Treatments -MD Skincare by Dr. Dennis Gross - Alpha Beta Daily Face Peel

This review is for the EXTRA STRENGTH Alpha Beta Peel Pads. On Monday night I wanted to buy something that would help spruce up my skin for an event coming up on the Friday. Usually I would just get an Oxygen Facial and I would be good to go but I wanted to try using a product to save some money. The sales lady swore by this product, said I would see results the next day etc and that it was just what I would need. Raved and raved about it. So I bought a pack of 10 for $50 (australian $) I have used it 5 times now and I have not seen any improvement or minor difference whatsoever. It seems like a glorified makeup remover for those last little traces of makeup. I have also now got a bunch of tiny pimples on my forehead which I never get - I am wondering if these pads have caused it. I will continue to use the remaining 5 but for something that costs that much for 10 uses when I could have gone for a product by Ultraceuticals and seen more overnight results and then be able to use it for a few months - I don't think I will repurchase.
Moisturizers -Olay - Age Defying Daily Renewal Cream - Beta Hydroxy Complex
Sierra3000 7/25/2011 1:49:00 AM
2 weeks of morning and night use but I am not noticing any results or changes in skin whatsoever. However, I love the smell and the thickness of the cream. It is soft and thick enough to be perfect as a winter moisturiser for me. I am very breakout prone but this is not breaking me out so I will repurchase until I find something else that will actually show a visible improvement in skin tone and pores etc.
Looks great the second you put it on - but be prepared to have bits of chunks of black flakes dropping off all over your cheekbones and under your eyes the entire day. Having black specks littered all over your face is particularly embarrasing when you've just been talking to the boss. Last night I was cutting an onion and got slightly teary. I was absolutely amazed how much mascara had run down my face once I eventually looked in the mirror. I've never understood the good reviews on Maybelline products. Totally not worth it imo.
Scrubs -Unlisted Brand - A'kin Jojo & Corn Gentle Exfoliating Facial Scrub

I use this morning and night. I don't use a cleanser I just use this. It is gentle and does a good job without stripping the skin bare. Skin feel smooth and soft. Product smells nice too. I have had troubled skin my entire life but all year I have been *really* happy with my skin. I really believe this product has been helping by gently unclogging the pores morning and night. Blackheads are less prominent than usual too. I also love that it is cheap! In the past I have spent a lot of money on expensive products but I have vowed to find and use better and cheaper products from now on - this I can say is definitely one of them!
I am reviewing the Rio IPL 8000 which is an Intense Pulsed Light hair removal system that you can use at home. I bought it brand new on an auction site for a very reasonable price and it arrived promptly from the UK around 1st November. Therefore it has well and truly been a month of use now. It can be used every 48hr's so I have since used it 7 times in four weeks on areas such as bikini, stomach line, underarms, and legs. To be fair, I haven't really paid proper attention to my legs - just patches here and there - I wanted to see if it would work first before I invested that much time on such a large area. I also found it a bit difficult to get all the parts of the shin area done as it wasn't flat enough - so if you're thin and petite you could find the same issue. I have very light olive skin and dark blonde hair although the hair on my legs etc is now a brown to dark brown. The machine is only suitable for certain skin and hair colour types so check out their website first. So a month on and particularly in the last week I am noticing the skin is remaining super smooth for a very long while (nearly 2 weeks) without the need for shaving every day or two like before. The bikini area is looking patchy and smooth in some areas and growing back in others. Overall a large amount of the hairs that were treated have not grown back although there are a few here and there that are starting to peep through today. I have started a blog on blogger to track the progress of this but I will report back here eventually as well. My personal view is that (at this stage), if you are going to be doing these IPL treatments I would say that you can't expect all your hair to permanently go away forever. If you do happen to experience such a thing I would say you're one of the lucky ones. Right now I would be happy with that '3 month no growth break' that professional IPL seems to give me from shaving - and the added bonus bits of it not coming back at all! We'll see how it goes. But so far I recommend it as it is definitely saving me alot of time and money and definitely creating a change in the way the hair grows back - ie/ slower or not at all - surely that in itself is a reason to buy this thing!

This is a fantastic product. You get two products for $83 (Aus). One is a tube of exfoliation product and the other is a SPF 25 sunscreen. The exfoliation product leaves your skin feeling incredibly smooth. I have been suffering from blackheads and acne for the last 20 years now and I find that using this once a day really helps me keep on top of things - so much that I panic when I start to run out. I don't use the sunscreen because I just don't trust any sunscreen with my breakouts and I try to keep skin free of anything as much as I can...but I have used it a few times in the past when I knew I would be in the sun all day - and didn't notice anything outlandish about it. So $83 is a bit much since I only use half the products but I have found some great deals elsewhere to make up for it.
Misc Beauty Tools -Clarisonic - Pro Skincare Brush
Sierra3000 8/25/2008 10:57:00 PM
I have been using this brush for one and half weeks -usually twice a day and sometimes once a day. After the first few days I noticed a fantastic improvement particularly either side of my nose and over towards the cheek bones. I have ~always~ had visible blackheads in this area but after using this brush for a few days I had to do a double take in the mirror and take a closer look. The pores in that area were invisible with no blackheads in sight. Further to this, my forehead is looking crystal clear, my skin feels super smooth and my makeup goes on very nicely. In the week following, my skin became flaky, rough, easily damaged and dry so I know I need to find a softer more hydrating cleanser and change my moisturiser. I am hoping to buy Jurlique's cleanser as soon as I can. At the moment I usually use Neostrata's Foaming AHA cleanser and the Neostrata Smoothing Lotion - both great products which are probably keeping my acne at bay but I might use them once a day from now on as they could be too drying. I basically cleanse first to get as much makeup off as I can, then I use the low setting with the sensitive brush - sometimes with a squirt of cleanser on the brush. On the drier nights I follow with straight up Vitamin E oil. I love going to bed knowing that my pores are the cleanest I can possibly achieve. In the past it was rather annoying when I would cleanse and exfoliate and then tone, only to realise that some of my makeup was still sitting there. Now I can rest assured I have done a pretty good job. It is a good feeling going to bed with super smooth skin! I seem to be breaking out alot less (no big ones, just tiny ones along the jaw line) but maybe that is due to the Neostrata AHA products I have been using. In the last few days I have noticed that the pores are visible again on either side of my nose. I am going to experiment with different cleansers to find the best fit for me and see if I can get those invisible pores back again. Overall, I definitely recommend this product for people who have oily acne prone skin. I think that this product is giving my skin a positive extra boost and keeping the pores clearer than I could ever have done manually.
I have probably bought close to 10 tubes of this stuff now. I have so far used maybe 5 full tubes of it and I will keep repurchasing. I had the kind of skin that would get at least one new pimple every day. There was never a day I could say 'yes i am happy with my skin today'. I started The Regime after reading about it so much on acne.org. I kept an online diary on acne.org and I would wash with a warm cloth and water only then applied morning and night followed my moisturiser. Id say the first two weeks were hell - very dry, painful, hideous looking skin, it looked aged and worn out. But then my skin just got better and better and better. 6 months on and I probably get one minor pimple a week maximum - and those are always very tiny and not noticeable. So id highly recommend this to someone who has the perseverence to stick with something like this cause you WILL see results :)
I love this stuff. I have been using it ever since i started getting my hair lightened 5 years ago. My hair is very fine, gets very easily damaged and dry from all the colouring but when i have a day off, i will put this mask on my hair in the morning and leave it in all day - and wash out at night, and it leaves my hair feeling absolutely fabulous. So soft and healthy and shiny - smells good too. When i dont have much time, i just leave it on in the shower for a few minutes a week and i notice a good difference then too. But i really do recommend treating yourself to an all day treatment with this stuff if youve got a day off to pamper yourself from head to toe.
After a really bad experience with breakouts using Lancomes Teint Idole, i got an exchange and recommendation for this foundation instead. Needless to say i was worried that Lancome would give me more breakouts but no, this stuff has been very good to me. I have combination, very acne prone skin, it is also very sensitive but this foundation gives a great coverage- not too thick, and best of all it is matte. I have not noticed any breakouts from this and i have been using it on and off for 2 years. I have tried so many foundations and this one seems to always be in my top 3 - and currently my favourite - esp during summer.
This stuff make my skin feel so soft and it has dramatically helped a bad breakout that i have been dealing with. I have only been using it for two days mind you, but i can see and feel a difference already. It goes really well under makeup and does not feel greasy or look oily half way through the day like alot of other products ive used.... I am washing my face with a BP wash by Benzac, then i follow with this moisturiser which contains salicylic acid and glycolic, the three best ingredients to fight off acne... It is cheap and packaged well - i have the pump bottle but ive noticed it can come in different packaging.
Loose Powders -Becca - Fine Loose Finishing Powder
Sierra3000 3/18/2005 10:28:00 PM
I bought this product because of the good reviews, the fact that it is Australian and because most importantly, it is made of non-comedogenic ingredients and i am highly prone to breakouts. I use wheat, I really like the soft finish, it smells nice, feels great, looks good and doesn't break me out. It can get messy but that is how it is with most loose powders. I read that acne sufferers should avoid pressed powders cause of the binding ingredients so I will stick with loose powders from now on - i have found my HG.
Bronzers -Napoleon Perdis - Napoleon Mosaic Bronzer Powder
Sierra3000 3/18/2005 10:23:00 PM
Do NOT try this crap if you are prone to acne. I have given this a good chance and each time the same thing has happened. The next few days i noticed lots of tiny pin prick lumps all over my cheeks.....then after a month or two months, one by one they all grow into huge painful pimples... I checked out all the ingredients and there are at least three ingredients in there that have a comedogenicity of 5 which is the highest. It contains Laureth 4, Isopropyl Myristate, Isopropyl Palmiate, Lanolins etc ALL BAD for acne sufferers. Try Becca's fine loose powder instead if you want a bit of glow without the breakout !!!
I am loving the Clean and Clear line. I started using this stuff with the Clean and Clear Acne Cleanser with BP in it and my pores were looking so much clearer within 2 days. This scrub leaves my skin so smooth and clean feeling afterwards. This has salicylic acid in it which clears the dead skin cells and the C&C Cleanser comes along and adds the BP into your pores so it has helped stop my breakouts 95% in the three weeks ive been using it. At first it will bring up all existing clogged pores and you will get pimples but once they come and go - barely any new ones will come up! I also use this with Jojoba oil.
Cleansers -Clean & Clear - Continuous Control Acne Cleaner
Sierra3000 9/21/2004 4:29:00 AM
After reading about this on acne.org i decided to try it. Most people say you will see good results after 3 weeks. They are right. I noticed improvements from the first two days although at the same time, existing pimples all emerged and were rather slow healing while using this stuff. Now that old clogging has all surfaced into pimples and gone on their way I am not getting anything new coming up after 3 weeks of daily use -unless you miss one night -you will start to break out again. You cannot afford to forget this for one night! This has benzoyl peroxide in it -ie/ puts oxygen into the skin where which Acne bacteria cannot survive and nor does it build resistance to it. At first it can be very drying and therefore could look a bit aging but now I am using Jojoba Oil every morning and night and so i am set. I am also using this with the Blackhead Cleaser from Clean and Clear (which i use morning and night)
