, smoothed and hydrated thanks to this cream. I use this usually after my Antioxidant Concentrate and I use a nickel sized amount, pat it over my face, eyes and neck and then just smooth it on. It's elegant, feels great and is loaded with antioxidants, soothing plant oils, peptides and skin identical ingredients. I love it.
