Styling Products -Got 2 Be - POWDER'ful Volumizing Styling Powder
Shizuku2 5/9/2013 11:10:00 AM
This is one of my HG hair products now. I'd never used a "hair powder" of any kind before this one, and it's cheap and readily available, so why not? Background info on my hair: I have pretty thick hair (strand-wise), but it's not very dense, it's about 3 inches past my shoulder, and it's also colored and highlighted with salt and pepper coming in. The texture can also be described as "puffy" at times (high humidity). Because my hair's not dense, it can look rather limp and flat all over. After using this powder, wow suddenly i have TONS of volume, and it lasts! Before, i'd use hair spray and a teasing comb for volume, now i don't even have to use either. Just sprinkle some of this in my hand or directly on roots, massage in and fluff up, and i'm good to go. Sure, it feels alittle stiff, but it's not as bad as when i used hair spray in my roots. I love this stuff, seriously, and am never without it now.

Blush -Pixi - Cheek Gel Blush
Shizuku2 3/11/2013 1:02:00 PM
I have this is "Natural", and that describes this blush perfectly. If you're wanting a completely natural looking flush to your cheeks (like after a nice workout), then this gives that. It's a very blendable and buildable formula, and comes in a nice hygienic tube so you can squeeze out just the amount you want. The tube is tiny, but a little goes a long way (it's pretty pigmented for a gel blush) and will last you a long time. It's kinda pricey for a drugstore blush (close to Clinique and MAC prices). One of the most amazing things about this gel blush is the staying power: I can put this on, with no primer underneath (only BB cream or foundation), and it lasts at least 10 hours. Love it.

Eye Primer -Wet 'n' Wild - Fergie Take on the Day Eyeshadow Primer
Shizuku2 2/14/2013 4:25:00 PM
If you have slightly crepey eyelids or mature eyes, this product is terrible and I would not recommend it. The pros: it's very cheap (paid like $5), easy to find (found it at Walgreens), and it does seem to prolong eyeshadow as long as it's only applied to just the lid (not the crease or under brow-bone). The cons: the packaging is weird in that once you open the container, the product keeps pumping out without any squeezing, plus the product also seperates and needs to be shaken each time (and this didn't happen to just me; i've read users on Youtube with the same problems). It doesn't even out skintone and it dries to transparency (although i don't believe that's in the description). And the biggest con: it really exaggerates eyelid crepey-ness. My eyelids are slightly crepey and for some reason, almost as soon as I apply this, it makes my eyes look much more wrinkly and older! I haven't used any of the other eye primers that this one has been compared to (the Too Faced and Urban Decay ones), and if they're similar i'm not sure I want to now. I will continue to use MAC Paint Pots as my eyelid primer, they're much creamier, don't exaggerate lines/crepey-ness, and do a wonderful job at evening out skintone and hiding discoloration.

Lip Liners -Jordana - Easyliner for Lips in Rock n' Rose
Shizuku2 1/21/2013 12:34:00 PM
Great lipliner: perfect container (retractable so you never have to sharpen it), long staying power, creamy, super cheap and readily available (every Walgreens carries it), and the color "Rock N Rose" is the perfect mlbb color. My previous favorites were MAC Spice (but has become to orange over the years), then Wet N Wild 666 (but it's deeper than Rock N Rose, it's alot drier and tugs on your lips, plus it needs to constantly be resharpened). I've always chosen lipliners that match my lips because I don't usually wear bright lip colors but emphasize my eyes more. Love it :)

Eye Shadow -Wet 'n' Wild - Color Icon Trio - Walking on Eggshells
Shizuku2 1/20/2013 7:14:00 PM
Pretty much my go-to HG trio for an everyday neutral look. For such an unbelieveable price point, these eye shadows are amazing: smooth, buttery, velvety, very pigmented and with a primer (currently I use MAC paint pot in Soft Ochre), these last all day. The colors look pretty average in the palette, but on the eye, they almost seem to glow from within. All three colors are shimmery, but not glittery, and even on my crepey eyes, they're perfect. Contrary to most reviews, my favorite is the middle crease color, which looks like a basic medium/dark brown in the pan, but on my eyelid it becomes a gorgeous coppery/bronze color. I have dark brown hair and hazel eyes, and this color looks amazing on my eyes, really bringing out the color. I bet it would look even more amazing on blue or green eyes. Paired with a coppery brown liner (I used Flirt! Brownie Points), just the brown crease color on my lid, black mascara, and it looks amazing. Probably my only con would be the packaging; sometimes it's hard to open it, and i usually end up dropping one of the little brushes. Small price to pay for such an amazing trio though, love it :)

BB Cream -Skin79 - Super+ BB Cream Pink Label
Shizuku2 12/13/2012 6:26:00 PM
This is a great BB cream. For reference, i'm half Korean, with combination skin (more dry than oily though), with fine lines and age spots and small areas of melasma. I've never worn foundation because: (1) I hated the mask-like feeling of it and (2) I could never find a color match because of my weird skin tone (half Asian/caucasian). But as i've gotten older, I noticed the discoloration in my face was making me look older. This BB cream does a good job at evening out my skintone. It comes out of the bottle kinda gray, and once it oxidizes (couple of minutes later), it starts to match my skin. And it looks natural even in stark, outdoor natural lighting. The finish is almost matte, and slightly tacky. The color is buildable, which you'll need if you want to even out trouble areas (in my case, around my mouth/chin and upper cheeks). I wouldn't say it gives as much coverage as medium-coverage foundation, but it definitely gives more coverage than a regular tinted moisturizer, and as much/equal to a sheer-light coverage foundation. It supposedly has "whitening" effects, but i've yet to see those, and it does have spf 25, which is nice. It has a slight floral scent, it's not totally offensive to me and fades after awhile, but at first can be alittle much at first. It's great to slap on for a casual day-to-day look when you want to even out your skin tone (i'll usually just use it without any concealer and it does a good job at covering up imperfections, mostly age spots and redness in areas in my case). *later note* One nice thing I found out is that it can also be used as an eyelid primer! If you have dry, crepey eyelids like i do, alot of other eyeshadow primers can exaggerate the crepeyness. This doesn't, plus it evens out the upper eye area/eyelid (i have discoloration there as well). And it makes my shadows last for hours.

Primer/ Corrector -Philosophy - Never Let Them See You Shine
Shizuku2 6/2/2011 2:24:00 PM
A very basic, under-performing primer. First thing you'll notice: it has a very medicated smell, almost like Ben Gay or something. Luckily, the smell doesn't linger for very long on your face. The texture is also more runny than i'd expect from a primer. Even though you'd expect it to eliminate shine on your face, it didn't seem to do a better job than any other primer. Also, it says it provides a "smooth, velvety, matte finish to the skin", but i didn't notice this to be true. I find that the Monistat Chafing relief Powder Gel to be much better as a primer in all aspects. The only thing that's better is that this one has antioxidants in it (ginger root, ginseng root, lavender oil, etc), so it's better for your skin. It didn't make me break out (but most things don't), and it did seem to keep my makeup on all day (like most primers). Overall, i still like Monistat better and it's like half the price of this, and you get more. Plus, the Monistat really does make your skin feel velvety soft and smooth.

Eyeliner -Lancome - Le Crayon Kohl
Shizuku2 6/1/2011 2:29:00 PM
I got this in Black Lapis, which is a kinda dark turquoise, and it's a beautiful color. The actual pencil itself is also very solid and sturdy, and when sharpened really holds but isn't too stiff and is easy to apply and goes on very smoothly. But, and this is the reason i gave it such few lippies, is that it has horrible staying power, and smudges like crazy, which is one of the main factors to me whether an eyeliner is quality or not. It's a shame really, because I really wanted to like this.

Treatments -John Frieda - Luminous Color Glaze
Shizuku2 5/29/2011 7:46:00 PM
I got this in the clear glaze, and it didn't make my hair any shinier than before. Actually, it didn't do a single thing to my hair other than make it smell nice (the smell is the nicest aspect of this). I didn't notice any extra shine, or softness, anything. Granted, it didn't have any negative effects either (drying, etc). Will not be repurchasing.

Lips -Cover Girl - Outlast Lipstain
Shizuku2 5/28/2011 9:48:00 AM
Horrible product. Like others have mentioned, it dried up on my literally after about 2 weeks and i wasn't even using it that much, now i can't even get any out. Plus, the actual product dried my lips out and made them flaky, and it tastes like vitamin C or something (which i guess isn't that bad).

Concealers -BeneFit Cosmetics - Erase paste
Shizuku2 5/28/2011 9:42:00 AM
I wanted to like Erase Paste, especially after all the great reviews. Unfortunately, the main problems i had with it were the staying power and color. It doesn't seem to last more than an hour or so on me before whatever i'm concealing starts showing through, thus i have to reapply (and this is with a primer on underneath). Also, the tone that's closest to my skin tone is too pink. I'm half Asian, and have yellowish/olive undertones, and this color just doesn't work on my skin. It's pretty expensive for concealer. Lastly, i'm not sure if I got a bad batch, but the product seems to seperate once it's on my skin (my skin is dry in my eye area), and looks terrible.

Sunscreen -La Roche Posay - Anthelios XL Face Fluid TINTED SPF 50+
Shizuku2 4/25/2011 7:42:00 PM
My HG sunscreen. I've been using U.S. sunscreens for half my life, not realizing the European ones were this amazing. Honestly, I'm still having trouble believing it's actually working! The reason being, this is so fluid, sinks into your skin so effortlessly, leaves a hint of color, and literally feels like you have absolutely nothing on your face. I'm so used to the thick, cloying, and white-cast sheen of U.S. sunscreens. The fact that it has a PPD of 34 and an spf of 50 is amazing to me as well, because then you have both aspects covered (spf covers sunburn, whereas ppd covers the aging aspects of sun exposure). There is absolutely no "white sheen" you get from many physical sunscreens (my biggest pet peeve w/sunscreens). The tint is actually enough that it covers some imperfections (in my case at least), meaning i can wear less concealer, and it gives me just enough color. The only downside is the color is pretty dark, almost too dark in my opinon.I'd say it's just a step below tinted moisturizer. It dries almost instantly to a perfectly dewy texture. I love this sunscreen.

Fragrances -Unlisted Brand - Claire's- Angel Rocker Perfume
Shizuku2 4/22/2011 10:45:00 PM
Pretty sure this is a dupe of Aquolina's Pink Sugar (although from the name and the bottle shape, I think they were trying to make a dupe of Thierry Mugler's Angel). When I let my boyfriend smell this on me, he thought it was Pink Sugar (his favorite scent on me). A gourmand scent, it's reminiscent of candy, flowers, something light and sweet, very girly. I love the bottle, a transparent glass pink star shape. Pink Sugar has a "burnt caramel" note to my nose, whereas I think Angel Rocker has more of a maple syrup undertone. It also seems to have more of a floral scent to it as well. I think if someone liked Pink Sugar but wanted something alittle less "sweet", they'd love this scent. It seems to have great lasting power as well (sprayed it on in the evening, could still smell it on me the next day). The dry-down is the best part in my opinion; it smells like vanilla, chocolate, and strangely, coconut.

Fragrances -Aquolina - Chocolovers EDT
Shizuku2 4/18/2011 12:56:00 PM
Awful fragrance, and honestly i'm annoyed they called it "Chocolovers".I have to agree with the user "unchu" below, it does smell like something medicated on me. Someone else said it smells like Lemon Pledge, and i'd have to agree with that too. It's just something about it that smells weird to me, and i hate to sound overdramatic but it almost smells like bug spray on me! After about an hour the smell gave me a headache, and that never happens. I can see why it was discontinued (sorry for the people that like it). The bottle is adorable though (the only thing I liked; clear glass with red hearts and lid). The citrus-spicy smell totally overpowers the chocolate scent on me, which is a shame. You can get a slight whiff of chocolate/vanilla in passing, but up close it's a definite citrus-y/medicated smell. Pink Sugar smells much, much better, and is a better gourmand scent than this one. Pink Sugar smells sweeter, whereas I would describe Chocolovers as more spicy, and by spicy i'd say it smells like black pepper eww (a good spicy/warm scent is Casmir by Chopard). Actually, if you want a chocolate scent, Serendipitous by Serendipity3 is my favorite (doesn't have great lasting power though, unfortunately). Giving this to my sister, hopefully it will work better on her.
