Highlighters -BeneFit Cosmetics - Moon Beam

I really wanted to like this, swatched on my hand it comes up as a beautifully subtle gold shimmer with peachy undertones. However when applied to my NW15/20 face it does not show up.. at all... in any light. Applied quite heavily a get a light shine on my cheekbones but thats it. None of the promised gold and peachy shimmer. I could achieve the light shine the heavy application gives with a coat of clear lip gloss or a little vaseline, so it really doesn't do much at all for me as a highlighter. Here in Australia this is $45 a bottle, and I am so glad I didn't pay that price for it. I don't feel like I could recommend this to anyone, as the majority of reviewers seem to have the same problems. My other problem with it is the smell, it isn't terrible, but definitely not pleasant.

Moisturizers -Clean & Clear - Oil-Free Dual Action Moisturizer
rated 4 of 5
Sianreya 7/26/2010 8:52:00 AM

I really love this product, it feels very light yet I still feel it hydrates my skin effectively. My skin absorbs this quickly and so I like to use it in the morning before my foundation. When my skin really starts to dry out in winter this isn't enough to deal with it, but I just use Nivea creme and return to this the next morning. A very nice, light feeling product. Perfect as a moisturizer for summer or under foundation. Will repurchase again and again.

Eye Shadow -Cover Girl - Eye Enhancers Quad - Urban Basics
rated 1 of 5
Sianreya 7/26/2010 8:41:00 AM

These colours are hardly pigmented with alot of fallout. Even with a primer and when packed on with a 239 these colours hardly show up. I did like the highlight colour though it was quite pretty, sheer and shimmery. Wouldn't buy again and do not use.

Eye Shadow -Cover Girl - Eye Enhancers Quad - Ice Princess

Very pretty colours, was really impressed with this quad. The lighter colours are a bit chalky, but the two darker purples give a good colour payoff with my MAC paintpot. All the colours are shimmery, the lilac especially. The only problem with these shadows is that there is a alot of fallout which annoys me a little. I also am not too fond of the packaging, the flip lid scratched easily and becomes very dusty. The two sponge applicators are also very scratchy and pretty much useless. Overall worth picking up but wouldn't buy again

Styling Products -Toni & Guy - Shine-Zone Spray
rated 1 of 5
Sianreya 7/26/2010 8:30:00 AM

Very heavy product and makes the strands of my hair clump together, almost like a strong hairspray. My hair is quite fine and this just weighed it down. The smell is also very strong and to me its overpowering, a sickly strawberry scent. It did provide a shine to my hair but because it is so sticky and heavy would only suit a very straight and sleek style. Will not buy again, have only used twice, will either throw away or pass on to someone else. At this price I was pretty disappointed

Eye Shadow -Coastal Scents - 88 color matte palette
rated 3 of 5
Sianreya 7/26/2010 6:48:00 AM

I bought this palette from the Coastal Scents website, I wish I hadn't now because the postage was seriously ridiculous. I really enjoy the palette, there are a pretty good range of colours, most with amazing pigmentation. For someone like me who is just starting out with makeup and experimenting with looks it is amazing. None of the colours are particularly beautiful, but I know that if I find a colour I enjoy I can then go out and buy one of better quality. The pots are really small, the entire palette is so much smaller than it looks in photo's or on you-tube video's. But the smallest amount of colour really does go a long way with minimal fallout. I get a little freaked out by the horrible ingredients and always make sure that I am wearing a tonne of primer or that my paintpot is covering every inch of my lid in order to minimise shadow to skin contact. I think I am impressed overall, I got what a paid for. Its not really a crazy cheap deal, it's a pretty reasonable price for the quality. The packaging gets one lippy though, the actual palette is flimsy at best.

Lips -Nivea - Lip Care
rated 3 of 5
Sianreya 7/26/2010 6:39:00 AM

I have this in dark blue, I have also tried it in the pearl shine but hated it, horrible rough texture from the glitter, un-hyrdating and a weird frosty colour that didn't suit me at all. The dark blue one however, it pretty much just feels like a stick of vaseline and I'm not too sure that it isn't really just that. It leaves me lips super hydrated and smooth, but it only lasts for half an hour or so and then needs to be reapplied. Your lips also feel insanely dry once it wears off. I do like the hydrated feeling, and how its smooth, translucent and shiny without being sticky. I imagine the cherry tinted ones would be gorgeous. It was a little more expensive then I feel it should be. Between 6 and 8 dollars at the supermarkets here in Australia. I like it, but don't feel its worth that price, I'll keep looking for my HG lipbalm

Lotions/ Creams -Nivea - Nivea Creme
rated 4 of 5
Sianreya 7/26/2010 5:21:00 AM

I love this stuff. Classic staple. Here in Australia we get the german version in our drugstores, I have noticed several reviews saying that the German version is better because it doesn't have Mineral oil? It totally does, its actually the second ingredient. I'm assuming that it is actually other chemicals that the mexican one contains. This cream is super thick, too thick for every day use as I have only just turned 20 and my skin doesn't need that much moisturising power yet ;) But on cold days that turn my skin red raw and chapped, this is a god send

Eye Shadow -MAC - Paint Pot in Painterly
rated 3 of 5
Sianreya 7/26/2010 4:57:00 AM

Hmm, I had heard rave reviews about this as a base and so bought it for that purpose. Pretty disappointed with that. Definitely doesn't stop creasing but does keep the colour on. It is a beautiful colour and I really like the packaging, such a cute little pot. To me it is too heavy to be applied well with a brush and fingers seem to be the only thing that can properly smooth it onto the eyelids. I might try other colours, but this time I wasn't too happy with it, perhaps my expectations for it as a base were unrealistic, not sure. But still, I feel their are cream shadows with a much nicer consistency and finish out there. Don't believe the hype. Make sure to try it out first.

Misc Beauty Tools -MAC - Brush Cleanser
rated 5 of 5
Sianreya 7/26/2010 4:49:00 AM

Fast drying, removes the colour, but doesn't leave my brushes feeling as clean as baby shampoo. I deep clean my brushes every two days and I don't think I would be happy to only use this instead but it is perfect for spot cleaning in between colours and when I'm just too lazy or rushed to wash them properly Like everyone else I really wish this came with a pump, tipping it directly onto the brush seems to waste so much product. I havent been able to pick up a pump yet, so for now i have just been tipping the tiniest amounts into a cup and lightly swirling my brushes in it. A little bit expensive here in Australia, $20 a bottle, but I have never seen brush cleanser anywhere else here and as a spot cleaner it is perfect.

Polishes -Sally Hansen - Hard as Nails with Nylon nail polish
rated 2 of 5
Sianreya 7/26/2010 4:22:00 AM

Hmm, I bought this in clear. Not amazed, definitely don't buy if you think it will harden your nails. After more than one coat this polish becomes quite tacky and does chip off after about 3 days. A really matte finish, no shine which was also dissapointing

Blush -MAC - Mineralize Blush - Dainty
rated 5 of 5
Sianreya 7/26/2010 4:13:00 AM

Just beautiful. Light, light gold shimmer. So buildable, can go from a natural, alive flush to a striking barbie pink. From the moment the MAC SA swept this on I was in love. Pretty exxy here in Australia though, $43 from Myers. Worth it though, my HG blush and would suit all skin types/colours

Concealers -MAC - Studio Finish Concealer
rated 3 of 5
Sianreya 7/26/2010 4:10:00 AM

I asked the MUA for a concealer to cover blemishes and this is what she recommended, but left me with stern warnings not to use under my eyes. I want to love this. I can see how good it is, I imagine it will cover pretty much anything. But I warn those with dry skin like me away. This is just too heavy and clings to the dry flaky patches like mad. Making them so, so noticeable. I can see why this would be perfect for so many others though and so haven't rated it to harshly. Also seems to work best when applied with fingers???

Makeup Brushes -MAC - #217 Blending
rated 5 of 5
Sianreya 7/26/2010 4:07:00 AM

I consider this and the 239 to be absolute essentials. Every time I use this brush I fall just that little bit more in love with it. Crazy soft, no shedding despite deep cleaning it every second day. Blends like a dream. Gently sweeps just the right amount of highlight onto my brow, and as I've recently discovered, is a pretty damn amazing crease brush. Love, can't recommend more, Very exxy here in Australia (Just under $50 from Myers) but worth it!

Makeup Brushes -MAC - # 239 Eye Shader Brush
rated 5 of 5
Sianreya 7/26/2010 4:04:00 AM

Love, love, love. A classic, essential brush. Picks up and packs on colour like nothing else. Lovely and soft, no shedding despite the fact that I deep clean with baby shampoo every second day and wipe with MAC brush cleanser between colours. Love enough to buy a second for diff colours. Super expensive here in Australia ($48 from Myer) but so, so worth it.
