Mascara -Rimmel - Extra Super Lash (Curved Wand)
rated 4 of 5
SiennaSky 8/4/2010 2:15:00 PM

This is a great, every day mascara. I have oily skin and am used to mascara smudging but this doesn't on me. It doesn't clump on my fine lashes either, does a great job of separating and lengthing. The end result is very natural, soft looking long lashes. I'd probably use something else if I want a dramatic, dark and full look but this mascara is great for when I want a clean, soft and feminine look. Love the curved wand!

Polishes -Sinful - Tapping Nails

Wasn't sure how this would could out by looking at the bottle, but I'm quite happy with it. It's a reddish-orange with a bit of pink. Very shiny with a hint of shimmer. It's a nice summer color that goes well with my bronze skin. I put up a picture of a recent home manicure prior to clean-up/touch-ups. Pretty true to real life though there's a tad more flash of pink IRL.

Polishes -Sinful - Tokyo Doll

Vibrant. Fun. Youthful. Girly. Makes me think of Barbie dolls. It's an eye-catching hot pink, metallic, picks up colors from your outfit. It's extremely girly, something I am not, so I like to wear it with my usual outfit of t-shirt and jeans to add a nice little kick! Love this color - I keep looking at my nails whenever I have it on.

Polishes -Sinful - Vacation Time

Love this color. It's a great, every day color that looks great with my tan skin. My bottle had good coverage that went on smoothly. I really don't know how to describe this color, it's like a pinky nude or maybe a muted rose. Whatever it is, it's feminine and classy.

Sunscreen -Aveeno - Continuous Protection Sunblock Lotion Face SPF 70
rated 4 of 5
SiennaSky 5/29/2008 1:41:00 PM

I have naturally tan skin (think Brooke Burke's coloring when she's tanned), so I hardly ever burn, but living in Los Angeles, I get a lot of sun exposure and want to use a daily sunblock to prevent sun damage. I bought this because I had a $2 off coupon and it's oil-free. I break out very easily. I am surprised by previous reviews. My formula does not leave a white cast or residue at all, which is something I worry about with my coloring. I have used many sunblocks which made me look awful, but the Aveeno just quickly absorbs and disappears into my skin. It's very light, doesn't feel greasy at all but has a nice, smooth, slippery/supple feel right before it soaks in - which happens very fast. Maybe a bit too fast because I have to rush to spread it after spraying before it dries. I've learned to spray a smidgen more than I normally would because of this. So far, I am very happy with this product and it will be my go-to sunblock for the summer.

Hair Color -Clairol - Natural Instincts Hair Color
rated 4 of 5
SiennaSky 3/14/2008 4:39:00 PM

I wish I had read the reviews before I bought this - it really does color darker than on the box. I got Cappuccino, which is "Dark Golden Brown" but my hair ended up a very deep chocolate brown, almost black. Other than that, the process was easy, my hair doesn't feel worse (nor better), and it's only temporary. I'll probably use it again if I wanted to do a semi-permanent, but I'll go one shade lighter than what I'm aiming for.

Eye Primer -Urban Decay - Eyeshadow Primer Potion - Original (UDPP)
rated 5 of 5
SiennaSky 2/26/2008 7:15:00 PM

I have oily skin, and very oily eyelids. I have large Asian eyes with a somewhat fatty upper lid that "folds over" and "sucks in" my eyelid so it looks like I have no eyelid (single lid Asian gal here). Because of the oiliness, and the "folding," my eyeshadow always smears and creases easily. Fortunately, UDPP to the rescue! After applying foundation, I dab this on my lids and a little bit higher than my creasline (since only shadow applied ABOVE my creaseline shows on my eyes). I then dab and blend lightly with my finger, wait a minute, and apply my eyeshadow. I find that with UDPP, my eyeshadow stays put without creasing. Once, after a night out, I went to bed with all my m/u on and woke up at 10 a.m. to find my eyeshadow exactly the same! Despite all these great qualities, the best thing about UDPP is that it makes my eyeshadow's color so much more vibrant and pigmented. Don't know how or why, but it does, and I love it for that.

Hair Color -Revlon - Colorsilk
rated 5 of 5
SiennaSky 1/15/2008 2:20:00 PM

I spent a little too much money this month so decided to go el-cheapo when it came to buying hair color. I color my naturally straight, black Asian hair all the time (about once a month) and even though it's extremely drying, I usually use Feria because it's the only thing that actually shows up on my hair. It's been hit or miss though with brassiness, and it's pretty pricey. I picked up a box of Colorsilk because it was cheap, only $4.49 at Walgreens, and bought Medium Ash Brown. I am pleasantly surprised and a bit regretful that I didn't try this longer. Cheap in price does not equal cheap in quality. It covers my hair beautiful and my end color look *just* like the color on the box. Wow! I definitely will be using this again next time I color; it's my favorite brand and I've tried Feria, Garnier Nutrisse, Herbal Essences, Hydrience, 100% Color, and the one for black women and this has worked the best.

Treatments -Paula's Choice - Skin Perfecting 2% BHA Lotion Exfoliant
rated 5 of 5
SiennaSky 1/7/2008 8:01:00 PM

I have naturally oily skin with large pores and a frustrating tendency for those pores to get clogged. I don't develop normal pimples, but my forehead, chin, and the area under my lower lip get covered in hard, little, flesh-colored bumps (closed comedones). I've been using this product for about 3 months and am on my 2nd bottle now. My skin has never been clearer or smoother and there is a great glow to it! I love this product and how it makes my face look: healthy, plump, clean, and refreshed. I had been using it 2x a day, but am now only using it at night because I did notice some dryness around my mouth. This product the only thing that has worked to keep my skin clear! Love love love it!

Lipstick -NARS - Lipstick in Dolce Vita
rated 5 of 5
SiennaSky 10/15/2007 5:11:00 PM

For the longest time, I've been looking for a lipstick that, in my mind, created a feeling of "fleshy, soft, feminine, touchable, lickable, alluring." I can't really put it into more specifc words. Just a natural yet sexy, fresh look. On me, Dolce Vita does all that! It shows up as a slightly mauvey, peachy-pink color. I absolutely love it, and don't find it drying at all. As other people have said, it is pricey ($23 at Sephora), but I will definitely repurchase. P.S. I upload a before and after pic of my lips and added it to this review page. The 1st pic is bare, 2nd with Dolce Vita.

Fragrances -Christian Dior - Hypnotic Poison
rated 2 of 5
SiennaSky 10/15/2007 5:05:00 PM

After reading the reviews on here and having this recommended when I was looking for a "man magnet" scent, I went to Sephora to check it out. My first impression after spraying it on a tester strip was "Ewww, sugary cough syrup." I waited a bit to sniff the strip again and it smelled like root beer. I thought maybe it would smell different interacting with my body chemsitry, so I sprayed some on my wrist and waited about 5 minutes. It them smelled like old, sweet, dusty vanilla. I really, really wanted to like it, but it actually was making me feel ill and giving me a headache. I was surprised that there were no boxes left, just the tester bottle, and asked an SA if it was sold out (it was). She also commented on "Oh, I never tried this before," and proceeded to spray some on her own tester strip. The look on her face after her first whiff confirmed to me that I wasn't the only one turned off by this. Still, because I heard such great things about it, I asked for a sample vial so I could give it more thought. I went home, showered, spray it on for the night. I didn't get any compliments (or comments either way), and all I could smell on me was a sickening, almost mediciney vanilla scent. Certain scents make me hungry (like Cool Water), but this scent made me naseous. I'm glad I checked it out since I nearly bought it online. Definitely not a good scent for me.

Fragrances -Michael Kors - Hawaii
rated 3 of 5

I love the smell of gardenia, and to me, that note is really strong here. It smells fresh, yet tropical, sunny, fun. I feel really uplifted just by putting this on. Unfortunately, I also like people to smell my perfume, and only 1 person has ever been able to smell it on me (a girl in my gym who was about 10 feet away as I applied - she loved it), but my friends who are usually very good at noticing a new scent on me had no idea I was wearing any perfume! I don't know what it is... maybe it just blends in? Oh well. After this bottle, which will last me a long time, I won't be buying again.

Liquid -L'Oreal - HIP Flawless Liquid Makeup [DISCONTINUED]
rated 2 of 5
SiennaSky 6/1/2007 3:11:00 AM

When I first bought this product, on sale for about $8, I fell in love with the great color match and the flawless, soft, slightly powdery-looking finish. I went back to get more, and they were on sale for $3.49, so I got all the bottles in my shade (Cafe). Sadly, they'll probably all go to waste. This product breaks me out in tiny, hard flesh-colored bumps (clogged pores) and white heads. Also I've noticed that by midday my skin looks shiny and muddy. It's really too bad since I did love it initially. I've since switched to Laura Mercier's tined moisturizer in Almond, which is great, but the price difference is staggering! ($40!!)

Moisturizers -Eucerin - Eucerin Renewal SPF 15
rated 5 of 5
SiennaSky 11/12/2003 1:29:00 PM

I LOVE this moisturizer. As an oily skin, acne-prone gal who needs sun protection and yet something that won't clog my pores, it's been a lifesaver. It was designed for sensitive skin, but it works wonders on me. It soaks right in, doesn't feel greasy or leave a white cast, and the AHA's in it really help keep my skin smooth looking. My years of struggle seraching for the perfect moisturizer are over! *wipes back a tear*

Cleansers -Purpose - Gentle Cleansing Wash
rated 2 of 5
SiennaSky 11/12/2003 1:23:00 PM

I have very oily, acne-prone skin that easily breaks out if something isn't good to it. I had been using Purpose for about 6 months before I ran out and didn't get around to buying another bottle ... and that has been the best thing to ever happen! Ever since I've stopped using it, my skin is much clearer, much less oily, and my pores aren't as clogged. I can't say for sure if it was or wasn't, but I *think* this product was making my skin worse. I've moved on to another cleanser.
