Lotions/ Creams -The Body Shop - Hemp Hand Protector
Sheneedsacure 1/10/2012 2:53:00 PM
Type of hands: Normal to dry (after washing) Pros: -little goes a long way -absorbs fast for a thick cream -don't need to reapply every 30 minutes Cons -earthy smell is not too feminine (i still like it) -tube is huge and not great looking I've tried a couple different hand creams...the handy gurugu by lush and your typical aveeno, lubriderm, baby lotion, bath n body works, crabtree & evelyn and I honestly feel like this one is the BEST one yet. I apply it on my hands 3 times a day, once before sleeping and once upon waking up. Then later in the middle of the day. Because the tube is so big and bulky I squirt a little bit of it out in a sample tub that you can get from TBS and keep it in my purse. The smell is not foul...I mean after all it is called HEMP hand protector. Bottom line: if you have dry hands and do not want a super fragrant cream which you have to apply 6x day then get this because it works..with less quantity...and in less time.

Lips -The Body Shop - Lip & Cheek Stain
Sheneedsacure 1/10/2012 2:38:00 PM
I. Love. This. Product. I am of southasian descent so my skin is olive-medium with some yellow undertones. I use this on my lips and it looks sooo great. It provides a nice rosy hue and when topped with clear chapstick and kept on for a few minutes it looks extremely natural. I have tried to use it on my cheeks but have not been as successful with it because it doesn't look too bright on my complexion. Perhaps because I'm afraid of putting on too much at once so I'm light-handed with it. It doesn't matter...I just replenished my stock even though the first 1 is not out but The Body Shop had a BOGO sale. I always wanted the Benefit Benetint but figured I would try out this before investing in an expensive product like that...well....to me I don't even care to switch over. This, mac studiofix concealer, kohl eyeliner, and mascara...and that's all I need to survive!

Scrubs -Queen Helene - Mint Julep Natural Facial Scrub
Sheneedsacure 1/10/2012 2:32:00 PM
I had hormonal acne that started around 21 years of age (never had bad acne as a teenager) and it has resolved/remained under control at age 24 now. After spending at least a couple thousand dollars on treatments I was able to combat it with birth control (yaz) and really good facials/chemical peels. At this stage in life my skin is uneven in tone but smooth and without active pimples. I picked this product up on a whim from a drugstore. I have experience with the masque. It works great on drying active pimples. So the first time I used this scrub in the shower I absolutely loved it. It resembles some costly products in its effectivity because it's granules are fine and not abrasive. It leaves your skin feeling soft and exfoliated. Your skin will glow afterwards. I can't say that it will work for you because everyone's skin is different...but if you have normal/oily skin that is not high maintenance but can benefit from a good buffing once a week then I would recommend this product. I will definitely continue to use it...even my husband is hooked!

Powder -Bare Escentuals - Bare Minerals ALL
Sheneedsacure 4/25/2011 1:32:00 PM
My journey with BareMinerals has been a long one. My need for make up started a couple years ago when my body decided to attack itself and I started breaking out like crazy. Leaving me with delightful blemishes. Anyway, I just felt more comfortable with a product on my face to even out my tone, but not too caked up to where it was "obvious" I was wearing make up. This does the trick. It doesn't have intense coverage, but it gives you a nice sheen. I got a sample of the matte finish, and I like it. My skin is medium tan, and it works for me. I don't break out from me, but then again I don't have oily skin. I wash my face twice a day and usually wear it most days out of the week. I hate the packaging though. It is sooo messy. I hope they invent a new way to have it already in the brush or something. I'll be buying it again though, for sure. Try it. P.S. Glee is a great blush for Medium and Medium Tan skin tones. Mineral Veil is great all around!

Skincare - Face -Pro Activ - 3-Step System

HATE. I used this product a few years ago when I was 19-20 as a possible cure for my out-of-nowhere-acne-attack. Let's just say it's a big sham. It make my break outs worst...and introduced me to another monster: cystic acne. I applied the formula religiously, the cleanser, the toner, the moisturizer. But the cheap bottles, and their hideous smell were for nothing. Not to mention they're tricky methods of charging you and sending you bottles so frequently. Thanks to my lazy nature, I had 4 extra boxes under my bed. I wouldn't recommend this to any poor soul. Save yourself. It sucks!

Mascara -Maybelline - Full 'N Soft Mascara
Sheneedsacure 4/25/2011 1:25:00 PM
Ok ok, I know the product has RAVE reviews. But for some reason, it just didn't do it for me. Maybe because I like the look of thick, full lashes...or because I accidentally bought the wrong color (Brownish Black)...I don't know. I have naturally long but thin lashes. I was hoping this would be a product that I could apply on days where I felt like I wanted brighter eyes, but not going overboard. Unfortunately...this is a little too underboard for me. I'll stick with the voluminous variety. They have more of an effect than this. The upside is that it doesn't leave your lashes crispy and it comes off easily.

I've gone through about a BAJILLION chapsticks in my life. From lipsmackers to soft lips to ChapStick to BurtsBees and this is by far the best! Now you're probably wondering...how good can a chapstick really be? Well, realistically it does it's job. My lips get dry frequently and upon applying this (a few times a day) they soften up immediately..and get this...they stay soft! What a concept. I would totally recommend this. It lasts forever. As soon as I run out, I'm going to get another one from this line to try it out. It'll work, trust me.

Cleansers -Cetaphil - Gentle Skin Cleanser
Sheneedsacure 4/25/2011 12:58:00 PM
I use this with my Clarisonic Pro daily in the shower and once before I sleep. Love it. My dermatologist prescribed it to me a long time ago when I was on differin and antibiotics. I've come a long way from then (thank god) and now have a clear face to show for it. This is the perfect gentle cleanser for a light skin care regimen. Don't expect it to get extremely sudsy, or to have a chemical-y clean feel after using it (like you do with clean & clear products). This is just a simple, but effective face wash for all types of skin. Layer on your spot treatments, masks, and prescription meds after clearing your face with this stuff.

Lotions/ Creams -LUSH - Handy gurugu
Sheneedsacure 4/25/2011 12:54:00 PM
My hands aren't extremely dry, but I prefer for them to be extremely soft. I'm always on a hunt for a great hand mositurizer but I haven't really found my HG. The girl at the counter raved about how health professionals preferred this one because it's great even after multiple hand washes. Umm, no. It's just a light-weight moisturizer that's perfect for a little while. It isn't greasy and it absorbs fast but it doesn't make a noticable difference in my hands over time. I won't be buying it again. The search continues...

Conditioner -LUSH - R&B Revive & Balance Hair Moisturizer
Sheneedsacure 4/25/2011 12:51:00 PM
So I have really thin, frail, and dry hair. I'm always looking for HG-esque products to help me bring my hair to life. This product definitely smells great...my husband always notices on the days I put it on. Also, a little bit definitely goes a long way, especially for thin hair. But I haven't seen any sort of difference (even minute) in my hair. It may make it soft and workable for a little while, but there is a fine line between soft and greasy. Sometimes it weighs it down. I feel like R & B is not the best product for thin hair. So I will not buy it again. Hope you have better luck with it than me!

Scrubs -LUSH - Buffy the Backside Slayer
Sheneedsacure 4/25/2011 12:47:00 PM
I don't understand why this product has so many negative reviews. I love it!! It is a great exfoliator and leaves your skin ULTRA soft. I can't imagine putting lotion on after using this. You really don't need to. I don't use it too much because it is pretty abrasive...and expensive (it runs out fast). I got the smaller bar because it was my first time sampling it. But when I'm done with this, I'll go back for the bigger one. I get a lot of ingrowns on my legs, so this is great for that. It helps those hairs come to the surface so I can remove them. The packaging is not the greatest...but it is a bar after all. I keep it in a bowl away from the shower, for fear it will melt away. However people, don't use this as a soap...use it AFTER your soap.

Scrubs -LUSH - Ocean Salt
Sheneedsacure 4/25/2011 12:43:00 PM
I am a big fan of Lush products, even though they cost me an arm and a leg. I use Ocean Salt on my face and body. I even use it on my lips sometimes! I love the refreshing smell, and how clean it leaves you feeling. It's a good light exfoliator to use every other day or 3 times a week, imo. You have to make sure to mix it periodically because the sea salt sinks to the bottom and that's the good stuff. I recommend cleansing your face, then exfoliating it with ocean salt, and then moisturizing. This has a toner in it. So don't put too many chemicals on your face afterwards. Overall, I haven't found anything comparable to it in quality yet.
