So I am acne prone on my face and purchased for that. Overall I was underwhelmed using it on my face. Maybe it helped, maybe it didnt, but I didn't see enough of a result. It sat on my counter and got used for various things. My husband had a weird rash thing and he used it on that, and it really helped clear it up! (TMI?) But, the big news for me is what it did for my legs. I hate hate hate the visible hair follicles/pores on my legs. It's truly a bummer for me - especially since I dedicate so much of my time to hair removal (waxing primarily)! So I decided to try this stuff on my legs last night - and WOW! It really worked. That's right ladies - for all of you who struggle with leg pores (many of you do) this will really tone down the visibility of the pores. I am thrilled that this cleared them up 80% for me overnight - and I will keep using it for that!!!

Fragrances -Fresh - Hesperides

Blech. I have no idea why I bought this - in the store it had a great scent. By the time I got it home and wore it a few days I realized what a mistake I had made. I thought about it for a while and it smells EXACTLY like scrubbing bubbles - the automatic shower cleaner. Obviously I don't mind the scent in the shower, but not on me. It didn't last that long and made my hubby gag. Thank god for Sephora's return policy.

Fragrances -Demeter - Dirt Pick Me Up Spray

It. Smells. Like. Dirt. I wear perfume so as not to smell dirty. Totally nasty, but at least it smells like the real thing. Why on earth would anyone walk around wanting to smell like this?

Eye Shadow -Bare Escentuals - Giggle Glimpse
rated 3 of 5
Shmabby 11/5/2006 8:43:00 PM

It's a nice neutral color, but nothing to write home about. If you need a color like this one (described in the review below) then it would be great, but it's just not something I reach for.

Eye Shadow -Bare Escentuals - Glimmer in Nude Beach
rated 3 of 5
Shmabby 11/5/2006 8:31:00 PM

It's ok but not the greatest thing that ever happened to my eye lids. I really wanted to like it but I find that it is too shimmery and difficult to use. Others said it gave them a nice golden color but on me it's a little to silver. I find that I really have to blend to use it, and normally I like to just use one shadow on my lids as an all over color and this one doesn't do the trick for me. Someone sent me a sample so I'll keep it for occasional use but overall, meh. I prefer MAC's vanilla piggie to this.

Brows -Isadora - Color and Shape Eye Brow Gel
rated 5 of 5
Shmabby 10/29/2006 8:25:00 AM

I use this in clear and I think it's great - I've been looking for something for my unruly brows for a long time (in drugstores) and then stumbled across this. I normally fill my brows in with a pencil so I have no need for the tinted one. My only complaint is that although there is still product in there (quite a bit) it feels like it's drying out. Then again, it still works and for this price I don't mind buying it more often if needed.

Mascara -Cover Girl - Lash Exact
rated 5 of 5
Shmabby 10/22/2006 2:54:00 PM

Oh my goodness, I thought it would never happen but it did - I think I've just found my HG of drugstore mascaras. I have always been the biggest mascara whore, I never stay loyal to one brand. I guess the only ones I've really come back to are l'oreal voluminous and maybeline full 'n soft. I wasn't sure if the impact of this mascara was a result of the mascara itself or b/c of the fact that I had started using Taikila Lipocils (Can't spell, too lazy to look it up). But then I tried going back to the full 'n soft and the effect wasn't nearly the same. I have to use a lot less mascara to get the same effect, it lengthens fantastically, and doesn't clump. In fact, I actually have to take it easy because otherwise it makes my lashes so long it's almost embarassing! I am a true convert - plus, the package is super cute. My only complaint is that is slightly flakes by the very end of the day, so I might see if they have a waterproof version. Normally the flaking would have me throw it out, but it's minimal and the benefits far outweight the costs. LOVE IT LOVE IT LOVE IT!

Eyeliner -Stila - Stila Smudge Pots in Gray
rated 5 of 5
Shmabby 10/15/2006 8:10:00 PM

I'm actually pretty pleased with this product. It's my first smudge pot and the MA (if she can be called that) suggested that I get gray to make it more neutral. At first, I asked her to show me how to use it and she proceeded to smear really thick nasty dark lines on my lids. I was SHOCKED- what gives lady? Don't put makeup on people for pete's sakes! Anyways, I was pleased with how I could use it myself. It beats using a regular liquid liner b/c I have more control and less chances for smearing. It beats using a wet powder b/c it is less time consuming for me (wet brush, dab, wet brush, etc). I use an ultra thin angled brush and gently press it into my lash line. This way I am able to get a nice thin line which looks much more natural than what the girl did at sephora, but also gives me great definition. I found that the liner lasts pretty long as well which I was impressed about. One thing I'd suggest is to make sure you wipe off the brush on some tissue after use b/c otherwise it hardens and will jab the smudge pot and waste product. Overall, I like it but might exchange for black.

Mascara -Talika - Lipocils
rated 5 of 5
Shmabby 10/10/2006 10:33:00 AM

Wowza - that is all I can say about this product. I absolutely LOVE LOVE LOVE it. I used a sephora credit to buy this because otherwise it's just too painful to shell out the cash, but I might when my tube runs out because I think it's so fantastic. I have long, thin, blonde lashes. I just wanted to beef them up - I normally have to wear a lot of mascara to get the thick look I want. Well I've been using this faithfully for 2-3 weeks and I've seen a major difference. My lashes are longer and becoming super-thick. They might be getting darker but I'm not sure - it just might be thicker. Now when I apply my mascara I use much less and my lashes are so long they almost look fake - I have to be careful with the amount of mascara I'm using!! I apply this morning and night, and I use it first like a regular mascara, then I apply it to the tops of the lashes, and then I run the tip along my lash base to make sure it reaches there. If I could afford it I would buy the brow lipocils to put on the base, but in the meantime this will do. I can't say I've noticed that more lashes are growing in, but I didn't have any bald spots to begin with. If I notice more lashes growing in I'll be sure to update. In the meantime - this will be a staple in my face routine!!

Moisturizers -Desert Essence - Jojoba Oil - 100% pure
rated 5 of 5
Shmabby 10/4/2006 10:50:00 PM

I tried this with a variety of products. I add a few drops to my shampoo, a few drops to my conditioner, perhaps a few drops as a leave-in - whenever I remember. I tried this a few times on my face - I would rub this all over my face before I washed it, and then wash it off with a gentle cleanser and leave it at that. It did leave my skin feeling soft and didn't break me out (I am oily and acne prone) but I wasn't convinced that it was a miricle product. What I absolutely LOVE LOVE LOVE it for is my lips - it's fantabulous on my lips. I had some lip gloss thing in one of those little roller bottles - I emptied it out and put some oil in there instead. It leaves my lips so silky smooth and looks great too - got a great shine. Based purely on this I would repurchase if I needed to, and will continue to experiment with it on my face and in my hair to find the perfect match. Not a miricle - but a great find. **UPDATE: I have started using this in my face routine and it is truly fantastic. I can see quite a difference when I use this on my face - it's great. I either use it to wash my face or use a few drops under my eye cream/alpha hydroxy/retin-a and it makes me really glowly in the morning. Love it - def. a staple in my skin care routine!

Polishes -Chanel - Black Satin
rated 3 of 5
Shmabby 10/4/2006 10:43:00 PM

Maybe I'm not that cool or that hot but I don't really like this trend. Rather, it's okay but I wouldn't bother trying to pull it off. I went to my friend's house (she is their national make-up artist so she has it all). She told me that the bottles were flying off the shelves at the Chanel boutique. I looked at the polish on her toes, and on her 15 year old daughter's fingers - I couldn't see any shimmer. I guess it's a great color if you're super cool and somewhat punk, but I can't see this being useful in an office setting. The good thing about this polish is that one coat is sufficent - and - as all Chanel Polishes - will last for a really long time. For that extra punkness it even looks cool once its chipped off. For me, my take on the dark fall colors is more of a rouge noir - I just feel more comfortable in that (plus, my friend had that bottle to give me, she didn't have any extra black satins lying around).

Skincare - Face -Dr. Brandt - Poreless Tone
rated 1 of 5
Shmabby 9/26/2006 12:15:00 AM

This is really nothing special. It's which hazel with some sayicilic acid - big friggin' deal - that's practically every toner on the market right now. I also noticed that when I used it nothing came off on the cotton pad, which made me wonder if the cleanser was super effective (it wasn't) or if this was super ineffective. Blah.

Cleansers -Dr. Brandt - Poreless Cleanser
rated 2 of 5
Shmabby 9/26/2006 12:12:00 AM

The Pros: I liked the smell, it reminded me of shaving cream that men use when they have to whip it up into a lather with a brush. It also did not over dry my skin or make me break out. The Cons: It did nothing else. The ingredients are nothing special, the same thing can be found in a million other products for a fraction of the price. Also - it was not that easy to get product out of the bottle (even though it was cute enough). Not worth purchasing - and I was not poreless after using it!

Skincare - Face -Dr. Brandt - Pore Effect
rated 3 of 5
Shmabby 9/26/2006 12:09:00 AM

I know you're supposed to give things a longer time to work, but I used this with the poreless kit for one week - it did nothing - I returned it. My face did not react in a good or bad way, and it seemed worse with the poreless kit. This was my favourite product out of the kit, it felt nice going on and not a lot was needed. My face did look brighter in the morning, but I did wake up every morning with a few small surface whiteheads. My blackheads were worse after a week of using this compared to 8 or 12% Glycolic Acid I normally throw on my face at night (and I still have blackheads). It was okay but nothing I'd repurchase - especially for that price.

Lipstick -Stila - Lip Rouge- Smooch
rated 2 of 5
Shmabby 9/26/2006 12:04:00 AM

You know, when I asked the sales girl at Sephora which lip stain was the best I should have listened to my gut. My gut said "Gawd look at her lipstick, do I really want to be taking advice from this person?" So when she told me this one was the best - I listened although I knew better. Thank god for return policies is all I can say with this product. Ok, it's not completely terrible - if you put on a balm and use this very sparingly and blend as quickly as possible then you might get a somewhat decent color. The marker makes it impossible to apply evenly, it dries super fast, it doesn't seem to last too long, and oh yeah, the color is icky. The only reason I gave this 2 lippies is because it was somewhat wearable with the above mentioned method. I'm returning this tomorrow and trying Vincent Longo!
