Cleansers -Soap and Glory - Peaches And Clean Wash-Off Deep Cleansing Milk
Shazzer1976 1/31/2013 4:10:00 PM
I am pleasantly surprised by this product. I love all the packaging that Soap and Glory make but I was a little wary that it might be style over substance with this brand. I have quite sensitive skin and other 'deep cleansers' have been little more than painstripper on my skin. This has done a great job of clearing up my T-zone and not stripping my skin of what little moisture it has. I also noticed that my monthly breakout was not as severe as it usually is and did not last as long. It's a shame that this is not recommended for removing eyemakeup and you do get some residue at the bottom of the bottle that never gets used up. Pity to waste such a good product.
I like this. It is very pleasant and actually stirs up quite a few memories. It reminds me of swimming lessons in primary school when all the girls got Coconut shower gel for Christmas. I loved that smell. It also reminds me of sunny beach holidays spent with my family as a child, in particular the one where I got roasted on the beach in Alcudia. I became devout in my application of suntan lotion after that, especially the coconut scented ones. More an up close and personal type of fragrance - so personal other people might not realise you are actually wearing a scent! It seems to fade quickly on me. I still prefer the original Sensuous. I might try the bustier more dangerous Sensuous Noir next.
Styling Products -Unlisted Brand - Milk Shake - Glistening Milk No Frizz
Shazzer1976 1/28/2013 1:46:00 PM
I have very curly, dry, frizz prone hair so I was dubious about this product. I love how shiney and frizz free my hair has stayed when I use this, I just cannot stand the smell! Too sweet and sickening...
Great Neutral blush. Good lasting power. Love this when I am wearing a bright lip (say, red) and want to keep the rest of my makeup refined and understated. Great for adding a hint of colour. The packaging is lovely - a good sized compact with a mirror and brush for touch ups during the day, should the need arise.
Eye Makeup Remover -Boots - Botanics Soothing Eye Makeup Remover
Shazzer1976 1/13/2013 10:13:00 AM
I have only used this a few times but I was impressed from the outset. It is a reformulation and re-packaging of the Botanics gentle eye makeup remover which I never tried so I can't compare. All I can say is how pleased I am with this product. It is excellent value, the packaging is lovely and, most importantly, it is very effective at removing eye makeup without dragging, stinging, drying or leaving an annoying film over your vision! It is partly oil based, partly water based with plant extracts claiming to contain natural AHAs. I can't comment on the AHAs, the concentration of them in the eyemakeup remover or their effect but it is a very reliable eyemakeup remover and suitable for my sensitive eyes.
Skincare - Body -The Body Shop - Shea Shower Cream
Shazzer1976 1/11/2013 4:25:00 PM
I received this as a gift at Christmas. This is more expensive than I would pay for a shower cream but it is lovely. My skin feels really soft after I have used it and extra soft when I use the body lotion after.
This review is based on only three days' wear so my opinion could change! After months of hearing how good this foundation is I finally caved and bought it. I bought it in shade 100 Ivory and am pleased with the match. This shade seems to be fairly neutral on me. I tend to find foundations run quite yellow on me. This foundation makes ambitious claims for itself. It will 'reawaken and illuminate skin with a radiant glow and a flawless natural-looking finish. Instnant anit-fatigue effect.' (I take it this is the replacement for the discontinued Anti-fatigue foundation I bought a few years ago and was not that impressed by.) So far I am very happy with this purchase. It gives very good coverage, especially when applied with a beauty blender sponge or foundation brush (I use the Boots No7 one). It manages to cover up my red blotches and even a couple of pimples I had on my chin. It does give my skin a lovely glow and without the horrible glittery bits that were in the older 'Anti-fatigue foundation'. As for lastiqng power, it is quite good. Not as long-lasting as EL DW, Revlon Color Stay or Mac Pro-Longwear but it is still quite good. I find it will last for most of the working day. It might wear off a little around the T-zone but a light dusting of powder soon fixes that and I noticed that when I applied it with my fingers it lasted the shortest amount of time. The packaging of this is very good. Nice glass bottle and a pump! (Why can't other companies do this? Come on Nars and EL!) You get the normal amount of foundation that you would get with other foundations - 30 mls or one fl oz. Price wise, this this retails at £8:99 but you can get it on offer at certain times of the year. It is not as pricey as Revlon CS or even the Boots No7 foundations. So far, so very good. A welcome pick me up for my dull winter skin.
Lipstick -Rimmel - Lasting Finish - Amethyst Shimmer
Shazzer1976 1/9/2013 6:53:00 PM
I broke my no buy for this and it was worth it! I notice this is a favourite with medium/olive/darker skintones but it works beautifully with my paler complexion. Somehow it really livens up my face. A great colour for the Autumn/Winter. I apply it full on, no dabbing for me! I got lots if compliments for it. Now for the not so good (but not disastrous!). I find this a little dragging when applying it. It lasts reasonably well but is quite drying when it wears off. Still not enough to put me off wearing it, repurchasing or recommending it to other people.
I Was lucky to receive this as a Christmas gift this year and it has been a bit of a hit with me. I love the blingy packaging but more importantly I love the warm snuggly spiced up scent. I was trying to understand the product name. To me it is the perfect Winter warmer scent - snuggled up infront of a blazing fire with your favourite cosy jumper on. Perfect for a Winter's day but it would do equally as well as an evening scent.
Bronzers -Estee Lauder - Bronze Goddess Soft Shimmer Bronzer
Shazzer1976 12/29/2012 5:33:00 AM
A clever Sales Assistant applied this to my cheeks when she was trialling the DW foundation on me. Very clever because I like it so much I went back a week later an bought it! I already own the Soft Matte Bronzer and love it. I have quite pale skin and find bronzers very tricky to get right, however I find these bronzers sheer enough to be able to add a subtle glow to my sometimes deathly palour. This is a shimmery bronzer, however so I would not use it all over! (Unless you like looking like a bronzed up Christmas tree fairy?) I use this on my cheeks when I am wearing a strong lip colour and want more of a neutral blush effect. I find it acts like a hightlighter as well (another product I struggle with!) and have used it on my decollete area to warm up my Winter snow glow white skin. It worked a treat. The packaging of this product is great - a very large compact with a very useful mirror and a nice brush for doing touch ups. My best recent purchase is all I can say. Worth the cost.
Fragrances -BeneFit Cosmetics - Laugh with Me LeeLee
Shazzer1976 12/29/2012 5:23:00 AM
I got this as part of a box set of BeneFit fragrances. i have to say, as with all BeneFit products, I love the packaging of this particular perfume. A very cute bottle and cute name. I can imagine this as the younger woman's scent, maybe someone in their 20s, but that does not stop me from enjoying it. A lovely frangrance for the Spring and a great daytime fragrance - equally suited for the workplace as for lunch with friends (acutally, why waste something as lovely as this at work?). Notes of Rose and Peony make it very feminine. This is not a screechy, attention grabbing floral but much more subtle. I am tempted to invest in a full sized bottle.
This is for the EdT rather than the EdP. This fragrance is not what I would normally choose for myself but was a present at Christmas along with the body lotion. It is a good day time fragrance and has quite an ethereal quality about it that I like. Notes of vanilla, peach and rose come to the fore on me and it has quite a powdery dry down. Bizarrely I find this almost old fashioned but timeless - again, I think ethereal. I can imagine the like of Luna Lovegood from Harry potter wearing it.
Eye Shadow -NYX - Glitter Cream Palette ~ Sweet Chocolate Brown
Shazzer1976 12/29/2012 5:09:00 AM
Why all the negativity? This is what it is. I couldn't resist this palette when I saw it in a local shop. I only use one colour at a time and smear it on with my finger. This is cheap and cheerful and not something I would wear all the time, obviously, but it was perfect for the party season. A complete change from my usual neutral eye look!
Toners -Nuxe - Toning Lotion with 3 Roses (Lotion Tonique aux 3 Roses)
Shazzer1976 7/8/2012 3:41:00 PM
A very mild toner - so mild it says it can even be used on the eyes! I put this to the test and it didn't sting. It suits my sensitive dry skin but it might be too mild for oilier skin types. Lovely!
I decided to use those £5 off vouchers to invest in some No.7 makeup vouchers and I haven't been disappointed. I bought this and the lip brush and have both of them to be very good. I love the quality of this. it was nice and fluffy when I opened it. I was reluctant to spoil it by dipping it in my foundation. It did a great job with my Clinique Even Better Foundation. It can be quite heavy when applied with a sponge and sometimes a little uneven when applied with fingers. This brush seems to take a small amount and make it go a little further. It is lovely and even and natural looking. I would recommend this as a very good DS/High Street foundation brush. Even better than the Eco Tools brush. (My hereto favourite.)
