Fragrances -Tokyo Milk - Dark Collection Tainted Love
rated 5 of 5
Shadow_Witch 6/17/2013 6:45:00 PM

Ordered it sight un-sniffed even though this combination of notes has been done to death. I read the negative reviews on another site and regretted it... until I received it today. Tainted Love is the perfume equivalent of high quality food prepared simply. It is a basic "meat and potatoes" vanilla bean sandalwood smoothed with orchid and tea on a "cushion" of tonka and brightened with a dash of citrus. I love it and I am glad I blindly ordered the Tempting Trio (EdP, Salted Caramel Lip Elixir, Handcreme) as well as the full bottle. I love love love the packaging. I will definitely buy it again. Finally, a new love!

Lotions/ Creams -Suave - Cocoa Butter with Shea Moisturizer
rated 5 of 5
Shadow_Witch 6/11/2013 1:55:00 AM

I purchased this lotion on Amazon. I got two enormous pump bottles for $10. I find the consistency to be almost too thick to dispense through a pump. It goes on very thick and rich and sinks right into my skin. The fragrance is NOT chocolate-y like cocoa butter, nor is it earthy like shea. It is however definitely a softer version of Clairol Herbal Essences hello hydration. Which is too bad because even though it does a great job softening rough skin, I hate the fragrance! I indicated I would not repurchase but I will however make sure to test the other Suave lotions next time I am in the U.S.
UPDATE: I had to change my rating of this product to 4 lippies, but I really want to give it a 4.5. It soothes and softens my skin like no other product I've tried and, I spend a lot of money on body lotion/cream because I have dry, dry, skin. I applied this lotion to my rough callused feet (I'm on them 12 hr/shifts), they are soft and supple after only one application. Also, the fragrance really tones down to something resembling Tone soap after 15-20 minutes. Oh, heck, it gets a 5 because it's really delivers (I have been reaching for it daily since I received it) and it's really inexpensive.

Skincare - Body -Alaffia - Unscented Shea Butter
rated 5 of 5
Shadow_Witch 6/4/2013 4:43:00 AM

Being a nurse I constantly wash my hands and they look it. I was at my wit's end with eczema, contact dermatitis, dry ragged cuticles and chronic hang nails... until I happened upon a tester of this product at my local Choice's Market. I rubbed some into my cuticles and dry patches and went on with my grocery shopping. At the checkout counter I looked down at my hands and not only did they look human, they felt soothed. I quickly snatched a 2 oz jar for $6.99 ( I have paid four times as much for creams that did not deliver on their promise). HG

Shampoo -Alaffia - Everyday Shea Moisturizing Shampoo
rated 5 of 5
Shadow_Witch 6/4/2013 4:35:00 AM

I got platinum blonde highlights in my chin length virgin brown hair a couple weeks ago. I went to the store because I was out of my favourite shampoo, Nature's Gate Daily Herbal Shampoo. I saw this on the shelf and gave it a try. This is now my second favourite shampoo. I gave up on "cones" years ago but I still suffered from red-hot dry flaky itchy scalp. Then I switched to SLS free shampoos and my woes are over. I used this shampoo on my 50/50 bleached and virgin hair and it worked like a charm! Gets my scalp and hair clean without stripping the natural oils. I can even skip conditioner! I bought the vanilla mint variety but they also have a lavender and a coconut variety on their web site. My platinum high lights do not feel any different than my virgin hair.

Fragrances -Avon - Haiku Perfume
rated 5 of 5
Shadow_Witch 6/4/2013 4:26:00 AM

It opens with a blast of yuzu or pomelo and dries down to a fresh green tea musk. Very comparable to Elizabeth Arden Green Tea. This one plays really nicely with my body chemistry. I always get compliments. If you like citrus and green tea fragrances, you need to give this one a try. I got mine dirt cheap for $10 CAD for a 50 mL (adorable) bottle. Avon also sells a range of bath and body products in this fragrance. I don't care about brands, I do care about smelling nice. Good value. Doesn't smell "cheap" like all of B&BW's offerings. Very economical. I always repurchase when on sale.

Gels/Soaps -Mountain Sky Soaps - Mountain Sky Shiva's Nirvana Castile Liquid Soap
rated 5 of 5
Shadow_Witch 1/13/2013 6:37:00 PM

I used to love LUSH's Skinny Dip shower gel. It was my favorite. Even though it was thin and watery with bits of cocoa butter floating in it. I was heartbroken when it was discontinued. Not anymore!! Shiva’s Nirvana Castile Liquid Soap smells exactly like my long lost Skinny Dip. I pour some on a clean wet face cloth and it is enough to wash my whole body. The fragrance is a warm clove and clary sage and it doesn't dry my sensitive dry skin. So soothing after a 12 hour nursing shift. Will definitely repurchase.

Mascara -Cover Girl - Lash Blast Clump Crusher mascara
rated 5 of 5
Shadow_Witch 1/6/2013 8:52:00 PM

I bought it for the green tube and because I like LashBlast. I had serious reservations about the brush. I normally don't do well with curved brushes. No one is more surprised than I am that this mascara is the best I have purchased in a long time. I try all the LashBlasts and so far the volumizing one was my favorite. Until this. I have sparse, fine, pale, pointing downward, almost invisible lashes. This mascara makes my lashes look enhanced but natural.I find that this mascara lengthens more than it volumizes BUT, the most astounding thing it does is.... it curls my lashes and holds the curl until I remove it. This is without me pre-curling my lashes. I bought it in Very Black and...it is really black. Will repurchase.

Lotions/ Creams -Chanel - Coco Luxury Body Lotion
rated 4 of 5
Shadow_Witch 12/26/2012 7:43:00 PM

I love this lotion.... Complements my Coco EdT perfectly and layering the two, the scent lasts longer on my skin. I hate the bottle. It's hard, black plastic. I wish it was soft translucent plastic like my No.5 body lotion. My bottle did come with a restrictor... which I will have to remove when it gets low because the hard plastic bottle makes it difficult to squeeze out the lotion. I won't repurchase because of the packaging. When I run out, I will purchase the body cream instead.

Fragrances -Chanel - Coco
rated 4 of 5
Shadow_Witch 12/26/2012 7:33:00 PM

This review is for the EDT. On me it is a mossy, clove-y rose and tonka skin scent. It's so easy to wear, whether I dress up or down. It loses a lippy on packaging. The EdT bottle is a boring rectangle bereft of Chanel style.

Gels/Soaps -Jason Natural Cosmetics - Revitalizing Citrus Body Wash
rated 5 of 5
Shadow_Witch 12/15/2012 7:35:00 PM

Ingredients: Aqua (Water), Cocamidopropyl Betaine, Sodium Lauryl Sulfoacetate, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice (1), Calendula Officinalis Flower Extract, Chamomilla Recutita (Matricaria) Flower Extract, Melissa Officinalis Leaf Extract, Citrus Aurantium Dulcis (Orange) Peel Oil, Prunus Armeniaca (Apricot) Kernel Oil, Allantoin, Panthenol , Tocopheryl Acetate, Glycerin, Lauryl Glucoside, Sodium Sulfate, Sodium Chloride, Stearyl Citrate, Citric Acid, Benzyl Alcohol, Potassium Sorbate, Sodium Benzoate, Limonene, Linalool, Fragrance (Parfum) (1) Certified Organic Ingredient
I was a die-hard TBS Satsuma fan... until TBS ruined the fragrance. Spa Resource products, my go-to for TBS Satsuma dupe, have vanished from our Malwart. Heartbroken but optimistic I went hunting for a replacement. ... I am delighted to have found Jason Revitalizing Citrus Body Wash at my local Choices Market! The fragrance is a perfect dupe. I got a HUGE 887 mL bottle with pump for under $13 dollars. My only minor criticism is I would have preferred a transparent bottle. Leaves my skin cleansed without drying and my mind refreshed, lol. I'm happy. :)

Blush -Illamasqua - Hussy
rated 3 of 5
Shadow_Witch 12/6/2012 4:16:00 PM

The shade gives my cool/neutral pale olive with red undertones complexion the perfect natural warm blush... Too bad. It is the same shade as my natural blush except it is too warm. It is very pigmented. The trick is to use a bit right on the apples of the cheeks. I can't fault it for not being the right shade for me so: It loses lippies for cheap packaging and being so expensive (but the redeeming quality is that a little goes a long way) and it is not available in my town, nor does Sephora Canada ship it (wth?) that I had to buy it on evilBay. For a $30+ blush, I also expected better packaging. I won't be repurchasing this brand because I prefer Make Up Forever.

Fragrances -Avon - Night Magic
rated 5 of 5
Shadow_Witch 10/23/2012 2:43:00 PM

I often wonder if Canadian formulations are different... I have been wearing Avon Night Magic Evening Musk since 1987. It is a beautifully blended classic white musk with incense and a hint of vanilla, very much like TBS White Musk only softer and minus the lily note that goes rank on my skin. It is the only white musk I can wear because it doesn't have the floral screech often identified with white musk. I receive compliments from men, women, and children whenever I wear it -and often long after I no longer can smell it on myself. I am in the minority regarding the packaging... I love it. You can't beat the price. I just recently ordered a full size trio of fragrance, deodorant and powder for $7.99 CAD.

Gels/Soaps -Caress - Daily Silkening bar
rated 5 of 5
Shadow_Witch 10/13/2012 2:54:00 PM

This soap is dear to my heart. My mom gave me my first bar in the 70's when I was visiting her in my home state. I have loved it ever since. She didn't have any money but she had a sharp eye for the finer things in life and taught me about beauty on a shoestring. My mom passed away suddenly this year. Whenever I smell Caress, (the fragrance is along the same lines as the original Chloe by Lagerfeld) it is like she is here with me. Unfortunately Caress has not been sold here in years. I make sure to stock up when I go to the US.

Lipstick -Clinique - Long last Lipstick - Bamboo Pink
rated 5 of 5
Shadow_Witch 10/12/2012 8:22:00 PM

I am so late to this party. It turns out that the ubiquitous Bamboo Pink is the perfect go-to neutral/cool lipstick for my complexion. It appears to me to be equal parts brown and pink with very fine pink/golden/silver shimmer. It is the most long lasting, flattering, and easy to wear of all my lipsticks. It's quite expensive at $19CAD. I love the packaging. I love the classic green GWP packaging too. I hope to score one soon, lol. I have a fair neutral to cool pale olive complexion with light chestnut hair and light golden brown eyes. This lipstick also looks great on my cool, pale, blue eyed, ash blonde friend.

Brows -Avon - Ultra Luxury Brow Liner in Blonde
rated 5 of 5
Shadow_Witch 10/11/2012 8:13:00 PM

I have always had very sparse brows. MAC Fling was my holy grail brow product. The thing is, MAC Fling is insanely expensive for the tiny bit of product and I was going through them like water! Always on the lookout for an alternative, I tried this one. It gets 5/5 just for being the perfect shade of neutral taupe, applies smoothly without skipping, tugging or sticking to brow hair and plucking my already sparse brows. I don't get the shiny brow effect because I always set it with translucent powder and it lasts until I am ready to remove it. If it were an automatic, it would be perfect! It still deserves 5 lippies for being MAC Fling dupe at a mere fraction of the cost. I paid mine $1.99 on sale! UPDATE: December 6, 2012: Blonde is more neutral than MAC Fling which is very cool toned. However I am still loving it. I use it daily and it appears to be wearing down at a rate of one pencil/2 months. Lasting twice as long as Fling at a mere fraction of the cost of Fling. I ordered a half dozen when they were $1.89 in the brochure last campaign. HG
