I heard good things about how this product can lighten dishwater blonde hair to a light blonde. My natural color is light brown/dark blonde so I thought I had a good chance at getting some kind of blonde color, but after trying it twice, leaving it on for an hour each time, I only ended up with a light orange and had to go buy real bleach and developer instead. I wouldn't recommend this to anyone who isn't already at least a medium blonde.
This product was AMAZING. Ive been trying to get my dyed black hair back to blonde for some time now, but after several bleachings with Kaleidacolor bleach I was only able to get it to a dark orange. So I put a dark blonde demi-permanent hair dye on it to make it look somewhat natural while I gave my hair a rest, and 2 weeks later I bought a box of the Clairol Born Blonde Maxi. It was only on about 3 minutes before it started lifting my hair from orange to yellow! An hour later I rinsed it out and it was a pale yellow, perfect for toning it to platinum. And the amazing thing was that it didn't burn my scalp at any point, even though it was sitting on my scalp in many places the whole time. The only drawback to this dye was the smell/fumes. I was doing it in my room with the door and window open, and after I mixed all the ingredients I literally had to leave the room to get some fresh air before I continued. This could have to do with the fact though that I poured everything into a plastic tupperware and mixed it with a brush, rather than using the squeeze bottle. It's easier for me to apply it that way. My hair was fried on the ends before I used this, and even though it was left on for an hour and lifted my hair several shades it hasn't really affection the condition of it. I would definitely recommend this stuff to anyone who has medium brown hair at the darkest. Its powerful and won't destroy your hair =)
