Foundations -Revlon - ColorStay Mineral Mousse Makeup
SiennaWu 7/16/2011 5:39:00 AM
I have been using Revlon foundations for at least five years as I find they have a good selection of shades, especially for fair skin like myself and was thrilled to discover Mineral Mousse. It applies smoothly, lasts all day (I even committed the cardinal sin of falling asleep in it and woke to discover it was still on perfectly), covers the dreaded spider veins and pimples and dries to a powdery finish that omits the need for loose powder. However, you do need to prepare the skin properly. My skin tends towards dryness, so I apply extra moisturiser and let it sit for a bit before applying the foundation. Otherwise, it quickly highlights any dry patches, which makes it a no-no for mature, drier skins (like my mother's). I imagine it would be perfect for those with oily skin. A little bit goes a long way and its important to blend the foundation straight away as it does dry fairly quickly. As with all Revlon products, its reasonably priced and won't break the bank. As the product is contained in a tube, you can easily squeeze out the amount you need (I usually squeeze little dabs for my cheeks, nose, chin etc at a time). So, with proper preparation and knowledge of your skin type, its a definite winner!

Eyeliner -MAC - Fluidline Eye-Liner Gel in Blacktrack
SiennaWu 7/14/2011 3:18:00 AM
I have used a variety of eye liners from pencil, to liquid and cake. Pencil tended to scratch my lid upon application, liquid tended to run into my eye by the end of the day and while cake applied well, it was so time consuming to constantly wet the brush and reapply to get a really black line. So I switched to gel. Mac's Blacktrack applies smoothly, so you get an instant black line without needing to reapply several times. I can always smudge it with my finger if I want a softer look. The brush is great too. It lasts the entire day and doesn't irritate my sensitive eyes, always a winner. The pot looks tiny upon purchase but you only need a little bit each time you wear it, so it looks like it'll last a while! The brand MAC is expensive, especially in Australia, but so worth it. Maybelline's gel eyeliner doesn't even come close!

Eye Primer -BeneFit Cosmetics - Stay Don't Stray
SiennaWu 3/31/2011 4:39:00 AM
I adore this product! I use it as a primer on my eyelids before eyeshadow and as a concealer under my eyes and on any spots. 'Stay, don't stray' has a creamy consistency and dries quickly to a flawless finish, covering imperfections all day and leading to perfectly lasting eyeshadow. I have very fair skin and prize my concealer above all other makeup, especially after a late night! It loses points because of the packaging, however, I find that tapping very gently on the top is the best way to get a tiny amount of product, as a little goes a long way! Also, it only comes in one shade, which suits my fair skin but they should really extend their range. Negatives aside, I would definitely repurchase 'Stay, don't stray'. Above all, a winner!

Lipstick -Revlon - Colorstay Overtime Lipcolor - Constantly Coral
SiennaWu 1/22/2011 11:22:00 PM
I was suprised by the poor reviews, as I absolutely love this product. I was disappointed when Almay discontinued their version of Colorstay, as it was a light consistency that didn't feel like paint on the lips and quickly searched for an alternative. Revlon proved to be the answer. 'Constantly coral' is a soft, shimmery pinky-orange and depending on the effect I want, I apply one thin coat or several. It's definitely not a true orange, like Revlon's colourburst coral in the bullet tube. To avoid flaking, make sure your lips are moisturised well beforehand. I put on Carmex for a few minutes and then wipe it off. Also, wait a few minutes before applying the clear top coat. I found this lasts the day for me (avoiding oily foods or dressing helps) and looks beautiful without the need for eye makeup to offset it.

Cleansers -Garnier - Clean Sensitive - Anti Tightness Cleansing Milk
SiennaWu 12/25/2010 2:44:00 AM
I adore this product. I have normal to dry skin that reacts to products containing fragrances. I also wear makeup daily and found there were few products I could use to remove makeup thoroughly that didn't cost the earth! Garnier ticks all the boxes for me, its fragrance free, not too thick in consistency and reasonably priced. I used to use Simple products, which are still brilliant, but their cleaser is a cream and incredibly thick. When cleaning my face, my usual routine is to use cotton pads to remove the milk. I do find I need to use cetaphil to get rid of the last traces of milk, but if your skin is very dry you could probably skip that step. A little of this product goes a long way too, obviously, if you're wearing heavier makup you just apply more.

Blush -Revlon - Smooth On Blush Trio - Berry Rich

Gorgeous cool-toned pink that suits my complexion perfectly. It loses points for the packaging though, the cover and mirror broke pretty quickly.

Eye Shadow -Stila - Cloud Eye Shadow
SiennaWu 12/14/2010 3:00:00 AM
This is a beautiful silvery gray that really emphasises my blue eyes, especially with a dash of black eyeliner. I find it lasts all day and I can apply it dry or wet for more impact. The only downside would be the packaging, I would prefer it to be in a stand alone container, rather than having to open the plastic pack to get to the shadow.

Liquid -Revlon - ColorStay Stay Natural Makeup
SiennaWu 12/14/2010 2:55:00 AM
This is my all-time favourite foundation. It applies smoothly, lasts all day and looks natural, thanks in part to the slightly yellow undertone. I have very pale skin and it seems the lighter foundation shades in most brands are pink-toned, thereby exasperating any redness. The minuses would be the packaging, the plastic lid broke fairly quickly and you have to be careful to pump the right amount so you get just enough. Overall though, a great product.

Mascara -Cover Girl - Lash Blast Volume
SiennaWu 12/14/2010 2:49:00 AM
Don't be put off by the clunky, bright orange packaging, the first time I used this mascara I fell in love with it and haven't bought another once since. I have fairly long, dark lashes but LashBlast volume took them to the next level with great definition, staying power and absolutely no clumping. It is also easy to remove at the end of the day.

Eyeliner -Cover Girl - Liquiline Blast in Blackfire
SiennaWu 12/11/2010 5:24:00 AM
I have used pencil, liquid and cake eye liners and recently bought Liquiline Blast. It is more like a crayon and applies smoothly with excellent staying power. I haven't needed to use the smudger because it is so smooth. I have sensitive eyes that are easily irritated but I could apply this to my waterline without any problems. I would definitely buy this again!

Mascara -Max Factor - Masterpiece Max
SiennaWu 12/8/2010 5:27:00 AM
This is the only mascara I currently use. It thickens, lengthens and separates the lashes (and the price isn't too shabby either). I have tried other products but always come back to Max Factor.

Mascara -BeneFit Cosmetics - BADgal Lash
SiennaWu 12/8/2010 5:18:00 AM
A big disappointment. The product applies very thinly and while adding length, does nothing for volume. It also has a strange smell and seemed goopy in the tube. I have bought cheaper mascaras that last longer (and dry faster). Never again!
